I swear, this guy’s career is one well-oiled machine. Now that his drama The King 2 Hearts has wrapped, Lee Seung-gi has been announced as one of the MCs for a new variety show to hit SBS late this summer, called Table for 100. It hasn’t been confirmed, but if he does take the gig, it’ll at least solve the great riddle that would have been: What would happen to tv if Lee Seung-gi stopped being on it? Would sets just spontaneously combust? I was picturing more of a sad-mac situation and flags at half-mast around the country. I kid, but you kind of do wonder, right?
The new program will be headlined by PD Shin Hyo-jung, formerly of the 1 Night 2 Days crew. It’s still in the planning stages, but the program will be an outdoor variety show involving food, which is pretty much the vaguest description ever. Does it also have people? And laughs? At least it sounds like it has a cooking component, which um… if you’ve ever seen Seung-gi cook on 1 Night 2 Days, you’re already laughing along with me.
The plan is for it to be a two-MC show… is it too early for the Kang Ho-dong chants to begin? We want the bromance! Bring back the bromance! That would seriously make my day.
The show (with Seung-gi as MC) has reportedly been in the works for a while now, and had originally planned to premiere earlier in the summer, but his Japanese concerts proved to be enough of a scheduling conflict that made them think it might not work out. And they’re still being hammered out, hence the inability to confirm. The plan is to begin shooting in July/August, and premiere by August/September, but it looks like they might have to push the start date to score their MC or start looking elsewhere.
If the stars align, Seung-gi will be back in varietyland by later summer/early fall. If the universe has any sense at all, Ho-dong hyung will be by his side.

well since someone write hodongie, I’m curious about that, I only hear people call their junior whose name end with consonat by adding -ie, like hodongie or joowonie.

It differs and I’m not really sure about how it actually works for different Korean names… but I can tell you that in the variety world Seungi has always been “Seungiyaaaaaa!” but with Kang Hodong I’ve heard him being called Hodongah as well as hodongie.. I think the latter ups the cute factor ^^
It’s a consonant/vowel thing. A name ending in a consonant sound gets -ie/-ah : Ho-dong-ie (+hyung)! or Ho-dong-ah! (Though he is at an age where people wouldn’t be calling him either, he calls himself Ho-dong-ie to be cute.)
A name ending in a vowel sound gets -ya : Seung-gi-ya!
It’s essentially to match ending sounds, no matter what the name is: Ho-dong-ie hyung / Seung-gi hyung, or Ho-dong-aaaah! Seung-gi-yaaaaa!

-rang isn’t a form of address. You’re either hearing “yang” which you’d add to the end of a girl’s name like Little Girl Suzy, or hearing the name in the context of “I went with Suzy,” in which case -rang means “with.”

I said “in competition with Uhm Tae Woong” because Seung Gi is doing so many things (sometimes simultaneously)–shows, tours, etc.–and Uhm Tae Wong (especially in the last year) has been in so many projects including Equator Man, variety, and two movies.

I don’t know why but when you reminded me of the Lee Seung gi and Kang Ho Dong bromance, I immediately thought of adding Yoo Jae Suk into the mix. NOT because of any inclination to have Yoo Jae Suk in every variety show that I watch BUT because of the Yoo Jae Suk & Kang Ho Dong comradeship. I would just love to see jealousy erupt between Yoo Jae Suk and Seung Gi over Kang Ho Dong.

It’s too exciting . . . I felt the urge to rewatch Shining nickel Inheritance for a moment, or Gumiho, for the Seung-gi puppy… b/c K2H is to much for me until it finishes its run (and he so much more serious, too… amazing growth, but not a puppy anymore).
1N2Ds1 makes me nostalgic. I hope new variety puppy gets Ho-Dong, I do. Then Ji-won, Joo-won, Seung-woo, Tae-woong, show up, and . . . at least one reunion a month, right?
and I just spotted . . . oh nos, military service (whenever that is). Perhaps they will figure out something beforehand so televisions won’t combust.

It’s good to see that this show ‘Table for 100″ is still a solid go for production. It’s been under discussion for several months now and I seem to recall that the 1N2D PD and Ho Dong were headed towards this when Ho Dong’s scandal interfered with those plans.
Ho Dong has been surfacing again in the public eye (he just attended a big celeb wedding) and due to the fact that he was found to be not guilty of the charges placed against him, it seems as if the path might be clear for a re-teaming of the dynamic duo of Seung-gi & Ho Dong.
Brand new show with experienced people running it – plus the ‘Boys’ MCing – what could be better?

I’m always at awe the way Seungi’s popularity and career works. His latest role in K2H makes you think he’d start changing his career route to more serious dramas and films. But nope, he’s going back to variety.
He’s one of those rare celebrities that can so naturally be apart of everything and be awesome at it.
Even if his public image is almost next to perfect, he doesn’t hold back from acting like a kid, playful, stingy, or mischievous on variety or dramas. And yet….. he still maintains that public image as a gentleman o_o
I’m sure when he reaches 40, he’d even make it as President. Does he even have anti-fans?
He truly is one of the only people who has manged to do it all and do it all pretty well. Sing, variety, acting (as well as getting a Master’s).

It has never occurred to me that Seung-gi would have a break off air. In between his dramas before I didn’t notice since there was 1N2D and then it was doubled when Strong Heart came, then this year he quit 1N2D then started King 2 Hearts then quit Strong Heart… and now that King 2 Hearts is done… then what?
and oh! When I first saw this news and it stated that the show involves 2 MCs the only combo I thought of with Seung-gi is Ho-dong!!!!

He even mentioned in some interviews last year that his enlistment may be this year.. or probably next year?
