Lee Ki-woo has picked his next TV project, and well, that does it; now I’m just going to have to watch Standby, aren’t I? Especially since he’ll be embarking on a bickering romance with Jung So-min, the gullible village girl in the big city. Sweet!
As the latest addition to the MBC sitcom set in a television station, Lee Ki-woo plays a character named Ryu Ki-woo, which means he’s going to be playing Ryu Jin’s younger brother. (When actors are cast as siblings in sitcoms, they’ll often keep their first names and then just adjust the family name to match the elder actor, like Seo Ji-seok did in High Kick 3.)
The character of Ki-woo has an optimistic, sociable nature and is full of good cheer. He’s handsome and charming on the outside, but in actuality he’s a mischievous type, and “has everyone wrapped around his finger.” What, like that’s bad? *Unwraps self momentarily.* I love how both brothers are described as looking cool and perfect, but are all quirky on the inside. (Elder brother Ryu Jin is desperate to make it to the big time as a news anchor and starts on a campaign to advance himself at the station.)
Jung So-min lives downstairs from Ki-woo, and the two will embark on a “cute love story.” Aww, I can’t wait. Standby premieres in April.

Argh! If only this wasn’t a sitcom…I’d be so down to watch this!
My thoughts exactly. Oh well – hopefully I’ll have more time over the summer. Can’t miss the return of the Pillar
i know. couldn’t it be 16 or 20 episodes drama? i’m already behind with high kick.
ikr!!! I so want to watch Lee Ki-Woo and all his handsome glory but man…a think a sitcom where it airs everyday will be killer on me
I know! I mean it’s Jung So Min AND Lee Ki Woo!!!
‘Am I the only one that’s happy to have 100 episodes of Lee Ki-Woo and Jung So-Min together? Teehee.
nope… count me in
i hope someone sub this
I am so excited about this drama! I can’t wait!
okay… yet ANOTHER thing on my super long list of reasons for why I should watch standby
Omgsh, I can totally get behind this! Now, I HAVE to watch it. ;_____;
I’m so fickle. ;____; Anyway, I really hope a subbing team takes it on. Hopefully, I can keep up.
Oh dear. I definitely think I am watching this subs or no subs.
omg I am so excited for this now. Those two will be adorable together.
I am in! I will watch to the ends of the earth. Dear God please don’t let then screw up the storyline.
I’m jumping up on down on my bed!
So he is the main guy? I thot Ryu Jin or Im Shi-wan…but now dis guy…am sooo gonna watch this!
Cute overload couple.
Wait! Mr. Onion is in this as well!? And romancing village girl Jung So Min? And younger brother to Ryu Jin? I’m in! I was thinking of not watching because it’s going to be so long, but this sitcom keeps adding such an awesome people in it!
There is just no way I won’t watch it. Just hope the storyline is as cute and funny as it sounds!
Yeah!! This is a yes!! Mr Onion I hoped at last you can get the girl! He is much suited with Jung So Min than Ryujin & Im Shiwan.
Hoped that RyuJin will also get a girl around his age. He always play the second fiddle except for ATK maybe.
Yup. It’s official. I’m totally going to watch this. I need to see the Panda happy. XD
YES!YES!YES!!
(think Meg Ryan/Billy Crystal deli scene..)
Can only hope some kind souls will sub this for us non-Korean understanders..
and suddenly, a LONG drama enters my list of must see tv. As long as it gets subbed somewhere…
I just begged (shameful, but true) over at the DramaFever FB page. Want to join in?
Yes! I will! Plus you can ask for them to add things right at DF, I have always done it that way.
Great! I prefer the FB page because of the traffic there and the DF Team actually answers my comments asap. Even my complaints elict a response.
Which page IS it, though?
I’ll join you!
I’m so sad it’s a sitcom because sitcoms are hardly subbed.
i am one of many wrapped around his smexy finger. im officially watching this now.
Jung So-min, Ryu Jin and now Lee Ki-woo? Well, now I’m going to have to watch. Dammit.
(does anyone know how many episodes Standby is projected to have? 120 like High Kick 3?)
omg YES! i couldn’t wait to watch Lee Ki-woo again after FBRS, i’m so excited now.
OMGeee, it’s Husband!! Now, I’m going to have to watch.
Ojakgyo Brothers opened my eyes to the awesomeness of sitcoms. And I loved Lee Ki-woo in FBRS, so I think I’m in. I gave up dramas until after my thesis is due in May, so this is going to be a great reward!!!!
I think Ojakgyo was a (weekend) family drama rather than a sitcom – but it was awesome, you’re right.
wtf this is like the perfect casting! guess i’m watching my first sitcom.
Haven’t watched a Korean sitcom thus far, but you might have to count me in for this one.
he finally gets the girl, YAY.
Well that’s that..i’ll have to watch this!!!
i’m happy for Kiwoo (that shirtless scene will forever reside in my brain). but Jung So Min? really? lol. i hope she’s not as annoying as she was in Playful kiss. cause she pissed me off in that drama. but i guess that wasn’t really her fault. it’s just that her character was worse then Geum Jan Di. well, i’m still gonna watch it. hahahahahaa…….
Hum, Jung So Min did very well in PK, if you watched the Taiwanese version you would know that it isn’t the actress but the character that is annoying.
She did an annoying-cute character, and for that I’m very pleased, she also had to carry the entire drama over her shoulders, poor girl.
Agree, ISWAK’s Ariel Lin’s character is super annoying ^^
Yep, like people are saying the character itself was very annoying. Like shame-to-women annoying. She made absolutely no decisions for herself thinking of herself…or thinking. *face palm* x3
OHEMGEE. So excited rn!
AWWW! Why does this show keep sounding better and better by the minute? Unfair!
interesting… I don’t know if i’ll pick this one up, but high kick 3 was pretty enjoyable for me… hmm
NO WAY!!!!!!!
This is gonna be so totally AWESOME!!!! Comedy at it’s best!!!!!!!
I so gotta see this!!!!!
I’m crying and praying for this Sitcom be subbed, it’s so hard sitcoms be subbed *sob sob* hope Lee Ki Woo, plus Ryu, plus Si-wan and Jung So Min make people excited to sub it!
Please please!
Poor Jung So Min! She had to use a small box to reach Kim Hyun Joong for the kissing scene in the rain … now with Lee Ki woo ….. dear lord she will need a ladder!
I can’t stop laughing just picturing them next to each other .. HE IS TALL!!!
She wasn’t wearing heels in PK, hope she’ll be wearing them in Standby! So Min + Ki Woo = Cuteness overload! ^^,
Lol, but she’s still tiny! Shes 165 cm to LKW’s 189 cm. Heels can only do so much.
Am getting heart flutters imagining him casually bending down to look into her eyes! ^^
He can pick her up to kiss her…that’s SO sexy.
LMAO now I wish they do it.
They are going to make such an adorable couple! I’m blushing just thinking about how cute they’ll look hahaha.
She should just work the short. Heels will not help much. Dude is tall, lol!
Well, damn.
How many episodes is this sitcom again? I need to know how many months of my life to devote to it.
I think they go to about 120 episodes, maybe more
…. and just for the hell of it … This is Kim Hyun Joong new look … picture taken yesterday

(*.*)
I like the hair better, but his eyes look so…defined. His face looks like a drawing. Maybe just the lighting? He normally has such a sweet face.
One of reason his eyes look so defined is he had eyeliner
Oh hellz yes, I’ll be watching this.
Oh gosh I literally just *squeeeeeed* out loud. They will be soo cute together! Glad to see Jung So Min finally back in another project, she is too talented and adorable and paired with Lee Ki Woo it will definitely be cuteness overloaaaad. I’m dying already just imagining the pairing. Now if only this will be subbed… *crosses fingers*
I wanna get into a sitcom. I really want to watch Vampire Idol but we see how that’s going, so hopefully this gets subbed because Lee Ki Woo! Also sitcoms are only 30 minutes episodes each right? I can do that.
The longest drama I’ve watched thus far was 95 episodes (45 min each) and it was a melodrama. I can DO THIS.
High Kick 3 is actually 21 minutes per episode. So even if there are 5 eps a week it’s still shorter than the 2+ hours a week of a miniseries.
Exactly, so it’s not so bad. And you can always let the episodes build up for a week then watch those. Then let them build up for another week and watch those….
AHH!! O_O That’s HIM!! *speechless looks w/ points at him*
…THIS actor is from other bessst rom-comedy drama “Flowers Boys Ramyun Shop” ~ I really love him cuz’ he’s so cute, haha! I can’t believe that this actor Lee Ki Woo already confirmed this drama…oh…it’s a sitecom like as other drama “High Kick 3″, right?? Ohh I’ve been never watch these Korean actors in a sitecom before (it’s my first time, yups) ~ I had been watching loooong dramas, such as “Giant”, “Twinkle Twinkle”, “Ojakgyo Borther”, and others, of course. I will try to watch this (because of Jung So Min and Lee Ki Woo) if I have time, yupsss!!
I am really haaaappy to hear this wonderful news about Lee Ki Woo, woot woot!
Aw man. No I really gotta watch Standby. hehe
Yeah!!! My favorite people together!
I’m in! I actually love sitcoms more than regular dramas. Granted I don’t always finish watching the whole series (haven’t finished either high kick 2/3), I do enjoy the short time frame (how long each episode is) and the family theme behind it without all the angst (:
Love the actor, hate the actress. Why does KPOP world give me the pairing that I want lately? Bummer. Another skip for me… =/
This isn’t KPOP world, dear, this is DRAMAWORLD.
Why do you hate minmin?
oh…does tis mean my ryu jin is the 2nd lead again
Err Sitcoms have many couples, doesn’t mean he won’t have the girl.
Dangit, why does this have to be a sitcom? I don’t have the time to watch hundreds of episodes
I won’t be able to watch this. Why are the Drama Gods so cruel?? Pleasssseee change it into a drama! *prays to Drama Gods*
The Pillar is back!!!!! YES!
Dangit! There goes all my hope for Pillar to be cast with Kim Sun Ah in her new drama! *cries*
Ah, well. Guess I’ll have to be happy with just seeing more of him on tv. *crossing fingers for more shirtless Lee Ki-Woo*
wow Jung So min is so lucky, Kim Hyun Joong and now Lee Ki WOO
that’s a lot of eye candy and hotness for her haha I loved Lee Ki Woo in Flower Boy Ramyun Shop
hayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I think they’re also very lucky to pair with jung so min !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
because jung so min so pretty , ., and very so sweet ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
i know right! she’s so lucky… if her next onscreen partner is lee min ho, i’ll just die of envy!!! XD
Lee Ki Woo is much cuter than Kim Hyun Joong. Im excited to see them couple up together. I never even watched anythng Lee Ki woo starred in, even Flower Boy Ramyun Shop. I just saw one scene where he hold on only a towel, and I love him. hehehe, this will be my first sit com, hopefully I can make it through 100+ ep!! But hopefully, it will be subbed first.
yuuuuuupppppps , . ,., saya setuju sekali , . ,
they look very harmoniously together …………………………….
Im Siwan, Jung So-min, AND Lee Ki Woo?!
OMO!!!! Finally, Lee Ki-Woo, I missed YOOOOOOU <3333
I want to watch this one…probably my first sitcom…but am not sure where I can watch it online with sub…:(( I have been reading recaps since 49 days…just don’t have time with a new baby and all…arrggh. And now, there are new great dramas coming…whew, I have to make time…lol
