    Happy Friday ALL.

    Good morning! Push thru.. #FinishStrong

    Work. Home. WEEKEND. Let’s Begin.

    • 1.1 Ani

I can’t believe I actually used a slang spelling for “through”. *facepalm* Well, nothing to it I guess. *off to work*

      • 1.1.1 alua

I would say that’s better than misspelling it!

    • 1.2 Stacey

Man! I remembered to try to be first on the Open Thread today and I kept checking, then got sucked up with work. Nice job Ani. ;o) I have next week. hehehe.

PS – LOVED the last episode of Rooftop Prince!! Can’t wait for next week. Thanks javabeans and girlfriday!! I love your work and am a HUGE fan!!

Happy Friday! Have a great, adventure-filled weekend.

      • 1.2.1 shirin-noona

I wanted to be the first too,I guess Ani beat both of us;)

        • 1.2.1.1 kewbie

Hehe…good morning. I wanted to be close to first but not really first. Because, really, on Fridays, the first post ends up being the longest and then by the time you post your number, whether it be 6 or 26 or 56, no one reads your stuff anymore. haha… Well, no one reads mine anyway. :-0

          • 1.2.1.1.1 shirin-noona

Ha ha,never thought about it that way!:-))

    • 1.3 kewbie

Good morning! Looking forward to the weekend, too. Hope yours goes well!

    • 1.4 KDrama Fan

      Where’s the ‘Like’ button? LOL.

    • 1.5 alua

Good morning! Good day! Good evening! Good night! (All depending where you are.)

Just flying by today… The Terracotta Film Festival is happening in Londontown at the moment, so today, tomorrow and Sunday are all filled with film-watching for me. Just saw 转山 (Zhuǎn shān/One Mile Above aka Kora, China/Taiwan, 2011), which was wonderful, wonderful, wonderful (but had a slightly too rushed, slightly too open ending).

Now, I’m counting down the hours/minutes/seconds till Studio Ghibli’s コクリコ坂から (Kokuriko-zaka Kara/From up on Poppy Hill). I don’t even have such high expectations for the film (it’s not going to measure up to my favourite Studio Ghibli films, but that’s okay because it’ll still be a delight), but I’m just so excited that I’ll be getting to see it! At the European premiere!

So, no dramas for me till next week – but then it’ll be RTP and I’m determined to start the dorama SPEC – First Blood since himonotales is giving me the impression that I’m missing something totally awesome. :-D

      • 1.5.1 diorama

Woohoo! I’m going to start SPEC too, I’ve heard rave reviews about it. Plus, I love Toda Erika and crime procedurals.

I love Jdoramas because of their 12-episode length. Kdramas, unless they’re really good, start to fatigue around ep 12.

        • 1.5.1.1 Ani

Too true about the kdrama fatigue.

I have been watching J-Variety Shows again – well, since English Subs are starting to pop up again left and right on internet. Yay for Japanese Companies (I’m looking at you Johnnies!) easing up (just a little) on the Copyright stuff on youtube for now. I mean Copyright Law is important, but so is some exposure right? Tough call. While taking a course on Intellectual Property Laws, I found it interesting for me to balance my “Justice for All” persona and my love/gratitude for fansubs. XD

But, yes, j-dorama is still my first love when it comes to Asian dramas and I love how short they can be.

        • 1.5.1.2 alua

Check himonotales’s (himonotales.wordpress.com if I’m not wrong) recaps for SPEC. Or just read her gushing about it in her hilarious “I need a rehab” post

Sometimes doramas feel short (or like I still want more of certain characters), but yeah, k-dramas do always have episodes that feel very filler-ish. And we talk about t-dramas, ughhh, overload (usually a matter of the leads going in circles about their feelings for each other in the most annoying manner!).

          • 1.5.1.2.1 John

            Alua~

Thank you for recommending SPEC. I’ll watch it. I like your web site, lots of good info there.

          • 1.5.1.2.2 John

            Alua~

I’m only 1/2 way through episode 1 but I have to say this, Love !! :)

          • 1.5.1.2.3 himonogirl

I noticed a sudden burst in my statistics and wondered what happened…..So it was your doing alua !!
haha, thanks for your kind recommendation (_ _)

I always wanted to chime in the open thread discussion, but never managed to.
Glad I made it today, thanks to you ♥

          • 1.5.1.2.4 alua

@John…. himonotales is himono’s website (I’m assuming you ore referring her blog, which is awesome, I just wish she’d write more *hint hint himonogirl!!!*)

@himono Hahaha! Glad you are getting a burst in your stats! Of course I’ll recommend your blog, since I love it! (except that you don’t post often enough :-P )

          • 1.5.1.2.5 himonogirl

            Ack. My weak point.
            I know, I should update more, but…..I’m a himonogirl ♪
            okay, lame excuse.
At the moment, I have two posts in the making, but cant’ manage to finish them…TT_TT

          • 1.5.1.2.6 John

            Well, I marathoned SPEC.

            It was delicious .

            Off to read himonogirls’s recaps.

      • 1.5.2 Noelle

        Lucky duck! Love Ghibli films.

        • 1.5.2.1 alua

It’s totally booked out. Which is exactly why I bought my ticket the moment booking opened a few weeks ago!

I’ll make sure to review From up on Poppy Hill… though it might take a couple of weeks, One Mile Above and The Woodsman and the Rain are higher up on my reviewing list as I want those ready before the Far East Film Festival in Udine next week (where they are screening also).

  2. shirin-noona

Happy Friday my unnis, oppas and dong sengs!
I’m loving Rooftop prince.Haven’t seen episode 7 yet but I have this crazy idea on how it ends.I think Sena will try to kill Park ha because she’s the daughter of the chairman.Lee gak will understand that and somehow he’ll connect the dots and realize that the person who had died 300 years ago was Crown princess’ sister a.k.a Park ha!So he’ll go back to the time before that and he saves her.I said it’s a crazy idea!:D

    • 2.1 Ani

Maybe the Prince and his gang won’t go back. I don’t know the time-traveling rules in the drama, but I feel like they arrived in an unchanged South Korea – from what WE as viewers can tell. SO maybe they were meant to stay in the future?…. But maybe I’m wrong, because the Prince would want to go back and solve the case. I’m still up in the air about who died, but I am still thinking it was the Prince’s Princess.

      • 2.1.1 shirin-noona

I want the prince to stay in the future too, maybe he can stay here and tae yong can stay in Chosun, that is if he’s still alive.

        • 2.1.1.1 alua

Yup, I’m voting for Prince in the future. Or at least I want the Prince and Park-ha together, either time. I don’t want him to go back and get together with the crown princess’s sister OR Park-ha get together with Tae-yok.

No no. I’m firmly on the Prince and Park-ha team.

          • 2.1.1.1.1 Shukmeister

            Guten tag!

I, too, hope the boys never return to Joseon. After all, Prince is learning that the appearance of a familiar face does not guarantee the same feelings or person. Plus, what will Man-Bo do without his shampoo?

          • 2.1.1.1.2 alua

            Servus Shukmeister!

Man-Bo can always invent the shampoo (as someone else suggested). :-D

          • 2.1.1.1.3 Ivoire

@ Shukie: Is there a correlation between bubble baths and eating kimchi? you lost me, please explain….

          • 2.1.1.1.4 Shukmeister

            Cabbage causes gas.
So you sit in the bathwater, pass gas, and voila!
            bubbles

          • 2.1.1.1.5 Ivoire

            @ Shukie, LOL!!!
Funny how your brain works! What about the part where THAT bubble bath would not smell as good as the one with the bubble soap bath from the future? Are we now going for acidic scent while taking a bath ?

        • 2.1.1.2 shirin-noona

          Guten tag Shuk!
haha Man-bo and his shampoo, wait till he discovers conditioner!:))

          • 2.1.1.2.1 Shukmeister

            Or bubble baths!

Oh wait, they already eat a lot of kimchi, don’t they….

          • 2.1.1.2.2 shirin-noona

            LOL!

        • 2.1.1.3 shirin-noona

alua he can always invent shampoo but what about lady Mimi ( or was it Lily?!) who has such a huge crush on him?He has to stay here!
By the way I hope the drama doesn’t go like all this was Lady Mimi’s story on us.Like what they did in “Lovers in Paris”.

          • 2.1.1.3.1 Shukmeister

            True true

          • 2.1.1.3.2 alua

What happened in Lovers in Paris? Is that a drama/film?

I’m with you anyhow, all the boys should stay in modern times!

          • 2.1.1.3.3 shirin-noona

It’s a drama and (spoilers ahead if you wanna watch it) in the end ,none of the things that had happened was real.It was all a story that our heroine was writing. One of those endings that made you wanna throw things at TV!

      • 2.1.2 Cabbage

I’m hoping that Princy falls for Park-ha just enough to realize where his heart should have been back home, then he gets zipped back home to make things right. I’m also hoping that it WAS the princess who got killed, just so we know that she got killed.
And I’m hoping Tae-young shows up and *surprise surprise* there’s that girl I wanted to ask out back in NY! And she already sort of likes me, what good luck!

        • 2.1.2.1 shirin-noona

But Park Ha loves the prince, not Tae Yong.I don’t want them to be separated.

      • 2.1.3 Hillary

I definitely want the boys to remain in the future as well.

    • 2.2 Stacey

I was thinking that it was the princess’ sister who really got killed too and not the princess. Seeing her nature in her reincarnation, I could totally see her doing it. However, what would be her motivation? The prince thinks it was the princess who was killed. So who would kill the sister instead? She wasn’t a threat. Only motive might be jealousy, but she already had the prince’s love and attention. yeah … on second thought … maybe not a logical plot thread there. I really do hate how evil-doers in Kdrama always get away with things for so long. I wish that Park Ha would just out Se Na for the black soul she is. ugh.

      • 2.2.1 shirin-noona

Maybe she realized that she wasn’t her father’s real daughter, like she didn’t have noble blood or something.I don’t know,I’m not making any sense!:)

      • 2.2.2 mlsurban

Maybe there’s a joseon time Tae-mu who knocks her into the pond “accidentally” with his wooden cart.

        • 2.2.2.1 Sonia

This made me lol so hard. bahahaha

        • 2.2.2.3 shirin-noona

          HA HA HA!That was hilarious!

        • 2.2.2.4 Noelle

          LOL

        • 2.2.2.5 gg

          hahahaha nice one!!!!

        • 2.2.2.6 Pr1ncess61

O.M.G. Hahaha! That’s a good one! I laughed so hard! I wanted to watch Episode 1 again to see if there was a Tae Mu equivalent (is there one)? And I think it was the Crown Princess’s sister that died since we never saw the woman’s face that drowned in the pond. In Ep 7, the Crown Prince noted that Park Ha’s name also means pond lily. I think there’s a correlation in there somewhere. I’m bummed that there is no Ep 8 this week. Can’t wait for next week!

      • 2.2.3 Noelle

I think maybe Bu Yong was killed because of what she wished for. Her sister needed her to keep up the lie that she was more than just a pretty face. Maybe BY wanted to leave or get married. I still believe it was BY in the pond because it wouldn’t make sense if it was the Princess. Why would the butterfly leave her embroidery and land on Park Has shoulder in the present?

        • 2.2.3.1 shirin-noona

Yeah I think it was BY too,I mean there has to be a reason why they never showed her face, and that reason is it wasn’t really the princess.

          • 2.2.3.1.1 Shukmeister

I rewatched the first episode, and the clothing / hair decs and such were all the Crown Princess. But I guess that would be too obvious.

        • 2.2.3.2 Cruelsummer

I think it was BY as well. I also think that the same will happen in the future if the Prince doesn’t get his butt in gear.

          • 2.2.3.2.1 shirin-noona

            Exactly!That’s what I said!

        • 2.2.3.3 Noelle

Maybe she died somewhere else and they put her in the Princess’s clothing and then placed her in the pond. I believe there might be some kind of coup going on just like there is in the present.

    Good morning everyone!

      Good morning!

      • 3.1.1 Ivoire

        Hi Kewbie, how are you?

        • 3.1.1.1 kewbie

Doing well, thanks Ivoire — and yourself?

          • 3.1.1.1.1 Ivoire

I am doing good, thank you for asking :-)

    • 3.2 Mystisith

Hello Iv, what time is it at your place exactly?

      • 3.2.1 Ivoire

Bonjour Mysti, I have the exact time that is posted on the DB blog. What time is it at your place exactly? (how many hours ahead of us are you?) I hope all is well with you and with your daughter :-)

        • 3.2.1.1 Mystisith

For me it’s DB time + 9 hours, so OT starts at “15H30″.
Which daughter are you talking about? I’m afraid i don’t have one for now (unless there is a secret child hidden somewhere + me being amnesiac…).

          • 3.2.1.1.1 JoAnne

Now THAT’S a birth secret I’d love to see on a drama!

What? I have a daughter? I don’t remember giving birth…but there was that one year I don’t really remember well. Everyone told me I just slept a lot. Hmm…

          • 3.2.1.1.2 Shukmeister

            Oh oh!! Birth secrets!! lol

          • 3.2.1.1.3 Ivoire

I apologize then. I thought I remembered an OT where you mentioned having a 12 year old daughter. I guess I was mistaken. Again, I am sorry :-( . Honest mistake.

          • 3.2.1.1.4 Ivoire

            @ JoAnne, LOL!!!
The next question then becomes who took care of the baby while you were sleeping? The unni? The maid? The mother? The father? :-)

          • 3.2.1.1.5 Mystisith

It’s OK iv! And it made me laugh, so i won’t beat you! :) I’m always impressed with everything you can remember about all the persons here: Memory is not my forte. I’m the queen of post-its.

@ Ivoire , The person who took care of the child was Myst’s husband’s ex-girlfriend and first love, who had been in love with Myst’s husband forever, who is also the person that deliberately caused her accident ,leading her to have amnesia!:))

          • 3.2.1.1.8 Shukmeister

            Oooh that’s a good one too, S-Noona!

@ shirin-noona: Could you be kind enough and introduce me to that Madam? I would have 1 or 2 questions for her. And now i have to choose my weapon to settle the score. I love karma, it’s a great invention…

          • 3.2.1.1.10 shirin-noona

Mystisith unni, you can’t harm her. You’re the heroine of this drama, and if we go by Kdrama laws you’re like an angel.Ever so innocent and forgiving.
So this is how it goes, you’re gonna regain your memory, find your daughter, forgive that Madam and then live happily ever after with your husband and daughter!

Morning Cruelsummer, sorry I missed you earlier. Didn’t mean to :-(

    • 3.5 shirin-noona

      Good morning!

    • 3.6 cherkell

Bonjour Ivoire! Ma cherie, last week I neglected to give you the link to our local Paris Baguette outlets, so here it is: http://tinyurl.com/7ghlnoe. (BTW, the most awesome one is in Palo Alto, as it is a standalone store and not a tiny one in a strip mall like the one in Santa Clara). Anyone else have one in their neck of the woods?

For those of you who didn’t make the connection, Paris Baguette is a Korean-based fancy bakery company with those distinctive blue cake boxes you see on virtually all the K-dramas. If there’s a cake involved in a show, 9 times out of 10 it has been provided by Paris Baguette. And when Yoo Seung Ho had his car accident while filming WBDS last August, the crew brought him a PB cake when he returned to the set and that special blue box is in all the pictures of that happy event…

Anywho, Paris Baguette has started branching out into foreign markets (there’s stores in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania as well). The first ones in NorCal opened in early 2010 to great fanfare, and it’s quite difficult to get inside one on a weekend unless you’re carrying a crowbar to wedge your way in. Besides their absolutely gorgeous cakes and pastries, my hands-down favorite item there is the hot dog wrapped in puff pastry and baked to a crisp. Mmmmm… guess I now know what I’m getting for lunch today!! :)

      • 3.6.1 diorama

NorCal? Where? It’s really difficult to find legit pastry shops unless you’re in the bay area.

      • 3.6.2 Shukmeister

Interesting! I kind of wondered where they were based, since they were all over DH1.

      • 3.6.3 Noelle

        Where in NorCal?

        • 3.6.3.1 cherkell

There’s only two stores here so far — one on University in Palo Alto, and the other in Santa Clara on El Camino Real near Lawrence. The latter is the smaller of the two, located in that Galleria Market strip mall. I definitely plan to make a stop at one or the other tomorrow, as I’m craving some red bean buns big time! Drool…

      • 3.6.4 Ivoire

        Hello Cherkell,

I am so sorry to answer only now. I am getting ready to move again, and in the process I am trying to clean the apt I will be leaving. Thank you so much for your link about the “Paris Baguette.” I have visited the site and I remember passing in front of the one in Palo Alto. I believe the one in Palo Alto is on a corner, right? By that I mean that it covers two crossing streets, I believe… I was with a friend of mine when we passed by, she mentioned going there one day. She and I will still have to do that.

And thank you as well for the info regarding Paris Baguette, I didn’t know they originated in South Korea. How interesting (but not surprising) that they made their way into the Kdrama industry, managing to be featured in almost all of them. That reminds me of the donuts we kept seeing in the first few episodes of The king2hearts, LOL, it was like donuts overload and then people complained and that stopped. I guess South Koreans do not believe in subtlety when making product placements :-) .

Whenever I go to Paris Baguette (I am not sure yet when that will happen), I will think of you :-) .

    • 3.7 shirin-noona

      Mornin’ Iv!

      • 3.7.1 Ivoire

Mornin’ Shirin-noona, good to hear from you :-)

        • 3.7.1.1 shirin-noona

OMG!I sound like a very enthusiastic morning person, you know, with my posting good morning like a hundred times! It wasn’t my fault! There was something wrong with my computer! It seemed like it couldn’t post it!I’m so embarrassed!

          • 3.7.1.1.1 Ivoire

            Shirin-noona,
It’s Ok! I didn’t mind :-) And here I was, thinking that you liked me so much or was so excited to see my post that you had to greet me three times. I was already feeling so special, way to burst my bubble :-(

          • 3.7.1.1.2 shirin-noona

Hehe!Well here’s where you’re wrong! If I didn’t like you so much I would’ve given up posting good morning the first time.Having posted 100 good mornings (and in different ways!)despite the fact that my computer didn’t show them, actually shows how much I really like you:D

          • 3.7.1.1.3 Ivoire

            Ah Shirin-noona,
You do know how to warm your way into someone’s heart, don’t you :-) ? Hum… wonder where you learned that? Could it be all that Kdrama watching that taught you how to do the aegyo (acting cute and adorable)? Well, you got me :-) . You are back in my good graces and all is well with the world (my world) again :-)

    • 3.8 Ivoire

I have watched some of RTP (didn’t finish episode 7 yet) and I like it so far, but I am definitely enjoying TH2H, all the actors and LSG who just keep bringing it and matching the other actors with the quality of his acting. Kudos to all the other actors/actresses as well, such a great cast, from the main characters to the secondary ones. I am also loving the OST and the musical instrumental score, so good!!!! The cinematography as usual is awesome (the princess sitting with Shi-kyung on a view overlooking the background of what seems to be a city, Seoul, maybe?)

Is it just me or does the palace reminds you (outside, the front of it) of Gu Jun Pyo’s estate in BOF? It might not be the same because I remember Jun Pyo’s having colons in the front (I think) and this palace doesn’t. It does have a fountain however and Jun Pyo’s house had a fountain in the front of the house. Just really gorgeous, inside and out and the visuals are just breathtaking to me, really well done.

There were so many poignant scenes and moments in TK2H ep. 7 and 8 and I won’t try to list them all: the dad bowing to JH and his reaction to it, the phone call of the king before he died with his wife, the king laying his head on his wife’s lap (swoon, I love moments like that, quiet but so tender), the king and queen’s deaths of course, the princess accident, the princess singing to Shi-kyung and the way he looked at her, Hang Ah reactions to many things (money, interactions with the queen mother, her wanting to help when the king died), the princess paralysis and her reaction to it. So much of ep. 8 for me was somber, sad and moving, the funerals and watching JH go from carefree prince to take in charge king (bridge scene and others).
As I said, too many to list them all.

I have a question for you guys: I am trying to figure out on the pendulum of romantic progression (in Kdramaland) where JH is. We know that HA knows she is in love with JH and has basically admitted as such to him, his brother and her dad. She is not lying to herself. We also know that the hero usually doesn’t get there as fast as the heroine does. He denies it a lot at the beginning, has situations that make him feel sparks or interest in the heroine, though he is still blind to his feelings. The hero can deny his feelings for a long time but continue to fall deeper and deeper in love with the heroine until he finally admits to himself and to her that he loves her. There are of course variations of what I just said.
I am asking this because I am questioning JH motives for going through with the engagement. I know our OTP needs to be physically close for a while for those sparks/interest to continue to grow but we know why HA is doing it (the engagement), she is in love, it’s a given. JH started this thing thinking that it would go away in a few days when he made the announcement in the stadium. I also understand that situations have forced them there (her wanting revenge at first, then falling for him, then the kiss and they got caught, and now that the king is dead, it would be hard for her to leave at this very moment).
When asked by HA’s dad, if he loved her, JH didn’t answer, didn’t want to and didn’t seem committed and gave a “diplomatic” answer. But he still went ahead with the engagement and in my eyes he is still denying to others (and himself?) that he likes her, even though he asked her in episode 6, “and what if I do like you?”

So besides being a coward and wanting the easy way out and not facing the responsibilities of marriage (and marriage to a NK woman at that), on that pendulum of falling in love and acknowledging it in Kdramas for the hero, where do you guys think he is? He clearly cares about her, because he is bothered when he hurts her feelings and makes her cry and he acknowledges that he can be mean and put his foot in his mouth but still, I am not sure where he is at, and I can usually tell in what phase the hero is.
Why did he go along with the engagement (like deep down why did he do it)? He wasn’t enthusiastic about it. Did he think that somehow, he would figure out a way out of it again and then break up with her? Because he is also not the type to do what he doesn’t want to do.
I am aware that the king’s death kind of pushed him in HA’s arms since she was the one offering comfort (twice) and he slowly opened up to her, hopefully realizing that she was maybe the only one he could burden with his loss and grief (based on preview of ep. 9, that might not last). I know based on what we have seen so far, he is too overwhelmed to think about his feelings for her, but he is somewhere on that pendulum and I am just curious as to where, that’s all. I am trying to pinpoint the phase he is in and I can’t.

What do you guys think? Thank you for your input :-) I kind of like this mental exercise, where you have some clues and are trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

      • 3.8.1 Cruelsummer

I don’t think he knows what he feels either. I think he is afraid to get too close not only because she is North Korean, but because he doesn’t want to get hurt.

I believe he’s going through with the engagement because subconsciously he doesn’t want to be without her and consciously because they were caught in the act.

Now he’s gone and slept with her, so there’s no backing out now. But because he’s such an undecisive jerk, he’s going to find a way to break her heart again. I’m trying to prepare myself mentally not to hate him too much when this time comes.

        • 3.8.1.1 Ivoire

          Hi Cruelsummer,
I agree with all of your analysis. I would add that I think that JH might never have been in love or if he was (and was hurt in the past, which we don’t know), he might not be able to handle being in love in (a mature way) since he doesn’t like responsibilities and he tends to run at the first difficulty, which we see again in episode 9 when he gets in an argument with HA instead of trying to figure out why she reacting the way she is.
I guess both still have trust issues they have to work through, although based on what JH told HA in episode 9 (that he trusts her and believes in her), JH probably trusts her more than she trusts him. I was glad to see that JH confessed his feelings in ep. 9 although it seems that he quickly took them back when he said that she was easy to play with. Hum… we will see where things go. I wonder if he is still not aware that he likes/loves her.

      • 3.8.2 Ivoire

I have the same question for the prince in RTP, by the way. We know he likes Park Ha’s company and he seeks it. He acts protective of her at times and he provides for her (rootop house, big beach board, drinks he brings her, etc…). However his heart still seems to be committed to the princess wife, or maybe he’s just being loyal to her, because he’s starting to have sparks with Park Ha (maybe she likes him more than he does. She was the one daydreaming about the bracelet and upset when she saw who it was for, even though she hasn’t acknowledged to herself she likes him yet).
Where do you guys think he is on that pendulum?

      • 3.8.3 Rashell

I think that he already does like her, maybe even love her. But he’s such a little man-child that he’s nowhere near ready to admit to himself much less anyone else.

And that was before he was forced to becomce king. Now it looks like suspicion will fall on HA, and I’m not counting on JH being any support for her right now. He’s just go too much to deal with, and we know that he doesn’t have the maturity to even deal with half of it.

Similar to another poster, I’m just hoping he doesn’t become too big of an A$$ to recover. I’m already anticipating some serious groveling scenes.

Thank goodness HA has enough strength and maturity for both of them. He really doesn’t deserve her at this point, but he’s so lucky to have her. She’s going to finish what his Hyung started…she’ll make him a man and a king.

        • 3.8.3.1 Ivoire

          Hi Rashell,

Sorry this is so late but I just wanted to write a quick note to let you know that I appreciated your response and your analysis. I also thought like you that JH would not support HA, but we saw in ep 9 that he did in fact defend her and stood up for her. However, because they are being manipulated and lied to by the secretary, the very fragile foundation they have at the root of their love is easily being shaken. They haven’t known each other for very long and they still have trust issues stemming from ep 4 when he shot her, which was confirmed in the (bad) dream she had.

I liked what you said about HA making him a man and a king, although I would argue that the king part, he is doing well at it so far, it is the (romantic) man that has to grow and be more courageous, and that will come in time (Kdrama rule 101). As a man he has already shown that he is protective (of his mom, sister, fiancee) and he doesn’t show his weaknesses and his tears in front of them. He takes care of his people (family and country).

    • 3.9 Shukmeister

Bon jour, mon ami. That’s about all I know besides talking in a funny French accent…lol.

We had frost/freezing warnings in Virginia over the last couple of days. Summer, where are you? :-)

I hope everything is going well for you. I’m about 1/3 way through moving into the new place.

And, for the record, dont EVER believe a man who tells you his F-150 V8 gets great gas mileage…

      • 3.9.1 shel

Shuk…I think most times you could stop at “don’t ever believe a man”. Although, I will concede, not always. :0)

      • 3.9.2 Ivoire

        Hi Shukie,
Sorry this is so late. Did you have a bad experience with a man who told you that his F-150 was getting great gas mileage? Just wondering…

Are you all moved out and moved in by now?

    • 3.10 Ivoire

      Ok Peeps,
you should know by now that I always make an effort to answer to the responses to my responses (LOL). So, I will be back later because I didn’t comment on all the posts I wanted to comment on. So please, do be patient with me and if you remember, look for my screen name (and check the date and time to see that it is a new post) between today and Sunday.
I should be back, I have to go now. Enjoy your weekend :-)

  4. cherkell

Good morning/afternoon/evening (where applicable) fellow Dramabeaners! Minasan genkii desu ka? Hope everyone had nice Easter celebrations… or just wallowed in a basket of jelly beans like I did! I’ll start off with a Weather Report, since it has been nastier-than-usual, with a week full of monsoons and even a thunderstorm last night! You don’t get weather like that here in NorCal, but I do miss the thunder and lightning from when I lived back in the Midwest. Regardless, the hills are lush and verdant, with acres of daffodils, daylilies and California poppies sprouting up alongside the expressways. The dogwoods and cherry blossoms are pretty much pooped now, since the hard rains stripped most of the trees bare of blooms. Hope Shel’s hills are holding their own and not sliding into her patio right now! And that reminds me to get my vegetable seeds planted this weekend so they’re settled in for an early harvest. (Sorry, no veggie oil nor halo of lights or chocolate abs are involved in this round of planting. Darn it.)

Gotta hit-and-run as usual today, as I thought I was only covering two other desks during our local Spring Break Free-For-All, but got thrown another one on Tuesday because my manager conveniently ‘forgot’ to tell me this person was going to be out at the same time. Her actual words to me were that she was ‘worried I’d go to HR or someone else to report being overworked.’ Believe me, I would have done that very thing if we weren’t still going through the reorganization insanity and I don’t feel like rocking the boat right now. The Company has $600B in market capitalization, and they can’t afford a temp for 5 days? I call bullshit!

And because of my 18-hour days, music-listening and drama-watching was pretty non-existent this week. I have RP, K2H, EM and Running Man all queued up to plow through when I get a spare moment. I did finish up “Wild Romance” this week — meh. I couldn’t buy into the Muyeol-Eunjae relationship as a romantic one; they looked way better as bestest kidding-around buddies instead. Kinda went out with a whimper in the Finale, but I was sooo glad to see Manzzang wasn’t the one responsible for all the carnage committed over the 16 weeks. I figured his actions were red herring-like to protect his wife after all. And it was nice to watch another hot guy named Dong-soo again. :)

No new Changwook-ssi news to report, other than a bit of fangirl mayhem caused at Incheon as he was leaving for the filming site in Singapore last weekend. Granted, it wasn’t as bad as a JYJ saseng situation, but still rather annoying to hear there was some trouble involved with My Precious. Big Heavy Sigh.

Sorry gang — just got an emergency call from work and need to finish getting dressed and head over to the office RIGHT NOW. I’ll check in when I can. Enjoy your day — mata ne!

    • 4.1 kewbie

Happy Friday, and enjoy your day!

      Happy Friday!
did some fangirl get to close to chang wook!? (he’s such a cutie!) I hope he starts in another drama soon. I miss seeing his wonderful smile–melts ur heart. ^^

    • 4.3 shel

Happy Friday, Cherkell! Wet enough for you? I was up at midnight last night, watching the lightening show over the Bay. Pretty spectacular and very unusual for around here. I grew up on much bigger AZ thunderstorms, and haven’t seen one in quite a while. It was a treat. (Weird, I know….most people don’t like them)

Fortunately for me, my house is at the top of the hill. So my patio and house are safe from sliding mud. Although i guess the house, patio, etc could just all slide down together, lol. I’m mostly worried about the ground-squirrel mess at the bottom of the hill. They’ve made swiss cheese out of the bottom acre or two, and when the water runs into a hole at the top, and comes out a hole at the bottom, it carries an awful lot of sand with it. We have lots of clay deposits, or I suspect it would be even a bigger problem. Hubby has a $1 per squirrel bounty on the ground squirrels if anyone has an airgun and wants to give it a shot, lol.

      • 4.3.1 cherkell

I was up late too, but there are too many trees at my complex that prevented me from seeing any lightning streaks. Heard them, though — such a joyous noise!!

Shel, thank goodness the rains finally let up. I’ve spent the part 12 hours dealing with roof leaks and other weather-related damage… part of the Santa Rosa store’s roof actually fell in, so it’s been one big clusterf*ck of a day. But enough is enough.

So do I cry myself to sleep catching up on K2H Episode 8, or do I annoy myself to sleep watching DH2 episode 10, or do I grin like a clown to sleep viewing the SUFBB Special? Decisions, decisions… :)

    • 4.4 Fan

I know no one means any harm by this, but maybe we can change using the term ‘Dramabeaners’ to ‘Dramabeanies’, since the term ‘beaners’ is a derogatory word toward Mexicans. As a Mexican, seeing this term makes me uncomfortable even knowing that the beautiful community here means nothing by it.

      • 4.4.1 JoAnne

I know I’ve used the term here in the past and never given it a thought (and I should have, with a last name like Rodriguez) but I won’t make that mistake again. Thank you for pointing it out – I guess out of context it never occurred to me, and that would be because I MARRIED a Rodriguez (and then promptly left him, after producing a child who looks more Bennett than anything) so I don’t have that inherent cultural sensitivity. I do try, though, since my daughter really IS a Rodriguez. So really, thank you.

      • 4.4.2 cherkell

Jeungmal? My mistake — I didn’t know that ‘beaners’ was derogatory since I’ve never heard that term before. Guess one is never too old to learn something new — OT is a wealth of knowledge!

  5. kewbie

Good morning, all! Happy Friday the 13th! ;-)

Nothing much going on here in the ATL. Just some randomness…

    - Cried during both episodes of King2Hearts

    - Laughed at the Rooftop Prince OTP since they were so cute in ep 7

    - Speaking of Rooftop Prince, I saw that the radish doll/stuffed toy that Park Ha has is for sale at Yesasia.com for $36-ish dollars. I guess they figured that people would really want this radish toy! See here — http://bit.ly/HFySQX

    - I hate to say it but I got sucked into Love Rain. That ending scene in episode 5/beginning of episode 6 was epic. Yoona pwned Jang Geun Suk in 3 seconds, which is great because his current-day character (vs. his 70s character) is sort of an ass…haha. One other thing I have to say about the show…it IS beautifully filmed.

    - Wished a happy 24th/25th birthday yesterday to Lee Hyun Jae on his new-ish twitter account. I love being able to stalk/follow ALL the SUFBB guys now.

    - Speaking of LHJ, has anyone seen this teaser vid of his new solo (sort of) project? It’s a band called EDEN with the (hot) North Korean assassin dude from Hanbando/Korean Peninsula and another dude whom I never heard of before. Check it (the text is in Japanese) — http://youtu.be/iic78IY24jA

That’s it for now. Hope everyone is well!

    • 5.1 Mystisith

Hello kewbie! I love the stuffed radish of RP, and i love the stuffed sheep in Fashion King. Koreans seem to dig plushies a lot: So many teddy bears ! One more common point with me. :)

      • 5.1.1 kewbie

Yes, it’s very cute, isn’t it? It looks like a seal, kind of. hehe…

    • 5.2 shirin-noona

I thinks $36 for a stuffed radish doll is too much! But I’d probably buy one anyway!

      • 5.2.1 kewbie

I agree but it’s sooooo cute!!!

        • 5.2.1.1 cherkell

I think the way the ‘pig-rabbits’ flew off the shelf after being introduced in “You’re Beautiful” proves the power of the Marketing of the Plush Toys!! (I want a radish toooooo!!!)

          • 5.2.1.1.1 kewbie

OK, now I have to watch that drama just for the pig-rabbit. I’m too curious…hehe ;-)

          • 5.2.1.1.2 cherkell

LOL here it is in real life: http://tinyurl.com/24no7kf. But you should watch YB anyway — it’s DAEBAK!!!!! :D

          • 5.2.1.1.3 shirin-noona

kewbie you HAVE TO watch you’re beautiful. It’s great.Every time I want to introduce one of my friends to the amazing world of Korean dramas I suggest “You’re beautiful”. I have turned so many of my friends into Kdrama addicts just by that!:D

          • 5.2.1.1.4 kewbie

Thanks cherkell and shirin-noona — I’ll definitely have to put that in my drama queue now. :-)

          • 5.2.1.1.5 JoAnne

I think the pig rabbit is about the only thing I’d ever actually spring for, but not to buy online…if I saw it in a store it would be an impulse purchase. I could talk myself out of it, online.

    • 5.3 la dee dah

Oh, didn’t see your comment before I wrote mine. I got sucked in Love Rain, too. I agree with everything you said there! He’s such a jerk.. but I can’t help being interested in them getting together. Which is weird, because that’s one of the reasons I couldn’t get into Secret Garden. The guy in there was such jerk to the girl, so I just couldn’t see what she saw in him. So I don’t know why I feel differently about the couple in Love Rain.

  6. la dee dah

    Happy Friday!

Is anyone still watching Love Rain? The first four episodes, I know they were slow for a lot of people. And his hair… shudder… but I actually found it interesting. I sometimes like slow dramas (to contrast the fast lively dramas I’m watching, like Rooftop Prince). JKS was believable as the weak timid quiet guy, a character I wasn’t used to seeing him act as (of the things I’ve seen). Yoona was less convincing as her quiet counterpart, she seemed blank most of the time. And the way the drama is shot is gorgeous! There were some parts I didn’t like, like how the friends acted towards them when they found out about them (really, a fight.. on the tennis courts??).

And when they moved to modern times with the 5th and 6th episodes, it got really good! JSK’s new character is such a jerk, but he plays a jerk so well! And Yoona improved, maybe because her character was livelier. And again, the scenery was gorgeous!! The storyline is becoming interesting, too! I think this will be my side drama apart from Rooftop Prince.

    • 6.1 kewbie

Oh thank you! Yes! In episodes 5 and 6 it got so much better in Love Rain! JGS’s character is an ass but thank goodness Yoona’s character is cheeky enough to put him in place. That scene in the hot spring was awesome. You could see that he was falling in love with her right then and there, and now he’s just going to be frustrated until he realizes that he’s in love with her, which, to me, seems like it’s not going to take too, too long. I wonder if their parents will meet?

      • 6.1.1 la dee dah

Yes, the hot spring scene, you could see in his face that he was unnerved when she did his 3-second move. Plus the snow around them and the steam from the hot spring… I know a lot of people don’t really like JGS anymore because of his attitude, but he really is a good actor, and he’s committing to this character!

As for the parents, I think they will eventually meet. I think I saw in the previews them crossing each other on the crosswalk, with the dad turning back because he thought he recognized her (though he thinks she’s dead).

        • 6.1.1.1 kewbie

Yes, I saw that, too. I didn’t get, though, if Seo Joon (JGS)’s parents are divorced. It kinda looks like it, right? The dad seems to live in a different place from the mom. I also wonder if Ha Na (Yoona)’s mom is married or divorced or widowed or what. I saw in the preview that she catches sight of Seo Joon for a moment. Can’t wait until Monday already…

    • 6.2 aoiaheen

Some one else is watching Love Rain! Yippee! I actually watched ep 5 and 6 last and liked it. It’s slow and a little old fashioned (innocent girl/player boy – again?) but it was so cute.

I loved how she decorated his bathroom like a ghost would. I like the chemistry. I’ll probably watch this till the angst kicks in. (ep 10 probably?)

    • 6.3 Sonia

I’m so glad more people are enjoying Love Rain. I loved the first four episodes too; it had it’s own charm, but now the story is getting even better. And I totally agree with you about the cinematography, it’s gorgeous.

  7. TiaC

    Hello all!

So I haven’t been able to come play in the OT for a while. How is everyone else feeling about 12 men in a year? I was kind of disappointed, especially since I have loved most other tvn dramas (of course except manny. Shudders.)

SPOILERS AHEAD! So wtf was up with the ending? As much as I liked how the pairings ended up, since I like Lee Joon a hell of a lot more than Jin Oh, why did the show spend so much time emphasizing how Mi Roo and Jin Oh regretted their break up? The last episode was so much fun- why couldn’t we have had more sexy fun times between Mi Roo and Lee Joon? Argh! At least I have INR2 this summer to look forward to.

    • 7.1 kewbie

Yeah I was confused a little by the ending. Mi Roo and her ex should have had that talk in an earlier episode so that the last episode would have been the ex and that other lady talking about theirs. I’m so glad Mi Roo ended up with Lee Joon, though, because I liked him for her from the very beginning.

    • 7.2 isnin

Watched 12 men in a year – UGHHHHH
WTF was up with the ending?
The Tanya storyline was more interesting by the end.
I did like that Mi Roo ended up with pervy Lee Joon.

Watched Hotaru no Hikari – cute but utterly forgettable.
Tried to watch Hotaru no Hikari 2…..but found it uninteresting.

Watched Running Man (of course) with BoA & Jung Jae Hyung. The funniest part was the Genie as played by Julien Kang! I still can’t tell if he’s dumb or good at PLAYING dumb! So funny to see someone else as tall as Gwang Soo and just as dorky.

Watched Fondant Garden – still in love with Kingone Wang ….still think Park Jung Min looks like a marionette.

Watched Strong Heart #123-124 YG SPECIAL with Big Bang. My kpop love for Big Bang is still going strong.

Watched Strong Heart #125 with the new MCs.
Lee Dong Wook is good at interjecting his ZINGERS into the conversation!
I thought it was funny how Boom showed blow-ups of the headlines & how he got all excited ….thinking he might get a chance to MC strongheart & how deflating to his ego it was that he didn’t get it after all.
Shin dong Yup? hmmmmm not feeling the charisma yet.

      • 7.2.1 trotwood

I watched Twelve Men in a Year (or The 12 Signs of Love, according to hulu.com) and I was also rally frsutrated with the ending.I could have used more of Tanya and th young barista and less (or more explanation) of Tanya and her mother. I did like that the main couple did not get back together, but HATED that the mother got back together with the husband. What is with K-dramas?!?!? If a person is over 45, they are stuck with a philandering husband? She is far more interesting than that All he has to do is take some tango lessons and that makes up for years of two-timing her. I was shouting at my screen!

        • 7.2.1.1 JadeL

@trotwood: I could pretty much copy and paste what you just said. That is exactly what I was thinking, pretty much point by point :) .

Throughout the story I liked Tanya as a character and the actress more than Mi Roo. I didn’t realize ep. 16 was the last one until I almost got whiplash from how they were rushing to close as many loose endings as possible.
I enjoyed the drama a lot, though. I wish it had more of a following.

    • 7.3 DeeDee315

I enjoyed 12 Men. It kept me interested. Not sure why it’s received so little press and blog coverage. Acting was solid & story was ok. Guess that’s what happens with cable dramas. As much as I enjoy Kdramas, 9/10 the endings fail to live up to expectations for myriad reasons.

  8. Cruelsummer

    Hi All!
This week has been a bear. Between hormones, Nell’s new album (which is devastatingly awesome) and K2H I’ve been a blubbering mass of tears, covered in snack crumbs. K-Entertainment is seriously doing a number on my heart.

I’m embarrassed of how much I know about Kpop right now. I can count on one hand the songs that I actually like, but gosh if those kids aren’t the cutest things in the World. This really bothers me because in my adolescence I didn’t get into New Kids on the Block, Backstreet, or Nsync and I could care less about what they do in their personal time. Now I’m picking favorites and knowing names. It has to be some kind of quarter-life crisis. I feel shame.

Speaking of shame: Love Rain. OMG! Episode 5 and 6 are just bus loads of awesome covered in spectacular. I am so onboard as long as they never again make any reference to ‘Love Story’. JGS is hot again. Yoona is doing a fine job. I’ve got a Monday-Tuesday show to watch while I wait for the crack that is K2H. All is right with the World.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!

    • 8.1 kewbie

*hi-5* for Love Rain episodes 5&6. I know right?? :-)

      • 8.1.1 la dee dah

Agree about Love Rain! The new hair is working on JGS. Though I think they did make a reference to Love Story in Episode 6, when he went to see her and give her the clothes he bought for her – he told her he never says sorry… but it was kinda subtle and not “hammer over the head”.

        • 8.1.1.1 Akiddo

Finally, Love Rain is picking up some much needed pace. I am looking forward to the new episodes on Monday and Tuesday! But plot wise – where is the twist? The premise for the respective parents’ break up was quite weak. There is no major secret going on unlike Winter Sonata or Autumn in my heart. Love Rain is supposed to be a melodrama. From ep 5 onwards – it looks more like a rom com. The PD and writer don’t seem to have a clear direction. The cinematography is fantastic though, feels more like a movie than tv drama.

Going to start on Roof Top Prince and king 2 Hearts soon! I have been accumulating the episodes to get a kick out of having a k drama marathon!

          Have a great weekend everyone!

          • 8.1.1.1.1 Cruelsummer

Perhaps the twist will come from parental interference. JGS’s Mom doesn’t seem like she’ll take too kindly to her ex-hubby’s first love coming back into the picture. Maybe she’ll do something grody like convincing JGS that Yoona is the offspring of that first love and that they are in fact siblings. 70′s Yoona left and went to the States because she was knocked up by 70′s JGS (I’m sorry I can’t remember the names) and Yoona is their kid together. Their love would be halted by this lie, only to be revealed in the end. I don’t know…just guessing.

          • 8.1.1.1.2 Sonia

I don’t think we have seen the end of the parents. I feel like we will get to know a little more about how the parents eventually completely separated, and how Yoona’s mom married the guy’s friend (don’t know his name) if she did. (I think the teasers said that, but I am not quite sure.) With the premise already set, I am sure there will be conflicts to come, but I hope it’s nothing like Winter Sonata and Autumn in my Heart, I don’t want any pseudo-insest story even if it is just a lie.

          • 8.1.1.1.3 Cruelsummer

Gah…I don’t want it either, but I’m always bracing myself for the worst.

    • 8.2 cv

      Happy friday cruelsummer!

Kpop—yup. I know more singers/idols than the singers here in the UStates. lol I think they are more unique in style and fashion. Some are really out there and stands out.

I’m glad to hear that Love Rain is good and not so melo. yay! Maybe it’s just melo the first part–70s and rom com the second parts!? (cross fingers) LOL

      • 8.2.1 Cruelsummer

I hope you’re right about the second half being rom-com. K2H has just about all the drama I can stand right now.

    • 8.3 thunderlyn

Cruelsummer, I have the same embarrassing relationship with kpop right now. I’m a 28 year old lady with a bunch of kids for goodness sakes, and I never got into any boy groups when I was younger either, but dang it if I don’t stifle a little girl squeal whenever it’s Siwon’s turn.

      • 8.3.1 cv

        LOL
        *siwon* —(girly squeal!)
Does age matter? 0_0 cuz…. most of the kpop band I like are all younger than me.. :-( well…except for shinwa. ^^

        • 8.3.1.1 Cruelsummer

Everyone keeps saying that it doesn’t, but I’m seriously about to hit my mid-30′s, so I’m feeling some kind of way about this fascination of mines. Or I could just be feeling old in general. I’m trying to come to terms with this.

And Shinwa…*sigh*…my one saving grace. I can drool and catcall with no remorse.

          • 8.3.1.1.1 Shukmeister

I saw Shinhwa’s performance on Music Bank two weeks ago – loved it!! I also fell in love with M4 and especially the song they sang on the show “Even If Love Leaves”

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaijAdpO8R4

And I turned 46 two weeks ago, ;-)

          • 8.3.1.1.2 shel

I’m a big fan of some kpop….my daughter is a rabid SS501 fan (and of all their solo efforts) so we listen to all of that. I’ve moved her along to CN BLue and SHinhwa, both of which I enjoy. And we have one Lee Seung Gee album….I think I like more than she does, though.

          • 8.3.1.1.3 Stacy

Hah! Got you beat – I’m 42! Like you said before, I never got into boy bands in the past. I did my fair share of eye-rolling, disdainful snorting, and nose-in-the-air posturing in days of yore LOL. Nope, New Kids on the Block, N’Sync, BSB, etc couldn’t hold a candle to MY loves – Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Poison, White Lion, Ratt, Cinderella, Twisted Sister….

Now look at me. I buy Big Bang albums with posters and make my daughter hang ‘em on her wall so I can go in her room and look at them….

          • 8.3.1.1.4 shel

Stacy…I’m 53….so I’ve gotcha all beat. And, granted, I’d rather listen to Pink Floyd most of the time, I don’t mind my daughter’s Kpop at all. We have a bunch on our “housecleaning” playlist, which is a weird mashup of 70′s rock, kpop, 40s swing and 60′s sock hop music. All of it upbeat to keep us moving.

          • 8.3.1.1.5 Shukmeister

            @ Stacy –

When I was in High School, I listened to the Dead Kennedys and early punk, and wore red plaid and black eyeshadow. Then I somehow morphed into Southern Rock in college. Now I have Rachmaninoff right next to Lee Seung Gi…

      • 8.3.2 Cruelsummer

Thank you! Now I don’t feel so bad.

        • 8.3.2.1 cv

LOL me too! yay!!! age really is just a number. I feel so young at heart… like going backward in years instead of forward. :D

      • 8.3.3 kewbie

Word! Don’t get me started on any of those dudes with abs…which is like almost all of them. haha…

    • 8.4 JoAnne

Oh God. KPop. Boy Bands, I love you. Some of you. Girl Bands, nope. Not so much.

But I will sit grinning slack-jawed and giggling like a lobotomized inpatient while I watch 17 different versions of Fantastic Baby or Come Back to Me Part 2 or I Was Wrong (Extended version) or Even You or Marry Me or any one of a dozen OST tracks to decide juuuuust which one is the best sound quality/video quality to include in my playlists.

      • 8.4.1 Cruelsummer

Stop feeding the beast! *runs off to Youtube*

        • 8.4.1.1 JoAnne

These guys are in heavy rotation for me: Big Bang, Rain, Se7en, Nell, Shinhwa, Teen Top, 2PM, 2AM, Lee Seung Gi, Jung Chul, Mad Soul Child, Tablo, CNBlue, Kim Hyun Joong (and some SS501)…

          • 8.4.1.1.1 Mystisith

I discovered Tablo’s “Tomorrow” recently, and feel like the cars in the MV: I keep coming back to the crime scene.

          • 8.4.1.1.2 cv

yesh! I’ve listen to all of them… some more than others. :D Big bang, tablo, 2am, kimhJoong, rain, se7en, ftlsland….can’t get enough. lol

          • 8.4.1.1.3 JoAnne

            Ok, listen….

I keep my playlist private, I dunno know why but I just did….and I can’t figure out how to share it with my dongsaeng so I’m just going to unprivate it.

Look for me on Youtube as 1101JROD; the playlist is Korea.

          • 8.4.1.1.4 Thunderlyn

JoAnne, I know I’m a bit late, but thanks for the share…I’ve been looking for a good playlist like this, without having to make my own :)

      • 8.4.2 kewbie

You know, the only girl idol group I really listen to is SNSD, because my 5-year-old loves their music. Seriously. I admit, some of SNSD’s older stuff is catchy, and after they showed “Genie” in K2H ep 3, I started to listen to them more. Plus attempting to do the dances with my kid is pretty fun. :-)

        • 8.4.2.1 Cruelsummer

My 8 year old daughter loves them too. We act silly in the car to Gee and Genie.

      • 8.4.3 thunderlyn

I’m had to go check out those songs too! never heard half of those. Thanks!

    • 8.5 kewbie

Man I totally missed that you mentioned Nell’s new album. It’s fantastic. I know that Nell tends to write on the more melancholy side of the spectrum but boy, they really do it well — for both lyrics and music. After hearing one of their earlier songs (from 2001) I actually feel like buying some of their older stuff, too. Right now I only have their current album, and “Separation Anxiety” from 2008, which has one of my favorite songs, “Drifting Apart” (멀어지다).

      • 8.5.1 Cruelsummer

I love it so much. I’m devoting my weekend to find more of their music. I’m a big Radiohead fan, so this is right up my alley. Kim Jong-wan’s voice is so clean…beautiful. I’m thankful to whomever posted the video teaser during the last OT.

Can I just say OT is the best place ever. I feel like such an awkward turtle in my real-life environment because I am certain that no one would understand my current obsessions. It’s nice to have a haven where people understand.

        • 8.5.1.1 kewbie

Oh yes, that was me who posted the teaser. I was (mentally) drooling when I saw Min Ki, that’s why — and I couldn’t contain myself! haha…

I know what you mean about sharing your obsessions. You have no idea how excited I was when I met a Korean lady at my kids’ school today and I inadvertently and immediately bombarded her with k-drama stuff and k-music. Thank God she wasn’t put off by it. I think she was more amused at my fangirling than anything. ;-)

          • 8.5.1.1.1 Cruelsummer

One of my co-workers is Korean and we are very friendly, but I wouldn’t dare ask her about anything. I’m afraid she’ll think I’m a huge dork. I think she already suspects that I have a problem, lol. She looks at me as if she’s expecting me to fangirl at any moment, lol.

          • 8.5.1.1.2 Cruelsummer

And seriously…that’s the prettiest I’ve ever seen Minki and that’s quite a feat because the man is perpetually pretty.

          • 8.5.1.1.3 kewbie

Haha well if you think she’s expecting you to fangirl, what would be the harm? She’d be prepared. :-) I think my saving grace with that lady at my kids’ school was the fact that I mentioned BIGBANG and she said her daughter likes them, too. I also showed her my iPod (oh yes I did!) and she recognized a few of the songs from the Wild Romance soundtrack. Yeah, I guess you can say that I have no shame left. hahah…

I think whatever you talk about with your co-worker can’t be as out there as what I did in less than 10 minutes with the lady I met today. If she doesn’t avoid me next week when I see her again, then I’ll be relieved! If she does, then I’ll just have to limit my k-drama/k-music talk to here. Ah well.

  9. shel

I JUST realized that it’s Friday, lol. Sitting here listening to the rain. I have to run my daughter out to her stupid state testing thing, but I’ll be back later to see what’s going on.

I hope you all had a great week!

    Happy Friday!!!!

who is in love with King2heart? I know i am. Haven’t watch the last 2 ep yet.. .will do so tonight…

i am actual liking the other 2 wed drama.. Rooftop prince make me laugh and that equator man makes my heart twist and sink.. both leads in EM is acting their hearts out.. but i do say that it’s very dark and heavy..

I am so excited all the new drama this summer.. Gong Yoo!!!! Lee Jun Ki!!!! and Lee Min Ho!!! it’s gonna be a busy summer in dramaland… I really looking forwards to see GY and LJK.. GY in Rom Com… and pair up with LMJ in Hong Sister drama.. sign me up…

the sun is shinning here.. so it’s gonna be a good day.

    • 10.1 shirin-noona

Yeah I agree, this summer is going to be AWESOME! I can’t wait to see my Gong Yoo in a drama again.A drama by the Hong sisters!Yay:)

I JUST realized that it’s Friday, lol. Sitting here listening to the rain. I have to run my daughter out to her stupid state testing thing, but I’ll be back later to see what’s going on.

Loving the current shows: K2H, FK, and RTP.

I hope you all had a great week!

    • 11.1 shel

Stupid computer….now I”ve double posted. Oh well.

      • 11.1.1 shirin-noona

        LOL,hi shel,how have you been?

      • 11.1.2 shel

Doing good, mostly. Crazy week this week. I’m finding that the 2 months of convalescence hanging out in my LaZBoy chair seriously sapped my stamina. I get tired way too easily, but I’m just trying to go with the flow and not get too overscheduled.

    • 11.2 cherkell

Shel, be safe out there. A normal 5-minute trek to Bubb Road took me close to 30 minutes instead because of all the localized flooding. Drive carefully!!

      • 11.2.1 shel

Yeah, we’re having some major flooding issues out here in the sticks. Castroville Blvd in front of the high school is a lake….Hwy 1 between 156 and Marina has so many big puddles that between the heavy downpour and all the trucks whizzing by, my windshield wipers were barely cutting it. That was at about 5:30 this morning when we were on our way to my daughters religion class. It stopped raining at 7:30-8 long enough for me to get the kids to the testing site. But, it’s on Hwy 68, which is a mess already due to construction, then you add rush hour traffic and wet roads. Not fun. I don’t envy hubbie’s commute into Milipitas this morning. DAys like this, he really misses the Apple bus.

    • 11.3 shel

      SO. actual news.

We had 13 kids over for Easter Egg hunt last Sunday night. Very noisy, but fun. I’m still finding jellybeans in odd places, though, lol.

Houseguests accepted a job in Las Vegas and will be leaving on Wednesday. They’ve been here almost a month, they feel like family so it’ll be sad to see them go. But, it’s a good opportunity so I’m happy for them.

Our 11 year old Dodge Intrepid gasped it’s last. Now to find a replacement and I hate car shopping. We rented my husband a Fiat 500, cuz he used to drive one in Italy a million years ago. He was kind of excited, but after driving it a couple of times has decided that it’s not any better than the one he drove in Italy, lol. We won’t be shopping for one of those, lol.

My law-school son got one summer internship in Santiago, Chile and the other here in Monterey. Yay! They’ll be with us for almost two months. His little sister is crazy/excited and so are we.

K2H is making me cry way too much, but I’m loving it. RTP has me laughing out loud. FK isn’t bad, but I’m a die-hard Ah In fan, so I’m gonna stick it out even though it’s not great. Same with Love Rain….the photography is beautiful, so we’ll see if I can stand the story. I hate mahkjong, so we’ll see….

Raine: I have a video for you. I was surfing you tube…can’t remember what I was looking for and found this video of Sting, Yo Yo Ma and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at the 2002 Olympics opening ceremony. I loved it when I saw it, but you were probably just an itty bitty at the time, lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIRS2t3pPFE&feature=related

Ricky: I hope you’re doing well, and studying hard. Keep fighting!

JoAnne: thanks for the good luck wishes. We could use them.

Shuk: Loving the story so far…..can’t wait for the next installment.

Cherkell, Ivoire and any other NorCal buddies…don’t drown in all this water and drive safely.

      • 11.3.1 diorama

Thanks…pray for my commute! Yesterday was like blind driving on the highway because of the rain (>.<) I was just thinking "I'm surrounded by rain", and then immediately thought Rain Bi, lol. Made the drive instantly more fun.

      • 11.3.2 shel

And Sethe! This is the 2nd week we haven’t seen her. I hope all’s OK and she’s just found a hot guy or something.

      • 11.3.3 Ivoire

        Hi Shel,
briefly skimmed your post so will have to come back to it later. I hear you on the rain though, phew… I know we need it, but man, “When it rains, it pours, huh…” how appropriate is that?
Alright, be and stay safe, same goes for Cherkell (will answer your post later about the Paris Baguette, I haven’t forgotten).

    • 11.4 kewbie

Hello shel! When you said, you’re listening to the rain, I immediately thought, oh, you’re listening to RAIN (Rain that’s in the army right now, Rain with the abs of steel). haha… K-dramas, k-pop have taken over my brain! Hope your day is going well. :-)

  12. 12 cv

    Happy Friday! :)

How’s everyone? Back from visiting families out of town. Had lots to catch up on here and watching dramas–yesterday got only 3 hours of sleeep. yikes! not good but I’m finally catched up on all the dramas I want to see. hehehe It was worth it!

    • 12.1 cv

So last night, I finally started Can love turn to money–first and second episodes– interesting so far. I’m hoping subs for the rest of the current episodes get done soon so I can watch it. Please show, don’t dissappoint me! I have some sort of idea where the show is heading…but who knows, I like to be surprised. ^^

      King2H: so far so goood.

Rp: I like. Hilarous. no wonder it surpass k2h in rating.

FK: Surprisely, not bad. Main leads so cut together. :)

      • 12.1.1 jomo

I have also watched CLBM and I am totally in love with it.

I have been downloading the unfinished subs, watching the raws on tudou with the .txt file open below. It is confusing, but since the dialog and plot are straightforward, I have been sortuv getting MOST of it. Everything was fine with this system ep 11/12 won’t play. Since I don’t understand Chinese, I can’t figure out how to find it!

I love this show and can’t wait till it is fully subbed!

        • 12.1.1.1 Shukmeister

I’ve watched a few raw videos and I’m hoping some kind soul will sub them – it looks really really good!

          • 12.1.1.1.1 cv

yesh.. i hope so too! been waiting… so far, only dramacrazy got the first 2 episodes up. This one will have to wait until it’s all subbed before I go bac and watch it. :)

  13. 13 syer

Just finished watching ep 7 of The King 2 Heart and still crying…. sob22222

    • 13.1 syer

I had a terrible week.. Just came back from vacation in Krabi..but the earth quake and tsunami warning spoilt all my plan and I have to cancel everything. I don’t want to take any risk and left Krabi immediately but thanks God everything is alright. I definitely will come back.. wait for me…

      • 13.1.1 kewbie

That sucks that you had to cut your vacation short. I’m glad everything is alright on your end, though!

    • 13.2 cv

Yes… this one was sad. Climax that will change how the king acts. Can’t wait til next week when the baddie shows up and I hope that the King is smart enough to figure out who killed his brother and sister inlaw–since we know already. LOL
It’s going to get serious but I hope there will be some cute stuff and love between the two leads. :)

No matter how much i want to claw SN's face off with a blunt object i'd make her tell me where she buys her clothes before i do it.

    • 14.1 kewbie

It’s funny you say that. Why are the evil female characters always so stylish? I want to know where Se-na buys her clothes, too. She even has decent accessories. Sheesh.

      • 14.1.1 Shukmeister

        Dino!!

Why do bad girls wear great clothes?? Why???

  15. 15 Yasmin

Loving reading the recaps to both RTP and K2H at the moment. I have a couple of theories about RTP but wouldnt it be awesome if tae yong showed up in joseon times and started acting as king..or him coming back to the present and both him and lee gak fighting for park ha? That’d would be so cool cos then lee gak would realise that he likes her too!
For K2H really liked ep 7 and 8 but I think its next week that will determine whether this show is solid or not. Everything up until now has been sort of predictable, I’m not going to spoil, but its how the story goes on from here that im really interested in seeing..

    • 15.1 Cabbage

I wondered about that, too. Is he just in suspension till the end of the drama? Is it going to be a Meet Joe Black moment, where Claire Forlani has to pretend that none of that happened?

  16. 16 topper

    Happy Friday Dbeaners!
Currently watching High Kick 3 to get rid of some of that gutted feeling away after watching TK2H. I died plenty (from my drama lifespan keke) together with the king hyung and queen. Jae Shin’s struggle with pride in the hospital, Jae Ha’s finally crying after Bo Peep Bo Peep. It’s becoming a tour de force if the quality carry on.
Okay off I go back to some laughing.

  17. 17 nuri

    Happy Friday all!

Loving this week King 2hearts and Seunggi! just read recap, haven’t got time to even watch raw.

Envy my friends that went to Seoul this week. Need to start saving and keep my eagle eyes to look for the cheapest promo flight. Is there anyone native Seoul/Korea? Which place you’ll recommend for first timer like me? also who have been to Korea? Any crazy experience you’d like to share?

Due to easter weekend and no subs for the Marriage Plot, I have lots of time last weekend so I tried Japanese Drama. I really like Long Vacation and I LOVES Love Shuffle. Long vacation is nothing new but Kimura Takuya at his best appearance, he didn’t turn a hot ajusshi ala Cha Seung Won. Love Shuffle is feel like fresh air for me. I start to get used to all the k-drama cliche and love shuffle is crazy enough for me. Not overly comical like Nodame (which I don’t like). Still, I know my hearts is with Korean drama when in some (supposedly) dramatic scenes I’ll cry “you’re not doing it right”, Korean really know how to pull drama!

What’s up, John? How is everything in VA? You’re in VA, right?

      • 18.1.1 John

        Hi kewbie.

Sunny here in VA, 60′s today, looking at 70′s -80ish for the weekend.

Work, it interferes with drama watching and OT’ing.

My wife and I transferred some of our on going mead projects yesterday (blueberry and a raspberry ). Had a sip, it’s still not ready, but , wow, rather tasty, and has a bit of a kick.

The raspberry has a ways to go yet, another couple of months or so. The wife tranferred the blueberry while I was at work, so I didn’t taste that.

I’ll have to locate some flagons, that’s what they’d have used in medival times right?

        • 18.1.1.1 jomo

Cool! Mead makes me think of all the historical fiction about Wales/England conflicts I have read.
Isn’t mead a honey sweetened drink?

I guess flagons come in all shapes and materials.
Here are the current ebay search results:

          http://www.ebay.com/sch/Bottles-Insulators-/29797/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=flagon

          • 18.1.1.1.1 John

            jomo~

Yes, it made with honey, as per Wikipedia, referred to a honey wine. We have several trial batches brewing.

Funny thing is we got interested in making mead after seeing honey water offered as a hangover cure (?) in a couple of k-dramas.

We also have some “lemon wine” brewing as well. Summer is going to be interesting.

Have to get busy in the backyard, we took out the old wooden deck and are going to put in paving stones for a patio.

When finished , we’ll have a patio to sit on to enjoy these adult beverages. Lots of digging in my immediate future.

          • 18.1.1.1.2 Shukmeister

            Just remember, John:

The pellet with the poisons in the flagon with the dragon! The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true!

        • 18.1.1.2 kewbie

Sounds interesting. Do you make mead often? I don’t know the first thing about mead or where to buy a flagon, but just a cursory look online tells me you’d probably need to find a specialty store of some kind if you wanted to buy them. Or, you could put them in wine bottles, right? Or is there a particular way of storing them?

          • 18.1.1.2.1 John

This is our first attempt at mead making. Yes, we do have wine bottles.

The flagon thing was a bit of a jest, because you’d need serving wenches if you had flagons right?

We have been making fermented tea , ( Kombucha ) and Kefir, (another fermented drink).

Hi John! what’s ur take on Love Rain?

rating is low for this one…but hear it’s getting better.

      • 18.2.1 John

        CV~

I’ve watched up to Ep. 5. The modern day story is a bit livelier (so far) than the 70′s episodes.

Cute girl, guy who thinks he’s a lady killer , we’ll see how that works out.

        • 18.2.1.1 cv

Nice! nice! good to hear. I can’t stand a weak main lead. LOL glad to hear the modern day is better. If it keeps up this way, it’s gonna be awsome to marathon when all the episodes are out and subbed. ^^

  19. 19 Shiku

    Happy Friday Everyone!

This week I watched ep 2-16 of God of War and it’s fabulous. From it’s hunger games style gladiator fused polo games to its ensemble cast of veteran actors/actresses. I know it’s 50 eps but the story is engaging and historically accurate. Isn’t it better than watching 4 mediocre shows?

    @Trixicopper the games were awesome!!!!!!!!

    • 19.1 chasen8888

You are not the only one shiku. I enjoy this drama a lot and was wondering why very few people were talking about it. It was sad that Wol A died but I understand it was necessary to move Gim Jun’s story. Its an improvement from Gwangetto, the Great Conqueror, which started well in the beginning but has messed up in future episodes, hence no more watching but reading the interesting comments from daunte29 at soompi. I hope this show does not follow that path and continue to be engaging and fun.

      • 19.1.1 Shiku

I haven’t watched Gwangaetto and not planning to as I heard unflattering opinions about the show. I was sad she died too and am furious at the maid as I can’t believe a woman would do that to another woman when they are basically in the same position in society. They guy the maid likes, Yangbaek has told her plenty of times he doesn’t like her over and over and then she does this. *shakes my head at Chisum*

    • 19.2 diorama

Yes yes yes! Finally someone else who’s watching God of War. I’ve never picked up a 50-episode saguek before but this one is so intense and fiery that I don’t even notice the length. BTW, I’m totally shipping Kim Jun and Song Yi; Wol A the Weeping Willow is far too…meh.

      • 19.2.1 Shiku

Me too! I really like Kim Jun and Song Yi as they have a fantastic relationship and she is able to make him better by giving him advice and helping him while he is able to make her realize that even slaves are people. Weeping willow was okay but too much crying but she got better and a little stronger as the episodes went on.

    • 19.3 belleza

      I’m up to Episode 15 of God of War . . .

So far, this is easily the best drama I’ve seen this year. The first 10 episodes rivals Tree with Deep Roots. I’m tempted to say it’s better because slave-master the Spartacus element means that even the well-meaning “good royals” have a level of condescension toward our hero. The show is dark, gritty, and sad. I love the Buddhist asides in God of War. It frames the story against a moral perspective.

Chemistry between Kim Joo-hyuk and Kim Kyu Ri is phenomenal. After the “blood polo” (OMG — the hardest part for me was watching the horses fall), they’ve had few scenes directly together . . . but you forget everything else. Some people have come down hard on Song Yi, but I argue that you have to consider the slave-master relationship. This is essentially a reverse-What Happened in Bali scenario.

    • 19.4 trixicopper

Why yes, the games were awesome, yes they were. :) I’m loving this show. I’m one of those who doesn’t care how long a show is if I like it.

My problem is I’m having a really hard time liking the Song-yi character. She is a smart ,strong female, which is good. But she was obviously absent the day they passed out the empathy/compassion gene. And she went back for seconds of selfish.

      • 19.4.1 belleza

That’s actually why I like her character. It’s necessary because he is literally “beneath” her, not merely in terms of class, but also caste. I also love how it influences how she falls in love with him. She emotionally holds onto this image of him fighting in the games for her, like a classic knight-princess fairy tale, and that she discovered his lowly slave’s potential. Fundamentally, he is her beloved possession. She may be in love with him, but she only sees him as a man (rather than a sub-man/slave) when it is convenient.

By virtue of her status and his, she can be seriously threatening to him. When her jealousy flares in front of him, you can sense the fear from him, which he does not share against any assassin.

I love the above dynamic, and the acting just nails everything. Their relationship reminds me of What Happened in Bali, except that the roles are reversed.

        • 19.4.1.1 trixicopper

I’m not sure what my problem is with Song-yi. Considering I love Scarlett O’Hara who is probably the epitome of self involved characters.

It’s most likely because I would rather see her as more of an antagonist for Kim Jun than a romantic interest.

  20. 20 zgznoona

Happy OT my lovely fellow drama addicts!!!
Finish 12 Men in a Year, and I-m pretty satisfied with the ending
    I haven’t seen this week’s K2H, but I’m ready for the drama that’s coming.
And that’s all on the kdrama front.
I started Risou no Musuko and I’m really enjoying the mother/son relationship, so unhealthy and funny at times.

On the personal level, I’ve decided to go to Spain again this summer. I have to take care of some stuff there, including some doctor visits. Now I just have to wait a little bit more than a month, and I’ll be enjoying my crazy family once again. :D :D :D
I’m excited, because is the first time in 11 years that I’ll be going during the summer :D

    • 20.1 kewbie

Happy Friday, zgznoona! Where in Spain are you going? I went there by myself for the first time 2 years ago. Only stayed a week, but it was pretty awesome.

      • 20.1.1 zgznoona

I might be late, but better late than never. I’m from Zaragoza (that’s where the “zgz” comes from) :D But not too sure what I’ll be doing besides doctors’ appointments, taking an exam, and enjoying my family.

Well, it could have been better. Probably my expectations weren’t too high to begging with, but I enjoyed it. Lately I can’t deal with dramas that are too heavy on the emotional side, so this one was good for me

  21. 21 Cabbage

Evening/morning, folks! In March, my hub asked me where I wanted to go before I left Japan, and I answered “Seoul. Duh.” Surprise, last week, we went to Korea for two days.
He quietly stood by while I went on a “date” with JGS.

Now, I want to go back and shop more.

    • 21.1 kewbie

I love your picture! So awesome. Now I want to go out on a “date” with an idol, too. If I ever go to Seoul, I want to find the ad with Yoochun eating ramyun and take a pic in front of it.

    • 21.2 Cruelsummer

You’re so cute! Love the pic. And what a great hubby you have :)

Shopping in Korea is great! I visited several years ago (before my kaddiction) and all I remember is shopping. I’m sure I played tourist, but all I remember is getting lots of stuff for cheap, lol.

      Cute pic! Two thoughts:

      1. Is he standing on his tippy toes behind you?
      2. LOVE YOUR BAG

  22. 22 Cynthia

    Ooooo….Friday, the 13th!

Actually, 13 is a lucky number for me – I got married on the 13th of June, MANY moons ago, and it’s turned out well. I also have two black cats. And, am not nervous about walking under ladders. So, superstitious, I am not.

I love how JB & GF are adding so much new stuff to the site. It was genius taking on three new recappers – it sure paid off for our reading (and listening) enjoyment. I can’t believe how fast the recaps are coming out for the new shows!

Just watched ep 8 of TK2H – (SPOILER!) Can’t believe that Puppy and NK Princess finally ‘do the deed’ and we don’t don’t get to see one nano-second of it!! But I must admit that Seung gi really looks good naked in bed. Those white sheets really show off his upper bod. But, I’m still ticked!
    (SPOILER OVER)

I’ve been watching Love Rain. It’s like Oxycontin for the brain. It’s all good and all mellow, dude….
I don’t want to reach thru the screen and cut JGS’s lanky hair cause it looks okay, and I don’t want to throttle Yoonah just to force her to show an expression on that placid face of hers because her acting in LR is just fine.
Four Seasons PD must have an iron hand in a velvet glove – everything from acting to scenery is totally controlled. The plot is sloooow as all get out, but that’s okay. I just watch, pretend to be sitting in my flower-strewn rowboat, drifting along with the current in my gauzy dress with matching parasol blocking the sun that might mar my porcelin skin…..oops, sorry. Like I said – Oxycontin fix.

Then there’s the total opposite – Skip Beat and Fondant Garden. Why are T-dramas so universally crappy? The newest is Absolute Boyfriend featuring one of my favorite [snerk] actresses, Goo Hye Sun and some Japanese (cute) guy who plays the robot. A T-drama will be right up her alley if it plays true to form. Lots of overacting and loud dialogue. At least she won’t have to develop chemistry with a robot.

What are y’all watching? And how much do we LOVE Yoochun?! LOTS!
    :)

    • 22.1 topper

“The deed” is still up for interpretation, albeit with little possibility of not done. LOL

      • 22.1.1 kewbie

Yeah, I wondered about that. Did they do it? I wouldn’t be surprised if they did. If they did I hope they show a flashback. Fanservice, yay! ;-)

      • 22.1.2 Cruelsummer

I think they definitely did it.

        • 22.1.2.1 topper

I can’t detect the after glow. Or maybe he’s just not good at it hahaha.

          • 22.1.2.1.1 Cruelsummer

I saw a bit of glow on her end. She was all decked out in her ruffly lingerie (still confused by that) and he was shirtless. Doesn’t that indicate sexy times in kdrama? He on the other hand was being a typical guy, snoozing after the deed is done. Looked like a bonafide marriage bed to me, lol.

        • 22.1.2.2 Cynthia

Yeah, for sure. Otherwise, why would he be sans clothes and she’s in a nightgown. The deed – it is done.
Now, which leads to the typical K-drama conclusion: Is she preggers? Talk about reconciling South & North Korea!
          :)

          • 22.1.2.2.1 jomo

            No pregnancy, please.

I will post more once the Ep 8 recap is up, but I will accept nothing less than an EPIC love scene from Show.
Anything less would be uncivil to the viewers.

          • 22.1.2.2.2 kewbie

Yeah that’s true, why would he be without clothes, and she in her nightie? I think there would be temptation on both sides, if anything, especially since Hang Ah doesn’t have experience in that department, and Jae Ha always seems to be into women anyway. They were probably thinking, yeah, let’s hit that!

          • 22.1.2.2.3 Ivoire

            @ Jomo,
Thanks for the information. I went to that page and read some of the articles. Some were quite informative.

        • 22.1.2.3 jomo

          I am voting against.
I wanted him to rock her world, I wanted her to be a blushing all over the palace the next morning. I wanted her to lie blissfully in his arms recalling their earlier bickering that led to that moment.

I DID NOT WANT A FADE TO WHITE!

My theory is he was too tired, and after crying in her arms, fell asleep…naked…and…she put on lingerie after that…yeah…that’s the story I’m going with for now.

          • 22.1.2.3.1 shel

Yeah…I can’t decide which way that went….I’m guessing the staff thinks they have done it, though.

          • 22.1.2.3.2 jomo

            @shel
There will be evidence that the staff will have to deal with, so, yeah. But we didn’t see it.

OK, I’ll take the “we did it” ONLY if we get to see another sweet scene later when JH-King says, “That time was for me, but this one, Kang-ah baby, is for you!”

Getting all excited thinking about it….

          • 22.1.2.3.3 shel

Well, part of the staff showed up to get him. THAT part may think, becuase he was in her bed, that it’s obvious.

          • 22.1.2.3.4 Ivoire

            Hi Jomo,
I am with you on this one and I hear you. Just read my rant/comment below. It would have been cool to see her blushing the next morning and act as if all was well with the world, and him being super happy that he had something to do with it (and him smirking a lot), and them exchanging glances all day long when in each other’s presence. Those writers should sometimes consult us before they write some of those scenes, we know better, I am just sayin’.
LOL at your theory but do you think it holds? I was gonna go with that, but then he was SHIRTLESS and we know what that usually means. Yeah, I too, thought the bed scene was botched. It was in an already crowded episode, so maybe not enough time to spend time on it. They could have put it in the next episode if they were ready to bring that theme on and use it later on.

          • 22.1.2.3.5 Ivoire

@ Jomo, what is the evidence the staff will have to deal with? (Very curious now, and it is ok to spoil me).

          • 22.1.2.3.6 jomo

In royal and other households, after the newly married consummated the marriage, the sheets are inspected for blood. This is “proof” that the girl was a virgin.

NB Nobody cares if the boy is.

Because I have the compunction to provide more information than necessary, here is a link for further info on this topic:

      • 22.2.2 shel

Hey Leaf! How are you this week?

      • 22.2.3 Shukmeister

I have a bunch of Fahrenheit songs, mostly because of “ToGetHer”.

    • 22.3 Ivoire

I love this conversation about “the deed, it went down or not :-) ” This would never (likely not) happen with an American or Latino or French TV series, LOL. Only with Kdramas do we question it. I agree with Cynthia, I thought LSG looked good “sleeping,” because well… he does (I will leave the rest to Cynthia and her gang to comment on :-) ). I thought it must also be the mirror they use that reflects off their skin and makes it look a little tan (We usually see that mirror in the BTS videos or shots).
I also thought the deed went down, although I questioned it at first because I didn’t expect it so soon and I felt that (to me) the episode had been packed with heavy emotions and (very) somber situations. I could see how that happened, mind you, given what led to it (grief, being comforted, warm bed, already confirmed mutual attraction, etc…).
I would have liked it to be in a different episode so that as Cynthia pointed out we could see a “nano second” of it. They made such a big deal of the kiss and I liked it because it was her first one. Almost anything she does romantically in my view is new to her, so it is a big deal. I wanted to see that with their first time together and I wanted to see JH handle it accordingly. I wanted to see them flirt and banter on their way there, just like they did with the kiss. It was endearing to me.
when I saw LSG shirtless and her with the lingerie, I thought “Yep, they did it!” otherwise, why would they be dressed (or not dressed) the way they were?
Why weren’t they in each other arms at the end, instead of him being at the other side of the bed :-( ? (I wanted them to cuddle :-) )

I love the brief discussion here about the presence of an afterglow or lack thereof. You guys are so picky LOL. How are you going to detect an afterglow from a TV screen, with all the lighting they have on the set LOL?

@ Topper: “maybe he is not good at it.” Have you seen LSG kiss her? Isn’t the kiss supposed to be an indication of what the guy can do later on? :-)

I also loved the comment about the bonafide bed and the “deed-it is done.” That declaration made it final, didn’t it :-) ?

@Cynthia: I read somewhere that *SPOILER* the investigation into the king’s death will point to HA and possibly NK, which will further put a wedge between our two leads* End of SPOILER. Maybe she will leave temporarily to go back and before then find out she is pregnant? He will have to know that so that his decision will be more angstsy? Unless she leaves and someone leaks to him that she was pregnant before she left. I don’t know, like you, I am speculating. I wouldn’t be surprised however if they use the fact that they slept together (as a plot device) in the continuation of the story to drive it along. I guess we will find out eventually.

      • 22.3.1 pumpkinattack

Yeah, I have a total ax to grind with episode 8 (and parts of episode 7, for that matter). I suppose I’ll wait for the recap so I don’t spoil people. D’oh!

        • 22.3.1.1 Ivoire

looking forward to your comments :-)

          • 22.3.1.1.1 Cynthia

I’m still pretty convinced that they made love (which, btw, sounds nicer than ‘doin’ the deed’). The real indication was that it boils down to Kdrama and bedtime. We all know that Korean bedtime 99.99% of the time consists of going to bed FULLY CLOTHED – coats, even! So, we have our two leads fully dressed, in bed, consoling each other, fade to next scene, and here’s Seung gi, for all intents and purposes, naked, and she’s in a frilly nightgown. I don’t think we can draw anything other than the obvious conclusion. I can only hope that we’ll have some hot flashbacks when either party starts to daydream about that night…. or, when morning sickness hits our N.Korean comrade. She’ll have to blame it on something…..
            :)

          • 22.3.1.1.2 Ivoire

            Hi Cynthia,
I would tend to be with you on the fact that “they made love.” I know JH was grieving, but he had to know that it was HA’s first time right? (and handle it accordingly…).
I hadn’t thought of the flashbacks, but I agree with you, those would be a great way to have some insight into how things developed for them that night, and more importantly, how it affected both of them and how it might influence their relationship in the future. And you are right also, about people in Korean dramas going to bed fully clothed, 99.99% of the time, that definitely instructs us as to how to interpret that scene.

I think it would be great if things got so bad with the investigation that she had to go back to NK but then it turns out that she is actually pregnant and JH finds out about it. He was probably already missing her tremendously as it were, but that would make it even harder for him to have her away and being separated, knowing that she is carrying his child (and a potential future king or queen or princess, if she can’t become queen).

On the other hand, we might not want to see his hand forced in that way. It might also be better to see him choose her (for her) in the end because he comes to realize that he can’t live without her and that as much as he loves his country, he can’t see his life without her in it. She just means that much to him, not only romantically, but also because she behaves like his equal in their banter and in their relationship in general, and she is smart and accomplished. With her, he could change the direction of the country and maybe bring North and South Koreas a little closer than when the drama started.
Or maybe it could be both, that he really loves her (and he can’t hide it anymore) and she is pregnant. Of course, I am just speculating…

OH yeah! Almost forgot! Finished Operation Proposal :D Wheepuh! Started off slow but I enjoyed it. Yoo Seung Ho is so mature! I seriously thought he was like 3 years older than me because I’m used to some of the older k-actors with baby faces (ex: Kim Soo Hyun) but he’s only 18! Not too bad, it can work ;D

Hear are my thoughts, simplified into a chunk. By the way I loved that group of friends T^T

The ending: All in all I think the drama was great. The one thing I noticed that you have to keep in mind is that the writer’s did not study up on the space/time continuum thing. So if you’re watching the drama and trying to wrap your way around what’s happening in accordance to the S/T C then stop because the writer’s didn’t even do that much LOL. I wrote a whole theory on it so it could make sense to myself and then I realized it could never make sense because time-travel really was not the main point of the show–the love story and Baek-Ho’s personal journey was. I feel like the time travel was a just a cool bonus and story enhancer. I did enjoy it though, even if it made no kinda sense whatsoever. Clearly they didn’t want anyone to get too scientific but just think of it as a miracle for LOVE *confetti*. Which is why I like the end. It would’ve been cool to see them starting the relationship from scratch but I thought that Baek-Ho getting his memories of Yi-Seul back was another miracle (maybe the added magic of Conductor-Dad & Gramps got some divine strings to be pulled) that fit in with what the drama was trying to do. Baek-Ho lived a miracle and got so many chances, I guess they decided to give Yi-Seul a break and give her one too, lol. And honestly the start from scratch thing would just be them tippy-toeing around their feelings all over again. The show would be over so we wouldn’t get to see that part but I just KNOW it would happen. Hallelujah they wrapped up that one.

Happy birthday. What a great age.

Oh man poured buckets of tears for K2H – the family dynamics get me EVERY time. Love that show! It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Rooftop Prince has been cute and full of the funny but I really could care less about the modern company chaebol storyline they have going on – ugh. I am wondering how they will resolve the tension of Princey and gang from the Joseon era wanting to solve the mystery of his beloved “bride”‘s death (ya I have my doubts about that too) and him falling in love with Park Ha. I mean, he’s a prince right? He’s gotta go back to govern the country? ….or love trumps all? Hmmm. Anyway, sticking around to see how it all pans out – hopefully for the better!!!

Also just watched Strawberry Night for those who follow the Jdoramas – was anyone else really pissed off at all those potentially awesome dropped storylines? (Also damn sad the loveline hinted at never really went anywhere?? So frustrating!!). Anyone watched any decent Japanese dramas recently? I need a fix after strawberry night…

    • 24.1 Shukmeister

I’m currently watching Hungry!, but I can’t say yet how the love storyline will evolve. That’s my only JDrama right now.

      • 24.1.1 reglest

Shukkie, if you want loveline, then Hungry isn’t the answer. I could say that I’m regretting for hoping loveline.sigh

Dorama’s now is so deserted about romance and love line :(

        • 24.1.1.1 Shukmeister

          Any thoughts on one, then?

    • 24.2 ___varying

Strawberry Night! THEY’RE LEAVING THE LOVELINE FOR THE MOVIE… or so I like to think. I actually kind of like the dancing-around-each-other stuff, though. orz

If you don’t mind bromancy body-swap comedies, there’s Don Quixote, which I thought was awfully adorable/vastly-underrated. And apparently Shokuzai is really good (and short too, so it doesn’t require much commitment), though I haven’t worked up the guts to try it yet.

  25. 25 Ace

Since there was really nothing to last Monday to Wednesday, I watched:

Lee Min-jung’s Wonderful Radio – didn’t like LMJ’s character at first but understood her better near the middle. Remembered Ae-jung in Best Love. Teared up a lot when her character’s guests told their stories on her radio show.

Sohn Ye-jin & Lee Min-ki’s Chilling Romance – Sweet and fun! Loved, loved, loved SYJ here. She’s a hoot. Covered my eyes when the ghosts were haunting them. Why are Asian ghosts creepy? But at least they’re really scary.

and The Big Bang Theory Seasons 1-4 – halfway through S05. I have a crush on Sheldon and can someone please get Raj a girlfriend. Yeah, I’m a nerd too so I love this show. Though I can’t understand half of the physics stuff even though my Dad’s a physicist too.

    Currently waiting for subs of:

TK2H ep. 7 & 8 (plus recap of the latter)
    Hero (OCN) ep.4
    TEN ep. 5-10
    The Marriage Plot all episodes

Trying out Grimm episode 1…hope it’s good.

Happy that the update for Smurfs’ Village came out today and can’t wait for Nora Roberts’ new novel on Tuesday!

Happy Friday! Thank you JB & GF for the wonderful recaps.

    • 25.1 Ani

TBBT! Er, I’m so behind on the boys right now – funny, how ever since Charlie left Two and a Half Men I came from calling that show “The Boys” to calling TBBT “The Boys”. It’s a thing my housemate and I do. Heh. XD

I thought TEN was fully subbed on Viki? That’s where I’ve been watching it. Currently on episode 4/5 I think. Need to pick it up again. I’m with you on Marriage Plot. Subs will pop up sooner or later. They always do. As for Grimm, haven’t tried it, but I did try its Sunday twin Once Upon a Time, and that show eventually fell by the wayside for me. Sigh. Oh well.

      As for this Weekend:
      New Episode of Grey’s Anatomy
Catch up on the last 2 new episodes of NCIS
Finish Twelve Men in a Year/12 Signs of Love

Nora Roberts. Gosh, I sure remember loving her novels way back when. But somewhere along the way, her writing became predicatable to me and I just gave up. I still hold out that Born in Fire is my favorite from her. Actually, I’m going to buy the ebook tonight. Thanks for the reminder Ace. XD

Happy Friday to you too. Sorry for rambling off on your list.

      • 25.1.1 Ace

        Happy Friday to you too!

Can’t watch shows on viki in my region. :( And I’d really rather watch it subbed than read the recaps (no offense to the recapper but the recaps confuse me more).

Liking Grimm. Currently on ep.2… ;)

Ah, NCIS. Like the new season so far. Following it up with The Finder, Fringe, and Castle.

NR: She’s still my favorite author. She and her alter ego, J.D. Robb. The “In Death” series is my absolute favorite series. If only I can find my own Roarke I’d be so lucky. Yeah, sometimes her stories are predictable but I love her characters, her way with words, and her imagination. She can cross most genres and I never find her stories boring. Plus she writes fast too (3-4 books a year!) so that’s a big plus in my book.

        • 25.1.1.1 Ani

I can’t remember if I ever did read a JD Robb book. I think I did read at least one book, since it rings a bell.

I always find it amusing to watch the TV adaptations of Roberts’ Novels. Some I end up not liking due to casting choices, and others I find enjoyable. Hahaha. I have to agree though that Roberts sure knows how to keep her ideas rolling. I remember reading about her on Wiki when I wanted to learn more about her, and found out Harlequin looked down their noses at her – or something to that effect. Jokes on them I guess because Writer’s Block this woman knows not.

What I liked about Nora Roberts’ characters was how her Female Characters were never weak – at least of the books I read. What did bother me is that no matter how strong the women were, the men still swooped in at the last second in to semi-save the day. I say semi because the heroine always hold her own. It’s just that at some point, I really wanted the heroine to finish the job herself – I think it’s something that was easily rectified by the Key Trilogy. But I give Roberts credit for making the hero and heroine equally strong and working together to fight the bad guy. But maybe that’s why the Born in Trilogy is the ultimate for me. Not only was it the first from Roberts that I picked up and read (Born in Fire being first in line, heh) but it didn’t have an ultimate bad guy, but it was the emotional and family problems/baggage that served as the “antagonist”. Sigh. Talking about authors and books. This is nice. X)

          • 25.1.1.1.1 Ace

Oh, no! Not the adaptations! Hahaha! The only one I liked was Sanctuary. I tried Angels Fall and Carolina Moon but really couldn’t finish it. Maybe I should try watch Northern Lights once just to see how the lead actors managed to fall in lust/love causing them to cheat on their spouses and got divorced, then married each other. ;) The books are still better than the adaptations. Yeah, I agree that the casting choices contribute to my not wanting to watch it too.

My favorite trilogy has to be her Circle Trilogy just because it has my favorite vampire in it (Valley of Silence). That’s how a vampire should be (man, i hate that twi-crap!).

I have to say however that I love all of her books and have re-read everything and own most of them (in paperback, hardbound, and ebook formats – that’s crazy, I know!). Her characters touches something in me every time and I love how the heroine as you said holds her own and be equal to the hero. I haven’t met a female character of hers that I found weak (you’ve got to read Eve Dallas from the In Death series – she kicks serious ass, literally too). Not all of the heroes are alpha males either, most of them are even nice and not jerks. I also love the secondary characters – their crazy family and quirky friends, and the villains aren’t one-dimensional either so that’s a good thing.

NR just keeps me engaged, makes me laugh, makes me tear up, and makes me generally happy after reading her books.

BTW, the JD Robb books can be read in any order but warning! You can get addicted like me. :) I hope there’s an adaptation of the In Death books and hope they’ll get Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale as Eve & Roarke or I could settle for the leads in Castle. ;)

Have a great weekend! Hope you enjoy re-reading Born in Fire. Maggie was always my favorite in that series and come to think of it, Rogan is one part Roarke (he, on the other hand is all of her heroes in one sexy package!).

          • 25.1.1.1.2 chasen8888

I used to enjoy reading JD Robb books but I got tired of the In death series when I realised she has covered roughly 3 years of Roarke and Eve’s story in an over 10 year span. Ergo I just stopped reading them all together as I did not feel any growth its the same old same old written in slightly different ways. I do agree that her heroines are no pushovers which I like with a suitable match as well.

          • 25.1.1.1.3 Shukmeister

            @ Ace

Circle Trilogy was one of my favorite recent works, especially for the vampire character. I mean, he meets his twin 1000 years later and decides to throw off his vampire nature and make the World and All Universes Safe For Democracy.

            @ Ani

I liked the Born In trilogy, especially the third sister / local farmer meetup, and how the glass artist was gruff but looked at her as family.

I will say I like her irish-based novels less than her other works. I get tired of “so mote will be” and the myriad descriptions of green grass.

            @ both

I just downloaded and read the first book of her next trilogy, which is neither irish nor appears to have any evil prescence in it. I hope it stays that way.

          • 25.1.1.1.4 Ani

            Hahaha.

@Ace: I remember being on edge with the the Circle Trilogy. The third and last installment was also my favorite, but that’s because I enjoy a good wrap up in a story. But I have to say it was the Vampire Slayer and Creature Changeling (hey, I can’t remember what he was called, and I am too lazy to wiki it, XD) . I enjoyed how tough the Slayer/Hunter was, but also how she had so much vulnerability and scars leftover from her dad. The Roberts Adaptations are funny to watch – part amusement, part nostalgia. I think my favorite Roberts Adaptation was Midnight Bayou, but that’s because I adore Jerry O’Connell (Sliders BABY) to an embarrassing degree – but not as embarrassing as my adoration for Oliver Platt (so funny! and cute!). *waves enthusiastically* I hope you have an enjoyable weekend as well Ace.

@Shuk: Pfffffffft. HAHAHA. “So mote will be”. HAHAHA. So true! I hope you enjoy your read my friend.

        • 25.1.1.2 kewbie

Oooh…another Grimm fan! I need to catch up. I missed the last 2-3 episodes. I actually like the story and the strange characters they come up with. I also like the relationship between the Grimm cop and the Blutbad guy. He’s actually nice for a werewolf.

          • 25.1.1.2.1 JoAnne

            Yay for Grimm!

        • 25.1.1.3 cv

NR: awsome author. In death series… read all of them except I’m waiting for the new recent one that just came out at my library to check out. :D

Have anyone of you read Iris Johansen? Her Eve Duncan series is great too! Has a strong herione and a hero to help once in awhile when needed. LOL

          Nalini Singh—guild series—awsome. Strong herione.

          Jennifer Estep–elemental series—great read–strong herione also.

Singh and estep are more paranormal–urban legend romance. :)

          • 25.1.1.3.1 cv

One more thing… i so did not like the adaptation of the books make into movies. I don’t know if the actors/actresses just didn’t act well enough or they just didn’t have enough chemistry to make it believable to me. I’ll stick to reading. :)

          • 25.1.1.3.2 Ani

The adaptations were laughably good – as in they were so laughable that they were on some crazy level enjoyable. Hahaha. Yeah, most made-for-tv adaptations for books really do tend to fail to deliver. But I sure have a blast watching them. They’re just too good to pass on….. Unless they turn out horribly bad, then I really would rather roll over and croak then watch it. Heh. And casting really does factor in for me. X/

          • 25.1.1.3.3 cv

Ani, yeap…. i don’t want want to miss it either since it’s base on a book that I like. But yea, most do fail… cheaper to pay less for non famous actors/actresses perhaps? but the quality isn’t all that great.

Only managed to read lay hands on treachery in death. By new book do you mean new york to dallas? Or
Yup. Have you read the Eve Quinn Eve trilogy?
Both characters names are Eve and they are strong heroines.

          • 25.1.1.3.5 cv

H@ yes, Eve and Quinn—- Eve duncan series. It’s where she tries to find the remains of her daughter and the killer.
            It’s very good.

NR: yesh, her new series book one is Next always. I actually started the first few chapters a couple of weeks ago but haven’t gotten back to it. I have like ten other books I need to read. LOL and adding the dramas too, dang, there’s going to be some sleepless night coming up soon. :D

          • 25.1.1.3.8 Ace

            New books by NR:
            The Witness – Apr 17
The Last Boyfriend (book 2 of the Inn BoonsBoro Trilogy) – May 1

            JDR:
Delusion in Death – Sept 2012

Haven’t tried Iris Johansen recently (I used to prefer Kay Hooper when they were writing for Loveswept). Will check out the Eve Duncan series. But I also got lots of ebooks I got for free from some website (300+) and I’ve yet to read those 150+ that I haven’t got in paperback format.

The K2H’s thread on Soompi has a workaround to get access to viki… even if you are not in region.

          http://www.soompi.com/forums/topic/373955-drama-2012the-king-2hearts-%EB%8D%94%ED%82%B9-%ED%88%AC%ED%95%98%EC%B8%A0/page__st__2620

        • 25.1.1.5 Hillary

Absolutely love books written by Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb (I have all of them in my collection). Especially her J.D. Robb books. And recently started getting the e-books (just so that I can access on kindle) in addition to the hardcopies.

          • 25.1.1.5.1 Ace

Thanks for the link above re: viki access. Will do some research later. So it will work for all dramas at viki, right?

Anyway, yay! Another NR/JDR fan! I hope some of her old books be formatted digitally so I can read them wherever, whenever.

Re: predictability – since she has written more or less than 200 books, I would say that it could get predictable. Nonetheless, the characters still manage to be unique and they continue to be funny, witty, and sarcastic in their own ways.

          • 25.1.1.5.2 Shukmeister

Hillary! I’ve been ereading for a long while (starting with my PalmPilot), so I have a lot of books in .lit and .pdf format. There don’t seem to be as many in kindle, but I found a .mobi convertor that works pretty well.

So I might have 30 or so total I can read without killing trees.

        • 25.1.1.6 H

          Hi.
So glad that find someone likes JDRobb In Death series.

Thought it was awesome in the sense that despite her childhood, she became a cop and stood for what she strongly believes in.

Is there any particular in death book that you really like? =)

          • 25.1.1.6.1 Ace

It has to be Glory in Death. ;)

      • 25.1.2 canxi

        How are you liking 12Men???

I like it. it’s not what I expected but it’s good!

        • 25.1.2.1 Ani

I’m sticking with it. I was pretty busy for the last couple of weeks, so I’m partway through episode 13 – I fell asleep in the middle of it (so tired). I was wondering from the get go if there was a reason why I should bother to like the ex-boyfriend, but our heroine’s “trip” to the past showed us a side to the ex-boyfriend the show has been hinting at. We got to see what Miroo loved about him – kind and forgiving of her faults the way she was of his (and let’s admit that the prank in the beginning was dumb on his part, but she really did go too far, hahaha). I would like to see his better side even more on their journey to reconciliation – because sorry to say it folks, but it seems they’ll be heading that way. *shrugs* That’s just the way it is I suppose.

          • 25.1.2.1.1 canxi

They definitely are headed that way. He isn’t over her, though she does seem to be the one that cares a little less (which I like). At first I didn’t like him either and wondered if I was supposed to like him too, but he’s not that bad at all. He’s a little cocky (wonder how that happened) and just as quick tempered as Mi Roo can be but he has a soft side. I’m enjoying Tanya too and her reluctance to get in any serious relationship, she cracks me up and I think she’s awesome. Mi Roo is a cool character, I thought she was a little annoying at first but I like her indecisiveness–it reminds me of me hahaha and I like she’s strong at the best of times.

          • 25.1.2.1.2 Ani

I love how Tanya is always there for Roo. She gets a call from Roo and just drops everything. She’s a good friend and a good person in general. And she’s always straight forward to men about the kind of relationship she wants. I like her honesty and spunk.

    • 25.2 diorama

Ooh ooh you watched Hero? Is it not exactly what City Hunter (in terms of adaptation of the manga) should have been?

      • 25.2.1 Ace

I liked how CH got adapted. It was my fave kdrama last year. ;)

But I’m liking Hero as it is even if story-wise it’s not fast-paced enough for me and I like the police detective more than the “hero” right now.

        • 25.2.1.1 diorama

City Hunter was a good drama taken independently of the manga. But Hero is far more like the original manga: dark, industrial and gritty. Plus it’s got that total comic book feel. I mean, hello, that opening sequence is all animation.

hello to you all, it’s my first time posting here but I’ve been reading all your post for a while now.. I always look forward to all your comments. I love dramabeans and I am always here everyday, refreshing the website every now and then for an update of my fave kdramas.
anyways, i love RP too and K2H..EM is good too, specially the two young who portrayed the leading men here. but i was wondering why no one mentions FASHION KING? i love that drama too, Oh Ah In is great there!!
Sad to say, I only watched ep 1 of love rain and I got stuck.
I like what CABBAGE wrote of what he/she (sorry don’t know if you’re a girl or boy) would like RP to progress. That’ll be cool if that happens.
It’s nice being here.. till next time guys!!. ^^

    • 27.1 Cabbage

      I’z a girl :)
If you think that’s cool, you should have seen my ending for Myong-wol the Spy, where Eric is rocking out in Pyongyang with a giant rocket behind him.
Or Heartstrings, where the girls and boys get together and make a fusion band called The Stoofers and become world famous.
They should just let me write the last episode for ALL the dramas. Tragically, my knack for pegging book and police drama endings doesn’t carry over to kdramas.

    Drama accountancy, what i’ve seen:
    TW:
I love you so much (ep11): The lamest lame drama ever, but i just need Blue on my screen.
Next Heroes (ep2): Action romance drama, not bad. Waiting for Kingone to appear.
Fondant Garden (ep7): So, so cute. Even in the heavy parts. And with all the tears in K dramas that’s the perfect cure.
Ti amo chocolate (ep2): Nice to see Vanness Wu in something palatable (ha!). Not super original, but for chocolate i would sell myself, so…
Absolute boyfriend (1st ep): Could it be than GHS is suited for childish, exaggerated and overreacting characters? Jiro Wang is cute and abs-y- but i can’t forget Night for the moment. I just love the funny guy who plays the engineer.

    J doramas:
Code blue 1st season (ep3): I like it. Yamapi is so good at playing “jobs” dramas. Reminds me of the TV show the Pretender.
Boku to Star (ep2): I dropped it a few months ago, and retried it. And now i like it. Try figure…

    KD:
Maiden Detective Park Haesol Special drama (ep2): Surprisingly entertaining. There is our maknae from the Vampire Prosecutor team, and the stuntman ahjussi of Wedding Scheme.
Immortal classic (ep8): Boring, i just look for the cooking scenes and FF the rest. How to watch an episode in 5 minutes.
Wedding Scheme (ep4): Like it a lot. Better than 12 Men in a year which disappointed me.
Fashion King (ep8): I want to drop it, but i keep watching it just for Lee je-hoon. Hot!!! Thanks Deeno and Raine for the recaps, cause it’s really what is the most fun with that show!
Can love become money (ep12): Nice unpretentious show. Like it for some inexplicable reasons (the guys? no way…)
Hero (ep4): Like it, and even more now than dead people resurrect… Hehe.
Feast of the Gods (ep 20): Food, music, guys. Nothing else to say.

Will watch the last eps of K2H this weekend, with some tissues, and with nougatine to chunk…

Hello little sister! * Hug*! How you doin’?
I asked the dramagods to keep the trolls away from OT and dramabeans today…
I wrote something about RP at 28.2.1. just below.

        • 28.1.1.1 shirin-noona

Unni, something was wrong with my computer so I replied to your comment like 10 times! If by any chance they popped up just ignore them!
          H haven’t seen episode 7 yet,I hope I don’t lose interest after watching it.

    • 28.2 angelpur

      hi :)

fashion king: I just started this one as well (on ep 4), but am already disliking the story – but I’m only looking out for Lee je-hoon as well – he reminds me of kang ji hwan so much!

feast of the gods: I think I stopped around ep 13 when the new dramas came about and I kind of forgot about this one…what guy are you rooting for? this is a tricky love triangle!

can love become money: I also want to watch this one too, planning to marathon it when more subs are available

are you not watching rootop prince?

      • 28.2.1 Mystisith

        Hello angelpur!
FOTG : I like Jae Ha because of his cute smile and his vivid personality, but honestly the real soulmate is Do-yoon. He is always there for her: The scenes where he “helps” a reluctant Joon Young are so telling (hospital scenes, rehab…). And we had a confession recently, so it’s GAME OVER for me.
I watch Rooftop Prince! But i feel like i’m losing interest. I loved the first eps, but I didn’t like ep7: Draggy and forced humor for me. I don’t feel invested in the story: I just keep watching because of Micky and Han Ji Min good acting. Maybe i will change my mind with next installments? And there is the other cold and hot bad guy: Tae-mu!

        • 28.2.1.1 Deeno

Back away from Tae Mu. He’s mine. I’m going to spend the weekend making animated GIFs of him… 8000 screencaps so far…

    • 28.3 Ani

Kingone? Kingone is back?! When?! WHERE?! Why didn’t my Kingoney Senses alert me? Hahaha. I love the guy, but I sure am tired of seeing him play second fiddle, or the guy without a proper loveline. Sigh.

      • 28.3.1 Mystisith

Ani, Next heroes is at viki FYI. 8 eps avalaible but subs come in slowly.

        • 28.3.1.1 cv

yup. not too many subbers to help. The ones that are subbing are busy with other dramas too.

    • 28.4 cv

I stopped watching I love you so much after the second episode. Just wasn’t into it….storyline wasn’t my cup of tea either. LOL

  29. 29 Noelle

    Happy OT everyone!

I’m getting excited about RTP. I have so many theories and questions its ridiculous. I need to watch all the episodes again because I feel like I missed some stuff. K2H is getting awesomely good. I know its gonna get dark from now on but I hope the romance part of it stays strong. I’m excited about character development especially JS’s. She is my flipping hero!

  30. 30 Laya

    Happy weekend, DBers. /hugs everyone

I got a translation project starting today, Friday, so I probably will be tied up till my deadline on Monday. Yes, I’m trying my hand at translation jobs, but it’s okay since translating is fun for me anyway. I’ll just wait till till after tonight’s City Hunter episode on local TV, cause it’s the ending, and Dream High 1 starts airing on Monday. I was happy with Channel 2′s K-drama lineup, but then Channel 7 plans to air Smile Donghae and Tamra the Island. I hope they’re both not up against another drama I want to watch on Channel 2 :(

K2H and RTP are really going strong, aren’t they? Hyung’s death… and puppy’s face when he’s trying to deal with it :( Good thing I read the RTP recap after K2H for a pick-me-up.

Finally finished The Man Who Can’t Get Married, whew. Was the artist’s house (the one who wanted to paint Yu Jin) the same as Granny’s house in Brilliant Legacy? o_O I’m wondering what to watch next– after this job’s done, of course /looks through collection.

    • 30.1 cmrprindle

      Laya!!! *hugs!*

How was TMWCGM? I was interested in for one of the leads, can’t remember her name now, but the reviews I saw were meh.

What are these translation jobs? It sounds interesting…and nervewracking. Do they usually have such short deadlines?

      • 30.1.1 Laya

/hugs cmr. I missed you! How are you? :D

TMWCGM was… I wanted to bop Ji Jin Hee’s character (the titular Man) on the head in frustration, right up to the (open) end. LOL. Which cast member? Ji Jin Hee (needs no introduction), Uhm Jung Hwa (Uhm Tae Woong’s noona), Kim So Eun (BOF’s Gaeul), Yoo Ah In (needs no introduction), or Yang Jung Ah (Romance Town’s Yoon Joo)?

The translation job actually makes me think of TWWSWTM’s Da Jung, lol. Ah, it’s a one-time thing translating documents from Filipino to English, a rush job. I hope to get similar jobs in the future, though.

        • 30.1.1.1 cmrprindle's phone

I’m good! Well, at the moment I have a headache and am really tired, but a good night’s rest should fix it :)

I’m was interested in TMWCGM for Kim So Eun. I don’t remember if I’d yet seen TWWSWTM yet. Maybe I had and I was looking up related stuff? Don’t remember now. But I had been tracking her, and the only other drama she was in at the time was a daily and I was so not ready for one of those.

Are you wearing big glasses and comfy clothes like Da Jung while you work? She believed in dressing for success, but she sure knew how to be casual :)

          • 30.1.1.1.1 Cynthia

Just watched Kim Soeun in ‘Music and Lyrics’ with 2PM’s Jinwoon. They had to create an OST – it was a really charming watch, and someone nicely subbed it all 3 eps. You can KShowNow or YouTube it. KSE is adorable.
            :)

          • 30.1.1.1.2 JoAnne

Chicken Beak???? I can watch my adorable little Chicken Beak again? YAY!!!!!

          • 30.1.1.1.3 cmrprindle's new phone

            Thanks for the rec, Cynthia!

    • 30.2 Laya

I finally gave in and am watching Ep. 1 of RTP. It was weird seeing the actor playing Jang Hee Jae (Jang Hui-bin’s oraboni) in Dong Yi playing the king (Yi Gak’s father). And lol… those flowers in the garden look like they were just stuck into the ground among all the dead branches and leafless trees, and they’re such a weird pink o_O

    • 30.3 JoAnne

I just finished it too – I am not sure about the house though. I really enjoyed it.

      • 30.3.1 Laya

JoAnne, yes, there were a lot of fun parts ^_^ I guess I just felt that nothing really got resolved up to the end, although Jae Hee did make the effort to actually look for Mun Jung when she walked out on him. He just kept expecting her to make all the concessions and then got surprised when she got angry or disappointed. But I guess she understood him that way? :D

The reason I mentioned the house was because of the verandah in front (where Mun Jung, Ki Ran and Hyun Kyu came upon Yu Jin and Jae Hee at the buffet table), although the whole facade wasn’t shown– some of my favorite scenes in Brilliant Legacy were shot on the verandah of Granny’s house (http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a259/thundie76/Brilliant%20Legacy/BL1347-1.jpg), and it looked pretty familiar to me.

  31. 31 redfox

heh, I discovered my new leather jacket –
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/77186745@N04/6927780020/ -
is rather similar to the one “Ji Gak” wears in Rooftop prince (this one: http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm96/javabeans122/drama/2012/rooftop/roof1/roof7-00284.jpg)

I have long wanted a jacket like that, makes me feel safer in this neighborhood! Like “Dont mess with me, I belong in a gang!”

  32. 32 Raine

Hey all! I’m still swamped with work just just popped in to say hi! I’ll try to come by tonight! I miss you all. Last week was my first week missing OT. *sob*

    • 32.1 kewbie

Hello Raine! Hope you’re having a good day. :-)

    • 32.2 shirin-noona

      Hi Rainey!Hugs!

  33. 33 iZzie :)

    Happy Friday! :)

Although the earlier part of this day was pretty much “the 13th” for me – very heavy traffic on the way to work, endured the scorching sun while waiting for a cab, management of airline booking wasn’t so good – I was almost charged triple the cost of check-in baggage coz of web admin fees, plans of eating out with friends tomorrow might not push thru, and then found out that my new crush likes someone else.

It’s got to get better from here.

Anyways… Happy Weekend/OT to all of ya! Missed being here, but I still have no kdrama tales to relate to.

How’s Rooftop Prince and Fashion King, btw?

    • 33.1 shirin-noona

      Hi iZzie,how are you doing?
Rooftop prince is great. It’s hilarious, cute, sweet…it’s awesome.

      • 33.1.1 iZzie :)

I’m doing fine, thanks shirin-noona! Just recovering from the day’s trials. :)

I’m trying to avoid the episode summaries here cuz I’ve become such a lazy viewer because of them – since I already knew the stories, I tend not to watch anymore. I’m still (for the nth time) trying to get back on my kdrama addiction. I’m soo tempted to look up the Rooftop Prince and Fashion King posts here, but nooooo… gotta have some self control.

  34. 34 Fab

Hello everyone, first time commenting on the OT!

It’s the thirteenth on Friday, how are we holding up? I honestly don’t really care… :P

Just yesterday I’ve discovered that I am watching al the Wednesday-Thursday dramas! And nothing else. LOL. And I am enjoying all three of them.

    • 34.1 cv

      welcome Fab!

yup, all we-thurs are good dramas. too bad equator man is too dark, melo for me.

      • 34.1.1 Fab

        Thank you cv!

I am left upset after every episode of Equator Man, so much injustice happened to the poor guy, I am just waiting for him to get a break already. Good thing another time-skip is on it’s way…Maybe then you’ll be interested? :p though I can imagine it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

        Have a nice weekend!

    • 34.2 kewbie

Hello, Fab! Love the name. I love the website, too. They sell a lot of interesting stuff. How is your Friday going?

      • 34.2.1 Fab

Hi Kewbie! I only know the website, and I t
hink they stole the name from me. Ahem. LOL just kiddin’. Friday went well for me, i had a day off and was bored a little hence my curiosity in the OT. Nice corner.

I hope you had a fun Friday and an even better weekend!

  35. 35 aoiaheen

    Hello everyone.

I’ve been so busy these days that I didn’t even realize it was friday the 13th till i read the comments on OT.

It’s a beautiful day outside. 15C and sunny.

I watched Love Rain (ep5 and 6 only)and quite enjoyed it. I’ve ditched Equator Man cause I can’t seem to get past the failed murder attempt. I’m a wimp that way.

Wish you guys a great weekend. Unfortunately I’ll probably working :(

  36. 36 Shukmeister

    Good morning everyone!!

Popping onto OT after my usual right-after-work sleep cycle. I hope everyone is doing well.

Here in my section of Virginia, things are not so much fun. The Navy plane crash happened about eight blocks from my workplace. Luckily, minimal injuries and no loss of life puts a positive spin on the whole situation.

On a more somber Fri-13 date, this morning, my firefighter brother and my rescue chingus were called to a condo fire – two dead so far and 12 families displaced. No public safety workers were injured, so I’m happy for that as the building ‘pancaked’ and collapsed from the top down. Please pray for those families.

    For me, personally:
    - I marathoned Biscuit Teacher / Star Candy, then rewatched FBRS. I liked that the age difference is more toned down on BT/SC, but I didn’t think Tae In deserved Bor Ri with all the lies he told.
    - I’m caught up on RP, halfway through Hungry!, watched the first epi of the new version of Absolute Boyfriend with Cynthia’s favorite wooden actress [snerk].

    - Four chapters this week of the P&hH, but there may be a short hiatus while I focus on my move, my parent’s return to VA (time to clear my beer out of their fridge!), and other darn intrusions of the Goddess Reality. She’s a mean b^%^&. lol

Orthodox Easter is this week, so that means – lamb! So I have something to look forward to on Sunday.

Anyways, I’ll be in and out this weekend checking back. Take care everyone!

PS – I vote “Castaways on the Moon” for Movie Noona Week.

    • 36.1 Shukmeister

Eeek – another CNNLive story on my area talking about mold issues in military housing and displaced families. [sigh].

For the record, Hampton Roads is still a great place to live…

    • 36.2 shirin-noona

Wow!Shuk! You and your family are like heroes. You’re an EMT your brother is a firefighter. That’s great!
By the way, when’s the movie night?

      • 36.2.1 Shukmeister

        shirin-noona!

I think it should be this weekend, but I’ll defer to the Movie Noonas. We had talked about “Petty Romance” too, and I think both are on Ionair right now.

My second sister works at the local Children’s Hospital as the director of Respiratory Therapy. And I used to work there in the sickle-cell and cancer ward.

My oldest sister married a minister, so I jokingly call her the black sheep. LOL

Unfortunately none of us are rich in our chosen fields. But most of us are happy, so I think that’s more important.

  37. 37 JoAnne

Greetings and Salutations, Oh Wondrous Beans of My Heart!

I got to watch My Beloved practice for a concert in BDUs and boots last night…he was practicing Hip Song, so think about *that* move, from a guy in uniform who’s grinning because he knows EXACTLY what it does to everyone in the crowd…sigh. And then he wore a suit which appeared to be rather tight even for him during the actual Peace Concert…cannot wait for that particular post-Army abs shot.

In other news…K2H has moved solidly to #1 for my current viewing, with RTP and EM following behind, not too far behind for respectability but still – K2H is the one I make the effort to stay current with. The others I can fit in when I fit in, even though I enjoy them very much.

Finished HWCM. Completely in love with every single actor in the series, and that includes Sanggu, worlds cutest chihuahua after MY chihuahua.

Happy Birthday Canxi! Shel – good luck girlie, you sound like your stock of it could use replenishing! Raine, busy is good. We’re awesome, I know, but RL takes priority. Shuk, your next OT fiction project must include the daughter that is a birth secret even from her mother, Mysti.

    • 37.1 shel

Thanks for the luck wishes. We’ve resurrected that car several times, it’s time to let it go. But I was SO enjoying not having a car payment.

    • 37.2 Shukmeister

      JoAnne -

Myst is your birth mother through a freakish experiment with a time machine, two pounds of chocolate, and an electron-beam accelerator, only for you to fall in love with your first cousin who looks a lot like PSH, only to receive death threats from Raine, who unfortunately falls off a train trestle while running away from a frieght train being driven by Ani.

Ivoire arrives to protect you, but you lose your memory thanks to reading Jack Kerouac poetry while drinking poisoned soju. In order to restore your memory, you are locked into a purple-walled room and are forced to watch Fox News which ultimately turns your brain to mush.

Then, in the final chapter, Your Precious shows up, plants a hot kiss on you, your memory is restored, it turns out Raine is your non-fraternal twin and you both become great friends and companions, Ani is your daughter through another zap by the CEBA machine, and everyone gets Eternal Youth and looks 25 and a size 2 forever.

      How’s that?

      • 37.2.1 JoAnne

        THAT.IS.GENIUS.

        disturbing, too.

        • 37.2.1.1 Mystisith

          Hello my daughter! Bwahahahaha!
I will plead insanity if someone ask me something about us…

      • 37.2.2 shirin-noona

OH MY GOD!That was hilarious!I wanna be in there too!Doesn’t JoAnne have a another first cousin who looks like Gong Yoo or Jung Il Woo?!I don’t think I will receive death threats from anyone here for falling in love with them, and then I can live happily ever after!

        • 37.2.2.1 Shukmeister

          [crack knuckles] ok

Myst, JoAnne, Ani, and Raine go on a multi-generational spa session, and find that their willowy masseuse Shirin-Noona bears a disturbing resemblance to a faded daguerreotype made by Nicephore Niepce in Paris in 1816 as one of the oldest pictures of their family.

S-N is deaf and hiding from loan sharks because she took out loans to try and save her family plushie factory.

The CEO of the factory was hired by her late father With his auburn fluffy hair and awesome lips, he turns heads at the factory, which causes a high incidence of irregular stitching among the factory noonas. Turns out he actually is JIW in disguise, looking for inspiration for his next role.

One day while visiting the factory, S-N is nearly smothered by a falling cascade of radish and pig-rabbit plushies. JIW digs her out, applies CPR, her eyelashes flutter open on the second breath, and SNAP!

          Love blooms among the stuffies…

          • 37.2.2.1.1 shirin-noona

            bwahahaha!I loooooooooooved it!
Why am I deaf by the way?!

I love the idea of a plushies factory CEO. I’m tired of clothes, leather bags and make-up businesses in K dramaland. Now that we are in April, i want to see landscape gardeners, horse breeders… I want to be “outside”.

      • 37.2.3 shel

    • 37.3 cmrprindle

I have no real substance to add to this post than silly grins on behalf of your love for your beloved, and your suggestion to Shuk :D

Did anyone see Nell’s beautiful video for The day Before with Lee Minki? Not only is he particularly beautiful in it, but even the glob of jam on his plate is beautiful. Make sure to watch in glorious 1080p so you can count all of his eyelashes!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6AzbOupbxk

It inspired me to write a mini recap/interpretation, but make sure you watch it before reading.

    ** SPOILERS **

There are layers of interpretations of what is happening in this video. The simple reading of the events has Lee Minki writing a note while Song Jaerim is packing up camera equipment. He smiles in anticipation of seeing his friend, so we assume that he doesn’t know that Minki is going to commit suicide. Jaerim sets up the camera and looks at Minki lovingly – this is the only moment I thought there may be more to their relationship than platonic friendship. They have a friendly, relaxed conversation. Then, around the 2:34 mark Minki tells Jaerim that he is going to commit suicide and the mood changes. Even though Jaerim is upset, he doesn’t do anything to stop Minki, other than perhaps trying to talk him out of it. Then, after Minki beautifully dies, we see the camera lens, then Jaerim’s hand dropping a small elephant figurine, and then the camera pans underneath the table to show that Minki’s feet are no longer there. The view accross the table also shows an empty chair, and the frozen frame in the camera viewfinder is of a dead Minki. All that’s left of Minki is the last moments captured in the camera and the remains of his last meal. But even before we see the last frame which suggests that Minki wasn’t there at all with Jaerim, the video gives us clues that the two are not in the room at the same time. The biggest one is the lack of physical contact. I have seen a number of Korean dramas and guys are very touchy-feely with each other. I would think that Jaerim would at least give Minki a hug before he died rather than helplessly staring at him. The table also separates the two, and when Jaerim sends a marble in Minki’s direction, it bounces back to him. There is also the detail of Jaerim drinking wine while Minki is having breakfast, suggesting a different time of day. The main key to interpreting the video is John Berger’s book “And Our Faces, My Heart, Brief Like Photos” which Minki inscribes, presumably, to Jaerim. I haven’t read that book, but I have read other essays by Berger. One of his ideas is that images have lives of their own, outside of the things they represent. So, Magritte’s pipe is not a pipe, it is an image of one, just like the elephant figurine is not an elephant, but a symbol for memory. All these details suggest that Minki died alone and recorded his death for Jaerim. The camera that Jaerim sets up in Minki’s apartment is a projector of his friend’s last moments. The loving look on his face after he turns the camera on is the joy of seeing his friend alive again, however briefly. Thus he creates his own version of Minki’s death, in which he is present. Minki’s video and Jaerim’s imagination blend together to create the video that we are watching.

    • 38.1 Noelle

      aww. that sounds sadly beautiful.

      • 38.1.1 Noelle

Thanks for introducing me to Nell. Off to find some more of their music.

    • 38.2 JoAnne

I had only seen the teaser with Lee Min Ki until now, but just watched the whole video. Even without understanding the words to the song, I was in tears.

The berries on the saucer are a clue, as well. Who is the photographer in real life?

and holy CRAP is that album spectacular. Almost as stunning as uri Min Ki’s otherworldly face.

      • 38.2.1 will work for soju

I wonder if the berries are poisonous. I’m not familiar with these ones.

    • 38.3 kewbie

Yes! I am glad you brought it up. I saw it a few days ago and forgot to mention it up there. It was so beautifully shot, but it’s a bit depressing, isn’t it? Jae Rim is re-living the last moments of his friend Min Ki’s life. I wish there was a little more background to the story, though. You see Min Ki talking but you don’t know what he’s saying. Jae Rim looks shocked throughout…sorta in a daze. Still, the filming was fantastic and it did have a melancholy air to it. Then again, NELL is famous for making sad/melancholy music. BTW I bought the new album and it’s AWESOME.

      • 38.3.1 will work for soju

Thanks for posting the link to the teaser last week. Otherwise I wouldn’t have known.

    • 38.4 Cruelsummer

That video killed me. After watching I immediately bought the entire album. So beautiful. I’ve been on a melancholy, snacking binge all week. Staring out of windows into the sky, being all reflective and what not :)

      • 38.4.1 kewbie

Girl, I know what you mean. As much as I love NELL’s music, I can’t listen to too much of it in one sitting, otherwise I get all pensive and start sighing here and there, thinking about the futility of life. heheh…

        • 38.4.1.1 Cruelsummer

IKR!! I need to listen to some Rihanna so that I can cease all brain activity. No heavy thinking required.

        • 38.4.1.2 will work for soju

I made the mistake of buying the album before boarding a flight to LA and listening to it over and over. Let’s just say that landing in the middle of a thunderstorm with “Let it crash” refrain from “Cliff Parade” running through my head is not an experience I’d like to repeat. Awesome music, though downbeat.

    • 38.5 soysauce

I’m sooooo happy that Nell is back. I can only listen to Separation of Anxiety for so many times. I am IN LOVE with this album! And two whole songs in English! It’s not that Korean artists (or indie artists even) have never sang in English, but the fact that these two songs, and all the other English lyrics, ACTUALLY MADE SENSE!!! Even the profanity! And Kim Jong Wan’s English is so on point, from the pronunciation to the emotions. It just makes me so so happy.
My favorite has to be Go. The music is so lovely, and I am a sucker for songs with dynamics. It’s been on repeat for days now.
I can’t say that their music style is much different from their other albums, but who the hell cares? They’re so damn good at these melancholy songs! They’re sad, but they’re all so pretttyyy!!!! Kinda reminds me of Death Cab prior to Codes and Keys :D

I totally agree. Nell is one of the better English-singing Korean bands. I’ve heard some bad ones, too. So glad they came out with this album!

    Hello All!

Wow this may be my first time participating in an Open Thread – it seems like a lot of fun haha.

So I’m just at work – another Friday the 13th I guess. Working on some paperwork but ultimately waiting for lunch because I’m starving…even though I had breakfast. >.<

I've been watching/reading summaries of King 2 Hearts (I've recently fallen in love with the actor who plays Eun Shi Kyung – because he was also Byeong Gun on What's Up – he's an amazing actor and I can't believe he's been flying below the radar, esp since he's over 30 and just now being a more recognizable face). I cried last night reading the summary for episode 7…poor hyung! But haven't had time to actually watch the episode yet lol

As for Rooftop Prince – I can't watch it. Just not a fan of the TaeMu and SeNa thing – they're just all crazy eyed and evil….so I generally skip to see the rangers in action – I have to agree with Mimi – Manbo is the cutest haha.

I'm going to start watching Proposal Operation…Marriage Plot this weekend maybe? The one with Kang Hye Jung and what's his evil boyfriend face from Kim Sam Soon…I really need to learn to remember his name and the dramas name….

E! Welcome to the lair of the drama addicts!
Even if you’re famished, try not eating us: We are not edible… :)
Eun Shi Kyung has been a revelation for a lot of people in What’s up?

    • 39.2 Shukmeister

Welcome E! Glad you decided to come forward and proudly declare your DB/JB KDrama obsession.

    • 39.3 cmrprindle

Welcome to the OT, E! We’re always happy to hear a new voice :D

    • 39.4 kewbie

Whaddup, E? Hope your Friday is going well! :-)

    • 39.5 shel

Welcome, welcome. You came on a somewhat tame day. Some of our more notorious troublecausers are either not here, or surprisingly mellow.

Not me, of course, I would never cause trouble.

      • 39.5.1 cherkell

        Riiiiiiiight. [snerk] :P

      • 39.5.2 JoAnne

Wait til you’re not so tired anymore…

Speaking of, though – where is RICKY? Where is SETHE? MJP is missing too but she comes and goes…

        Jooooooooooooooomo, where are you?

        • 39.5.2.1 shel

I could swear I saw Jomo on here yesterday…..

    salutations tadeul!
i am watching no dramas. I paused can’t lose at episode 11 to think about where I’d seen it all before, and sand glass at episode 9 because saying “it had to happen” “what’s happening is the balance” stopped being comforting and the show was wrenching me apart. Anyway I just woke up from a strange dream: I just became the heiress to a large corporation, I moved into the big house, met two brothers. The youngest brother is closer to my age and cute and comfortable, the older brother was all kinds of refinement and gruffness and I woke up just as I was going to find out if he liked me too. That was mostly because my brain started rejecting kim young ok as my grandmother, my mother as a cryer and the goofy younger brother as delivery person that brought my greek burger last night.

I’m very envious of your new drama watching but I still can’t watch any. I just finished who are you and I think the song kang nam gil sings ” i saesangeul chong mal haengbokhan salam . . .” is so awesome but I can’t find it anywhere. Anyone knows who the original singer is? They played the orignal version in the show too.

    • 40.1 cmrprindle

Who needs dramas when they’ve got dreams like these, Jumma? Quick, go back to sleep so you can tell us how it ends! :)

I am also envious of the new drama watchers…I feel so…out of the loop, I guess. But I haven’t the time or energy, or the hair-doing needs (don’t ask), so don’t feel like you’re along.

      • 40.1.1 shirin-noona

What did you have for dinner last night Bunny?!I’m asking because I wanna have it tonight. That was some dream!:))

        • 40.1.1.1 ajbny

I had a greek burger with feta cheese and onions.

          • 40.1.1.1.1 cmrprindle

            Mmmm, that sounds delish.

      • 40.1.2 ajbny

        ms. Prindle!
Have we been missing each other again are have you been away? I’ve been on vacation for 2 weeks ( I think that’s partly why I had that heiress dream) and so I missed last week’s ot completely, but today after my midmorning nap I remembered to pop in and what a treat to see you here! hello!

        • 40.1.2.1 cmrprindle's new phone

Its definitely been us missing each other, Jumma Bunny love. Work the last 2 weeks–maybe more– has been trying, and just thinking of the OT was exhausting. How was your vacat? Do anything or anywhere fun?

      Is this the song?

      • 40.2.1 ajbny

noooo kang nam gah gil I used to mix them up all the time and this one time I was reading something on dramabeans and thinking why do they have the hots for that haraboji! oh dear that was a funny day. I know the song was in another drama and I can’t remember which one though.

    • 40.3 ajbny

I found it! I just jumped all over the living room screaming. It’s not the kang nam gil version, but it’s still sweet. I don’t have korean characters and I don’t really trust google translate so I used my dictionary and cut and pasted from dramawiki entries of drama names and artist names. Fun Times! The artist is Lee Moon Se/Soi The song title Naneun Haengbok han Salam!
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UknN29ZLsYg
I think there are other versions and I do have strange taste in music. I hope you guys enjoy it.

  41. 41 momogi

    Anyeong everybody..!
it’s 12:30 am in my region, less than 30mintues to saturday. anyway, is the strike still going strong? I wonder if KBSW will get affected too, by which I mean, if we’ll also get 1N2D behind-the-scene than new episodes.

this week i’ve finally watch first two episodes of Equator Man and that coldplay song in the background is indeed strange, and also some other song choices like the ones they use for Soo-mi scene when she waited Jang-il in the beach. what’s up with the music director?

  42. 42 cmrprindle

    Happy Weekend, All!

Another crazy week almost down, another crazy week looming on the horizon. Le sigh.

Rehearsals are back on this week, I think. Our one big show is coming up, and anyone in NY is invited :) (scary though it is to know that even *more* people will be there for me to freak out about O.O )

Went to visit my Gram last weekend for a very brief Easter visit. It was totally worth it, as we had a nice trip w/hardly any traffic both ways. Didn’t feel much like Easter, though :-/ Ah well.

Mmm…like Jumma Bunny Love, no new dramas for me. Heck, I’m still “stuck” on ep2 of History of the Salary Man. And what a kookie crazy drama that is!

*HUGS* to all. I should be around this weekend, so I shall make with the commenting, hopefully before it explodes for movie night ;)

    • 42.1 Shukmeister

      CMPrindle! My favorite wiretap chingu!!

Break a leg for your show. I’m not scheduled to go back to NYC until the summer. Be sure to eat regularly and don’t get too run down!

      • 42.1.1 cmrprindle

Thank you, thank you, Shuk! I’m always happy to tap a wire for you ;) It’s too bad you’ll miss our show! Although, as crazy as things have been I won’t be surprised if my own mum misses it. :-/ It’s been that kind of year. If someone takes video I’ll make sure to post it.

  43. 43 swinter101

is anyone else watching Shinhwa Broadcast? what r your thoughts on it, i love it.

    • 43.1 H

watched the first ep and thought it was hilarious.

The choosing of the superheroes outfits / the teasing in the car / the using of the funds to buy food etc.

They really had fun together and it was fun too watching them.

  44. 44 KStyle

    Happy OT Fridays y’all

Hope everyone had aproductive week thus far. I am out and about this sunny day. FL has been giving us residents some nice weather.
So Idk all the lovers of the King aka King2Hearts, all I can say is that this show is the Best. I laughed, cried more like bleed my heart out over these two past episodes. If you havent been watching or think that the two leads have no chemistry then boy will you be in for a lovely suprise. I totally heart this show and I hope that everyone gets a chance.to watch this amazing show.
    Cya later

  45. 45 60silverdollars

Okay so I’d been reluctant to do so because I thought it would be vapid and juvenile, but I started watching Shut Up Flower Boy Band last night. I just finished the second episode but omg, it’s much better than I thought it would be!

And Lee Min Ki is sooooooo fine.

    • 45.1 Shukmeister

Watch “A Chilling Romance” and you’ll find he’s awesome in a lot of ways!

      • 45.1.1 60silverdollars

Is that a drama or a movie. I can’t find it on his wikipedia. I watched the first episode of Mixed Up Investigative Agency but the quality (the vid resolution, not the content of the drama) of it was so bad that it was hard to get through.

        • 45.1.1.1 Shukmeister

It’s a movie – Actually, it was the last movie picked for Movie Noona night. He’s a magician; she’s being pursued by a vengeful high school ghost.

Dramacrazy has it, I think. I don’t know if it’s available on DVD or download yet.

          • 45.1.1.1.1 60silverdollars

            I’ll check it out.

Movie Noona night sounds fun, but I think Lee Min Ki is my oppa.

          • 45.1.1.1.2 JoAnne

            Watch Quick, too – it’s a movie.

Lee Min Ki can be my oppa if he wants. I could just watch him talk. He’s stunning. It’s not like with Towel either where stunning really means ‘I want to jump his bones and make him scream my name’.

He is just something you have to look at. When you see him and then he’s not there, your eye feels empty. No matter how long you look, you just want to look more. How everything moves, how everything is connected, the texture of his mouth, or his skin, or the way his lids make his eyes look so much wider than they actually are…the camera adores him. I wonder if his face is so expressive in person or if the jumble of oversized features looks strange. He makes me want to get out pencils and begin drawing again.

    • 45.2 kewbie

Awesome! BTW, I just found out that Dramafever subtitled the Shut Up: Flower Boy Band Special! Be sure to watch it when you’re done with the series. :-)

      • 45.2.1 JoAnne

OMG WHEN CAN I GO HOME AND WATCH

ahem. I mean, I’ll try to check it out this weekend.

        • 45.2.1.1 kewbie

I watched the special twice already. :-) No worries ;-)

    • 45.3 shel

I loved that show. My daughter is watching it now and she loves it, too.

  46. 46 60silverdollars

I am dying for The Marriage Plot to get subbed, and for legal streaming of Flowers for my Life. Kang Hye Jung is so great, why are her dramas so marginalized?

    • 46.1 ajbny

I think it’s possible for the drama to appear after all the hype has died down. dramafever has that uselessness down pat!

  47. 47 redfox

    about Rooftop again

I watched ep 1 again cause someone mentioned a turtle and some suspicious movement. whats with the part where Tae Young was shown right after crown princess both floating in water… maybe Tae Young jumped into the CROWN princess´s body isntead? and maybe the crown …no, thats unlikely.
well the swap wasnt Yi Gak Tae Yong but Tae Young Crown Princess, and Yi Gak was a surplus swap that wasnt meant to happen by powers to be
    ah
I must have had too much catnip, I dont really know

    • 47.1 Noelle

      that was me LOL

that weird turtle will bug me till the show ends.

      • 47.1.1 redfox

there is no turtle though just a shoe

  48. 48 Noelle

Is anyone watching Can Love Become Money? I love it! I just wish I could find subs for ep 3 through 7? 11?

    • 48.1 Noelle

Anyone know where I can find subs?

  49. 49 kewbie

I didn’t see anyone mention it here, but is anyone watching “Standby” or “Music & Lyrics”?

I watched the M&L episodes with 2PM’s Junho and Kim So Eun. SO CUTE THOSE TWO!!!!!! I wouldn’t mind seeing them together in real life. The best part is, their song got picked up for the OST of “Feast of the Gods”. What a great achievement for them! I watched it subbed on Wild2Day’s channel on DailyMotion.

As for Standby, I haven’t seen it with subs yet, but it looks interesting. There’s 3 (maybe 4) episodes out now. The pace of sitcoms are much different than the dramas, that’s for sure. I think I’ll have to wait until I watch it with subs to get a better feel for it.

  50. 50 Pam

When is the recap for Marriage Plot coming out, gummimochi?

    • 50.1 gummimochi

      Soon, I hope :) !!
