WUT? Cha Tae-hyun is joining 1 Night 2 Days: Season 2? After the hit variety show finally announced that three of the current members — Lee Su-geun, Kim Jong-min, Uhm Tae-woong — would be staying on for the second season, KBS has followed up with the first confirmation of the entire cast, including the three names that have been rumored for a while now — Kim Seung-woo, Sung Shi-kyung and new maknae Joo Won — and has added a surprise seventh member in funnyman-turned-movie-star Cha Tae-hyun. Color me floored.
They really should’ve led with that story from the get-go, don’tcha think? Then no one would’ve been spouting the widespread panic that’s been running rampant these days: namely, Who’s gonna bring the funny? For the first time, I’m convinced that Season 2 might be worth checking out. I know that the five current members have done a commendable job holding up the show without mat-hyung Kang Ho-dong around, but without that larger-than-life personality, it was admittedly a subdued version of the show it used to be. Cha Tae-hyun isn’t Ho-dong (he’s probably going to be more like Ji-won, actually), but he’s got the outlandish comedy persona and instant-recognition factor to anchor the show.
Suddenly I’m excited for Season 2, maybe for the first time ever. Seven’s an odd number, but now Kim Seung-woo can just be the straight-up MC and mat-hyung, and leave Cha Tae-hyun to be the new choding wild card. His variety persona is delightfully immature and notoriously lazy, which is why I see him filling Ji-won’s role more than anything. THANK YE GODS. It’s a giant relief that someone figured out that you can’t do 1N2D with a bunch of nice guys who say yes to everything. Imagine the show if Ji-won never complained. Exactly.
There’s still the big question mark of cast chemistry, which will be the make-or-break-it thing, but now I’m excited to see what the outcome will be. It’s kind of like taking an otherwise predictable dish with standard ingredients and adding a dash of crazy. It could derail faster than the speed of light, but perhaps now it’ll be a crash worth watching. Many of you have asked whether we’ll be recapping Season 2, and the only answer we have is the one we always give, lest we finally get that crystal ball from Santa: We’ll see when we get there.
The second season of 1 Night 2 Days sets sail next weekend, and the first episode airs March 4 on KBS.

I was so happy when I read this – Cha Tae Hyun has been absolutely hilarious on any variety show he’s appeared on. This also puts him in direct competition with his bestie on RM. Heh heh.

i was worried for 1n2d. hey, JooWon is pretty and im a big fan but no choding is no show. I never seen Cha Tae Hyun in variety before (looking for that now) but i’m excited. watched his movie and he has so many expressions that will be very useful in variety. and entertaining to watch.

This is great, great, great news. Out of all of the guests on Family Outing he was my favourite, so I’m looking forward to seeing more of his awesomeness in the second season of 1N2D. I will still miss Ji-Won like crazy, though.

I’m still sad that 1N2D season 1 is over. I’m ok with Seung Gi because I can still see him through his drama and singing activities, that goes for Ji Won too. I guess the one that I’ll miss the most is Na PD. I’ll surely miss his evil grin. Ughh.

good good that cha tae hyun is joining!! oh btw jb, i wonder if anyone notice, because erm, i occasionally view db from mobile, and db has a web version, its also quite easy to navigate around but the horizontal pictures doesn’t shrink to the appropriate resolution though.
Now, I’m excited. I never been a loyal fan of season 1 either, i just watch their special episodes most of the time. The only character i really like in Season 1 is Eun Ji Won and now with S2, i was hesitant when i heard about the cast because who is going to bring in the funny? That’s what i thought too but i’m convinced now with the addition of CTH that there may be success for season 2~
Btw, you guys should try watching Infinity Challenge. It needs more love and recaps from dramabeans will be the best way to increase its popularity. It’s definitely one of the best Korea variety show and it gets even more charming the more you watch it.
I definitely like IC better than 1N2D and RM but the 1N2D is more popular among the older audience and IC is more popular among the younger audience. It may be due to the difference of taste?
I agree with you! IC is one amazing show but sadly there aren’t many episodes subbed *sigh* I watched the rowing special and some more episodes for example the “speed episode” and the “I am a singer” parody

Back to 1N2D ^^ Yayyy for Cha Tae-hyun! I am curious too about the chemistry between them but with CTH I think the audience is all in.
I am glad though that they didn’t get any idols on. As much as I like some of them, Dramaworld is almost full of them and it seem like they are everywhere.
I was thinking Lee Sugeun and Sung Shikyung were the obvious comedians for season 2. Sugeun with his body gags and oneliners and experience as a gagman will continue to be funny. Sung Shikyung has shown that he has an awesome sense for dry humor – or dry delivery of humor. But I love the addition of Concubine Ch because he is always funny of his variety show appearances. So 3 out of 7 sounds good. Add in Jongmin who has his “aaaaaw” inducing funny moments – without meaning to, poo guy – and the Uhm Force being, well, Taewoong, I say we’re set. I’ve only see Kim Seungwoo on Win Win and I can’t say he’s outright funny. Heh. But I am not writing him off just yet. I know nothing of Joowon outside of Ojak-Bros so, we’ll see.

Yes! I was feeling bad Sugeun might have to steer the comedy mobile solo. Now we have this guy. He was super in Running Man, being the scaredy cat yet taunting character. His movies are also always so darn funny. Now I think 1N2D might get a shot at claiming their own glory. I just hope the PD can be a red-horned as Na PD was. Or maybe he can concoct his own evil? Now that would be fun.

Kim Seung-woo is considerably new for variety, and he was soo awkward in his first few eps of Win Win, but I can see he can do games and give him all, if he can’t be funny.
And his chemistry with Lee Sugeun is okay on WW, so I’m not worry about these two.
I hope SSK will speak more, so he won’t be the 2nd UTW, and Joo Won can be the new eomchidal (sp?
) ala Lee Seunggi. I never see him on any variety, so awkwardness is given, but his love to UTW,…….. I’m so hoping the bromance moments!
If you think UTW’s love to KHD is adorable, I think we can expect the same adorableness of Joo Won’s love to UTW. And he’s not shy to show that he looks up to UTW.

Yay! Cha Tae-hyun totally has that ‘I’m only looking out for me, so screw the rest of you guys’ personality that is essential for 1N2D! Although no one can truly replace Eun cho-ding, it is practically assured that Cha Tae-hyun will do a fair share of complaining and sneaking throughout the show.
However, I’m still worried – would he mesh well with the others? I’ve loved him in past variety shows but I’ve always felt like he had his own thing going on, like he really was the special guest instead of part of the group…
With 1N2D, the secret to it in my opinion is how the guys can shine on their own but also come together and become one. Could he do that and still be as hilarious as I expect him to be? :l

Concubine Cha is a major coup! He will definitely bring the manic funny to season 2 (his appearances on Family Outing and Running Man have all been memorable). I’m very curious now how the camaraderie will be/develop between the seven members. And the Antarctica trip! I’m glad that’s being revived for the show.

I for one am so excited for season 2 to happen because I love all the new cast members. True, those who are leaving are my favourite from the season 1 bunch (*sniff* Ji Won), but it’ll be refreshing to see the new dynamics, especially since now Tae Woong will be a sunbae!!

WOW!! Was not that excited about season 2 but now i’m looking forward to it so much! Cha Concubine is devious, lazy, funny and has that sharp wit and cunning that made his Family Outing and Running Man appearances so funny! Although the season 2 cast sounded alright – now i’m super excited! Hope they all grow to mesh well together (prob some freezing water dipping involved) and 1N2D’s success continues! 1N2D season 2 FIGHTING!

I will always miss Eun choding, but CTH comes with his own set of funny, including tremendous good luck (remember how he owned everyone in FO in all their games DESPITE being so lazy??).

Wow. I didn’t even think how awkward it’ll be. No mc-genius Ho dong and savvy Seunggi to host. they just knew each other and no Evil Na PD that forces them to be close no matter what (like Uhm Tae Woong first appearance). I really hope that the new PD has his evil way so they went straight into action from the get go forgetting the awkward factor.
So, will Joo Won be the ultimate boy next door like Seunggi? Can’t wait!

LOVE Cha Tae-hyun! This guy is crazy, and I bet you anything that if he’s in it, I’ll never nitpick my 1n2d episodes. Funny it never occurred to me that he’s similar to my other current bias on 1n2d: Ji-won. But it’s true. He is lazy. He does complain. And he gets sneaky when it comes to shortcuts for winning. I love him. But we’ll wait and see if the new season is any good. X)
