Jeon Tae-soo makes his comeback in cable sitcom You’re Here

Rookie actor Jeon Tae-soo (Sungkyunkwan Scandal, It’s Okay Daddy’s Girl) — perhaps still more famous as Ha Ji-won’s little bro — has been staying out of the public eye for the past year, but he’s ready to get back to work with a new project. He appeared in a music video last month for R&B/ballad singer ALi, and now he’ll be joining the cast of MBN’s daily sitcom You’re Here, You’re Here, You’re Really Here.

Jeon will play a “quirky, slightly foolish 4-D doctor,” which sounds like a good change for him. He’s bugged out his eyes enough as the glaring villain in several projects already, so it’ll be a chance for him to stretch his range, which right now is pretty small. I want him to do well even though frankly he’s a only proven himself to be a limited actor thus far; still, there’s something there in him that makes me think he could do better.

Jeon has been lying low ever since he ran into some trouble last year; he had a drunken brawl that got him lots of bad press and he was subsequently dropped from his sitcom at the time, All My Love. He’s been on haitus ever since, and a rep from Jeon’s agency said, “Because he took a long break, he considered his next project with extra thought. His previous roles have been gruff, heavy characters, but he decided to choose a role that would allow him to get closer and more comfortable with his fans.”

You’re Here, You’re Here, You’re Really Here is a series I’ve been watching in my spare time, and it’s a curious case of a show not being very good but still managing to keep you coming back for more. I’m planning an introductory post on the sitcom, which you can expect soonish, so I won’t get into too much detail here. So for now, suffice to say that there are some cast members who make the viewing experience enjoyable, even though there’s lots of dumb filler that pads out the show, too. It’s nowhere near as entertaining as I wanted it to be, and it’ll probably be going on the back burner now that there are so many interesting new options. But for a while it was mindless, easy watching.

Jeon’s character will be the much-younger half-brother to two ajusshis in the show; eldest brother is the corporate CEO played by Han Jin-hee, who’s 62 years old. Comic veteran Kang Nam-gil plays the middle brother, and he’s 53. (In the cast photo, they are the two older men in suits, in the back row.) Jeon, meanwhile, is 27. So yeah, that’s weird, but probably part of the comedy.

I love Lee Soo-kyung, but I haven't heard anything about this show that makes me want to watch it. I'll just stick to "Color of a Woman", which actually has four awesome lead actors, and a bunch of other adorable characters, too. (I'm so happy Jae Hee didn't pick a crappy project, this time ^^ Love him.)

Jeon Tae-soo isn't the best actor, but he's got a certain charisma which smoothes over his limits. Who knows, he might yet improve a lot, and surprise us all with an awesome performance! At least his eyes hopefully don't have to turn red for this role ^^

I don't mind seeing Jin Yi Han everywhere. Good looks + talent = great combination. But I don't think he is in What's Up.

Jin Yi Han IS in What's Up. His character started showing up starting episode 9 or so.

I really wish someone would sub this sitcom, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

I agree. I'm seeing Jin Yi Han everywhere these days. Don't get me wrong, I like him but I thought I was seeing things for a moment when I saw him on What's Up? XD Specially since I didn't read anywhere that he was actually on the show, not even as a cameo. But there he was!! What a surprise!

I have heard any buzz on this drama at all. I love Jin Yi Han but none of his dramas or roles ever strike me as fascinating. He's handsome though.

As for Ha ji Won's bro, good thing he's taking small roles to improve his craft. He's handsome but i can't seem to shake off his image of being a villian. hahah

Does anyone think that girl in the yellow/mustard sweater above looks so much like Yoon Eun Hye? Lolz Yoon had siimilar photoshoot where she sucks the lollypop. It just reminds me so much of her.

I actually liked him in Sungkyunkwan Scandal although he's playing a baddie role cause he's good looking... besides, mean guys are hot (sometimes). LOL

I'm so glad for his comeback. He got the looks for a leading man so I wish he'll be given that chance soon.

Hhaha I remember watching Star Date with Ha Ji Won on youtube...she was talking about him. She was all...

"He needs to do better...he should be scolded."

And the host was like "By who?"

Ha Ji Won: By me.

LOL, it was cute and funny.

I hope he does good so he's not scolded then! Hahaha.

I haven't seen his other works, but I thought he was fantastic as the villain in SKKS. He sold the character in my opinion and i hated that guy so much. Maybe i need to watch him in other things. I like him though, and wish him the best of luck this year.

Yeah, I've always thought he could be more. Like the type of actor who could shoot to stardom like Lee Min-ho with the right role. And I thought they could have made his character more layered in Sungkyungkwan Scandal. Would have made him more interesting. Oh well. Hopefully he'll have better luck with future projects and his acting improves.

He's involved in a drunken brawl and has to stay out of TV for a year. Can we send Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen to Korea? Never to be seen again...

Seriously, only saw him SKKS, would like to see what else he can do.
