Kim So-eun is coming back with a new miniseries! Hurrah! (She’s such a promising rising talent, yet she’s chosen to build her career with weekend and daily shows in recent years. See: A Thousand Kisses, A Fine Windy Day. It’s a valid career choice — safe, mainstream, good for visibility — but it means that the material is likewise more conventional, and less exciting.)
The role is for a cable drama on JTBC titled Happy Ending (must not make dirty joke, must not make dirty joke), where Kim plays daughter to Choi Min-soo, a rigid patriarch who learns that he’s dying. He begins making preparations for his passing, to “make his farewell cheerfully.”
Phew, thank heavens for that one word, cheerfully. Not that this kind of dramatic premise can’t be moving — and with Choi Min-soo (Warrior Baek Dong-soo) in the lead, I’m pretty sure he’ll have me bawling in no time. The man can rip out my heart, and then have me busting a gut in laughter. However, having seen Scent of a Woman and Thousand Day Promise in the past year, I just don’t think I’m ready for another depressing terminal-illness story yet.
In any case, I’m hoping that means that Happy Ending gives us, well, a happy ending. It’s sort of built right into the title there. Don’t you dare veer off-course now, auspiciously titled drama, or I may have to hurt you.
Kim So-eun’s character Eun-ha is a fashionable hotelier, a confident woman who knows that her beauty is an asset and a weapon. Hm, it’s the kind of character that can turn brash in the hands of some actresses, but Kim So-eun’s so charming that I hope it’s played sassy. Cast as her love interest is… singer Kang Ta? As in, H.O.T Kang Ta? Okay, I know he’s acted before (2005′s Loveholic), but to me he’ll always be H.O.T. Kang Ta.
Happy Ending will premiere on April 23; it airs as a Monday-Tuesday series.

LOL! Great response and reaction. It would be interesting to see her and Kim Bum acting now, considering how much they’ve grown (for him, physically and in his craft. For her mostly in her craft). It would be interesting to see the kind of chemistry they would generate now (and hopefully less awkwardness).
If we could have a hot spunky Kim Bum ( with his Padam long hair ) and sweet sassy KSE… we would be, or I would be in couple shipping heaven.

Kim So Eun!!!! I absolutely adore her, she is amazing and I can’t wait to see her in this miniseries. The premise sounds really interesting and Choi Min Soo has such great charisma and screen presence that I think KSE and him will be wonderful together.
Kang Ta? I wasn’t into KPop when H.O.T was popular, but surely he ages gracefully.
I like Kim So Eun, I like Choi Min Soo, so hopefully, even if this will be a sad drama, it’s better be good.

I just saw Kim So Eun in an episode of “Music & Lyrics” with 2pm’s Junho today and was wondering when I can see her in a drama role soon (it’s hard for me to get into a weekend drama), so this is exciting news! She is so beautiful. Oh, and I second/third the Kim Bum casting! I actually loved KSE and KB in Boys Over Flower more than the lead couple.

Holy crap! KangTa?! I actually love Kim So Eun. She’s incredibly versatile in my opinion. KangTa on the other hand is just okay….plus, Loveholic was so so so long ago. I remember a lot of people liked it (that I knew of) but I thought it was merely okay.

Well, maybe they don’t… I’m just speaking on the basis of the actors’ ages (having 10 years between them, I googled). Maybe they’ll have amazing chemistry, but hey, they might as well have cast the-same-age-as-Kim-So-Eun Kim Bum!!!

When I read Happy Ending, all that came to mind is the craziness of Happy Endings from the ABC Network starring the ever lovable, funny, and sassy (yes, sassy) Damon Wayans Jr. It’s a crazy show and one I wouldn’t normally follow, but it’s just so…. funny. Heh.
I wouldn’t mind checking this out for Choi Minsoo and Kim So-eun though…. and Kangta. Hey, he’s pretty. All three of them are (Minsoo is more along the lines of ruggedly good looking).
I adore Kim So Eun but I’ve watched one too many bad dramas for her…i thought 1000 kisses was the last straw but this look promising enough that i might check it out….only thing, i’m not sure if Kang Ta can act since i’ve never seen him in anything

Sorry that means that some shows get left out, but keeping up with an ever-changing broadcast schedule for both network and cable is a full-time job in itself. I really adore Kim So Eun a lot. I’m so glad she decided to take this miniseries. I would love to see her in next Hong Sisters drama, I think she really get the potential. I found it meh when I heard Miss A’s Suzy is being considered as the female lead of their upcoming drama. She CANNOT act, her acting is cringe worthy in DH
Dream High is Suzy’s debut. Maybe she have improved by now. I heard she did great on the movie “Introduction to Architecture”
