MBC confirms Moon/Sun will not air this week

The addition of drama PDs to the MBC labor strike has rendered it impossible for The Moon That Embraces the Sun to finish production on this week’s episodes, as previously feared. There’s just too much work and too few hands among the short-staffed crew, and MBC has announced that they’ll be airing Moon/Sun specials this week to fill in the gap.

The upside: The filming with the principal cast will end on time, which is good news since Kim Soo-hyun and Jung Il-woo are booked solid, having assumed they’d wrap this drama by Thursday. The reason the two final episodes will not be ready for this week’s broadcast slots is because there isn’t enough time (or hands on deck) to complete all the editing and post-production work.

This isn’t a great scenario for MBC, which has been extremely happy about selling out all of its advertising slots weeks in advance, and can boast a national drama in its ranks after, let’s face it, a lackluster past few years. I’m sure all eyes will be on the ratings meters next week, to see if a week’s delay causes numbers to plummet, or if people will tune in regardless ’cause, well, what else is there to watch?

Speaking of which, this sends the other stations scrambling to figure out what to do with their shows. Initially all three stations were to premiere their new shows on the same day, March 14. But Moon/Sun‘s postponement pushes back the Ha Ji-won/Lee Seung-gi vehicle The King 2 Hearts, which’ll air on March 21. Now KBS and SBS have to deal with the question of whether to also push back the premieres of Equator Man and Rooftop Prince, or risk handicapping their new dramas by pitting their launches against a Moon/Sun finale.

According to reports, SBS has decided to postpone Rooftop Prince accordingly, and will air a two-episode special, Family Portrait, in the intervening week. KBS’s decision is less certain; some reports state that Equator Man will also get pushed, while another cites a source with Equator’s production stating that they haven’t made any plans yet.

Very unprofessional going on strike. Reflect badly on the company as unreliable and poor time managment.

Poor TMETS viewers for such bad delay this week! Anyway, I still love TMETS the best!

Please respect the viewers coz we have no guilt no false! :(( .... So many difficulties with Lee Hwon & Yeon Woo love story, not in the film but also with the airing... Don't say that we viewers must wait for 8 years more to
reunite with TMETS and see the happy ending! How can we can do like King Hwon who kept pure love in such a long time? :P

By the way, for the ending, we hope for a happy ending! In case the scriptwriters want a sad ending to make deep affection, please let both Lee Hwon and Yeon Woo die embracing together but don’t separate them again! We just can’t stand if they apart again.

I was waiting for Rooftop Prince premiere, and now I have to wait a little longer because it's being pushed back to 21 March.

I cannot wait Rooftop Prince, the 7 minutes Preview just attracted me 100% already ^^

Well, that's what MBC gets for ignoring their demands. Sucks to be MBC's president...Serves you right...

I don't know if the spoilers I read for EP.19 and 20 are true...Min Hwa you despicable person, you deserve to be like that. Idk how faithful the drama will be as compared to the novel so maybe they'd twist it?

This is pure torture... OMG! I swear, this is worse then back when I was watching City Hunter. Cliffhangers were the death of me then and now as well. Humbug... Won't be able yo watch the show as soon as it airs either, vacation calls... I was really looking forward to it this week... I guess I'll have to wait until I get home and then lock myself up to watch the show over and over again... hehehe

WELL now with this disappointment...the 2-4 episode extension is LESS likely to happen.

Hopefully these last two episodes will be AWESOME and leave all of us- whom have waited oh so patiently -very happy or at least satisfied, with the outcomes to come.

I am also waiting for Rooftop Prince, haven't seen any trailers or nothing, so hopefully its good.
