Can I be Kim So-yeon when I grow up? She’s got the acting chops, the smolder, the killer looks and the even more killer action moves.
She’s working a couple of those skills in a new photo shoot for Arena Homme, which happens to coincide with her upcoming film Coffee, the spy-thriller set in the late Joseon era where she plays the emperor’s personal barista who is also part of a conspiracy to assassinate him. The trailer looks awesome, and I’m expecting a fast-paced, fun ride.
Basically Kim So-yeon should always kick ass. I remember watching her in Gourmet playing the quiet, elegant, passive type and it drove me up a wall. It almost made me forget she’d been so memorable as the scheming villain in All About Eve. Luckily her roles in recent years have been a lot more interesting (see: Prosecutor Princess, IRIS and Athena, and even Dr. Champ to a degree). Here’s to hoping Coffee follows suit.

I must admit I have only seen her in dramas where she’s the heroine, i.r. Gourmet, Prosecutor Princess and Dr Champ. I’ve not seen her in bad-ass roles. I have to check out those dramas to see how ‘bad’ she can be.

Keeping Korean actors/actresses name’s straight is a trial for me. But I remembered her in Dr. Champ. She does look kick-ass in this spread.

Whenever I see her, I see a sexier and more mature looking Song Hye Gyo. She’s hot stuff. I remembered watching IRIS and thinking “damnnnn, she stoled the show! Kim Tae Hee who??”

I have to be honest.. the amount of ads that this site has now is a complete turn-off. Anything that interferes with navigation or being able to view content is a no-no. I stopped going to allkpop.com because they began layering ads over pictures. Now I come to dramabeans and have a toolbar up top as well as occasional pop-ups (I think they were Home Depot).
Please stop w/ the ads.. it makes the site look cheap.

Are there pop ups? Coz I don’t encountered those pop ups here. But just in case there are advertisement pop-ups, I think you don’t have the right to ask them to stop those advertisements because this is their site. They’re spending a lot in maintaining this site so it’s justifiable if they resort to posting adverstisements. As a regular visitor of this site, I’m very grateful that they are spending their precious time to keep us updated about Korean entertainment.
In Prosecutor Princess, I found her super annoying in the first 4-5 episodes, mostly because of her self-absorbed character, but it got so much better later on. She won me over in that drama.
I love how she looks like she’s about to eat you in still pictures and then in interviews, she’s so giggly and embarrassed and yappy. Basically she’s my hero.
Haha, exactly! She’s totally cute and silly, different from her tough kick-*ssery roles and coming closest to her MHR role in PP. I think that adds to her appeal.^^

I like that she has played in many different roles. I didn’t even recognize or image that the North-Korean spy in IRIS could be the same person as Ma hye ri in Prosecutor princess where she was bubbly and cute.

woah speechless! i remember one of my friend’s husband (she’s Korean & he’s caucasian) one day we got to talking about how i luv watching kdramas, etc. & her husband watches kdramas occasionally so i asked him who among the K actresses he likes, and he said ‘the other actress from All About Eve’ can u blame him?
