Happy Friday, all Dramabeans Usual Suspects! I’m already at the office, sitting amongst mega-stacks of trial documents that need to be filed with the Court by noon today, so I’ll have to truncate my thoughts accordingly. And there’s been sooooo much going on in KDramaLand that I’ve just had to let slide for now. I kinda feel like the kid at the playground who is always picked last for softball, standing off to the side just watching… Sigh.
The DB Recappers are off-the-charts again!! I feel severely guilty that I must skip over several of the recaps because I have to catch up on my own RTP/K2H/EM/MP watching before reading, but you gals keeping up and posting within hours of the end credits are WANG DAEBAK!!
Not much going on in JCW World (which helps tremendously since I can’t be at a computer screen 24/7 to search around for gossip right now). Two more photoshoots for some magazines have just wrapped up (Nylon in June and High Cut in July), and several other periodicals are stacked up on my desk at home awaiting scanning and translating (and drooling over). Good to see that both WBDS and Smile, Donghae are racking up some unbelievably high ratings in Japan right now, and the WBDS Director’s Cut DVD Box Set should be released there sometime mid-July-ish. Why yes, I have pre-ordered my copy… don’t you guys know me by now?
And saengil chukha hamnida to my other crush (and one who I can still call OPPA! with a straight face) — Choi Min Soo!! Can you believe that bad boy turned 50 yesterday? RAWR!! “Happy Ending” is kinda draggy but I feel there’s some strong acting in there, and it’s doing fairly well in the cable ratings department, with over 1% being registered so far over its 6 episodes. Can’t wait to see him back in flowing sageuk robes when “Faith” premieres… might I dare hope that there might be a touch of Cheon sprinkled across his new character? IS IT AUGUST YET?!?
Anywho, I need to get back to acquiring several gazillion more paper cuts on my hands, so I hope you guys are all doing well and enjoying the end of another strange and/or glorious week (where applicable). Happy Mother’s Day in advance to everyone so situated in that category — anyone doing anything special in celebration? Do tell!
Be back laters — mata ne, minasan! *waves*
P.S. Ivoire sweetie, are you out there? Hope the most recent move went well and you can join us again soon!! HUGS!!
Happy OT Cherkell! ^^
JCW! (fan self) he is the cutest! saw his pic on twitter and omg, only wish he would tweet in english. (sigh) Can’t wait for his next drama. Hope he picks a good one!
Aw, are you saying that the moment I found that bad boy he turns 50? Oh. My.
I just marathoned Sandglass this week. I love everything about it and regretted the fact that it was aired 17years ago (means I can’t really have crush on Choi Min Soo and the camera works is not as good as now). But damn! It is one fine drama. It breaks my heart a couple time over but I still love it.
how were you able to marathon sandglass? I think the civil unrest keeps me at bay. I hate to see human beings go through that thing and I always think about how everything is the balance- as in you had bad ancestors so now you’re experiencing such a thing, ( It’s in the bible!) to calm myself but I really don’t have a stomach for civil unrest. there’s that scene in episode 7 or 8 when the two friends are at the lake across from each other in the dark shooting blindly at each other. then there’s the mom who sacrifices both of her sons. oy! I plan to watch finish it this weekend.
That was one of those dramas that left a mark.
I think I carried the after effects with me for that for weeks afterward.
I agree on CMS, but I fell harder for LJJ.
Since he was a HOT HOT property at the time, his character was added at the last minute to drum up female fans. It worked for me.
I cried myself to sleep for three days just thinking about him and his sticks.
If you watch Giant, they referenced many of the moments in Sandglass.
It was fun to see CMS and Park Sang Won together again in Legend, too.
yes, giant was the first time I knew anything about it and giant’s mention is sooo tame. park jin hee’s character unlike go hyun jung’s could just shrug them off, but she had a better father though. go hyun jung is frighteningly earnest in those scenes when she talks about how knowing these things she can’t go back to her life and live well.
me too. i don’t think i’ll ever look everything the same now.
i don’t know why, but i cry harder the moment all of his minions on their knees, because at that moment i felt what the minions felt. like he’s giving up. i don’t want my hero to ever gives up.
instead, I smiled and cried bitterly when Lee Jung Jae fights. i always knew that was coming for him..
Since you mentioned him… I LOVE Choi Min-soo. (Well, okay, I only really know him in his role in WBDS, so I can’t really say it’s the ACTOR I love, but he was everything I want in a man there… brooding, tormented, wounded, tough, cynical [but clearly as a self-protective measure]… gotta love a man who can play all that so well, right?
)
my all time ahjussi crush is chun ho jin.
Good morning Cherkell, *Hugs back*
The move went well (thank you for asking) and so I am living in San mateo for now. You are probably aware of this, however I thought I would share the info, just in case:
1–http://www.powerhouselive.net/koreanmusicwaveingoogle.aspx
2–http://www.dkpopnews.net/2012/05/news-korean-music-wave-in-google-open.html
You sound like you are having a busy day (when don’t you ever…). I hope it will slow down at some point, that you won’t get too many paper cuts and that you will have a wonderful weekend and will have a chance to enjoy the gorgeous weather.
Nice to see you back Ivoire! We missed you.
Good morning Mysti,
…
I hope your blog is going well! I briefly visited when you first announced it, and I haven’t gotten a chance to visit again. Good for you for taking the plunge. I liked the bit about what makes the American show “The Mentalist” a Korean drama, I had never thought of that, but I had watched a few episodes a couple of years ago. I thought your take on it was creative and a new slant on the show. I wish you much success with your blog and “Congratulations!!!!” by the way
Thanks for the praising! I’m happy too having started this. Just needed some nudging i guess. Now i’m sharpening my knives for the upcoming shows at the end of this month: Which one(s) to recap? Dilemma…
And for some reason, I have a feeling that you will do fine. So, who nudged you to take a chance and start your own blog? Are you considering recapping “I do, I do?” although I would not be surprised if it is picked up by the Dramabeans team. I think it is a good thing that there is a plethora of dramas coming up, it is better than the alternative, don’t you think?
I hope you will have a great weekend as well
!
@iv,
Between Raine, Deeno, jomo and you… LOL, i didn’t have a chance: I had to jump. I do, i do will be recapped for sure. But i also would like to do a little something for A Gentleman’s Dignity. Maybe something shorter like a funny review.
Awwwww… I honestly had no idea that I was among the people who encouraged/made you want to take the plunge and take a leap of faith. It’s rewarding when what we say, write and who we are encourages others to do something they had wanted to do or had had on their mind to do. I had no idea you had been thinking about having a blog, so again, kuddos to you
. I am glad I asked, because I had no idea I had anything to do with it even getting started. I am sure you are learning a lot in the process and you will probably make some new acquaintances along the way thanks to your blog.
The idea of a funny review for “a Gentleman’s Dignity” sounds like a good idea. will you be recapping CLBM till the end?
@ iv:
You definitely were one of the persons who triggered my decision. Remember my “coming out” and all the long posts in past OTs? And you’re right: The blog is just the first step. I bet on cascading consequences… You can see here you have a meaning in this crazy world, even if only for my little self.
Probably i will have to drop CLBM recaps. Not that i want to, but subs are not coming: Ep 3 subs status didn’t improve in 2 weeks, so i guess it’s dead. I really want to do quality stuff so i’m not going to fight for a lost cause: Present and future are more important and i’m hungry for other shows. At least i can say than a few people went and try watching first episodes of the CLBM drama because of me, and that’s the best reward.
I watched all 20 eps of CLBM raw, and am still scratching my head over the finale. Maybe I was expecting something different at the end, but it surely went out with a whimper in the last 15 minutes. But I’m not gonna ask for those 19.5 hours back, because it was definitely a worthy watch, especially for Vampy’s excellent performance and the supporting cast was daebak! Mysti, you sure picked a good one to call “MINE.” RAWR!
Wow!!!! So by coming out, do you mean the long post you wrote after the exchange we had on an article about “I do, I do?” I remember that you wrote a long post in the OT that week, revealing a little more of yourself to us. Is that the one you are referring to? Because that is the one I remember and how many people comforted you and gave you virtual hugs.
). And thank you for your compliment, I appreciate it. It is nice (again) to know as you put it “that I have meaning in this crazy world, even if only for your little self.”
So does that mean that the subsequent long posts were like a training for your eventual own blog? (I am just trying to follow your decision process here, you know how much into details I am
So sad that you will have to drop CLBM, but I agree with you about recapping quality dramas, you have to recap what you enjoy, considering how time consuming and how much work it is.
Ivoire,
Yes, THAT post with the big feelings unpacking i did on OT after the I do, I do discussion we both had. (I’m still surprised i had the guts to do it). I realized than maybe introversion was not my true nature: Maybe i could share and give the little i know. Have you ever thought working as a psychologist or a coach of some kind? Cause you sure achieved something with me. lol. This is what the dramabeans community and specially the OT means to me: Friends who can help for little or big things, even without knowing it. And sometimes in unexpected ways.
Long story made short: First, reading and lurking. Then short comments. Then interaction with others then longer posts. And finally my own blog, furthermore in English. I talked on tweeter about the butterfly effect of K dramas: I wasn’t lying.
Awwww Mystisith, you made my day!!!
Thank you for sharing this information with me, I guess God uses us in different ways to help people, nudge them along and comfort them when it is needed.
“Have you ever thought of working as a psychologist or a coach of some kind?” Interesting that you mention that, because when I was a teenager, trying to decide what I would do/be when I grow up, being a psychologist was what I wanted to be. I enjoyed talking, figuring things out and I LOVED talking about romantic relationships with my girlfriends and try to help them figure their boyfriends out, especially since I wasn’t dating then. Interestingly enough, I was always accurate at reading the guys’ actions (and their motives). I ended up studying philosophy, foreign languages and foreign affairs but I have maintained a deep interest in listening to others, being a sounding board if that is what is needed and an encourager(I have been told many, many times that I tend to encourage others a lot. I never realized how often I did it). I figured, since I like to talk, I need to learn to listen as well, so I have learned and I continue to learn to be a good listener.
.
I think it is important to let people know (who have helped you) that they have (and how), partly because it might be something they need to hear. You don’t share that to flatter them, you do because it might encourage them and they might need to hear it at that point in their life. So again, I appreciate you telling me all that you are telling me today, and I am glad that I was helping, even though I didn’t know it at the time, actually, I didn’t know until today. I remember that one of the things I did was ask some very pointed questions and I guess it is a good thing you choose not to run away from those questions.
Thank you for explaining your thought process to me (what led to the blog), I was curious about that. And I totally understand the whole Kdramas butterfly effect
THERE SHE IS! And only a short hop up the Peninsula — I was more worried about a long move (like to Pleasanton or something). Anyway, YAY WELCOME BACK!
Oh yes, the MBC/Google/K-Pop Concert at Shoreline is definitely on my radar. I’m going to attempt to grab 4 tickets, and if successful, I’ll just sit back on the lawn and let the little fangirls rush the stage instead, while watching everything on the Big Screens.
But we should get together soon anyway! I’ll give you a ping once I get out from trial prep later today!
So Cherkell,
When you watch dramas raw (the Korean ones), do you understand all of it, or at least some it? Because personally I have watched some episodes of Rooftop and The King as soon as they were available because I didn’t want to wait, and I do read the facial expressions and body language and their voices (the way they sound like angry, discouraged etc…) and I recognize a few words and expressions here and there but I still find that I missed a lot when I see the subbed version, and so I now prefer to wait for the subbed version because I personally like to understand every second of what is going on to fully appreciate and enjoy what I am watching. So, I was just wondering about how you feel about watching dramas raw in general? Are you totally OK with it? (as in, do you feel totally satisfied when you do?)
I thought you would know about the concert at Shoreline and I am glad you do. A lady from my church told me about it yesterday, and that is how I found out.
Thank you btw for the shout out and for the “Welcome back,” I am temporarily living in San Mateo, so who knows, I could end up in Pleasanton
(and LOL).
I don’t know if people here are aware of this and if anyone could participate (as in would have the time and are interested), but I thought I would also share this from the Korean Cultural Center in LA. The info is on their webpage:
http://www.kccla.org/english_/home_.asp
It is about the 2nd American K-pop contest. The deadline is May 25 to submit one’s info and the materials they request. Those interested can visit the webpage.
Holla, cherkell!
CMS turned 50? My! he doesn’t look it at all. It’s not so much his face, but his attitude. He is so much in the age-is-but-a-number category.
Happy OT everyone! Hope the week’s been good for you. Am still catching up with Rooftop Prince and King 2 Hearts. Thanks for all the reviews! 2 more weeks of dramas to go! Can’t bear to leave them
Me too, Matilda, although I am looking forward to the new dramas coming out as well.
Happy Friday DBeaners!
Hoping OT to not stand for Over Time for those working, including me! Friday night be free.
it is for me…
happy Friday to you too!
“Home is where the Heart is”: What a truthful truth!
And the Heart of those you love is the best home of all… Sniff…
Welcome and Happy OT everyone!
Happy OT Mystisith
“Home is where the Heart is” feel like have heard from some drama… but not sure which one…
Not a drama. It’s just one of those sayings that have been around for quite some time. It never gets old though.
Thanks for the info… no wonder i keep felt have heard those words, but are sure no drama have used it? my brain keep insisting its something from drama’s scene…
I haven’t seen your name in awhile, Fairycutter! How have you been? Hope all is well!
Hi! Kewbie…
All is Well here, little bit busy here with the kids preparing for the end of semester which they have to prepare 2 dance performances.
how’s your week?
p/s: i suddenly remember an indian movie called 3 idiots when reading ‘all is well’
did you know?
I love 3 idiots! one of fav. Though, only Aamir khan can play a 20 year old when he’s actually 40+
LOL! ‘only Aamir khan can play a 20 year old when he’s actually 40+’ right on bat.
@fairycutter Week has been busy/action-packed — just want to rest after this week
Myst! Happy Friday!
Shuk! *Hugs*.
Unni!!!!!! I’m not sure I like you anymore now that you’ve order me to be kiddnapped ^cries^
But there is always Stockholm Syndrome lol…
Hope you had a good week! <3
Who has ordered you to be kidnapped??
An evil evil person?
Or maybe they’re a kind person and have summoned me away to be friends with Korean Actors and Actresses as their english teachers and you know… friend! lol…
Feeling poetic this Friday afternoon?
Yep. And i need some good company. That’s why i’m here after all.
Good company? This is the right place
Sunrise in the east
I just got off from my job.
Hate that ball of fire…
– Shuk’s Ode to the Sun
Thanks for the haiku! Love them (and occasionally write 1 or 2 when i feel like it).
That’s about all the poetic I can wax right now until I get some sleep. lol Glad you like it!
Mystisith, Happy OT! ^^
Thanks! What’s new cv?
watching so many dramas–sleep deprived, tweeting–so fun, and I need to take a nap in a bit. LOL
Hope u having a good Friday! ^^
yeah, home is where the heart is, indeed.
if you find someone you love, there will be your home. sadly, i’m homeless now. my soul is wander around restlessly. ha.ha.
heyy,what’s up everybody! happy friday!
anybody watch Johnny Depp’s Dark Shadows? I need some comment ’cause i’m planning to watch it next monday.
Haven’t watched it, personally, but this review seems pretty comprehensive, if you haven’t seen it (I vaguely remember the short-lived Dark Shadows TV show of the ’90s — if what I’m remembering is what they’re talking about, I loved it — and I’ve always had a thing for Johnny Depp, so I imagine I might enjoy this show).
http://www.salon.com/2012/05/10/johnny_depps_delirious_dark_shadows/
I’m seeing it today!!!! Or maybe tomorrow. But it better be today!!!!
The short-lived series starred Ben Cross 1991.
The original starred Jonathan Frid 1966 – 1971.
Both were supposed to be scary.
I’m not sure what to think of this one, but I plan to see The Avengers first.
I’m a fan of 66-71. Not 91.
Me, too. the one with Jonathan Frid was so much scarier, at least I thought so.
Happy Friday Mystisith!
kewbie!
Happy Friday everyone!!!!
Happy Friday, RAFC!
Happy OT day everyone!!!!
Hope you all had a good week!!! <3
FIGHTING!!!!
PS) Isn't King 2 Hearts getting good??? It's the only drama I'm following at the moment (I suppose I'm following Hero as well but with recaps…) as I should (ie am not) studying for exams at the moment…. ^sigh^ But all is not lost as I am currently looking at super hot photos of my beloved Boyfriend <3
love xxx
Hi Leaf!
K2h is great! Hate waiting though. haha!
Study hard! Fighting!
Hi, Leaf
yup…. since the stake got high again, K2H definitely getting better and better. i’m happy didn’t give it up.
ah…. wed-thu dramas indeed very worth to wait (even its pain full)
K2H is the only Kdrama I’m following now as well. It’s hard to beleive a few months ago I was watching up to 10 ongoing kdramas simultaneously.
Any ways, good luck with school
Tina!!!
Hero looks good, and I’m reading the recaps, but both it and K2H will have to wait until fan fic is done, my life slows down, or I get the episodes directly hardwired into my brain – ha ha.
How much more do you have to study before your semester is over?
You’ll be able to watch them soon enough!! <3
And I have exams until 29th May
But apart from Mandarin (this monday and yes… I haven't done any studying yet ^sighs^) I don't care what I get as I only have to pass this year as it doesn't count for my final degree.
But it's a pain… stressing about how I should be studying
Ask Ricky how he balances all that stuff. Maybe he can give you pointers.
haha it’s nothing about balance…
I just need to start learning how to actually do work…
^sigh^
How to start?
LOL I ask myself this question a lot!
Hey Ricky!
Hope you’re well
I somehow ended up in a long conversation this morning with a fellow US expat who spent some time in Malaysia. He told me some absolutely fascinating things (relating to ethnic and religious issues and divides), and I had to wonder about other perspectives on these issues (read: I don’t know this guy that well, so have no idea how much of what he says to believe or trust).
Do share, Sethe!
Okay… well, most of the anecdotes he was relating had to do with religion and/or ethnicity. He told me some story, for example, of a Chinese Buddhist couple who were accosted by the religious (Sharia) police at some shopping center because she was sitting on his lap. They showed their religion cards (apparently everyone has to carry a card documenting their religion?), but the police didn’t believe them, and wanted to prosecute them for their improper (according to Islam) behavior… the couple fought (and eventually won) a long legal battle.
He also shared some stories about people adopted as babies into a family with a different ethnicity and religion, and how those families have had to fight in court to get the right to have their adopted kids buried under the religion they were raised in (and presumably believed in), rather than the religion their ethnicity would put them under.
He was also just marveling at how open the racism is there… people, for example (he says) will put ads in the newspaper for roommates and say “Chinese only.” Obviously racism exists in the US as well, but it’s… different…
Anyway, fascinating stuff… I’m starting to wonder why I’ve avoided the expat crowd so much while I’ve been out of the US… now that I’ve been hanging around them a little, it seems they’ve got some pretty fascinating stories and life experiences to share.
@ Sethe
It’s one of the things that irk me about Malaysians. Some people are still very narrow-minded and refuse to mingle. Objectively speaking, racism is more rampant in the Peninsular. The three main races – Malay, Chinese and Indian there always speak about the spirit of being one. We even have a slogan called “1Malaysia” to promote national unity. Although the slogan is being shouted at every formal event, the virtue is still not fully accepted.
Here’s where religion and language plays a part. Some people refused to accept differences. I experienced it myself when I first arrived at my college in the Peninsular some years ago. I literally saw three different groups of people! The Malays would only mix with other Malays etc. To make matters worse, I felt the brunt of racism once upon a time ago. Peninsular Malaysians seem to think Malaysians from Borneo are backwards people. I find it offensive and I normally say “Look at me, do you think I look like I live in caves?”. That would shut them up pretty quick.
I for one find racism ridiculous. I roomed with a Chinese, a Malay and an Indian before. What’s the big deal anyway? We got along extremely well.
And btw, no, we don’t carry religion cards.
Sorry for the late reply
Hey Leaf!
Happy OT and hang in there with the finals! It’ll all over soon…
Happy Friday, Leaf! Whaddup??
Good luck with your exams!
5, not bad.
) I’m LOVING rooftop prince, K2H, AND Fashion King! Give Fashion King a try. Yeah for the weekend!!
No thanks, even YAI can’t save Fashion King, and so is LJH.
All the acting is great… I just hate the storyline… now I’m waiting for the ending.
‘Just Storyline?’ but i don’t want get angry at each scene, i’ll pass on this one.
better get Wan Deuk-i fast… before i get temped…
LOL me neither… I stopped watching it after the first few episodes. Just been skipping around watching one here and there. Been following recaps..but still, yea, the storyline makes me want to pull my hair out. So many misunderstanding–leads going around eachother…urgh! guess not really my kind of drama. LOL
cv, please stop hurting yourself…
lucky for us, there is a lot of good dramas this season, enjoy yourself.
beside, we always have SKKS or TWDR or other LJH dramas to satisfy our hunger of them…
and don’t forget WanDeuk-i
That is why I’m just gonna wait until the end of the drama and watch what happens to them. LOL
Hope those curiosity didnt kill you!! hehe
Happy OT/Friday all! What an awsome week it has been! Great recaps and great dramas, what else can you ask for more! ^^
happy ot!
Happy OT to u too ahjummabunny! ^^
Hope ur week went well!
my week was drama filled and sleep deprived! I haven’t felt this good in a long time!
Hehe!Glad to hear that. I think most of us here are sleep deprived. LOL So many good dramas at the same time will do that. I’ve decided to watch only some and wait to watch the others another time. Otherwise, I think I’ll go bunker.
I’m with you there, cv. Just too much yummy tasty drama fare out there, so I’m going to deprive myself of some to try on later when there’s nothing but junk out there.
I think the spring tends to be a good time for dramas (last year’s BL for instance). Maybe it’s the cherry blossoms.
shuk, could be! ^^ Just as long as the summer have great dramas too. If not, I can always watch the ones I missed in the spring! how awsome is that! for once… there’s something to watch. LOL
That’s how I’m looking at it! Of course, my archive bucket already has about 15 dramas in it. [sigh]
Happy OT cv
Happy OT zgznoona!
Happy friday Oters, beaners, i’m back…
long time no visit OT due to internet conection, now its run fine, happy to get back here…
currently watching Queen In Hyun’s Man, and K2H and RTP.
Gosh, Love QIHM much, but the sub is slow, Dear Drama God, please always bless the QIHM subber…
QIHM has taken priority in my watching schedule right now. The subs are coming faster: Just one ep behind! And episodes are longer too!
On the other side, Wedding Scheme is losing me. Oh well, i suppose tvN can’t have ONLY great shows…
i’m still waiting for ep 7 sub…
indeed, compare to ep 1 and 2, now its faster.
wedding plot, i’m not yet watching, have to wait till inet conec very stable or i’m gonna get high blood pressure for wait to long to download, but keep update by recap…
Me, too!
I love love love love this show.
I have re-played them all too many times to count.
Especially one or two scenes in Ep 8.
(I will say no more.)
This couple makes me feel like movie love is real. Just as I felt about the OTP in M2F. There is something authentic, relatable about them.
I love JHW, but I think we need to give YIN a lot of credit for doing an aMAZing job falling in love with him.
It seems like 16 eps are too short…I don’t know how they could do it, but how about a second season?
i’m also guilty of re-watching a certain scene in ep 8 one too many times secretly in my room and giggling like a teenage girl. ahhh their chemistry is just too real. i need eng subs tho bc i’m totally confused as to what happened at the end of the episode. and does this mean these 2 won’t have any scenes together in the next ep
I don’t think they will, so I am counting on flashbacks.
They are good at showing FB’s we haven’t seen yet, which makes me love them even more!! (Unlike some dramas that FB to two minutes ago…)
Please stop tempting, now i want to watch episode 8 but lit bit afraid actually.
episode 7, is very tempting to watch but have to wait for sub to understand better.
@Mystitisith: you excited me for a moment … I though QIHM #7 was subbed but when I checked dramacrazy, they still had it in raw. Is there another source? I absolutely love QIHM and have taken to streaming it live now.
I am so late for OT this week… taking a break in a workday that started 15 hours ago and looks as if I have at least 15 more hours of work to do… arg. I am consoling myself that I should at least make it home to spend mother’s day with my daughter (even if it will be spent in bed recovering from my Friday/Saturday work marathon).
Here is Scattered Jooni’s blog.
She does really fast recaps you can understand the raws right away. She is up to 8 now, and has the preview of 9 translated.
http://joonni.com/
Here is Dramatalk blog with recaps up to 7 now.
She does the dialog so it’s nice to watch and read along.
http://maymaywatch.blogspot.com/
Thanks, off to Jooni’s blog.
I’ll need to catch up on QIHM. Why oh why so many good dramas this season. Awwwww!
because Drama God feel guilty over sooo many bad dramas last year.
LOL. Now we need the names of those bad dramas: Talk too much or not enough… Hehe.
Let the Pros choose the name, kinda bad at that area…
LOL Right on that!
so many good start and then went down the hill half way through or the story just went nowhere.
Great point!
I even remember a Great Drama Drought of early 2011…
There was NOTHING on to love.
I know! I just grin like an idiot whenever the main couple’s onscreen. I’m not feeling guilty at all for dropping Rooftop Prince.
Me too, grin like an idiot over those sparkles between YIN and JHW.
the thing is, i do feeling guilty drop RTP, not hate it, it just because of net connection that barrier me to download its episodes past episode 3 (or maybe because some certain jung yumi, and tae sung and some grandma, hehe).
when RTP done, will considering to pick it up again IF i didnt caught by another dramas. but faithfully update RTP by recaps.
Wow, I was surprised I had to scroll down to item 9 to find a QIHM thread, LOL.
I am also watching RTP at the same time, although I find it suffers in comparison. I was just fine with RTP until I marathoned the first four episodes of QIHM, and then I really couldn’t go back and feel the same way about it.
RTP has it’s moments, but it just feels – shallower, I guess. I don’t get the attraction between PH and the Prince that I get between BD and HJ. I don’t feel as much urgency, although the problems in RTP are even more dire.
And BD just owns as a hero – smart, calm, kind, yet able to fight with any given implement at hand – I haven’t enjoyed a lead this much since City Hunter.
Now I absolutely love QIHM. But that is no reason to drop Rooftop Prince. Even though it is now my third favorite drama (after QIHM and K2H).
Happy OT Day everyone!
Confession: I have an inexplicable love for Love Rain. I don’t quite get it. Everything about it should make me run away screaming as I attempt to preserve my sanity, and yet I cannot turn away. I’m guessing it has to do with a certain JGS, one who is surprisingly honest and straightforward about his feelings (and who looks the closest to being a man as I have seenn him in a while).
Please tell me I am not alone with my secret shame!
It’s a good drama, nothing to be ashamed. I was bored in the beginning and dissed it but it got so much better. The cinematography is top. Though I’m not ardently following as it is not really my type of drama.
he looketh like a man! He looks like a man! I just remembered that’s Ms. Swan’s description of someone . . .
Happy OT!
I don’t think you are the only one.
I love JGS’s acting too. I have not seen LOVe Rain yet but plan to soon.
I heard it’s really good–melo drama. I may be bias here but anything with JGS is good. hehe
I’m enjoying it, too, to my surprise. The 70′s eps were kind of slow, and JGS’s character in that part was very frustrating. But I guess they needed a contrast to his character now.
And, I was just thinking abt JGS as I watched yesterday, “Wow, he no longer looks like a girl!!”
LOL JGS–his look is girly but he’s manly at the same time too.
Can’t wait to see! Maybe I’ll marathon this on memorial weekend. ^^
“(and who looks the closest to being a man as I have seenn him in a while).”
LOL Why even though you said that it’s hard to imagine JGS looking manly? and yet he did in BV and a couple of early movies
Die hard fan of JGS am I, but I’ve got so sick of his girlish mane that I have sworn to not watch any of his dramas unless he gets it cut short. Real short like a man..
LOL but he looks so good in them.
well, some anyway. I saw pics and the 2012 persona of him in LR-his hair isn’t bad at all.
Yeah I actually did see a picture of him with short, short hair and he looked pretty good! I think he should stick to that style. His hair in LR isn’t too terrible, though…the modern day him, not that 70s him.
As MJ would sing, “Youuuu are noooot aloooonnne!”
I love Love Rain, even though these past 2-3 episodes have been heartbreaking. I love that Seo Joon finally admitted to his dad that he actually loves someone (Ha Na), espcially when he said he didn’t believe in love in episode 5, I think. I’m bummed to see the low ratings, but I think it’s because the first four episodes had a slow start. Either way, I still enjoy it quite a bit. I really want to see how they resolve both the parents’ relationship and the kids’ relationship. I think there has to be acceptance all around them for both relationships to work — either that or someone has to die, which I hope doesn’t happen.
You are absolutely not alone in this, girlfriend. Love Rain is another drama that was not on my list until you’ll people in OT started posting about it. So I skipped the first 4 episodes, marathoned the rest and started watching it live last week. I do like most of the dramas that JGS is in … he does know how to act and I really like him in this show. Add to that the cinematography and OST … I know why I am hooked.
Agreed. The first 4 episodes are just setup . . . after that, Love Rain is a great family drama. The emotions are both realistic and feverishly romantic. Seo Jun is written very, very well as a son of a divorced family caught in between.
Among all of his shows, this is Jang Geun Suk’s emotionally “there” performance. And Yoona’s acting here is the surprise here. You expect her to be pretty good with the rom-com stuff, but the last two episodes, it’s really her performance that breaks your heart.
han yeoja ga, drama taemoonae, sent her boss this text message Monday morning- “I’ve been sick all weekend and need one more day to recover.” If that boss had responded with, “what kind of sickness?” the girl would’ve had to admit it’s only dramafever and possibly lose her job, and continue to have dramafever for 3 months before she would have to find a job.
Well, I finished secret garden it’s tied with city hall and it’s second after city hall in my heart. I feel like an idiot because I watched that drama with advertisements even though I have a netflix subscription, it wasn’t until the last episode that I . . .
Ocn’s Hero is breaking my heart a little. It’s still great- I’m still mad about yang dong geun and the basic story, I only feel that we’ve thrown that story away. I’m going to pray that there is a season 2. Another thing that I’m thinking of is the air time for cable dramas, who is up at 11pm or 3am watch a drama! I heard an instrumental song in hyena that I knew, but I couldn’t find by listening to snippets of songs on my media player but I think I found it this morning. I’m only slightly disturbed that the release dates are off the instrumental plays in a drama from 2006 and the song with lyrics was released in 2010.
I’m ready to start a new drama king 2 hearts is calling my name (ha ji won really), Dramabeaners recommend something!
I think cable channels are smart doing a counter-scheduling. They are not running with the same goal anyway. And the more i think about it, the more i believe TV ratings are not important anymore: I was blind, and i saw the light. All happens on the web now.
I’m with you there with the web etc, etc ( excuse me, I’ve had 10 hours of sleep this week) but when I hear that dramas are being shortened because of ratings I dislike it.
LOL dramafever is a really contagious diseases.
I went to bed at 9:30 am Monday morning after marathoning dramas all weekend. I’m blaming Deeno and JoAnne for it, but that’s another story.
I’m so glad you’re in love with SeGa.
By the way, what did your sister say about will it snow for christmas?
my sister punched me, made a lot of chirpy noises about go soo.
I see, nothing out of the ordinary.
[spits water] HA HA HA
lol
yeah easy peasey.
Hi there!
If you’re looking for a good show, I’d definitely recommend Queen In-hyun’s Man. The pace is satisfying, the leads are super cute and awesome (a hero who is actually a warm and intelligent human being to begin with! a heroine who is cute without being milquetoast! a main pairing who actually get along and don’t hurt each other for no reason!! so much Cute!), the director was the PD for Vampire Prosecutor (and you can tell – this show is super stylish), and it’s just. so. awesome. And Ji Hyun-woo. Watch for Ji Hyun-woo.
Did I mention that I love this show? If you ask me, it’s gonna turn out to be the best time travel show of the year.
Count me in when the vote is available, QIHM jjang (at least for now since we havent seen another or two other time travel dramas).
okay ji hyun woo is a favorite of mine since his turn as tae oh in my sweet seoul. okay keep the recommendations coming!
I haven’t started watching this yet, but I loved the male lead when he was in My Sweet City. (He may have been the best part of the show, in fact—all gangly and good-hearted.) I’ve got my fingers crossed that DramaFever will eventually get this drama, too…
They HAVE TO.
I demand it!
I wish they would jump in sooner than later and sub.
What do they do with all our membership money anyway?
They have a little page for it. The page that means the drama will eventually come eventually but who know when eventually is,lol. I’m waiting for the drama to finish while simultaneously stalking every site that has it subbed. Lol, I love it so much and I haven’t watched it. I knew my heart was leading me to gold when I first heard of it and thought “this sounds soooooo much better than RTP”. Though, I haven’t watched that either to be fair. Pretty soon K2H and RTP will be over and then no one will hear from me for at least a week.
OH and Happy Friday everyonnnne

Here’s a pic of Kim Sun Ah looking hot (and hotter than Lee Jang Woo dear I say) and I get paid tomorrow! WHEEEE!
I third – or fourth – or fifth this recommendation. This is my favorite show of the year so far, and at first I wasn’t even going to watch it because I hated Ji-Hyun Woo’s previous show (The Show That Must Not Be Named) with a flaming, all-consuming dislike that included his horrible character. I’m glad I listened to those first intrepid QIHM fans because this is a fantastic show: great directing, acting, and writing, and with that item rarer than rubies and more precious than diamonds: a NICE hero not ‘played for laughs’.
It’s sad but I can think of two shows he’s been in that you might be talking about. Poor guy finally got a break with QIHM, though. Hopefully this is a turning point in his career because I really like him… I’m just not willing to watch a horrible drama for him.
The only show of 2012 that I like better is Shut Up, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up tied with QIHM.
I feel so blessed to be going through a stellar year like 2012. The dramas this year have been fantastic… I am in drama heaven right now. But I do agree that QIHM and SUFBB are 2 of my favorites this year. And I still have Kim Sun Ah and Lee Min Ho’s dramas to look forward too.
God of War if u r in a saguek mood. It’s really good!
shiku!
My sageuk chingu! god of war actually got bumped up my list when I search chun ho jin’s name to look at his photos. I have room for it! which other sageuk are you recommending?
Hi Ahjummabunny,
Not watching any other saguek but am keeping my eye on KBS saguek in the fall on Kim Chuchu.
Hey, ya’ll. Starting out the day right. My daughter’s friend that we pick up for her early morning class just called to see where we were. I forgot to set the alarm, I was supposed to be there 30 mins ago. No point now….
THought I’d see if OT was up, but I think I’m too bleary eyed to write more. Be back in a while.
i ta ba!
Hi Shel! Happy OT!
Have a good day!
Shel – Catch some zzz’s and you’re sittin’ on top of the world…
OK, I”m apparently not going back to sleep.
LOVING LOVING LOVING K2H. But I’m afraid to watch ep 16, looks scary. RTP this week left me with a WHAT?! If they kill off anyone important I’m gonna be looking for the writers. Or send Deeno after them, she likes that kind of stuff, lol.
Love Rain is better than I had expected and as I said somewhere else on the OT today, whoda thought JGS could look so much like a GUY. Weird, eh? I was following FK, now I”m kind of fast forwarding through it, only because of YAI. Both main characters are frustrating me to death, I’m probably just going to check recaps for the rest unless something changes. So, since I dropped that one, I have time for QIM. I’ve only seen two episodes, but Ricky’s girlfriend is adorable in it and so is that guy….you know, the guy who spent the entire ATK Trainwreck looking miserable?…..he gets to smile in this one. Yay! I can’t remember his name, lol.
Shuk’s story is just getting better and better, and I get to be the bad guy. :0)
In RL the strawberry farmer at the end of the road opened for the summer this week. I made our years supply of Strawberry Jam. Love fresh strawberry jam, and it’s the easiest to make….no peeling or pitting involved.
The June gloom fog set in, foggy every morning until the sun burns it off around noon, rolling back in in the evenings. It’s really summer here….weird, cuz my brain is still back in Feb/Mar somewhere. It’s going to be a busy summer at my house, but I’m looking forward to it.
I’m salivating at the mention of home made strawberry jam, and fresh from the farm too.
Hi shel! Hope you are doing well today.
I love QIM so much that I practically wait for Thursday to come every week… it’s like I’m living for Thursdays hahaha. But what happened in Episode 8 really threw me off why did it have to happen… TT
I always feel really sad when a drama transits from it’s light, happy tone to the inevitable angst. >:
that angst is not inevitable! I have seen many dramas without it recently, or maybe the angst made more sense?
I feel like the angst could have been executed in another way rather than THAT. It just really makes me depressed haha. But then again I’m a psychotic drama fan who always gets too emotionally invested in the characters so…
I think every drama has a bit of angst, however little. Otherwise won’t there be no conflict??
it goes conflict—–>angst. I did really mean more realistic conflict and angst. One that’s sticking out the most in my memory now- Protect the boss: our couple broke up because the guy realized he wasn’t somebody the girl could trust and lean on and he didn’t want to be that person to her anymore. If you think about it of course, the break reinforces her assessment of him, but we’ll say that he just took a break to come back stronger. which is better than typical noble idiot stuff.
I was looking forward to watching it as a balance to TK2H’s heavy, but the slicing of the amulet dashed my hopes.
Bugger. I should learn not to read about QIH in case I read a spoiler accidently. I was planning to watch it after K2H ends. I assume it’s a bad omen.
Okay ” ck covers eyes ” won’t ask and won’t read.
I’m sorry, my bad!
Awww, my heart broken already… and i’m not even watching it yet…
Hello everyone. Is the OT early today? It is usually almost 1am my time when it comes on.
Just a question, who’s watching what? I am getting confused with which drama is coming out next. My plans were to
1. Watch Bride Mask which is on Wed Thurs 30th May.
2. Big with Gong Yoo. Why else
Then somewhere in drama land, got confused with the Time Slip Dr Jin, The Gentlemen’s Dignity. Then Queen In Hyun’s Men which is still on Wed and Thur right?
Plus Arang is in July right? Did I miss out a great drama? I feel as if I am missing out on a great drama but I forgot which one because there are still so many. There is still Fondant Garden the TW to finish off. But there is nothing great coming out. Oh crap forgot I do, I do.
You guys planning to watch ALL or some or just ONE or TWO?
I think i will watch everything (i will try anyway). I do, I do is the one i’m waiting for the most right now, with GD.
And what about all those sequels coming this summer; Full House2, Ten and VP season2, I need Romance2.
I KNEW I Need Romance 2 is the drama I thought I was missing. Thanks for reminding me
What is GD? Okay my drama list is full, I can’t handle 4 dramas. I will drop I do, I do in favour of INR 2. I am now well and truly watching Standby and it’s light and entertaning. Won’t be doing any Korean homework revision if I am watching so many dramas.
Gentleman’s Dignity with our F44! You can’t miss that! The teaser is already fun.
I might
There are just not enough hours of the day.
So will there be 4 ladies for the 4 gentlemen? If it’s only one Kim Ha Neul, not enough draw for me though I like her.
I am actually kinda looking forward to Gentleman’s Dignity, too. Looks funny.
I plan to watch everything that’s coming out. I dislike kim haneul but I have to see kim min jong, I’m not a minnow but I have to see lee philip ( does he use philip lee?) in faith and then there’s a gazillion cable dramas that are on hulu and the gazillion on my netflix queue and the gazillion on my dramafever queue. is there anyone else who pronounces this word queue as key? my friend and I are the only 2 guyanese people I know who do it after learning it in school. granted, I don’t socialize with many expatriated guyanese. what was I talking about?
I always forget that you are from Guyana…I think because for a long time in the beginning I had you confused with Zg. I pronounce it ‘Q’.
why, do you know my real name by chance? I think at one time I mentioned it- Bonita. that would be a way for you to confuse us I suppose.
Nope, I think it’s just that I met you at the same time and I thought you were from Spain, but that’s her. What a pretty name!
I’ve always pronounced it “kyoo”, but I’ve never really listened to other people pronounce it.
I once pronounced fatigued as “fay-ta-gyoo’d” and got laughed at.
Sometimes English sucks.
I used to pronounce definitely as dehfeenightly until I was 15 or so but that’s because I learned that word by reading. I haven’t been laughed at, I’ve been pat on the head/back for speaking english without much of
1. An African accent- Guyana is in Africa to a lot of people
2. A spanish accent- My first name is Bonita.
The only thing I know about Guyana is that there was a British Guyana and a French Guyana. I might even be wrong about that. And without looking at a map, yeah…I’d think it was on the African continent. I am woefully ignorant.
Guyana is the romanization of an Amerindian word ( native american) for that particular portion of the south american continent formerly known Guiana. In the early days it was spelled Guiana/British Guinana. Our current spelling is to honor the Amerindian preference and mark our independence. French Guiana ( not post-colonial) is our neighbor, we play football against them from time to time. Guyana is the only english speaking country in south america.
I don’t have exact plan, just wait and see, when drama came out, check trailer, if already good enough and not misleading ( i had bad city hunter’s trailer experience), go watch, if not wait till recap come, then decide which one i’m gonna watch or which two, three maybe???
Bridal Mask, Big and Arang cannot be missed.
I am working on Bride Mask and Arang so will probably watch each episode at least 3 times. Of course I can’t miss Arang
I think, seriously thinking will watch I need romance 2 instead of Big or GD. Just to have a change in pace. I can’t cope if there are 4 angsty dramas on one week, my emotions will be wrecked.
Plus I am catching on QIH, Fermentation Family and Dal Ja’s Spring. After some of you went on and on about the Lee Min Ki seduction scenes. Which by the way, is loaded onto my MF folder. If anyone wants the drama plus the subs.
I don’t think Big will be very angsty, I think it will be fun like most Hong Sister’s fare.
I’m catching Bridal Mask because I like period shows and hope for some good action.
Arang, for Shin Min Ah. She is all that is needed LOL.
isn’t fermentation family wonderful! Last night I was sort of lost about which drama to watch and I remembered kim ji woo chaka as a favored writer and considered starting the devil.
I would love to download your Dal ja’s Spring. How do I do this? I only watched it through a lo res stream and don’t think I got the full experience.
Personally, I’m really looking forward to Bridal Mask. I will watch the others, Arang and Faith to see if they are any good, but BM better not disappoint like BVS.
I think i will have to check out everything.. then make my decision…
I’m loving QINM and k2h right now… the chemistry of the leads on both are off the chart..
GD, Big and INR2 are on my to watch list.. but will give Timeslip, I Do I Do, ghost and bridal mask a try… come last this month and next… then see whether any of those worth keeping…
then come late summer.. i will not miss LJK’s arang and VP2..
so many drama.. so little time…
off to Tdrama… loving Fondant garden..
Oh yea, so many dramas, so little time to watch.
IF only there was 48 hrs in a day instead. LOL
Gonna watch all definitely!!!! =)
I think we need a Drama calendar. So many good shows coming out that I forget when exactly.
I want to watch… A Gentleman’s Dignity, Arang, Big, Faith, I Do I Do, and Time Slip Dr Jin. Bride Mask I’ll mostly likely read recaps for. Dang, so many so little time.
I’m planning on watching Big and Bridal Mask. Those are the dramas I’m looking forward to the most. Soooo many people I like!
Lee Min Jung!
Park Ki Woong!
Gong Yoo!
Joo Won!
All the pretty. Not enough heartbeats in a minute to contain my love.
there’s so many dramas coming and i haven’t even start on Rooftop.
i think im going to catch up with Rooftop and definitely will watch Big.
will check out Arang, I Need Romance 2, Joo Won’s new drama and will decide later what works for me.
Oh yes. I want to watch I Need Romance 2 also. So many things to watch. And my to-watch list is pretty long too.
On my list of upcoming dramas to watch are:
- Bridal Mask (with Joo Won – May 2012)
- I do, I Do (with Kim Sun Ah – May 2012)
- Ghost (with So Ji Jub – May 2012)
- Big (with Gong You – June 2012)
- Arang, Magistrate’s Chronicle (with Lee Jun Ki and Kim Min Ah – July 2012)
- Faith (with Lee Min Ho – August 2012)
- Nice Guy (with Song Joong Ki – August 2012)
I may watch Time Slip, Mr Jin (but it is iffy as I am really not a Song Seung-heon fan).
Good morning / afternoon / evening / night / world!
Focusing on RTP and QIHM right now for currently-running KDramas, and Answer for JDrama fix. I’m archiving Hero (OCN), K2H, and Equator Man as there aren’t enough hours in the day.
For the record, I want a guy like Boong Do! All those smarts and kissing ability too! I hope he can figure out how to get back to the future.
No recent new books, although I’m skimming The Count of Monte Cristo for light reading (har har) occasionally. Basically like a chapter a week waiting for dinner to finish cooking.
No recent crazy food creations.
Posted 12 new chapters of the book this week, with an additional 7 waiting in the wings. Final arc coming soon!
Who doesn’t want Boong do~ ^^ Haha perfect man much? And rich to boot too hahaha.
I’m sure he’ll find a way, but it’ll probably take one to two episodes of pain-filled, heart clenching sadsadsad episodes for that objective to be achieved. ):
I finished my cat who series this week, started book 4 of the pendragon cycle and I wistfully thought about carolyn wells’ pennington wise but I want to read a book with people who are eating and describing it well. I am hemingway raised! how about music? I preordered fiona apple and regina spektor’s new albums this week. I heard the single from fiona which is typical fiona and all kinds of wordy wonderfulness, regina’s single was a tom waits rip off but it’s like he said with the piano your fingers just go in all the familiar places so I forgive her and I like the song anyway. Are you buying any music?
I just bought the most recent Lacuna Coil and Shinedown releases, but other than that, it’s just a song here and there.
In OST Land, still searching out QIHM songs; and I already have most of RTP OST.
Count of Monte Cristo….one of my all time favorite classics. Took me a couple of years to buy an unabridged translation, tho. I’ve read it 3 or 4 time, I think.
My daughter finds it pretty funny that I’m the bad guy in your story. Although, when she’s supposed to be doing her schoolwork, I’m sure she’s thinking you’re right. I’m so mean, won’t let her twitter or youtube while she’s doing lessons.
Well, as I told cv I’m just a hair away from finishing the current arc, then it’s downhill to the final ending. I can see the end on the horizon, which is good because the current scenes are set for June 1/2/3 timeframe.
I’ll probaby go back to my previous book and work on it. One of two lead couples are in their 80′s, so they can’t wait forever. lol
ME TOO!!! I want BoongDo too!!!
But now the problem is that BoongDo forgot that he went to future totally!!! I hope he’ll find his memory soon.. =(
@Shuk: I am going to read your new chapters on mother’s day as I just didn’t have any time this week or last. I am covering for 2 people at work and it is killing me. Praise the lord they are back on Monday.
Oh man I swore that I wouldn’t watch QIHM until much later but then I thought oh c’mon I already know the first 4 episodes so what’s the harm eh – and COULDN’T STOP WATCHING!! What is this!! …oh no but thanks to comments above I’m not looking forward to episode 8 GRRRR…
Also I need a time turner. How do the all awesome DB recap team do it?! I am SO behind on K2H and RTP! Only keeping up via recaps – without all you lovely ladies and gentlemen here at DB I would be so deprived. Thanks guys! You make the week so much easier to endure
I can’t even keep up with the recaps much less the dramas. Have to skip EQM, Running Man recaps as it is. Plus skipping the QIH recaps as well
Me, too. I think I will wait a bit to watch QIM.
Join me in marathoning QIM when it’s over, kewbie?? Lol. We can gush together even if it 10 years late, ahahaha!
Hahha the only way I’m keeping up with anything now are through the recaps, which I read on the commute to work. Haven’t watched a variety show in ages!! I really miss 1N2D! Although Joo-Won has now quickly become one of my favourites in the new season (just via recaps). He’s so adorable!!
Anyway it’s probably a good idea to hold off on QIHM recaps for now – the story is so freaking awesome, it really is one of the better time travelling stories in the recent offerings!! So might be better for it to finish and then you can watch it all at one go!
I have faith in Boong-Do’s ability to reason his way out of any crisis, no matter which time period he may be in. And I would say that the sweet in Episode 8 far outweighs the sour, if that makes you feel any better.
Totally agree!
The sweet in ep 8 outweighs the sorrow in all of the sad episodes of every other drama this week!
“oh no but thanks to comments above I’m not looking forward to episode 8 GRRRR…”
Why don’t you want to watch ep 8?
It is super duper good!
Or did you mean you are NOW looking forward to 8?
Hahah I’d heard rumors of episode 8 that I shalln’t repeat here in case anyone is trying to avoid spoilers! But the show is seriously good!!! I was marathoning it all of last night ARGH there goes my social life LOL
Friday!
Finished: JIN
Watching: RTP, QIHM,Love Rain,Kagi no Kakatta Heya, New My Fair Princess, H.I.T.
JIN Season 1 or 2?
I found Season 2 so much better, too much overacting in 1.
JIN 1 so far, will do 2 probably this weekend.
isn’t go hyun jung awesome in hit! I really like the hit couple.
i once watched HIT, and GHJ is indeed fantastic, but the male lead seem off, i don’t know, just felt not right. but then again, only watch 4 or so episode.
Yes, I’m enjoying HIT, on Ep 3 so far , I have a ways to go. So many dramas, not enough time.
This weekend i will marathon God’s Quizz seasons 1 and 2: I watched the first 3 eps and i’m hooked. (Another Nice Guy for those who like characters like Bong Doo).
Then i will watch season 3.
I added them to my hulu queue too. sigh! I’m also watching immortal classic, sweet spy, glass slippers, and I wanted to start damo or what happened in bali!!!!!
I dropped Immortal Classic. Feast of The Gods is so much more fun! Apparently the production did a viewers poll to decide who will end with the heroine at the end… And there is a nasty war going on on the Web: Joo Sang-wook VS Lee Sang-woo.
kyuro! I liked immortal classic’s starting episodes compared to feast of the gods. The both have birth secrets, dangerous women but immortal classic’s rationale is better and more in keeping with what can be considered palatable! I’ll switch if you tell me the food is better in feast, because unlike fermentation family the food porn is almost nonexistant or irrelevant in i.c.
The food is definitely better presented in FOTG. Not a lot of scenes but they are long enough and well shot. Damn… If i could grab the plates through my screen. There is a wonderful scene where they use a whole lotus flower: I was -00-
That must be something: a netizen war over Joo Sang-Wook vs Lee Sanf-Woo. I wouldn’t know who to choose. Do you know who’s winning?
It’s complete chaos! The script of this drama is almost as wtf than the Fashion King one: 2 handsomes fighting for a doll girl unable to make a decision. It’s push and pull in all its glory. Maybe no one will win and each character will go its way? I frankly don’t care from the moment my boys are on the screen.
Heheh. YOu’re right. It’s so WTF that I don’t even need subs to watch and enjoy it. It’s absurd anyway. But so easy on the eyes.
I wouldn’t mix this show with What Happened in Bali, then – WHIB is the ultimate push/pull over indecisive girl drama. So much so, that the ending made total sense, to me.
I haven’t seen god’s quiz but I heard it’s goood? hmm, will check this one out too.
Happy OT everyone!
Awesome week in drama, right? RTP and K2H upped the stakes along with my anxiety. I can’t wait to finally know the mystery with RTP. Cannot tell ya how many times I’ve fretted over the princess in the pond vs BY in the pond. It all culminated in a big headache as I searched for clues. AND THAT FLIPPING TURTLE! When will I get an answer for you?
I started to watch Legal High, which makes me laugh nonstop. Masato just steals it whenever he’s on. Also started watching the second season of Sherlock Holmes. Finally getting my fix!
I finally started watching Vampire Prosecutor. I love it. After that I wanna watch TEN. Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can find subs for all the episodes? Thanks.
Off to school! Have a good one everybody.
I wanna start Legal High. Is there subs anywhere?
The turtle in RTP made me scratch my head too. I’m starting to believe it’s not important.
Ten is complete and subbed at viki or there:
http://aveoh.net/special-crimes-force-ten/
legal high? I thought I saw this on dramacrazy.net. Not sure if they have subs yet tho. I didn’t check, just saw the name.
I checked and they do have subbed to episode 4.
OK. Thanks!
All four episodes of Legal High are subbed on epdrama.com
Haha watch it turns out the turtle is like the key to everything lol.
Thanks for the link.
Hi Noelle, haven’t seen you in awhile! Have a good weekend!
Hi Shel, hope you have a good weekend too!
Hi Noelle, did you ask about the TWDR DVD last OT? It’s out in my region (Singapore) with both Chinese AND English subs
Don’t know if that’s of any use to you though!
I just caught up skip beat. Be damn to those who misleading me, hehe… not extravagant but not bad either (except the end).
its better the give us season 2, with Dong Hae get more screen time and story and be real second lead (whether to love or to hate completely).
I think they stayed pretty close to the anime. Though they gave us some extra stuff from the original manga, it wasn’t enough, I know.
Still, I think it was cute, and I’m pretty sure there won;t be any season 2
I don’t know about the anime or manga, but i did have heard that Gong Xi didnt paired with anyone, but let be honest, Gong Xi and Lian very cuuute together.
How do Noona so sure that that wont be season 2?
Because 1. there isn’t enough manga written yet to continue the story. 2. Both male leads are from Suju = super packed schedules= hard to get them back in Taiwan for S2
Ah, so the manga is still on going? got it… then hope is still in the air…
2 or 3 years later maybe… when the SUper packed Junior not too packed…
anyway, just give the second season… Please Drama God, hear my plea….
Happy Mother’s Day weekend to all!
Happy Mother’s Day to you, too. Or, rather, to your mom, lol. Tell her the Movie Noonas think she did a great job. :0)
LOL Thanks, shel!
Hello ricky! Hope you’re doing fine and resting well after your exams.
I am well thank you! I’ve been sleeping and eating a lot. Haha
There you are. I thought you were to busy enjoying your vacation to come and say hi.
Hi, zgznoona!
Nah, it was raining quite heavily and my internet connection was affected.
Well, glad to see the internet is back up.
Have you started QIH yet?
Hi oppa! ^^
and yes, happy early mother’s day to all the mothers out there! Taking mom out to eat. She loves to eat chinese buffet so that’s where we will go.
I feel like I should cook dinner for her.
Chinese buffet is yummy!
Maybe u should!
surprise her? let her have a relaxing day perhaps?? That’ll be nice.
Just an aside from a mom…if you cook, clean up. I’ve spent lots of Monday-after-Mother’s Day doing dishes. Sam’s a great cook, not such a great cleaner-upper. And, he uses every dish in the kitchen, lol.
Mother’s day was ages ago for us!! The UK (and Commonwealth I guess…) use a different day!
Never a bad day to hug your mom! I bring mine barbeque and flowers every once in a while.
Of course!! Except my Mum is quite far away at the moment…
When is Mother’s Day in the UK? We’re under the Commonwealth too but Mom’s Day is always on the second Sunday of May.
It’s always the 4th Sunday in lent for us (thanks Wikipedia!) and we are supposed to call it Mothering Sunday but… I guess we’re pretty american now so it’s Mother’s Day mostly…
So it was 18th of March this year.
Hey Rickie! Keep eating your mom’s food – that’s what will make her happy.
Err “Ricky” — sumimasen, I’m writing Chapter 70 at the same time I’m tweeting with cv, Raine, and zgzgirl and doing the OT thread.
[brain cells firing out of sequence]
I’m constantly hungry these past few days. It’s odd.
the aspca- animal welfare people say pet owners are parents too!!! I expect flowers or music as presents. I’ve told everyone that there’s a lee moon sae album and a kim kwang sook album in my yesasia cart.
Aww, well then, Happy Mom’s Day on behalf of your cat(s)!
Happy Friday, ricky, and thanks for the Mom’s Day greetings.
Whaddup?
No problem kewbie!
I’m having my holidays, currently back in my hometown.
Anyone else miss 1N2D? I thought all I needed were dramas but I realized I’m missing my weekly fix of variety.
http://youtu.be/EK4SGPJPXzQ
Him. I miss him
Gearing up for Bride Mask.
That was cute! He’s so adorable, but it will be weird that he looks like a baby when he’s 60. He’s going to be the Korean Dick Clark, I bet.
I have a feeling the 1n2d break is actually a relief to UTW and JW, so they get to focus on their dramas. And you know both happens to be or gonna be airing on KBS.
k2h my best drama ever in all times
I love watching rooftop prince too
Oh, it’s Friday already!
Happy weekend, DBers!
Didn’t do much this week– had a huge headache for several days. Must remember to take my hypertension meds more regularly.
I’m trying to keep up on Rooftop Prince, but now I want to watch Queen Inhyun’s Man as well (I liked JHW from Invincible Lee Pyung Gang).
Still watching Princess and I… it just gets better. Mikay needs money to bail her dad out of jail (he’d been framed), and Gino pays her to go to his grandpa’s party as his date (he doesn’t want to comply with his dad’s order to make nice to the daughter of one of the stockholders who’s running after him), only her adoptive sister Bianca crashes the party, and then calls her out in the powder room for “stealing” Gino away from her (he was never yours, doh). Mikay tries to explain, only turns out Gino’s aunt overhears, and accuses Mikay of being a “paid woman” (prostitute). Uh-oh. Meanwhile, the king sends Jao to Manila on some business for him, so I can’t wait to see Jao meet Gino (his only childhood friend) and Mikay again.
I forgot to add– been rereading the Tamra the Island recaps– is the guy playing Yan also the one who made a cameo as King Yeongjo at the end of Dong Yi?
Rooftop prince is getting pretty AWESOME!!!!! I’m also loving Love Rain, just the characters; the plot is overrated and wonky! Haha
Love Rain: The bitter, drunk, ex-wife needs a life .
Yes! Hye Jung needs to realize that’s it’s not all about her — and what’s the point of her letting Joon witness her throw water in Ha Na’s mom’s face? To cement that she’s crazy? Sheesh.
Kewbie~
Chang Mo confessed his love for Hye Jung back-in-the-day and recently told the Professor that he “would take care of Hye Jung “.
He needs to get busy and do just that.
I’d prefer if they had those two fall in love rather than her being the bitter drunk. I think it would have made for a lighter and better story.
Good Morning My Wondrous Beans!
It’s finally sunny again here on my hill – yay!
Let’s see, what’s happening? There’s been a boy here all week, although I’d hardly know it. He may be massive but he is the quietest, most calming person in the universe, I think. Even the dog doesn’t bark when he comes in, and she barks at anyone who doesn’t live here. No, she turns to goo at his feet and begs for kisses. Daughter is smiling a lot, so I think the visit is going well. He’s a nice boy. I hope it continues to make her smile.
I’m off today! Because Dark Shadows opens! And that’s my Mother’s Day gift, except I have no idea WHEN today we’re going…
In Drama News – if you’re one of the Twitter’ers, you’ll notice I have a project. Anytime I mention Van Ness Wu or something about a project he’s in, I put this hashtag #wuniverse . I want to make it trend and have him come say hi to me! Join in! I’m MamaJ1101. We have lots of fun over there, it’s an OT party all week now.
I finished Autumn’s Concerto (but then my DVDS arrived so I started it again.) and am mostly watching Meteor Garden now, because it never ends and I will get old and die watching it. But I’m also watching K2H. Shi Kyung, if possible, is even more awesome than Jae Ha. I want them to end up ruling Korea together, Jae Ha as King, Shi Kyung as his right hand man or Prime Minister or something. And there will be lots of AhHa and ShinShi babies running around being cute and karate chopping, or being pretty in fairy clothes, or being tiny EarnestBots, or being dapper little ladies men.
The only other thing I’m really making any effort to see at all is Material Queen, because I’m well and truly sunk when it comes to Van Ness. He’s Deenos, and I’ve got My Beloved anyway…but he’s still pretty awesome. And I know that it all goes to hell in a handbasket, that drama, but the beginning is SO crazy pretty to watch and interesting that I don’t care.
Otherwise…I’ll catch up on RTP hopefully this weekend. And maybe EM by next weekend. And I want to watch QIHM. And I saw a still of SSH in sageuk garb for Jin and immediately said ok, watching. Love you all, I’ll check back in soon! I have to go watch Ep 16 of K2H and probably cry or something.
Go savor Ep 16, it’s worth the tears.
Hey, it’s sunny up on my hill, too. After the fog burned off, but it’s burning off quicker today than usual. I think I need to call the Sisterwives and proclaim it a beach day. We’ve been talking about it, but the weather here is so crazy/unpredictable we though we’d wait and see what the morning brought. A little tri-tip grilled on the beach while the screamers….I mean kids….run around sounds lovely.
I think you need a 12 step program, Miss JoAnne. Unless, of course, you don’t want to be cured, lol.
Tri-tip. One of the only things I miss about my stay on the left coast. You can’t get it here, you know.
Really?! I should express you some sometime. Costco has an already-marinated one that I swear, no matter what you do to it, it comes out perfect. I’m not much of a beef-eater, but I love it.
Ummm, what’s a tri-tip?
Hmmm….let me see if google can help me explain it.
http://www.epicuriousity.net/2007/06/tri-tip.html Ok, that’s a bit old, but explains it nicely.
It’s melt-in-your-mouth goodness.
I will send you any amount of money you ask for. Plus my first born. And possibly her first born, when that day comes.
We should look and see what FedEx charges for their next day, iced (or dryiced, or something) delivery. The actual tri-tip is about $6/lb and worth every cent. Most of them are 2-3 lbs.
It freezes fine, if you spend $$ shipping it, you might as well buy more than one, btw.
It looks tasty. I have a meat packing company just a hop from my new digs (the joys of the country) – I wonder if they sell it?
For those of us who haven’t seen QIHM—we should do a drama night sometime and watch this. heard lots of good stuff about it.
Deeno, you with your damn #wuniverse!!! Influencing my drama watching.
#wuniverse is like the Bermuda’s Triangle: Once you’re in you can never get out…
As someone very wise commented earlier this week: Why would you WANT to?
Excuse me but i have my #yooniverse! I will let all of you play in your little world.
I’d say it was more JoAnne this time.
Probably. You whispered the word to me, and I fell down a rabbit hole and dragged a bunch of people down with me.
Who cares who started this time the Pandora box to the #wuniverse and those tw-dramas I’ve been consciously avoiding for a long time was opened, and I fell right in with you
I’m…6 episodes in on MG 2 and 3 on MQ and I set up a playlist for Mars Zhan Shen. I’m dead. I can’t find Summer’s Desire on Youtube and it’s SUCH a perfect way to watch on tv if you set up the playlist right.
I LOVE Shi-kyung. He’s upstanding, earnest, & his unwavering belief in his King (which’ll totally make you proud AGAIN in Ep 16).
He’s led a fairly sheltered life and believes in the good in people. So, it broke my heart when he broke down in Ep 15…it seemed to me that THESE set of events that would start making him cynical. When you watch EP 16 you’ll love Jae-ha for what he does to prolly extend the time period to keep the cynicism at bay for SK.
These two men, Jae-ha & Shi-kyung, are so bloody awesome. It’s the ingenuity of the Hong sisters who wrote diametrically opposite male characters who thankfully are not part of a lame love triangle. I remember watching MGIAG almost a month ago and the second female plain irked me so much. Realized that I appreciated that the main conflict in TK2H are not evil second leads & MIL but actual stakes that will irrevocably impact the Royal family and those associated with it.
While I love SK I’m a total JH fangirl! No questions asked…had to throw this out there!!
I LOVE Shi Kyung too. He’s just so sweetly, well, earnest. I’m terrified to see how daddy’s bad deeds will effect that.
I also enjoy that K2H is not following the typical k-drama storylines. I love that the in-laws love eachother. I love that there is no bratty girl lurking in the background. Or guy that is just too nice to get the girl. Like you said, the drama is REAL and the stakes are life and death. So good!
Maybe the good thing about Shi-kyung finding out about his evil (sorta) daddy is that Jae-shin could comfort him.
Happy Friday everyone
Bring on the weekend.
Added Love Forward and Ataru to my list of dramas …. *dies* …. I was hoping there will a be break after this amazing wed/thurs combo…. apparently not. Hehe
Happy drama watching
such nice sentiments! happy drama watching to you!
plans for the weekend bunny?
this weekend I will be a social butterfly. I’m going over to a friend’s house to watch dramas.
Hehehehe… I wish I could go over to a friends and watch dramas too
I am hoping that I get to watch Avengers, soon! Like Monday. Been trying to talk my friends into going and they finally agreed for Monday…. hope it stays that way…. so excited
I added Ataru to my drama watching list too, since I’m doing mostly procedural jdramas lately
Nice. What other procedural jdramas are you currently watching?? I dropped out of Legal High at Ep3.. I was so annoyed… and Answer ~ Keishichou Kenshou Sousakan has been pretty good so far … love a ragtag underdog team any day
I started watching jdramas recently, so I watched I’ve seen Strawberry Nights, Spec. Also watching now Mikeneko Holmes Suiri, Kagi no Kakatta Heya, Atauru.
i want more stand by episodes!
That lake scene is actually makes me just more determined to finish it. I was thinking, if this happening in this episode, what’s to come? I kept wondering too “They see each other, didn’t they?” I was actually afraid of the answer but couldn’t help my self.
On shallow note, do you think Go Hyun Jung aged since Sandglass? She looks the same!
that’s why she released a beauty book!
and i’m looking for an English edition of the book.
Happy Friday, Drama-peeps! I actually almost forgot about OT Friday, if you can believe that. I’ve been so tired that I didn’t even comment on yesterday’s recaps of RP and K2H! I can’t believe it myself.
This week — this whole month actually has been crazy so far. Anniversary was last Friday, my birthday was on Tuesday, and the Mother’s Day is on Sunday. Saturday the hubby and I are going to see the Avengers. Very action-packed.
This morning, though, I attended my kid’s Mother’s Day Tea at her school. They made all the moms wear paper flower hats made out of paper plates and streamers. I kinda felt like I was at a bridal shower. They also had the kids fill out a questionnaire about their moms and my daughter said I was 25! Haha…best daughter ever! She also said in the questionnaire that in my spare time I like to watch movies…but I wanted to correct her and say I like to watch k-dramas, but hey, that’s just something else I’ll have to teach her about.
Hope all y’all are doing well!
Hey Kewbie – What spare time? lol
Shuk! Exactly man…with all those k-dramas who has spare time for anything else?
Will the kdramas ever stop? Or is it just that producers want to get all the good dramas out before the end of the world? (I’m not complaining)
LOL world ending? i hope not!
Hi Everybody, how are you doing?
This week has been a QIHM week for me. I caught up the latest episodes and realized that I love this show. Or actually I LOVE BoongDo and the rest of the cast doesn’t bother me that much, although putting up with the cutesy Yoo Inna is kind of tough for me.
I even watched Mr Idol, but it was a waste of my time. I didn’t really enjoy it. Could have been better.
I tried watching Fashion King, but it is not for me.
Now, I am really looking forward to seeing So Ji Sub in his new drama.
me too so ji sub!!! I love his eyes.
So Ji-sub is one of those guy, for me, that are too pretty. Even grungy, he’s pretty.
I’d like to watch someone that pretty from afar and be like, “Damn, you fine”, rather than date them and be like, “who’s the ugly chick next to you?”
LMAO
Sorry I got on my whole pretty flex.
Also is anyone checking to see what Holyland is like? I watched the Japanese version and wasn’t that impressed, but Korean Dramas tend to have better production but I was still hesitant to watch because of how little the episodes count was.
Ah forgot this was a reply, should have left that other one in a different comment. My bad! =D
AS for SJS – that’s what he is to me – an actor I like looking at, I don’t feel the need to get to know him. I respect him for his profession and anything above that is nonexistent to me.
Holyland – drama about boxing with idols acting… not really my cup of tea.
BoongDo flu caught me, so i watch Mr. Idol (today no less), its pleasant at the beginning and in the middle but the ending is a let down… i guess they came up with good premise but stuck at good ending (like so many movies and dramas).
Looks like everyone loves Boong do. I was reading the comments on the recap and nearly every comment had a “Love the hero” reference.
because, whos not gonna a hero that is smart, nice, know he is smart, nice, act like a player to our heroine, but not a player, trust our heroine and care for her without have to bicker first, attract to her even before realize that she is pretty.
in short, he doesnt have male lead cool and cold syndrome, but all the goodness and lovable only give stronger vibe and charisma a usual second lead have…
he seems the perfectest character around
, you can like him without any BUTs
love QIHM, actually everybody works for me. i even love to hate the second female lead (the so called famous female actress). which is usually so hard for me, i by default hate second female lead, i even still hold some grudge for Yoo Inna in the Greatest Love. kekeke
Fashion King is not for me too. I even cant watched it for Yoo Ah In.
Hi everyone.
I am loving JGS in love rain. I think he can do heartbroken very very well. There were some scenes were I actually felt like taking screenshots. He emotes so perfectly. Yoona was pretty good too. But JGS outshines her quite a bit.
In other news, I’m up to ep 6 on QIHM and I give out a big cheer to the subbers for taking this one. If I watched it without subs the drama would lose much of its charm. The dialogs are so perfect for the characters.
And ofcourse one of the best part of my week was to see that DB was taking on the recaps for QIHM.
I’m over my addiction of RTP. I’m still watching it but I’m not losing sleep wondering when the next episode will be out.
I just took a breather from work to post this.
Take care everyone and have a great weekend.
I know what you mean about JGS in Love Rain. He really does express pain and heartache pretty well in this drama. Heck, if I were in the situation that his character was in, I’d probably feel as bad as he looked. Yoona is much better than I thought. I can’t wait for Monday already!
Have you watched ep 14 yet?
if not: spoiler ahead.
—–
That scene at the end, where Yoona asks him “Can you not think of me as family?”
You can actually see him go from confused to angry in just a few seconds and all of it so understated and natural.
And my favorite scene of course was after his mother splashes water on Yoon Hee. Poor kids. the most perfect back hug scene.
Not the water-throwing thing again. Ever since A Thousand Kisses, I have been totally over any water-tossing in a drama. To me, as soon as someone throws a glass of water in someone’s face, it’s going to be a makjang party and a drama that can’t be taken seriously. And I’ll include RTP in that, too.
RTP’s water throwing was almost funny. Because she throws one glass at her sister and her sister picks up her glass to throw it at her, but she just takes that glass away and throws it right back at her sister.
One more glass on that table, and we would be watching a laurel and hardy show.
Plus, I liked that the heroine isn’t the victim of the water.
Haha…I loved that double water-in-the-face scene between Park Ha and Se Na. Se Na deserved more than that for what she’s done.
Yes! That was sad when she said can’t you just be a family…with me? Damn. That back hug scene which the dad saw…I hope he’s smart enough to see how much in love they are with each other and that he won’t want his son to suffer like he did when he was younger.
for me, if only love rain had better cast (except: JGS), i MIGHT give it a shot, but from the first episode recap here, i doubt it…
big welcome to the Queen Nest, let enjoy the ride together…
i’m also glad that JB took QIHM. very glad, if only its as fast as RTP… but i already grateful JB took it, can’t ask more.
hope you get great weekend too…
The first 4 episodes were so slow…those were the ones set in the 70s. From episodes 5 and on, which are set in present times, it picked up majorly. I say, if you try to start watching it again, just start from episode 5. It develops kinda quickly from there.
Yeah agree. I haven’t watched the first four episode either. 5 onwards is pretty cool. And Yoona is pretty good too.
@Fairycutter: I also hesitated about Love Rain. But I did exactly what the OT crowd said and started with episode 5. And I absolutely love that show … would have hated to miss it (I think it might even be the best acting that JGS have done … and “You’re Beautiful” is one of my favorite drama). It is totally awesome so please give it a shot.
Then i’ll try to watch episode 5, hope next week OT, can share my watching experience.
Hello and Happy Friday Everyone!
What a week! It’s reports-memos-reports that churned out of my desk this week and all I can see when I close my eyes are Excel worksheets. *sigh* – If not Mickey Yoochun. Heh.
Somehow, amid all the paperwork, I managed to catch up with Rooftop Prince. (Addiction is definitely back on!) I’ll be watching King2Hearts soon. I’m trying to manage the addiction – 1 drama at a time, but it’s taking more effort than I expected. Temptations abound! – starting with the recaps here.
Two more weeks of Rooftop!
My mind so full of theories/speculations about what happened to the Prince and Tae Yong – why they existed in the same time, why one took over while the other was catatonic, etc. And I love the latest plot development – how Yi Gak and his mates’ plans work well but not without glitches. Tae Mu is so gonna crash and burn. I’m curious to know if he has an equivalent in the old world that Yi Gak doesn’t know about, since he plays such a significant role in the present time. I’m also doubting whether it was really the Crown Princess that was floating face down in the pond – if not who was it? Gah!
Also, I’m still reeling from witnessing the emotional sufferings of… Crown Prince Lee Hwon in Moon/Sun (which I marathoned last week as part of my bday celebration). That boy, Yeo Jin Goo, made me cry on my big day. My heart still aches for the crown prince up to now, but I love, love, love that drama!
Not gonna hang around long for tonight. I have to get up early tomorrow for an activity with Habitat. I’ll come back tomorrow – hopefully still not too tired from the back-breaking activity. Too many temptations tonight: dramabeans, new episodes of Rooftop Prince, and my newly-bought A Song of Ice and Fire books.
Must hold on to self-discipline.
Oh, and I’m excited for Big. Can’t wait.
izzaayyy!
happy weekend chinguya!
Bunny!!! I hope you’re having a great weekend too, chinguyah!
)
Hi Izzie!
Belated happy birthday!
Maraming salamat, Laya!
How’s the drama-watching going? I hope the local dramas aren’t giving you pain from the too-often-recycled plots – it’s birth secrets all-around, it’s sickening.
(Please don’t tell my mother network about this.)
You’re currently in Cotabato, from last I’ve read? (Or did I read it right?) I hope you’re all okay there, with the crazy, crazy weather. Ingat lagi!
I finished watching Mixed-Up Investigative Agency and I loved it SO MUCH. I don’t think I’ve ever truly laughed out loud at a kdrama before watching it. Park Mu-Yeol can come be my idiot boyfriend any day; he tries so hard.
So now I’m out of already aired dramas to watch. I like to watch a couple currently airing ones and then fill the gaps between airings with older ones. Any suggestions? I tried watching I Really Really Like You, but I end up skipping to the parts with Lee Min Ki.
I don’t really like straight up melos or romcoms, so anything that has a little something extra going for it would be great.
someone above mentioned H.I.T .. have you seen that??
I suggest Black & White, TW drama (if you haven’t already seen it)…. just AMAZING!
H.I.T? What’s that?
Homicide Investigation Team, 2007 Kdrama, with Go Hyun-jung and Ha Jung-woo
have you seen?
kid gang-hilarious!!!!!
life special investigation team- so charming
Once upon a time in saengchori- funny, clever
Harvest Villa- funny, clever
Is it really possible to see all the aired dramas??? Just when I think I can quit and watch new dramas I find an actor/actress I love and I have to watch all their dramas.
Well, I guess I’m just being extremely picky about dramas because there have been several I’ve started but never finished. I was watching all Lee Min Ki dramas, but I Really Really Like You doesn’t really hold my interest.
is it eugene? I want to like her, or hate her but she’s just boring.
Yeah, she’s the lead and I really find her annoying. I don’t know her music or anything at all, but it’s hard for me to like her character.
As much as I love Lee Min-ki I found his charachter at the beginning of I really really like you very shouty and annoying. He gets better at the end but I also ended up only skipping to his scenes for the whole show. Especially after the poor girl’s horrible mother showed up.
Mixed up Investigative agency is my favorite k- drama. I also recommend Taereung National Village if you haven’t seen it already. Others I’d recommend are Story of a Man and Time between Dog and Wolf. They are more action and suspense focused but both are well written and acted. My Park ki woong love started with SOAM.
Hello everyone
dramabeans has been the first website I check every day for a while now, but I’m new at commenting and I felt I should introduce myself, so hello and nice to meet you all!
I am, just like the rest of you, hopelessly addicted to kdrama, currently humming the song played during the closing sequence of RTP, I think it’s stuck… da da dadada daaaaa, dadada da da daaaaa… etc
So nice to read all the comments, I don’t know any fellow drama lovers IRL, now I feel less lonely
My flatemate already makes fun of me, she says she always does this countdown in her head whenever I talk to her, because inevitable something to do with korea/kdrama will come up after a certain time. And she’s right actually, I just can’t help it…
What’s my drug of choice at the moment? RTP, K2H, QIM, also occasionally Hero and Greatest Love. I started Equator Man but couldn’t bring myself to watch more that the first two episodes, because I don’t want to see those boys “break up”, I got way too involved in such a short time! I’m more in the mood for light romcom atm…
arrrgh, I wish I could write my papers and essays about Korean dramas! haha, maybe then I would get something done :/
Enough monologising from me, hope you all have a great weekend!
Hello Mia! You have a lovely name.
Have you tried converting your flatmate into a kdrama viewer?
She’ll curse you once she gets addicted though. My sister introduced me to kdramas and I’ve never had a free moment since then.
I’m trying but she is resisting hard! I think she is just a very different personality type, we had a conversation about that the other day. She says she isn’t a fan of anything. She just doesn’t get excited about things the way I do
and she doesn’t like watching stuff with English subtitles either… at times like this it would be good to have a sister
don’t worry, one day she will be converted
power of kdrama addiction… or maybe kpop?? get her addicted to some kpop songs to being with?? hehe
I played some Big Bang and Shinee videos to her, she just looked at me as if I was crazy and went back to listening to her news programme, it’s a miracle we are such good friends. I guess we bond over our love for food and being lazy.
If she watches the news for entertainment, then I think there’s no hope for you.
It’ll just be us DBeanies to spazz with.
Have you tried Coffee Prince? There’s nobody who is immune to GY’s charms. If she likes news, heh, and political stuff perhaps you may wanna try The King 2 Hearts or The Tree with Deep Roots!
@aoiaheen: Don’t be like that. I am one of those people whose favorite channels used to be CNN, MSNBC, C-Span, BBC, History Channel, History International, National Geographic and … you get my drift. And those types of shows were my entertainment for over 30 years … since I was a teenager.
Now I don’t even know what is going on in the news as I am always in “Korea” or “Taiwan” as my mother would say. So there is hope for Mia’s room-mate. The bigger problem is if she doesn’t like to read (as people who don’t like to read tend to really dislike reading subtitles) or if she is adverse to hearing foreign languages (I have discovered that some people really don’t like to listen to other languages … it is just like noise to them).
Welcome, Mia to OT. It is nice when one finally finds a home, isn’t it?
Hey Mia, welcome to the club
Here you can freely talk about kdramas or make kdrama references and we will get them
You could try to convert your flatmate, but that not always works, or maybe there is just something wrong with my technique.
my most difficult convert is my youngest brother. that kid is refusing me all the time and now is the hardest time. he’s suddenly anti-asian but that has to do with our family’s perverse anti-trend/fad tendencies and even my mother started watching dramas recently. She uses my netflix and the queen sondok costume appealed to her. anyway I convinced my brother that hero(ocn) is a high tech ironman type superhero and we should watch it so he can tell me whether or not such a comparison is accurate.
Welcome, Mia!
Most of us share in your “nobody else gets this but me!”
I have only managed to get ONE neighbor to watch two episodes of a show.
Because of all the stuff you have mentioned, it can be a tough sell.
If I hadn’t actually met one of the DBeanies from out of town, and brought her to my house as “evidence,” they would never have believed another person like me existed!
My son told her, “It’s so weird to hear someone other than my mom say “Rooftop Prince! or King 2 Hearts.” HA!
Hello Everyone!
I am late to the party, today as I am in the middle of a physical move at work.
I get to put the last 9 years (at this desk) into boxes!
I have a question for some of the photoshop smarties.
I have been trying to play with GIMP and photobucket to make web headers, but I don’t understand the tools.
For example, why can’t I paste multiple photos into one canvas? I see one, but the other gets pasted ONTO the one below becoming one image. IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!
I have done the online help, but they speak in strange lingo I don’t understand. Does anyone suggest a easy to understand resource?
Should I spend the money on Photoshop (student)?
Hope you all have a safe, healthy and fulfilling week!
<—- sorry no help, I suck at all the above mentioned tools. You actually succeeded to make a header, and I didn't even get that far..
Photoshop is overkill, though it is a good investment to learn it. As a student you may be able to get the academic license (depending on your locale) for Adobe CS which includes Photoshop at about USD100.
For multiple photos you may have to try experimenting with layers. For ease to learn, I would recommend a free windows program called Paint.Net http://www.getpaint.net/
topper and Mia-
I am glad I have you “here.”
Here is my issue.
My photo are not wide enough, so I want to overlap them side by side.
I make the canvas size, for example, 940X128.
I paste in the first photo layer.
I create a new layer and paste in 2 photo.
For whatever reason, I cannot get either photo to move over to the right side, or if I do, it disappears under the checkerboad thingie. (I think it is called an alpha channel.)
What am I missing?
as I said, I don’t know gimp at all, but if you want to, come over here for a second and check out the chatbox at the bottom and I might be able to help you out http://z6.invisionfree.com/USTC/index.php?act=idx
hope it’s not against some rule to post a link to a different forum
I usually leave the canvas alone. Maybe you can create 2 layers on top of the canvas, paste in one for each picture. Then merge the two layers, and you can move it around the canvas as one combined picture. Not sure if this is your purpose.
Stef, Mia and topper –
I just spent the last few hours, some very frustrated, but I read what you all said, and I think I had a breakthrough!
There was ONE tiny little box I didn’t see was clicked
“Crop this layer only”
So I kept cropping ALL OF THEM, and they would all “disappear.”
At least now I can do a crude collage. I will work next on making them super cool – which may take a lot longer!
THANKS AGAIN!!!
I’ve never used gimp but I know my way around photoshop, sounds like something layer related, have you tried creating a new layer and pasting the second image on that layer?
I love photoshop almost as much as kdrama
but it is so expensive, so I’d only buy it if I really really needed it and if my conscience wouldn’t let me acquire it otherwise…
every time you paste a photo it resides on a new LAYER.
you can resize the photo on the new layer (make sure you can see all layers) when you are sure that each photo is exactly the size you want then you can MERGE the layers.
It’s been years since I’ve used photoshop (I used to work in publishing, now retired) but I’ll help you if I can.
Hi, unsure if this’s e correct thread to ask, but I’m just curious abt smth and want to seek the fellow dramabeans followers’ advices out there..
Does anyone knows what’s e app whereby fans will type/draw Korean wordings on iPhone/iPad and somehow those words are in motion and will keep flashing in and out ofthe devices non-stop?
I’ve been so late to OT lately. I’ll have to catch up on how everyone is doing later on tonight.
Loving all the current drama offerings. Hating the obsession. This is the month for insomnia, so I am walking around looking like a raccoon, but highly satisfied.
Currently watching: King 2 Hearts, Rooftop, Queen In Hyun’s Man, Love Rain and reading the Marriage Plot recaps (subs please
). I’m always on the verge of dropping Rooftop, but they always find a way to reel me back in.
Still completely engrossed in the World of Kpop. Not even shamed anymore. Hey…they’re not doing those hip thrust and body rolls for nothing. It’s for fan appreciation darn it and I am so very appreciative.
On a personal note. I have a crush. An actual crush on a real person that is not an idol or in a drama. It feels very strange. I haven’t had one in at least a decade. He’s not even my type. He’s just genuinely nice. And we have a lot in common. Pretty sure it won’t go anywhere because my life (relationship wise) is one cancer diagnosis away from a kdrama, but it’s a nice feeling.
Hope everyone has a great weekend! Happy Mommy’s Day to all the OT Moms.
Cruelsummer has a crush! Good for you. There are rom-coms too in the kdrama world with happy-endings and weddings.
btw, you’re comment made me laugh out loud. right from the highly-satisfied-racoon to the one-cancer-diagnosis-away-from-a-kdrama.
No wonder I’m addicted to OT.
Hi Aoiaheen!
Glad I could give someone a chuckle today.
Pretty sure there won’t be a happy ending for my real Kdrama crush. He’s brilliant, a legitimate nerd (not an internet nerd, but the I’m “going to find the cure for cancer” nerd), witty and very responsible. Conservative, bible belt folks who probably wouldn’t be too keen on their only son hooking up with a divorcee with an eight year old kid. Meh…I’ll always have my dramas and body rocking idols.
Hmm… this situation does sound very melodrama like. Super achiever hero, disapproving parents, heroine with a sense of humor who fights life’s battles with a smile (or raccoon eyes, whichever). Yes I can see a kdrama in the works.
Keep us posted on any developments.
Cruel!!! Glad you could make it, however late you are.
Yep – same thing here: RTP / QIHM, Answer (JDrama), my fan fic, Real Life – It’s all a conspiracy to give me insomia psychosis. But what a way to go!!
Hey Shuk!!
At least you’re writing and doing something constructive, instead of perving on idols. I have handbags in my closet older than some of these kids.
Is Answer any good? I’m looking for a good JDrama. Jdrama’s and I tend to have a hard time coming together. I’ll watch six episodes of a drama, forget the name and never go back to it. Strange.
I’m enjoying it, but it’s a police procedural, so those are near and dear to my heart.
Cruelsummer! Wassup homie?
A crush, huh? I’m having flashbacks of high school, and it wasn’t pretty. I hope your crush situation turns out better than all of my (unrequited) ones.
High School crushes are pretty much a death sentence for an imaginative teen with a heart for romance. Every little glance is World changing event. I’ve written entire scenarios based off the brief exchange of a pencil.
Thankfully now that I’m old and jaded, I can just look upon my crush wistfully and think of a million and one ways of why it would never work.
Hi Cruel!
Crush eh? hehehe awww, how sweet. ^^ U never know…could turn into something good.
The new headers are all kinds of awesome! I just saw lee dong wook in a shower scene!
Broody shower scenes guaranteed—— (you’re welcome).
Bwahaha… That header is a killer.
My favorite new one!
That’s a great one, I agree!
That’s one of mine. I can’t believe they finally put it up! This makes my day. I check db on the phone most of the time so I miss the headers.
soju ssi,
Thanks for that header!
Happy Friday everyone!
All caught up with Queen In-hyun’s Man (which, granted, isn’t very hard given the subbing speed). Also waiting for Hero to be finished before I continue watching it. Also counting down the days until Bridal Mask and Faith comes out. This year looks to be alot better than the last one.
I’ve cut way back on the k-drama viewing.
I’m burned out on right now.
It goes in cycles.
I’m still watching King 2 Hearts and Running Man.
I’ve paused watching Fondant Garden & Rooftop Prince.
I’m completely disgusted with the way Ultimate K-Pop Challenge was abrubtly ended.
I invested up to ep14 and BAM! END. UGH.
I thought it was a decent show…like “You’re Beautiful” or the other one (where she was going to be a nun).
Lee Seung Gi and Ha Ji Won really seem to have good chemistry. I agree with anyone else who said that they should just go get married already and make some cute babies.
I really am suprised by how much I like the supporting characters. Bong Gu (KA-RAZY), Bon Bon (she’s seriously scary!), the Queen Mother, the sister, and especially Shi-Kyung. (Even the WOC cast)
Woosh! The men are on FIRE. I never used to be a SeungGi fan….I just thought he was too “cutesy” but now???? HOT DAMN, YES PLEASE! AND MORE.
I totally agree about K-Pop Ultimate Audition. I didn’t expect much when I started watching it, I was surprised when it turned out to be pretty entertaining and cute, but way to ruin an entire show in the last episode!! The whole episode was a lesson on how to not make a drama, nothing made sense anymore. A shame really…
I’m still pissed about K-Pop Ultimate Audition. To be honest…I was enjoying that more than Rooftop Prince. Yeah..I said it. I mean if you’re just gonna crap all over the last episode at least add a fifteen minute make-out session. That would certainly make up for the fact that there was no actual ‘Ultimate Audition’. They wasted too much time on the CEO’s romantic life. Nobody cared. The only interesting thing about that was the Managers drinking problem. That chick LIVED in the bar, lol.
You’ll are killing me with your comments about Ultimate K-Pop Challenge. I was so pissed at last episode as I too found the drama so cute and light (no real angst). But I am laughing so hard as what you all said summed up exactly how I feel of that show.
I must say, this was the first drama where I enjoyed all except the last episode (and that includes some where the person died in the last episode). That is how offended I was at what was presented as the last episode. And I feel so sorry for the actors who acted, sang and danced their little hearts out for the show.
Happy Weekend Everyone!!! I’m done with finals!!!!!! Now I plan on getting drunk and watching dramas
Join us on twitter, last weekend we mainlined Meteor Garden.
Happy Friday! I hope all is well with everyone!
I haven’t been checking into the OT for a very, very long time. SCHMAZEL’S GOT THE FINAL LAP OF GRADUATE LIFE TO RUN, YO! Yes, a good 2 weeks left in my final semester and then I’ll have my viva. Stressful times indeed.
Anyway…
So, I was listening to the OST of RTP and there’s a number by Gilgu Bonggu!! I was so happy! I love their voices!! I’ve been trying to find out more about them but haven’t been the least bit successful. So I was wondering if anyone in the Dramabeans community could point me to where I could find more of their music? Please? Pretty please? With whipped cream on top of your soju, jebal? *puppy eyes*
And if you have no idea who they are, check this out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IeQ8zzeLyc
Welcome back to the OT, Schmazel, and congratulations on having only one more lap to go as a grad student. Woo hoo!
I’m afraid I don’t know anything about Gilgu Bong-gu, but since I couldn’t resist the puppy eyes, I did find another song of theirs for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMpU_DUWS1o&feature=related. I like their voices too!
Thank you, anotheraddict!
I’ve already got the song you posted but I can never stop listening to it! THANK YOU!!
Confession: When their track for RTP, ‘Shine’, was released, I had it on replay for hours.
I would like to find some of their non-OST work, but it’s proving difficult. Although, maybe, they’ve yet to release an album. But they’re so good!
Okay. I should stop the fangirling/stalking now. Ahem.
14.4.1.3 Will work for soju May 11th, 2012 at 1:59 pm
Sorry timezone differences. Here is my folder for Dal Ja’s Spring. Thanks to A who keeps me supplied with any drama links I want
You’re a lifesaver since MU went down. RIP
http://www.mediafire.com/?iaev7zjydwz4k
thanks so much. Will it still be there next week? I’m traveling.
Yes, it’s in my personal account. I don’t delete it.
Marathon 2 days watching A Wife’s Credential with the help of Darksmurfs subtitles, as well as members in Soompi. What an excellent quality drama and wonderful cast. Waiting for the official english subtitles to be released. I still can’t get this drama out of my mind. Highly recommend it to anyone.
Hello Dramabeans. Hi everyone!
Feast of the Gods ep 29, thank you. I didn’t realize I was clapping, smiling, with a “yes!” Slept with a smile. A gift…Happy Mother’s Day!
Thank you Dramabeans.
Hello, OT DBers!
Well, I actually did it.
I just finished marathoning all 159 episodes of ‘Smile, Dong Hae’!!
And oddly enough, it wasn’t until I reached episode 129 that I thought “Wait! Have I seen this before?! Like when it first came out in ’04?!”
How is it possible to blank out on a Kdrama of this length?! And yet, when I saw the safe full of gold bars, it finally rang a bell of recognition way back in my dusty brain.
Oh, well – it was a good, melo watch full of two of my favorite boys – Chang-wookie and Jang-woo….. those two boys are mighty fine!
Happy Mother’s Day to all my fellow moms!
how the HELL do you marathon something that long? That’s…WEEKS of tv even if you watch 5 hours a night.
Tell me about it. I even neglected OT for the past 2 weeks, pretty much. Each ep was about 40 minutes, but watched it on DramaCrazy, so was stuck with those commercials. Originally started watching on DF, but they’re way too slow in uploading eps (they’re only up to 40).
The big push was ep #90, on. Had several watching-until-5AM-nights/mornings.
I know. Nuts.
oh, I did that when I had my little break with sanity over Autumn Concerto and the yummy deliciousness of Bitter Ren.
I had stopped clicking on the listen/download link because most of the songs are in english and I wanted more korean. this one is pretty good though. thanks ms. db.
