MBC considers ending Me Too, Flower’s run early
Rumors are swirling that MBC’s Me Too, Flower is headed for an early end, cutting down its episodes from an intended 16 to 15 instead. The reason cited is the end-of-the-year MBC Broadcast Entertainers Awards, which is set for December 29. That’s the Thursday initially set for Me Too, Flower’s finale, so the initial plan... More »

Vampire Idol: Episodes 1-3
Another new show! We’ve been keeping an eye on Vampire Idol, eager to see if the reality would prove to be as wacky and fun as it sounded. And based on the first few installments that premiered this week on cable channel MBN, I think I can safely say: It doesn’t suck. In fact, it’s... More »

Tree With Deep Roots: Episode 19
Wow. Just wow. This show really is a feast for the senses. Though it always manages to be an intellectual and emotional tour de force, it’s episodes like this that take your heart out, grind it up into little pieces, and return it to you by leaving it in a palanquin outside your door. Don’t... More »

Color of Woman: Episodes 1-2
The cable deluge is upon us! I’m glad to report that some of the brand-new selections look quite promising, as is the case with the adorable Color of Woman, which turns out to be a lot more feel-good than the descriptions made it seem. It’s a lot warmer and friendlier than “two careerwomen in a... More »

Me Too, Flower: Episode 7
Ah, noble idiot syndrome. It’s a standard crutch that our heroes like to lean on to prove to viewers how sacrificial and pure they are. Too bad it’s also one of the most infuriating sicknesses that has ever plagued k-drama land. It’s a close second behind cancer. Fortunately, it hasn’t hit our hero too hard…yet.... More »

Jung Kyeo-woon cameos on Captain as a top star
Jung Kyeo-woon took a little time off from his own drama schedule (he’s currently filming the series History of the Salaryman) to cameo for a different SBS drama, Take Care of Us, Captain. Apparently Jung has ties to several of the stars in the drama’s regular cast: He is currently repped by the same agency... More »

The Musical: Episode 12
We’re back! Again. One of the benefits of having a hiatus is that the first ten minutes of the episode is spent on recapping the past 11 episodes. (Less for me to write!) One of the downsides of having a hiatus is that you really need those first ten minutes of recap. (Grr.) However, some... More »

SNL Korea picks Gong Hyung-jin as its second host
Cable channel tvN has announced the next host of its newly unveiled Saturday Night Live Korea, which kicked off its run this past weekend with actor Kim Joo-hyuk as the inaugural host. Number 2 honors go to Gong Hyung-jin, who I think is a perfect choice: The guy is hilarious, fast on his feet, and... More »
