Happy Friday, Bleary-Eyed DBers! Is it really Friday already? Yikes. I’m still slaving away at trial and can’t expound on much today, but I did want to give a quick recap of GooglePop from this past Monday night. In a word: AWESOME! Granted, the logistics of the event could have been handled better… a LOT better. From having to wait in traffic to park, then the 1.2 mile walk to the front gate, and then the 60 minute wait in line just to get in!! What really pissed me off was then having to wait in TWO separate lines just to get into the venue — apparently those with real tickets were given preference to enter earlier than those of us with vouchers from the original giveaway through MBC and Google. LAME.
But anyway. I shouldn’t complain much because it was a LOT cheaper (read: free) compared to the show the night before at the Honda Centre in Los Angeles. And you could definitely tell it was a class-act production from the stage setups to the sound system. The groups looked a little tired, but put on their best faces for everyone. And the fans were LOUD, even sitting back on the lawn like we did. I saw enough to be happy, and that’s all that matters, ne? It was nice to hang and spas out with Shel and Meggie and Ivoire, and I hope to finalize a full recap with pictures on my Tumblr over the weekend… if I make it to the weekend at all. ::clunk::
One WTF?!? thing I did hear this week is that Fuji TV is doing a reboot of “Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO)” to premiere in July, starring Akira from the band EXILE. No… just NO! I might take a look at it if Sorimachi-kun made a long cameo or something, but no. Ain’t gonna. Don’t spoil my fond memories of my first j-dorama!!
Gotta go put the monkey suit and heels back on now. Hope you all are gearing up for a lovely Saturday and Sunday (and Memorial Day Holiday, where applicable). Be back later!
Hi Cherkell! ^^
Glad you guys enjoyed the show! Loved the pictures you posted up on twitter. I’m still jealous of you all though. LOL
One day I tell you, I’ll be at one of those shows—Big Bang to be exact. I have to see them at least one time in my life. haha
Hello cherkell!
Why do people want to do remakes that can only be disappointing? Respect for the elders…
I can’t wait to see the pics of the concert!
A reboot of GTO??? Nooooo! It’s a classical classic! I love this show.
I agree that GTO should be left in pristine condition – Sorimachi Takeshi was my first asian crush, too. Akira, by contrast, has zero acting experience.
Reboot GTO? Nooooo! Why dorama gods? Why?
Good morning Cherkell,
I hope you will have a great today, in spite of work. For those of you who are interested in the Kpop concert and haven’t seen it yet, here are some links:
1–http://www.youtube.com/mbckpop?feature=etp-pv-kpc-jp
2–http://www.allkpop.com/2012/05/watch-the-full-replay-of-mbcs-korean-music-wave-in-google-concert
The 2nd link is the broadcast concert in its entirety, the way we experienced it and the way it was live streamed on Youtube. I went to the concert because it was free, because it was Kpop and because I wanted to experience a concert on such a scale with true fangirling. To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect, but I’m really glad I went. From walking to try and get to the back of the lines (I counted that as part of the experience), to waiting in line, to being in a place that probably had more than 20,000 excited fans about Kpop, to the lights, the screaming (I couldn’t hear out of my right ear after 2hours, my hearing is back though ) and watching the concert live in the open air, I had a great time and I am glad I went.
I thought I was somewhat of a Kpop fan (I am more into the Kdramas OSTs) because I know a few songs here and there and a few Kpop bands. I quickly realized I wasn’t much of a fan (I think) when the lady I was with (she goes to my church and I ran into her in line) knew the names of every single group (and the names of the people in the band), all the songs and the dance moves. I, on the other end, kept asking “so what group is it going to be now?” when a new group was announced. The thing is, I can recognize the artists from Super Junior (some of them, not all of them) and the ones from TVXQ and I know some of their songs. The other groups, I have read about them here and there, but I couldn’t tell you who is in what group. So it was a lot of fun being with Denise (the lady who goes to my church).
The people standing next to her where younger than us and were very nice. Two of them looked Asian and one of the girls looked American. I didn’t ask them where they were from. We talked, we laughed and we screamed together throughout the concert and that was fun as well.
Denise would post the pictures of the groups as they would be performing and her sister (who lives in NY) facebooked back and said she was jealous because she couldn’t be there. Her boss at some point facebooked her as well, “Denise, I know you are in heaven, behave” ha,ha, ha!!! She knew who she was talking to. I love that she is married and a mother of a two year old and yet she is so much fun to be around!!! I discovered a new side of her that night and learned that she exercises to those songs. The singers did admit that they were tired (they flew in, early that morning, or at some point that day), but they also said that being around such excited and enthusiastic fans gave them a lot of energy, and it showed. They do work really hard. There were some young guys to my left and one of them in particular would get soooo excited whenever the girls would come on stage and perform. He would get very animated and wouldn’t stop clapping, it was interesting to watch.
A funny and interesting thing happened at the concert: I wasn’t as far back on the lawn as Cherkell was (I think), I was by the rails. So this videographer from MBC (one could see his badge and the logo was also on his camera) would videotape people as they were coming and going, and he would walk around. He kept coming back to us and videotaped us (he did that a number of times) and Denise would wave and do the peace sign that people make when they take pictures. As she would wave, she would tell me: “smile and wave, we might end up on TV in Korea. He’s probably doing this because we are one of the few Black people here.” And I remember thinking;”and what would he do or say if he knew that we are probably the only Africans here (or one of the very, very few ones who came to the concert)?” I think she had a point, because there were not a lot of Black people there. I wonder what they will do with the footage. We went to say “goodbye” to him before we left (by that time he was on the railings as well), and we waved and smiled for the camera one last time. That was also part of my experience at that concert.
All in all, I am so glad I went, especially because I hesitated before going. It was a great event to experience and meeting Cherkell, Shell and Meghan (with whom I talked in the car on the way there, and on the way back from the concert, while we were walking) was the icing on the cake.
I tried to post this earlier, but my whole message was deleted. I had to type everything all over again
@ Cherkell, I sent you a couple of emails this week, just so you know (No need to respond right away). Thanks again for the Jelly, I really like it.
I would like to experience something like that at least once. So envious. Glad you’ll had a good time.
@ Hillary,
Thank you! I do hope that you will experience something like that in your lifetime. If you are given the opportunity, I would say “Go for it!!!” I don’t think you would regret it. I realized that it is one thing to see those guys on pictures, in music videos and on the internet and a totally different thing to see them on stage, giving it their best, surrounded by 24,000+ fans who love them.
I loved the whole experience, even the waiting in line, which was made better because I was with Denise and we caught up on each other’s lives and just talked as we waited in line. I walked so much this week that I lost 2 pounds (I got on the scale and saw the difference).
It was great to experience the energy that was in the place, to realize the popularity of Kpop and of the Korean Wave in general and to be with people who look nothing like me and yet we talked, and laughed and screamed together because of music and because of our common interest in many things Korean. Music does bring people together and seeing people wave their neon sticks (can’t remember the name of those sticks right now) during the slow songs was lovely. I have only seen that in movies or on TV, so to see it live was different.
There were banners, in Korean and in English, people in the audience did silly things when they would come up on the big screens (that was hilarious) and everyone was having fun.
I liked that the organizers had a section for disabled people. I could see them from where I was. There was an Asian family whose oldest daughter was in a wheel chair (they had 3 daughters) and they came with someone who looked like the dad of the wife or of the husband. It was touching to see all of them there, feeding their children dinner, and being accommodated, pulling out blankets and sweaters when the night got cold. Their daughter’s disability didn’t stop them from coming and she got to experience the concert as well.
The very best part is that it was free, that was awesome!!!! *Rave over* (Actually, it was more my impressions based on what I experienced. And I forgot to mention that my friend Denise is from Ghana, another African country).
Jealous of you guys even though I shouldn’t be jealous as am not really a fan of k-pop but I love open air concerts. So much fun!
Hello Shiku,
you are right! Open air concerts are a lot of fun, and I had no idea how much fun they were. I loved that the place was packed… That must have been encouraging for the singers and bands and dancers who were exhausted, poor guys. I think they left the US the next day because I read somewhere that they had another concert (some of them) on Tuesday in South Korea.
I would like to experience something like that too, I’m sooo envious… and it’s free and open concert … now double envious, here we have to pay about USD. 150 and not sleep 2 days for get ticket for SUJU concert in Jakarta. so in the end I decide not to watch the concert, cause to much energy to spend and line for 2 days is too much for me……
But I’m sooo Happy that you all had good time, and it’s look so much fun…..
Your experience brings good memories, when a friend and I attended a Rain concert with U-kiss as guest. It was an open air concert so no seating and we stood for 5 hours straight (this includes waiting in line and the concert itself). After the concert we were holding each other for dear life, we could not take a step because our legs refused to move and were both in pain but did we care? No we were so busy fangirling over Rain and U-kiss. If I had another chance I would definitely go and watch pain be damned.
Hello Ariel,
How long ago did you attend that Rain concert? I don’t know U-kiss, are they a Korean group as well? Isn’t it interesting what we do to have fun? I am glad you eventually recovered from standing for so long after the concert and I am also glad I didn’t experience such pain. It is all part of the experience though, and that is the best part in my opinion. About the fangirling, I had never been in a place where people where so loud, so much so that I couldn’t hear from my right ear for a while. Again all of it for me was part of the experience which I am grateful I had
I love your memories
Hello Annis,
Sorry for making you envious
, I just wanted to share the great experience that going to that concert was. So you guys have to pay about $150.00 and not sleep for two days to get a ticket for a SUJU concert in Jakarta, huh? Wow!!! But I don’t find that hard to believe, Kpop groups have a lot of fans worldwide.
I totally understand why you decided not to go to the concert and given what it took to go to that concert, I wouldn’t have gone as well. The price was really high (for me, especially if it was $150.00 USD), the long wait (two days, where does one sleep, how does one go to the bathroom, etc…) if you have to be in line literally for two days (unless you are there with other people watching your spot and you guys take turn going to the bathroom etc…)?
My other point is that you could pay all that money and still not have a good view at the concert, that would personally deter me from going. I like Kpop some, but not to the extent of doing all you have listed to go to a concert. I would rather watch them online where I can see them better. At the end of the day, it’s not like these stars know that I exist. I try not to go crazy about them.
I do admire their hard work, but I also remember that they are human and so not necessarily better me. I am just not famous, nor would I want to be. There is a price to pay for that level of fame and popularity, and I personally would not want to pay it.
I will be honest and say that the main reasons why I went to this concert were because it was free, I knew some people who were going and I wanted to experience it. Those were good enough reasons for me to block my whole Monday to go to the concert and it ended up being worth it.
U-kiss is a Korean boy group but sadly underated in Korea they released their comeback song Doradora this year. The concert with Rain was so long ago it was in Sept. 11, 2010 but the memories are still fresh and still makes me swoon. The concert ticket was around $100 and we were in the VIP section which was suppose to be the premier spot but turns out it was only second. The one down the stage was the best but reserved for guests. The price of the ticket was cheap considering it was Rain but still very pricey for us (around php 4,000), I’m from the Philippines by the way. When Super Junior came here my friend and I taught we’ll repeat the experience but the ticket for the good seat costs around php 12,000. You could imagine how much they will be charging for seats waaaaay at the back so we opted not to go. Monetary consideration will play havoc with your heart’s desire.
Hi Ariel,
I just happened to check the OT and saw your response. I will respond to it later today or tomorrow, so please check back. Thank you:-) Do you think I could find some of the U-Kiss songs on youtube? (I would like to listen to a few songs and see what they sound like).
Ivoire. Thanks for the links. What an awesome concert hey!
Hello KDrama, you are very welcome! And yes, it was a great concert
I think I saw you guys in the SJ clip. Care to confirm?
Hi Kdrama,
Do you mean the SUJU clip (or portion) during the concert? The portion that was broadcasted live? I am asking because the cameraman who kept coming back to us was a different guy. He wasn’t one of the main ones who were operating the big camera on the stage (that one was moving up and down, and could go sideways and that’s how they would get people in the crowd and show them on the big screen). I am a little doubtful that it was us, simply because my friend Denise and the people next to her would have said something if we had been shown on the big screens.
I think the filming that was done of us was probably edited later, because that particular cameraman kept walking around until the end of the concert, so I don’t think he had had the time to add his filming to that of the youtube filming that was going on live.
I would still need to watch that portion to confirm, I just wanted to give you my first impressions right off the bat. Have you watched the whole three hours yet? Because I haven’t. I needed to distance myself from it, so I could let it sink in better.
glad you also had a great time, Ivoire! AND got to run into a church-mate
Not as glad that your original reply to cherkell got eaten, but you’ve done an admirable job in re-posting to share with us all
@ Cmrprindle,
Hello dear, so good to hear from you!!! Thank you for your compliment about my post and I am glad that you enjoyed reading it (it sounds like you did). Coming from a writer, that means a lot. The way my first response was eaten was weird, but what could I do? I could only retype it, since I wanted to share with people here. I went and spent a little bit of time on your blog and I love your picture
I hope your weekend is going well. And yes, running into Denise from church was one of the best things about the concert.
Oh cherkell! I had so much fun reading Shel’s live-tweets from the concert
can’t wait until you have everything up. I’m glad you guys had a good time!
Happy Friday Yall!!!!
*A revision of history*
It has been told that: “History has always been told by the people in power”.
So what to do when the revisionist, reinterpret history and claim it as their own, knowing fully well that they are if not lying, at least destroying someone else history in order to gain from such evil deed.
For the past 20/30 years the Chinese government, has conducted a systematic effort to assimilate, the ethnic groups that make the population of China, and taking their historical background as their own.
Starting with the invasion of Tibet in the 1950′s, to the present highjack of Korean history and claim it as their own, via the “Northeast Asia Project”.
“ Recently the Center for China’s Borderland History and Geography Research of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has published some of the results of its historical research efforts in the “Northeast Asia Project.” As a result, the Chinese distortions of history have once again come to the forefront as an urgent issue.
China is using this publication to argue that not only the history of the ancient kingdom of Goguryo, but also the histories of the ancient kingdoms Go-joseon, Buyeo and Balhae, took place within the territory of contemporary China and their history is not that of Korea, but of China. (link,http://www.koreaembassy.org/han_koreaus/learn_eng/lecture_eng_view.asp?fldcontent=&fldtitle=&fldwriter=&num=29&page=3).
After the fall of the Soviet Union, and most recently the uprising in the Middle East, has force the Chinese government, not only to try to assimilate, but to claim that all the ethnic groups share a common Chinese ancestor thus nullifying any future claim of independence, and in the case of Korea all the ancient places, and historical artifacts from the ancient Korean Kingdoms will always remain under Chinese control.
I do hope that the Chinese eventually will come to their senses, since there is ample evidence to show that the Korean Kingdoms were never of Chinese origin.
I just wanted to say thank you for this info. I have never heard about this and it sounds completely absurd, but maybe I just don’t know the “whole” story. Anyways, thanks for the link, I’m going to take a look at it.
Thanks for the highlight. I obviously didn’t know about those potentially conflicting situation. Will read it when i’m able to focus enough.
The way I see it, China loves claiming a lot of things as its own these days–history, people, and territory. I find it rather sad and disappointing, especially since I also have Chinese lineage. China is already a big, booming country, but it’s still looking to get more power. Really sad… +_+
Yes, for example, they’re claiming that the South China Sea is ‘theirs’, just because it has the word ‘China’ -____-
i am indian and as far as i know relationship between india and china are not so good with china claiming sikkim(a state in india) comes under its authority or something anyway why cant we live peacefully with what we have and not being greed.
note:i am not strong in political and international news so it might not be accurate.
have a happy weekend every one.
Actually the state of Sikkim used to pay tax to the Tibetan government pre 1959(invasion of Tibet).
This is crazy because one of the reason why China claims Tibet is part of China is because “It has always been part of china in history” Wrong! If you want to be like then at one point Tibet took over China so does that make China part of Tibet?
I think sooner or later, the Chinese people will revolt like the people in the Middle East because they will get tired of being controlled and censored.
I don’t know that the Chinese will revolt any time soon because what would be in it for them? Their living standards are higher than they’ve ever been and steadily climbing. In fact, China is one of the few countries in the world with a *growing* middle class and its government has given the majority of its citizens few, if any, reasons to question its actions in any meaningful ways.
The censorship is so well-maintained and agenda setting within the media so superbly orchestrated that many Chinese youths don’t know about the massacre in Tiananmen Square and the few that do know cling to the propagandist misinformation that it was merely a ‘demo’ fomented by outsiders (Taiwanese) to create civil unrest.

Oh, and it’s not just Korea’s history, culture and artefacts that China wants to claim as its own. This annexing/co-opting of culture is merely groundwork to legitimize the land-grab once N. Korea falls.
@AMG1
Thanks for bringing this to everyone’s attention. In my OT fan-fic, I included almost word-for-word what the Chinese Prime Minister said about the oil- and gas-reserves underneath the South China Sea. Basically, it’s all theirs right up the little waves that touch all the other countries. [sigh]
A powerhouse in their own right, but still trying to play bully in the playground.
Happy Friday OTers and Beaners, JB, GF. What a busy week, yes? with 3 wonderful drama end their drama this wed-thu.
I watch RTP, its worth the pain, but i have 1 thing to confuse, maybe because i watch relent only on recaps.
(SPOILER ALERT) in episode 1 when the prince told J3 about the fateful night, how could he missed to said that bu yong eat the persimmon and not the princess after being told that the poison is in persimmon? but well, like JB said, this drama forte is no logic. (end spoiler)
i’m wondering how equator man ended, wait patiently for the recap.
K2H might not be the best drama, but sure its one of the best drama this year. TRUST me i’m not complaining they take bot down, but its do kind of a waste.
well, good thing is, we still have QIHM for our wed-thu doses.
QIHM is my only sweet thing these days (with Legal High). I’m impatient to see the new dramas on my screen.
Hi Mystisith!
Legal High? is that kdrama or jdrama? seem have heard…
is it good? how’s the story?
It’s a Jdorama. About a greedy arrogant lawyer who has to team up with a young idealist female lawyer. The main character is totally nuts (and i suspect the actor too) and the dialogues are so funny. I said on Twitter it’s a mix of Mr Bean and Dr House. Bwahaha… I laugh just remembering the scenes.
6 eps subbed.
http://www.dramacrazy.net/japanese-drama/legal-high/
Mystisith ~
I’ll have to check Legal High out. Sounds good.
tomorrow, first thing in the morning, will have to check this one out, thanks Mys.
p.s. is it ok to call you Mys?
@ Fairycutter: Mys is ok! Even M could work but now it’s too “Club M” connoted and it’s not convenient when you skim through 500 comments. ^^
I love Legal High! The episode where she sings makes me laugh every time. It’s his face. I want that as my screen saver.
(SPOILER ALERT) in episode 1 when the prince told J3 about the fateful night, how could he missed to said that bu yong eat the persimmon and not the princess after being told that the poison is in persimmon? but well, like JB said, this drama forte is no logic. (end spoiler)
Actually I was wondering the same…apparently the writer had completely forgotten what he wrote in episode 1 xD
totally forgotten. bet, she/he don’t have time to read back since still have to write for the next episode. this drama not only suffer from live shot but also live writing.
well, write fantastic episode is not easy, the writer lost it in the middle, and by the end, she/he just need to write good love story ant think anything else will be forgotten.
but some people, do turn on by the mystery to which seem be take lightly by the writernim.
At the doctor’s office to be seen so I stopped in to say wassup, drama-bean-peeps! I’ll see you lovelies later!
Ok, I’m back from the doc and everything seems to be working and in its place!
As far as kdrama stuff goes, I’ve been trying to watch Standby as much as I can but I noticed that Jung So Min has been absent from the last few episodes. After reading the Couchkimchi blog, they mentioned this article about her:
http://osen.mt.co.kr/article/G1109406258
I was wondering if any kind, awesome soul who can read Korean can tell me what it’s all about. I ran it through Google Translate and somehow it still doesn’t make sense to me. I hope it’s not serious.
Although my Korean is limited, it says that “She has already shot outdoor scenes today and she was simply following the flow of the script.”
Hi kewbie…glad your doctor’s appointment went well
Oh oh OT is here . I feel like I need it this week
. One would think I am K drama out but apparently not. How’s everyone. I am starting my therapy which is episode 1 of QIHM.
Be careful! You have to be prepared and download the whole thing – up to ep12 now- before starting QIHM.
Nowadays it’s safer to download while it’s airing rather than wait.Which might explain why I need 3TB of HD space.
The downside is I sometimes can’t be bothered to wait for subs.By the time they come out the series will have concluded and I lose interest.
wow. that’s a good preparation! i got 1tb HD and its full already. i can’t imagine to delete any of them.
That’s what I do, too! I have about 25 waiting in the wings for me to watch, going back to 2007′s “Corner With Love”. Same thing, torrenting them immediately for later consumption.
I ultimately only keep the ones I watch over and over on my 1TB. It’s still getting a bit cramped with my animes rubbing elbows with my live-action stuff.
thanx for the recaps
Good morning, beanie-chingus!
What a week! It started with a huge kpop concert here in NoCal, where I took my daughter and met with Ivoire and CherKell. I wasn’t sure I was up to that yet, but I survived. Yay! It was fun, my daughter had a blast, still telling all her friends about it (none of which are kpop fans, they’re all fangirling over the Bieber, but whatever) It was fun to meet CherKell and Ivoire, too. Long day, but a good time. And thanks, ladies, for being to sweet to my girl. She thought you guys were awesome.
K2H tried to rip our hearts out, but wow what a ride that show was I loved it. It had it’s flaws, (what was up with pretend America, do people really think we’re that trigger-happy???) I went through boxes of Kleenex and chocolate. Oh my. I think this may be my favorite kdrama ever.
Haven’t watched RTP final yet, I”m on that in a minute. So , I”m not coming back to OT until that’s over. I don’t want any spoilers.
QIM is the absolute cutest show ever. Ricky’s Yoo In Ah is absolutely adorable in it. It’s a nice change of pace from the intense K2H. And Bong Do is adorable, too. I’m a sucker for dimples.
In RL SCHOOL IS OUT and today is the last day of early morning seminary. I’ll be doing the OT from my comfort of my couch/recliner/bed instead of sitting in the car in the teacher’s driveway, lol. My summer is going to be crazy-busy with family and we’re excited about that!
Hi Shel! ^^
Can’t believe summer is here. School here isn’t out until June. Lucky you.
I’m hoping to marathon QIM sometime soon. I’m hearing lots of good things. Been reading recaps and so far it is awsome. Love the main leads. So cute together. ^^
“Fangirling over the Bieber”… I believe there’s an ointment and/or vaccine for that.
Shel dahling! I’m sorry for putting you guys through a virtual walk-a-thon — my legs could not function well on Tuesday at all and my ears were still ringing. But we did it! And Meg is a hoot; you’ve got a good kid there. She was a pleasure to hang and share anime stories with.
I just wish us working stiffs actually had a “summer vacation” to call our own. Big Heavy Sigh…
OH…and double thanks for the awesome lemon bars. They were breakfast fare for a couple of days for all of us, lol.
Good morning Shel,
I am glad you survived last Monday. I had a good time talking to Meghan and hanging out with her. We talked about school, college, her curriculum, her love of SS501, Kim Hyung Joong (and what we love about him), Korean dramas and Kim Bum.
I asked her a lot of questions about Japanese anime, since I don’t know much about them and it was interesting to hear what she had to say. Thank you also for the strawberry jam, I had some on Tuesday morning on some crepes I had made over the weekend. The jam made the crepes even more delicious.
You’re welcome for the jam! It’s my favorite to make..so easy, no pits, no peels, lol.
And Meghan enjoyed talking to you, too. It’s nice for her to have someone to talk to, none of her friends are Kpop fans, and only a couple watch anime.
@ Shell,
I hope you took the gift I gave you at Cherkell (and got a chance to read the cards) and that you didn’t forget it there, remember my wallet
?
It was interesting for me to talk to Meghan about her schooling because as you know I am a French tutor and I am very interested in education and in educational systems. Not having grown here (and therefore not having gone to school here as far as kindergarten through High School), I was interested in what she shared about her curriculum, how it’s broken down and the fact that she will start taking college classes soon, which will give her a leg up when she does go to college. I liked her thought process and the fact that she had a plan and she knew what she wanted to do and how she was to proceed with it. She is also good at explaining things and she is patient, which is always a quality.
Talking about Kim Hyung Joong and Kim Bum was a lot of fun. We kept bringing up the things we liked about him (KHJ) and what we knew of him. It was nice to see that in spite of our age differences (I am old enough to be her mother), we understood each other when it came to some of the Kpop culture and she educated me on the anime stuff. It worked out because you could talk to Cherkell and I was talking to Meghan, so no one was left out.
It must be lonely at times that she can’t share her enthusiasm of Kpop with all her friends and I can understand that.
I did get the gift, thank you! My family has been enjoying the chocolate. I’m thinking I’m going to try some hot Honey Ginger now, as I”m up kind of late, and maybe something warm will knock me out, lol.
I’m just glad Meg has a plan. Her previous plan was to just get out of high school and never go to school again. But she’s found something she’s excited about and that makes me excited. And, that for at least three of her classes next year, I’m not responsible, lol.
Hi Shell,
I am still up as well, and I will be up for the night because I just took a 4 hours nap and I am ready to now catch up on TK2Hs (last two episodes + episode 4 which I never watched, I just read the recap) and maybe start QIHM (I am considering marathoning it this weekend, but we will see. I would like to take a break from Kdramas for a while and focus on other things).
And you are welcome! (for the gift), I am glad your family likes the chocolate and I hope that the Honey Ginger Tea will warm you up and prepare you for a good night sleep.
I guess regarding Meghan’s lack of ambition in the past, one could attribute that to her being a teenager and to her young age as well. She is definitely excited about Graphic Design and she did a good job tying that in with the computer work used during the Kpop concert to explain to me what she would like to study. That helped me understand what she was talking about.
The other interesting thing about the career path she is choosing is that it might be an industry where there are not enough (or a lot of ) women still, in which case she will stand out as well, especially if she gets good grades and does well during internships, she would stand out.
Hopefully the fact that you are not responsible for three of her classes next year will give you a little bit of a break.
Happy Friday and the rest of the weekend everyone!
Rooftop Prince has finished *sad face* but there’s still the fantastic QIM for all our viewing pleasure! I swear, that drama is getting better and better – how often do you see that happening in drama land?
And tomorrow, Dr Jin starts (my inner JYJ fangirl is happier than ever) and even if it turns into something utterly terrible I’ll be watching it for the eye candy till the very end!
Re Dr Jin
Does anyone know if Viki will be subbing this? I hope so for quick subs.
I thought I got a notice from them that they will be subbing Dr. Jin … and they have a team in place for it.
That’s what I heard too. It should be fast subbed with most viki teams. ^^
Happy OT everyone! ^^
K2H–you ended with a happy ending. Thank you.
RTP—sooo sweet they met again. Now, they can have their happy ever after.
FK—-wtf went wrong with you? You are my number 1 worst drama of 2012. Why did you have to be so messed up and destroy any hope of redemption with your ending? Crap–is all I have to say to you.
Have a great Friday all! and a awsome memorial weekend!
Did everyone forget The Marriage Plot? I though the last episode was so touching and funny at the same time.
Doesn’t that make 5 dramas ending?
Hi ck10z!
YEs, but I have not watched marriage plot. I have been keeping up with recaps though. ^^ IT looks good and not bad like you know what—FK. (rollseyes)
I will probably marathon MP too sometime later on.
I read the spoilers or was it ranting. Lol. I think it rates between WHIB for the ending.I am so happy I didn’t start it. Or Royal Family’s ending.
I think this long weekend is when I am finally going to watch Marriage Plot. It has been on my pending list for a while.
Re FK
well, with all those dramas this year present, its like mandatory to give us at least worst drama of the year, otherwise, we wont have full categories at the yearend review. Drama God need to be fair and square.
LOL YEp. Looks that way. A lot of people had high expectation of FK. Me, I was hoping it was just a decent show with a good ending. Didn’t get either since the writing and storyline was crap. Oh wait, there was no storyline. Just a bunch of stuff thrown together. Characters were really flat–one dimension.
Because of your comment, I just had to go out and read recaps of the finale. And I got to agree, the ending sucks so bad.
Really. I never thought such an ending will ever be possible, but it happened. Poor YAI. I hope he considers his next drama/movie a lot longer. Another of this kind, and I’ll be left…uhm…heartbroken.
I don’t rant about bad drama with bad ending much but when there’s one that sucks all around…I just have to get my say in. LOL
Now it’s just…meh…when I think about FK–what could have been. It’s alright when I think of Deeno’s alternate endings to this show. OOOOh if only the show could go back and remake the ending. haha! would be great!
I didn’t mean to make the ending tolerable. I just couldn’t stand the real ending. Snark can fix a lot of things, but nothing can fix Fashion King.
Deeno~ Your alter endings were better then the original! I agree with you, FK can’t be fixed period because it’s the story itself that’s bad, not the acting or the actors. Where this story was going, I have no idea. Maybe in circles and yet nowhere. LOL
Hey everyone … I finally have been able to open up my schedule to join OT … and I am quite early, I see. So I said farewell to RP and K2H. They served me well … until I watched QIHM.
For anyone who is not on the QIHM’s bandwagon as yet, you don’t know what you are missing. This drama has everything: cinematography, tight plot, great dialogue and fantastic chemistry between the OTP. Did I forget to mention the chemistry between the OTP? I must emphasize the chemistry between the OTP … If you don’t believe me, the following link is a video put together by joshariae0819 (thanks tessieroo from the Sompi thread for pointing this one out …) with just a sampling of the kisses of the OTP.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0xHlKW1V0Q
Hope someone makes a video of their date in episode 12 that I can share with OT. That was, hands-down, the best date scene that I have seen on any kdrama. These two need to be a couple for real…
Now that I read your comment, I’m glad I started watching QIHM. Though I’ve only just started, I’m sure this drama will be good
The video’s really cute
I’m in L.O.V.E with QIHM. I do not remember liking a drama so much. It has everything you said, cinematography, tight plot, etc… and wonderful acting. It really seems that the QIHM team has a great handle on even the finest detail on that show. JHW is doing a fantastic job as Boong-Do.
In episode 11? when he flinches at the words “your boyfriend..”(love it). On ep. 12 when they are..actually, that whole episode was fantastic. I love both of them.
I did not even know what tumblr was until I started stalking this show. Two episodes a week are not enough. Not knowing any Korean is not preventing me from watching it raw, just because I have to know what is going to happen next. I have never been this obsessed about any drama before. I have only been watching Asian dramas for 2 years, but never had this reaction before. There are some dramas that I feel should NOT be 20 episodes (Baby Faced Beauty-I’m looking at you), yet with QIHM I never want it to end.
I think QIHM could be 20 episodes, but I’ll be a good girl and go with short and sweet/intense/amazing/awesome/sjdbgksjbgkjdbgkjsd<333333
*TEARS*
Hi OT peeps!
Does anyone remember the furore caused by a certain alterna-recap/mashcap last year? Well, it seems the author of said post has not learned her lesson!
http://thundiesprattle.com/2012/05/24/history-of-the-rooftop-fashion-king-episode-1/
ha ha! Have you finished serving yet? I thought you were in for eternity.
Off to read!
I never understood why so much hate for the first post actually: Dramas are not sacred material. Drama makers should bow for their viewers, not the other way around… And i also love mixing unrelated things.
I found it so hilarious so I want MOAR!!!
Friday!
Watching: Kagi no Kakatta Heya, JIN 2, New My Fair Princess, H.I.T.
Have plenty to watch, looking forward to some of the new shows coming out.
Have a safe Memorial Day Weekend.
Oh, yeah, QIM as well.
Happy OT everyone! how’s everyone feeling now that the wed/thurs shows are over. Watched TK2H, and was rather satisfied with the ending given the numerous kiss scenes in between, a pity over SK’s death and I was really hoping to the end it wasn’t true. RTP was ok for me, because I knew it would be impossible for LG and PH to be together in the modern world, but it played out ok for me. What dramas will you all be watching next? Currently watching Queen In-hyun’s Man to get rid of my withdrawals, and hopefully, it won’t make it worse ):
I was so caught up with K2H and RP I forgot when I Need Romance 2 starts.
You guys would think I am nuts but not starting Big or I do because I need me some light drama after this. Live streaming K2H left me with a bounding pulse rate each time.I am ready for some melo or mellow drama.
QIHM will probably give everyone a kind of withdrawal that has never been given before when it ends… xP
I WILL REGRET NOTHING THOUGH<3
Hi there DB Team and fellow Beaners.
2 big dramas have finished which means something new:)
The KPop concert in seemed to go off well.
Still really enjoying QIHM.
Will be in Seoul for work in June (7-13) but will be free some nights/afternoons. Would love to meet fellow KDrama/Pop fans there. Anybody interested in a meet up?
Or if anyone wants to talk KDrama in Paris this weekend I’ll be there:)
I would like to know what kind of a job do you have that you are in Paris then Seoul? Jealous
Hi Kas. I am a tour guide
Just realized now that a lot of dramas have finished this week there might be more subbers available to work on QIHM-fingers crossed!
Salutations!
I feel like it’s been ages since I was here last. You know how I’m always saying I’m leaving my job, my job is leaving me instead, or my department is being moved to salt lake city, but I’m not being asked to go they’re laying me off- and recruiting there. If I wanted to continue I’d have to reapply ( they’d hire me of course, I’d just be paid goat feces) But, since finding out I’ve come to work everyday with a smile on my face, everyone in our department is smiling and happy.
I finished Kim Ji Woo chakanim’s The Devil and I think she made up for all of her forgiving by killing everyone in that drama- there wasn’t a single person alive at the end, it’s mostly satisfying. It’s Kim Ji Woo chakanim! I’m stumbling through my sweet spy it has moments of such cute and such awkwardness. I feel quite like I’ve eaten two dinners. I finished Hero and it was sad to say good bye to Yang Dong Geun I hope there’s a season 2. Have any of you seen 21st century family? I hope there’s a season 2.
I think that people enjoyed k2h better than oktap so I’ll start k2h soon. Please congratulate me on becoming unemployed in September!
Wow!
If losing your job gets you all smiley then maybe it’s a good thing. Sometimes we (or at least I) need a kick in the pants to go on on our lives. September can be the best time to travel (less people and nice weather, at least in France).
Congratulations on being laid off! Huh. I never thought those words would be coming out of my (virtual) mouth. ‘~’ I hope you’re able to move on to something that you truly enjoy.
I want more Hero, too! I’m dying to see where they go now – there are so many interesting stories that could follow in this world. Along with new things, there’s even more to do with the TX storyline because that wasn’t completely wrapped up. Since it’s OCN, I’m hopeful that we’ll get a season 2.
me too. I think the way it ended was leading in that direction. with his speech on the rooftop and all. The last episode had too much information for it to be the end right?
Exactly. And remember what that TX woman (can’t remember her name/title) said to Rhyohei? “See you in the next city.” So does she just go from city to city experimenting and playing with politicians in her quest for more power, or what? I need to know what that means!!!!
And am I the only one who had a hard time with Rhyohei Otani being a bad guy? I thought he did a good job, and I accepted it, but I kept thinking of how sweet he was in Soulmate.
yeah my sister and I kept asking to try the killer smile technique instead of bullet to the head. we were very amused with ourselves.
congrats on being free. Hope you find a job that you love soon.
I got bored of my sweet spy within the first few episodes. Dennis Oh is really good looking, but i just can’t watch him in a drama. Whenever he talks, I feel like he’s talking to a child.
I actually don’t mind the english speaking as much as I should. The timing is good enough for conversation, in fact I have to acknowledge that everyone in the drama has good time in that way.
I hope not to find a job soon don’t curse me aoiaheen! I’ll be given severance, I’ll apply for unemployment and a student loan I’ll use my non-savings savings and hopefully not work fulltime for 2 and a half years.
lol. ok , i take back my blessing/curse. Good for you. It looks like you have a sound plan.
Laid off is better than being fired or quitting as you are eligible for unemployment while you look for a better job. So congratulations as I know that you have been unhappy for a while. See it works out best that you stuck in there … because now they have to pay for part of your unemployment. Good luck in your job search.
Hi Bunny-ishi
Sorry to hear about your job being outsourced but you will get a new beginning or a better job. Or you could move to Charlotte as there are a lot of NY transplants.
K2H is really good once you get passed the first few episodes.
I don’t usually feel happy for someone who’s soon-to-be-unemployed, but if the person is happy about it then who am I to judge otherwise?
Congratulations, ahjummabunny! May the next things (job, studies, hobbies…) that occupy your time be the ones that truly make you happy.
Wishing you all the luck, chingu!
Ahjummabunny Love! *HUGS*
Congratulations!!!
Sounds like the perfect time to visit South Korea!!!
MJP!!! *HUGS*
Bridal Mask long trailer is out!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fhiJImUN67A#!
And now I am worried because this drama has given me such impossibly high expectation. I swear if it turns bad I might cry blood *not really, but still…*
thanks for posting this. I am so excited about this drama. Time??? Why only 24 hours in day?
But thankfully most of the dramas I’m currently watching will be over soon.
That trailer’s looking really good. Can’t wait to see the first ep.!
Preview for Ep 1:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSHSMqPfk6g
There’s something I’d like to point out this week :
1. Queen In Hyun’s Man ep 11 *a little bit SPOILER* : Boong Do taking revenge on Dong Min and lock him in the bathroom is the cutest thing.
2. King 2Hearts ep 20: Hang-ah pointed a gun to Jae Ha’s head. So they’re even now?
3. Amazing JYP’s special in Immortal classic. Boy, Ailee can sing!!
4. I just found out about Park Jae-hyung. His cover of can’t take my eyes of you is breathtaking.. Yes, I’m a bit late, just found out about him because he signed up with JYP.
And, Monster is coming out on June and it teaser was trending topic worldwide today. So. Happy.
With the news of Seunggi back to variety, all is suddenly well again with the world.
Whaaaatt JYP on Immortal classic???? I Have.To.Watch.It!!!
is jeon hyun moo still replacing kim gura??
JYP is the legend. for the last two weeks..
i don’t know about the mcs, i just watched bit and pieces in youtube. i cant wait for the sub episodes later in kbs world..
here is some of my fav this week :
ailee’s

Hellow everyone.
QIHM. I giggle whenever I think of that drama. To think I didn’t care one bit about it before it aired. Seriously, I saw a few posters but I didn’t think about it at all.
Waiting impatiently for Arang and the magistrate. It sounds very interesting.
Can’t wait for love rain to end. I think the last 2 episodes were a bit boring but i’d like to see how it ends.
Take care guys!
Yes, the chemistry is so palpable that it makes me jealous. Now, I’m going to blame Boong-do if I never find any Joseon scholar who smart and witty.
Also the cinematography and directing. The pace of the drama is sosmooth. I really enjoy this one!
aoiaheen ~
Re Love Rain: Ha Na’s mom did the Noble Idiot routine !
Why ? What could be gained? Joon’s mom needs to go away.
I know! Why oh why can’t the PD’s stay away from noble idiocy?
She’s going blind, for christs sake! I was literally screaming… “don’t be such a martyr. just tell them!”
Thankfully the second generation isn’t like that.
Isn’t noble idiocy a staple of the seasons series by this director? It is to be expected.
Does anyone know if Love Rain is 20 episodes or 24? Because I thought I saw 24 but everyone keeps on implying that it is 20 episodes. Maybe it was cut when they decided to cut the 70s episodes in half because of the ratings??
I think it is 20. But i’m not sure.
Damn Love Rain! I was totally into it a while ago – back when there were some actual cute OTP moments before everything started going all (SPOILER ALERT – but not really because this is from the four seasons dramas team) quasi-incesty and impending disease angst. For whatever reason, I’m still watching, but I’m really not holding out any hope that this show is going to get any better. At least it is pretty to look at.
But QIHM? Oh. My. God. Gah! That show. I have watched episode 11 at least 3 times now, and I’ll probably watch it again once it’s subbed. Like you I wasn’t all that excited when it premiered, because I was already watching RTP (which like Love Rain I only finished because I had invested all that time already). But now? This OTP is quickly becoming one of my all time faves.
re: love rain and quasi-incesty thing and impending disease. It’s almost like the director doesn’t get any other ideas for conflict. I think summer scent was the only one where there was no possible brother-sister link.
I actually liked autumn tale (not the entire drama, but just the concept) because i thought that the concept was kinda of unique at that time. but the others i didn’t really like.
And he’s done the blind thing before with winter sonata.
I wonder what will his next drama be. “Hate snow” with long lost fake brothers in love? (that one I might like)
I love the idea of Hate Snow! I’m picturing Lee Min Ho and Yoo Ah In cohabitating as “platonic” friends/roommates. One night after a bromantic ticklefest, YAI’s photo albumspills to the floor and they discover a questionable relationship between their parents. Cue hours of standing in empty fields as the snow falls, staring longingly in the distance.
a bromantic ticklefest between LMH and YAI? *fans self*
I was trying to think of another character that drew me as quickly and powerfully at BD, and then I remembered Una.
Both stoic, heroic, brave, selfless, smart.
Poor Una didn’t get to kiss anyone, though.
I thought if by any chance they decide to kill off BD, Writers forbid! I would have to go to Korea, find the writers, and hit them with a sockful of quarters.
Just imagining the possibility he would not be with HJ yesterday, my eyes filled with tears.
I adore him.
no… no… NO! They can’t kill BD. I still haven’t recovered from the WBDS ending.
They are very similar, now that i think about it. Is that why I like BD so much? I can’t imagine Una being locked up in a shower though. But if he were he’d react exactly like BD did. a short selfdeprecating laugh, followed by dignified silence.
“I can’t imagine Una being locked up in a shower though.”
Oh I could with no problem…… but I’d probably be sent to jail for my pedo-ahjumma thoughts.
oh you naughty girl you! Just FYI, BD was fully clothed when he was in the shower ( a pity).
Are you two-timing ‘your precious’?
speaking of whom… JCW! when is your next drama? Please come back as a bad guy. I want to see that cry-cry video character a little more.
NO ONE will ever replace My Precious! But I can at least point, stare and drool — I may be old, but I’m not dead!!
I’m keeping an ear to the ground on when the negotiations for his next drama finalize themselves. I think his management company has learned a lesson about going with a cable show, since they’re talking with one of the Big Three right now. But I agree… HURRY THE HELL UP ALREADY!! Hulu+ must think I’m a pervert or something, replaying that Episode 5 of BVS over and over and over…
Hey everyone, what a week in K-dramaland. What’s up with all the character demises, all three shows K2H,RTP and crazy FK who all have some type of king or prince had violent send off for them.
Honestly RTP, and K2H were both great shows, because of the great cast and the emotional impact. RTP was funny and sweet and K2H was intense and sincere. I do feel that both shows had a few bumps and plot points they missed or skipped over but overall they were great.
With that being said I still have Queen In-hyun’s Man which will be in my favorite list. Waiting for 11 and 12 to be subbed this show is just to good to for me to watch raw. I respect the show so much I‘ll wait. LOL (Sings: I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it.)
Licia’s OT Honorable Mentions #2
Coming in at #3 Honorable Mentions: Nodame Cantabile
l just started watching this JDrama its great. You ever watch a drama that’s a few years old and think: what was I doing at this time in my life to have not watched such a great show. I needed to watch something light with all drama this week and it goes perfectly, it helped to lessen stress from Kdrama.
Music: Honorable Mentions # 2 Emile Sade from the U.K.
I just started listening to her because I saw on Conan and now can’t stop listen to her. She has such a lovely, pure, sweet voice. She’s a singer/songwriter that really take you into her songs and she plays the piano. Just wanted to share some great music with you all.
The video is choppy for the first five sec.
Honorable Mentions # 1What’s your Kdrama summer schedule?
Next week is premier week starting with Big on Monday. Poor Monday had to be stuck with Fashion King so here’s to you Big and your quest to redeem Monday back. I love the trailer and ever since Smile You I’ve been following Lee Min Jung I think she does better in comedies then drama so I’m excited to see this one. Bridal Mask is another one that’s on my watch list.
I have more that I’m going to check out I tend to watch shows up to ep 4 to see if I get hooked or not but the things sometimes I get hooked and then the shows falls apart by ep 9 and my completest nature makes want to finish the show even if plot maybe standstill.
Anyone else know what shows they will be watching to this summer?
Sorry forgot to post the link for
Emile
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm1XDFU4FXE&feature=related
Dramas I’m definitely watching: Big, Bridal Mask, and definitely Arang. I’ll probably try the others, but I’m not as excited about them. Seriously, I’m going to be so depressed if Arang doesn’t live up to my ridiculous expectations.
Speaking of expectations, I’m so proud to say that I was backing the QIHM horse from day one! It’s so satisfying to put your faith in a drama and then discover that it’s even better than you’d hoped. I’m waiting for subs, too, and it’s killing me – I need my Boong-do fix! (Cue collective swooning.) *sigh* But, really, I’m just glad it’s being subbed at all, no matter how long I have to wait.
/Did you read DramaTalk and Jooni’s recaps? They are really detailed and has some dialogue translations in them. Couldn’t wait for Dramabeans’ recaps as they are a bit behind.
I don’t like to read recaps as a substitute for subtitles. Call me picky, but I’d rather understand the actors as they’re speaking than watch the episode raw and then go figure out what happened by reading the recap. I think that would sap out some of the in-the-moment enjoyment for me. Thanks for the tip, though!
Licia~
Nodame ! I enjoyed the live action so much I watched the anime and enjoyed it as well.
She’s such a lovable character.
Hi Licia
Singing and dancing with you. QIHM is becoming one of my favorite. This is the second drama that I want to watch raw after Smile, You. So many people are saying that they are watching it raw but where can I find it if you mind
Thank you. And have a wonderful weekend everyone.
You can watch it raw on dramacrazy (only 2 episodes raw; all others are subbed). Also see link below as the Hamster has really HD-quality subbed versions up to episode 10 … better than dramacrazy) here:
http://www.dailymotion.com/TheHamzter#video=xmy48k
You can find detailed recaps (with some dialogue translations)
http://joonni.com/
http://maymaywatch.blogspot.com/
You can also try “krdrama.org” The episodes come there raw after 3 hours or so, around 10:00am pacific US time.
Yay! Thank you Hillary and Ivoire! Run off to watch. QIHM is daebak!!
You are very welcome, enjoy! And then you can watch it subbed at “kimchidramas.net” when it’s done being subbed.
IT’S FRIDAY! I’m miserable again! Wednesday is so far away and there are only 4 more episodes of QIHM left
Happy OT everyone!
As J posted above, both the highlight reel and teaser for ep 1 of Bridal Mask are out. I have replayed both a ridiculous amount of times. If this turns out to be less than awesome, I shall be crushed.
So many dramas ending this week! I read the spoilers for the end of Fashion King and burst out laughing–total trainwreck.
I’m really looking forward to that one, too. The teasers look great and show that a lot of care went into making this drama. It also helped that they got some extra time to shoot before the show airs. For some reason I have a feeling that Park Ki-woong is totally going to steal the show.
I am one of those sorry-asses that watched Fashion King despite my better judgement and warnings from others – it was like watching horrible trainwreck/car accidents that you hoped someone came out OK. Well, no one did – the last episode was the worst of them all.
I am so mad that I wasted 20 hours of my life on this show. Writer(s) and director should be shamed of themselves.
I promise next time that I will listen to the voice of reasons before diving into something worthless. Scout’s honor.
Hello everyone and Happy Friday. Also For those having a long weekend (US, Memorial Day on Monday), I hope you will get to enjoy your weekend and hopefully (possibly) a nice weather as well .
Hi Ivoire!
Hope you’re having a good weekend! ^_^
Hi Laya, so good to see you here
!
And yes, so far I am having a very good weekend. I am basically spending the long weekend at a friend’s apartment who is away on the East coast (I live on the West Coast, in CA) for a wedding. She has a nice big apartment, and it is all mine for five days. I have been lounging around, catching up on TK2Hs, Rooftop Prince, listening to Kpop and participating on OT. I do take time for bathroom breaks, eating and sleeping here and there. I am having a very relaxing weekend. I will cook later and on Monday, for my friend, when she comes back, to thank her.
How is your weekend going? Please help me refresh my memory: we started communicating last OT right, and you live in the Philippines, with your family? (or at least with your sister and her baby?)
Hey all, just wanted to say thank you for your input last OT. Turns out I was wrong and I don’t have to do the presentation til this coming Tuesday. But (in a large part because of your help) I was ready this last Tuesday!
Oh! Also, I have Fantastic Baby at the very end of the presentation and if I could I would record my class’s reaction for all who suggested it
ooooh!! It’ll be awesome if you could record their rxn. The following’s the funniest rxn to FB. Cracks me up all the time!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlqHozuyd1M
Good Luck on your presentation!! Fighting!
That is so adorable!
. I’m expecting a few looks of confusion, but I think at least a few of the girls in class will get into it
I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to film reactions, but i’ll see what I can do
A classmate stepped up to film them, but we both agree that they were stifling their reactions because they knew they were being filmed. We could totally tell. She ended up dancing a bit to the music
. So, there is video, but it’s disappointing.
Annyeo everyone,
Happy Friday!
I am a full-time lurker and a very, very, very rare poster. The past 8 weeks have been consumed by King2Hearts and RooftopPrince. And now, I dont know what to do. I am feeling lost. Adrift, so to speak.
Fellow-DB-visitors, help a poor soul out and recommend what you are watching now, so I can get myself out of this funk. From reading the recaps here, I am thinking Queen InHyun’s Man. Anything else?
With QIHM don’t think… just do! it’s THAT good.
I was also watching love rain. If you like slow paced romance and a little melodrama this is nice. But you should start at episode 5.
I am a big fan of Jan Geun Suk, but I cant bring myself to watch Love Rain. I saw Yoona in another drama before. And she was painful to watch. Did her acting improve?
She’s much better in this one. Not great but good.
Did you check my link to the youtube video from QIHM above? Just dive right in. You will probably end up marathoning the series and be like the rest of us … salivating for the next subbed episode.
QIHM is DEFINITELY in.
I actually like The Marriage Plot quite a bit.You have to ask the others where to get the subs though. Also a lot of people have asked me to watch Fermentation Family.
Skip Feast of the Gods.
If you have time, would love to know why you said skip Feast of the Gods.
Plot.It be changing direction.Plus I can’t comment more without it being spoilery. The food preparation part of the drama falls short of my expectation. When one has a limited amount of time to watch KD can’t afford to waste it. Anymore and I will get into trouble with my comments. Considering I’ve kept up with it via comments from viki friends working on it.Sorry bkiss like SW but they didn’t treat the leads well.
May not come back to OT to read your reply. Now that RP is complete promised to do some subbing before BM starts. Have a great weekend leonardswench.
Queen In-hyun’s Man ASAP…
OCN’s Hero
God of War -if you like Saguek
JYP is the legend.
I just watched the performances bit in youtube. So I don’t know who’s replacing Kim Gura, I see that’s Min Kyung is sitting there, maybe she is the mc? I’m sorry, not helping much. I can’t wait for the sub episode come out in kbs world!
Happy 241st OT everyone? Why celebrate 241? Why not! Every OT is a celebration!
So I’ve decided that this Memorial Day weekend is going to be Drama Catch-Up Weekend, aka when I finally sit my but down and finish one of the dramas that I’ve been swearing I would for months now.
But I need a little help deciding – Which one is worth marathoning on the rare three-day weekend?
Dal-ja’s Spring
Return of Iljimae
Shut-Up FBB
Thousand Days’ Promise
What’s Up Fox?
City Hall
History of a Salaryman
No contest. Shut Up Flower Boy Band … followed either by Dal-Ja’s Springs or City Hall or History of Salaryman.
what she said
The two Joanne’s think alike… LOL
Of course we do. Now get your hands off My Beloved. Are you in Trinidad yet?
Not yet. 2nd week in July. Will be buying tickets for me and mine at end of month, so I will have definite date by then. At this rate, the only things I am sure of is that it is going to be in July and it is going to be on a Friday because of possible live-streaming conflicts … LOL. Unless the new dramas don’t hold my interest.
Scheduling stuff has gotten very complicated. For example, I had therapy sessions that were scheduled for months but because of QIHM, I had to cancel one of my appointments a few weeks ago… as it clashed. Then my work interfered with my live-streaming … so I ended up watching dramas at work … when I am on my breakfast break … LOL. And I am trying to make sure that no matter what, I can leave late on Wednesdays and Thursdays as the only way to live stream QIHM is using SOLIVE, and security protocols in place at work prevents it from working. This obsession is beginning to scare.
@Joanne: Which one of your beloveds do I have my hands on? I haven’t mentioned Rain recently.
I agree with this suggestion.
History of a Salaryman will leave you grinning and shouting and a little swoony, but it will never disappoint.
City Hall!
Of those I haven’t seen Thousand Days or Salaryman. On the others I guess it depends on your mood. If you want bromance Shut Up is the way to go. If you want historical ass kicking then Return of Iljimae. Dal Ja’s and What’s up are both Noona killer romances. City Hall is a political romance. If I were picking I’d go with either Iljamae or Shut Up. Both were pretty much perfect dramas IMO.
I loved Return of Iljimae hmmm but Dal-Ja’s Spring is a good lazy day drama.
My sis is watching SUFBB and she says it’s GOOD. Ahh i’m not helping…crap. Okay.
Dal-Ja’s Spring then SUFBB/City Hall/Return of Iljimae.
Honestly you can’t go wrong with any of the choices above, imo.
return of iljimae knocked my socks off! I loved it. I think you should watch that one with salaryman breaks. I think that’s more or less how I watched it.
city hall is subbed in a bare bones way which takes most of the story away from the story. You’ll need recaps while watching it but it’s a grown up romance.
what’s up fox and dal ja’s spring have similar storylines I’m not sure which is better but I like dal ja’s ending better.
Thousand Day promise will smash your heart and then short change you. The protagonist is a practical sort of person so there’s no true romance from her or about her illness. I’ve been thinking slightly about the point of this drama. There are some very good moments, very good character insights, and it is really very sad but the heroine isn’t pitying herself.
TiaC~
I’ve seen City Hall and HOTS. Either one is worthy of a marthon
Only one? Make it City Hall then!
If you’d ask for a second one, I would pick Dal-ja’s Spring.
I would recommend History of the Salaryman and City Hall. I haven’t seen the others but I have heard GREAT things about Shut Up FBB. Thousand Days’ Promise I have heard some good things especially about Soo Ae but that it is depressing.
Well, now they all sound awesome! But given what everyone has been saying, I think I’m going to down a whole bunch of coffee and attempt a weekend (which will probably stretch into two or three) of SUFBB/Return/City Hall so I get a (relatively) healthy mix of bromance, action and romance with a lot of pretty throughout.
And thanks for the advice everyone!
Good choices. And 3 in long weekend is definitely doable.
Return of Iljimae is definitely great. I have yet to finish salaryman but liked it up to episode 9..just have to get over all that businessy stuff. If you haven’t seen Syndrome, i would highly recommend that. I think I’m going to spend my weekend either rewatching flower boy ramyun shup of finally watching “me too, flower.” Will see. Happy viewing though.
This is a NO BRAINER weekend, then go for the PIE PIE PIE!
What’s Up Fox is fabulous and you will fall in love with the adorable Chung Myung Jung, or something like that!
What’s Up Fox
What’s Up Fox
Three votes for WUF from me!
Morning, OTers! I’ve been lurking for a few weeks because I moved back to the States and I’m on limited internet. Which means I can’t use my torrents/drama withdrawal. My daily cheat has been…Queen In-hyun’s Man. No regrets.
But while I was keeping myself away from K2H until torrents came back, I thought I would glance – JUST GLANCE – at the pictures in the Ep 19 recap. And THAT is why you never even click on the link unless you’ve finished the ep or don’t intend to watch at all. I was so disheartened by what I saw, I don’t even want to finish the series, I will just live in happy episode 5-6 land forever. Booey.
Hope everyone is doing well this summer.
Dont give up on K2H. It is very well written. The low points are only few, while the high points…. just look at the comments sections of any episode. that should speak for itself
This drama’s experience for me was completed after reading the recaps and thought-provoking comments. I wanted to quote two which highlighted SK’s death and the role he played in JaeHa’s growth.

LOVED Ep 20!!
According to us viewers killing SK served as a moot point (Ep 19) since at that point BG had already been arrested but when taken in consideration from BG’s POV it killed two birds with one stone.
By killing SK BG accomplished two things: a) he got back at SK for his betrayal (yeah, whatever!!)
b) SK was the ULTIMATE representative of JH’s saram. He embodied all things good, loyal, upright, etc. A person that BG would always yearn for but would be unable to foresee the reason why he’d never have a confidante like SK supporting him. Prior to getting arrested this was the best way to cut down JH and he did!! JH’s reaction on SK getting shot was too raw and guttural. He found a brother in an unexpected place and sought strength from him at many instances. In epi 10 when SK pledged allegiance to JH the latter questioned his hyung’s portrait as to what was wrong with SK. At that point JH himself didn’t realize his worth as a formidable king-in-the making that SK had seen glimpses of behind his facade.
After watching Ep 20 I have made my peace with the writers killing SK. If not for him dying JH would still be dependent on his right hand man. Nothing wrong with it per se but would that make him the highly respectable king who would rise to the occasion without his emotions and relationships getting the best of him? Not sure. While we got our OTP together with an adorable kid in tow is it an easy ride for them now than 4 years ago? No. They still have to struggle with inane stuff like their child’s N.K’ean accent and further more aggravating discussions in the two countries.
38.5 rearwindow May 25th, 2012 at 12:59 am
I also love that Jae-ha called on memories of those who have believed in him, who have challenged him, and who he has lost in order to get the strength to take that stand (I’m referring to the flashbacks he has when he’s alone in his bedroom, mulling over what move to make next).
Shi-kyung, Jae-kang, and Hang-ah are now a part of him. They give him the strength to hold it together when he feels he might lose everything. Jae-ha has matured to a place where the power he gets from the people can never be taken away from him. Bong-gu can NEVER beat him, since the love that Jae-ha shares with those around him is not bound by mortality.
Well, that spoiler was what I saw when I “glanced” at the recap for 19, and wished I hadn’t. Now when I watch the in-between episodes, I will be sad, sad, sad, everytime he’s on screen.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to post twice.
Don’t give up on TK2H… Yes it’s gonna be a rollercoaster ride, and people will die… But it’s really one of the best dramas of this year. I will not trade this viewing experience with anything else.
Good morning Cabbage, and welcome back to the US. I just wanted to thank you for not spoiling those of us who have not seen episodes 19 and 20 of TK2hs yet. I appreciate that.
Good morning Cabbage, and welcome back to the US. I just wanted to thank you for not spoiling those of us who have not seen episodes 19 and 20 of TK2hs yet. I appreciate that. I agree with your comment about not opening links to a particular episode or show if you don’t want to know what happened. I learned that the hard way as well.
For the funny Salaryman .For the they are so good together City Hall. If you want to go back to remembering how it was like being young FBB.
They are all good it’s just what sort of mood you’re in.
Hey all! Happy long weekends.
Finished K2H despite having a paper to write (le sigh). I really need to jump on these revisions but I look at it and it’s so daunting. The situations I put myself into, seriously. I’m a okay writer but I want to be better so I get an internship and now I have to drag myself to do the work. Ugh, it’s like tough love for self.
Okay back to drama land. So am I the only one who felt bittersweet at the ending of K2H? It could be because it’s over but I think that most of it is cause it just felt that Kim Bong Gu’s punishment was just eh. I’m mean with all the crap that man did I wanted him to get gangrene in jail and have his leg fall off after a ridiculously painful infection period. I understand that it’s realistic but I know that I would have been happier if SK was there. Even though he made an appearance in the end. Alas, it still was a wonderful ride.
QIHM, Shut up the Boy Band, Rooftop Prince, Here I come…. after I finish these edits of course.
I know how it feels with papers. I’m totally procrastinating on mine right now to surf around DB.
And QIM WILL NOT disappoint…I can’t think of when a drama has made me feel so damn good.
I hope I remember this correctly: Topper mentioned in the recap thread that people who’ve committed genocides etc…the most they are convicted of is lifetime imprisonment. So, I am glad he was put behind bars for life.
Also, nothing is worse for a megalomaniacal lunatic like BG than nobody to acknowledge his existence. When he contd with his rant about the continued presence of Club M but operating under another name…JH just walked off and didn’t pay heed to his threats. This musta irked him even more that he couldn’t get a satisfactory reaction from JH.
Hi all!
I have been lurking on this site for a while and this will be my first post. I just finished watching K2H, FK, and RTP. 2 out of 3 dramas with good endings is pretty good. Now it leaves me with more time to rewatch QIHM ep 11 & 12 raw until it gets subbed next week. I am giving myself a new drama break because I went a little overboard trying to watch four dramas that were not complete. I went crazy looking for recaps and for subs. Its not a good thing when I should be doing homework instead.
QIHM will probably come out this weekend (if not by today). Episode 11 is 94.5% subbed by Darksmurfs as now.
Happy OT everybody!
Man yesterday was tough. Well, at least I’ll have QIHM! SPOILER: I saw the preview for 9 yesterday and I’m just sad as all get out. How can she date Dong Min!? Even if Boong Do remembers and finds a way back she can’t just breakup willy nilly. It would be anit-fan pandemonium! END SPOILER. Please don’t make me cry show. I have no tears left.
Even the most angst-ridden episodes of QIHM is not as angst-ridden as those on RTP and K2H … it is truly angst with a comedic bent, so you don’t have any thing to worry about.
Someone on Soompi pointed out that as much as we love the show, there is actually very little screen time for the OTP in most episodes (think they said 10 minutes or less for most episodes) … and I realize that they were right.
That is truly a sign of great writing and pacing because I did not even realize it until it was pointed out … and still have smile on my face for every episode that I have seen (up to 12 raw and 10 subbed).
Hey has anyone watched Soul? I came across it the other day and watched the first episode. I loved the heroine in WR. She was a cute eccentric who made man robot sweat lol. I’m not sure though if I should stick with it. Any suggestions?
Legal High is hilarious! I can’t wait to watch episode 6. I can just tell I’m gonna bust a gut.
Can’t wait for Gentleman’s Dignity and TS Dr. Jin this weekend! I’m kind of looking forward to wet towel. I don’t know why but I’m curious to see if he improved. I seemed sincere in his comment to improve himself acting wise.
Loved Soul. Watch it.
happy friday… what a great week with 3 drama wrapping up with a great ending.. keep fighting!!!!
Greetings My Wondrous Beans!
K2H. Small issues but overall…you were good enough that I could even find a way to accept the death of uri EarnestBot. Although I’m still choking up over it. In case you don’t realize it, Show, that you means you were UNF-believably good, and I sarang you forever and ever, and I want Lee Seung Gi and Ha Ji Won to fall in love and make many many beautiful babies. NOW.
QIHM. Oh you adorable OTP. This is like eating a box of delicious chocolates and then finding out it’s actually GOOD for you. If you aren’t watching this, you should change that situation as quickly as possible.
Mr. Idol. I watched this because I ran out of episodes of QIHM and I need more Bong Do. Such an odd, sweet movie. I would happily re-watch with Movie Noonas.
Equator Man. I’m coming for you, Show. Watch out.
Meteor Garden II. I need a few days distance between losing ShiKyung and watching the original Pretty Pretty Pantene Hair fall for the wrong girl. G-D amnesia.
Material Queen. You are still full of cuteness and Vanness, since I’m only on ep 7. So I still really like you.
Kiddo turns 19 before next OT. Gah. Shortly after, she leaves for Bonnaroo, then comes home for a bit, then we go to NYC, then she leaves for Oregon and I leave for Maine. Summer has begun!
Annyong!!
Couldn’t agree more about Seung-gi and HJW. These two positively sizzled onscreen. They didn’t have a lot of skinship throughout the series (they were apart more than they were together) but the limited skinship they did have they burned my screen!! I squeaked and spazzed not only at their chemistry but also the multi-faceted nature of their OTP’s relationship!
Seung-gi ya you mentioned unnie’s your ideal type….just throw caution to the wind and ask her out!! I’m thinking she likes you as well what with her admission that she’d cry just by looking into your eyes. Quite an admission if you ask me!!
This elicited quite a few sighs and tears. Ah-Ha=<3!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKh6o9eGcG8
Thanks for that link, Saima. Just gorgeous! Love this couple and their story. All they went through and overcame eventually made them stronger, separately and together.
And good day, DBeaners! I’ve enjoyed OT for sometime now, but this is my first post on it. Thanks for all the laughs and love!
yay for delurking!! <3
You are right… Lee Seung Gi and Ha Ji Won were burning up that screen when together. That was perfect casting … even if Seung Gi wasn’t first choice.
Seems odd now that he wasn’t, but I can imagine him hiking up his pants the night before, staring at himself in the mirror and having a really serious pep-talk for one where he promises himself that he will show EVERYONE he can be taken seriously as an actor, that just because he wasn’t their first pick didn’t mean he wasn’t the RIGHT pick. That this is his FATE. That he can’t EMBARRASS HIMSELF IN FRONT OF THAT GODDESS.
And then every day, he just flowed. Once he hit that groove, man, there was no stopping PuppyChona. He OWNED it. He was man enough for Ha Ji Won, and that is a lot of man. It probably didn’t hurt that he had Jo Jung Seok, who, while not an UNKNOWN in Korea was still relatively untested on film – but that man is a BEAST, is he not? Think of the variety of roles he’s had in just his short resume, and he is perfect in each. I hope, I hope, I really hope that ShiKyung is not his shining achievement. I want to watch him bring more incredible people to life, for years and years to come.
Seung-gi:
I’d like to thank all the actors who were previously offered his role for declining. hahaa. He’s received a lot of love from the PD and fellow actors (veteran included). He’s being continually lauded for his nuanced, effective, and emotional portrayal of Jae-Ha. Reports are pouring in that he’s receiving love calls from movie makers. Makes my ‘lil fangirl heart SO happy for him.
JJS is going places as well and deservedly so:
He’s signed on to do a movie next. yayyyy
““Rank of Steel Saving the Country” is a movie directed by director Yook Sang-Hyo who also directed “He’s On Duty”. The movie is a comedy film based on the 1985 incident where students occupied the U.S. Cultural Center in Seoul. The movie is starring by Kim In-Kwon, You Da-In, Jo Jung Suk and others.”
cr: osen
Since you luff him:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UdS6kfowRw&feature=related –> playing a character who’s a drag queen. Did I mention that he’s awesome?! =)
http://ripgal.wordpress.com/2012/05/21/im-joining-the-jo-jung-seok-fandom-too/#more-4559
Cannot wait to watch Intro to Architecture subbed!!
@Saima and Joanne: I totally agree. I really cannot imagine anyone else in that role. Lee Seung Gi … I am now a fan.
@JoAnne
I love your comment so much! I totally can picture Seung Gi doing just that!
RTP is over. Me, happy-sad. Mostly sad. Coz I was wishing… *sigh* for some Time Traveler’s Wife kind of twist in the story, but that would be insane.
Anyway, I’m bracing up for my next drama addiction: Queen In Hyun’s Man. I’m downloading the episodes and is quite eager to start watching. I hope this drama will leave me a happier viewer than RTP did at the finale.
(My return to kdrama addiction is making me miss Korea SO much! Scenes of where I’ve been keep popping in my head and it’s driving me cwayyyzie!)
omg. So many dramas have concluded this week and I have a couple of them on my viewing queue too: K2H and Love Rain. I hope I get to finish these while I’m watching QIHM. (And there goes my plan of watching 1 drama at a time. So much with addiction management.) I’m not that giddy about I Do, I Do, but that was how I felt about Scent of a Woman last year and the drama got me hooked. So we’ll see…
All week, I juggled work reports, RTP, iPhone games, and reading A Game of Thrones. My eyes hurt and my mind is a mess. Whenever I close my eyes, I either see Yoochun, longswords, or Excel tables. And I’m simultaneously in love with Yi Gak and Jon Snow. Go figure! Maybe it’s a blessing that I haven’t started with QIHM yet, since I would’ve had to make room for Boong Do in the cramped space for fictional loves in my head. (I would’ve said ‘heart’ but that would be corny.)
Oh, and Big. Gong Yoo. Soon! (Violins.)
Happy Weekend, chingus!
Oh, and Thank You! again to whoever made and contributed the LDW shower-brooding DB header. Made my day.
As the banner says, you’re welcome!
Lord, the only connection between Scent of a Woman and I Do, I Do is Kim Sun Ah, right? Because I went into Scent of a Woman, knowing that I would be crying in a lot of episodes, because and only because Kim Sun Ah was in it. I really could not stand if I Do, I Do is like SOAR (once a decade is too soon for me, even though it had a nice ending … also the reason why I refuse to watch Thousand Day Promise even though Kim Rae Won is my favorite actor).
I hope for it too! And I have faith that IDID will stay more on the rom-com path a la Kim Samsoon. (And so, all I can come up with are KSA dramas. Really, self. How nice.)
Last year’s Secret Garden – 49 Days – Scent of A Woman is the crying trifecta for me, which is one of the factors that led me to the 2011 drama drought. And the RTP made me cry a bit. So I, too, cannot handle any more shedding of tears in the immediate future. (QIHM, please do me this favor: keep the ‘happy.’)
*is
WAS. >.<
I was like IDID? Then, “oh, it’s I Do I Do.” So… I do, I do = I did.
/gives Iz soju and whipping cream for the crying times.
omg. Yi Gak. :_(
I’m not reading any of the posts yet since I’m scared of spoilers…
I just finished watching ep 19 of Rooftop Prince and my tears haven’t dried yet :’(
hope everyone is having a great Friday!
Hola OT’ers! Hope everyone has a great weekend! It’s a long weekend so I am planning on doing a whole lot of nothing! It will be amazing!
This is really random but I had a CRAZY dream about A Gentleman’s Dignity and it hasn’t even started airing. Clearly, my sub-conscious is really excited about this show!
I almost forgot about Gentleman. Is it starting next week too?
How could I forget about Jang Dong Gun?
id: Getting over-giddy about Gong Yoo’s “Big!” That’s how!
Heh! Big…
ego: Hey, careful with the “Big.”
superego: Remember – decency. Morals.
id: Nobody questions the morals of the kdrama addict!
I am pretty sure it is starting this weekend. Both Gentleman’s dignity and Dr. Jin are on iOnAir’s close captioning schedule. Will give them a try as I don’t have anything scheduled for weekends… LOL.
My drama-viewing queue threatens to grow. *sigh* I think I’m gonna wait for reviews of the first couple eps for GD and DJ before I decide to watch. I can only cram so much dramas in my vacant time. @.@ Gone are the days when I can juggle at least 3 dramas at a time.
@Izzie: I loved the first episode of Gentleman’s Dignity… laugh out loud funny.
Did not like Dr. Jin so much but I will give it another try.
I read JB’s recap of Dr. Jin and decided not to watch anymore. I found the story setup to be unexciting. I thought of following by recaps, but it seems JB’s no longer interested to push through with it.
I’m still waiting for Gentleman’s Dignity to be available for download.
Thanks for the heads-up, Hillary!
I just watched the last episode of the Japanese version of Jin on mysoju (actually last episode of 2nd season of Jin) … and decided that it is definitely not my cup of tea.
I browsed through the recap of Gentleman’s Dignity (argh! no download links available yet!) and I liked it. I tried not to read as much coz I want to watch it.
The whole thing reminds me of The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry. Heheh.
Goodness! How is it possible that the srt are already available for the pilot episode, and yet I still can’t find the video to download? *sigh*
Eeeeeee!!! Found a download link for GD!
Oh, happy day!
LOL! Y’know I wasn’t going to watch Big but then I saw the pic of Gong Yoo…shirtless…with his bulging muscles…and the tattoo on his hip bone………………………………..and i just lost my train of thought
@.@
………………………………………..
oh, yes? You were saying?
Stopping in to see my chingus!
Hello chingus!
Brief reviews with my favortie quotes from around the internet. Some of them are ripped straight from the comments at Viki
FOTG – “I waited 32 episodes and I don’t even get a KISS? Not even a HUG?”
FK – “Some people say that a surprise ending is good because you don’t see it coming. Well if a bird shizits in your mouth you don’t see it coming. That doesn’t make it good.” (I LOL’ed for 10 mins after reading that.)
K2H – “Didn’t care about anything after ep 19. HATE YOU WRITERS!”
QIHM – I didn’t know why I was born into this world until I met Kim Boong Du. His smile makes the coffee hotter, the chocolate sweeter, and my heart beat faster.
My every waking moment is filled with thoughts of JHW. He’s MINE MINE MINE. I will never let him go. We all talk about the line, right?
The line starts behind ME ME ME ME ME ME ME!
Mystisith – He’s going to FRANCE! You can meet him at Notre Dame!
Who’s coming here? The actor JHW or the character KBD? Wait, who cares? I’ll take the first one who lands here. And i know a lot of places where you can hide at Notre-Dame. You’ll never find us people… Hehehe.
The Fashion King comment is excellent btw. I guess we have another writer blacklisted in dramaland…
The character says he wants to go to Prance.
What he meant was, he wanted to go to YOUR HOUSE.
He is absolutely welcome any day. Come here Mr, I have tons of books for you…
Of course, when he goes back to Joseon we will have to part the correct way…
*Farewell kiss*
I hear that holding a tv remote is a signal that you want to have a proper and appropriate greeting.
** imagines all the fangirls approaching JHW with remote in hand **
*Hundreds of fangirls with TV remote in hand*. That could give an interesting but quite scary flash-mob in SK.
Did you see that HJ wanted BD to buy square at the grocery store? CARRE
So cute!
Crack me up Jomo!
Heh, I was almost jealous!
Until I remembered BD said he wanted to go to pi-ren-je (Firenze/Florence), not peu-rang-seu.
LOL!!!!!
Except the writer’s part, I were one.
Just the K2H writers, not the LW writer.
lulz at those quotes!! Esp, FK!! btw, was this drama deemed a melo?
And, FOTG?
Feast of the Gods, what?
Did you like the end?
I was pretty happy with how that drama stopped.
I don’t think it actually “ended” as there were many loose ends to clear up, and WHAT ABOUT A KISS FOR THE SEXIEST FREAKING MAN OUT THERE RIGHT NOW?
I hold my breath every time he comes on screen.
Lee Sang Woo, sigh.
I think that is why I love JHW so much. They are similar in height and smiling skills.
If they end QIHM with that stupid face to face/smile that doesn’t explain anything, i will eat my comp. FOTG, Rooftop Prince…
Fan service kiss should be mandatory.
I think that this plot is too confusing for them to leave it open. They have been doing such a good job explaining the cussions and repercussions of every action.
I think they will HAVE to spell it out for us.
That is why I think they will end up on vacation in Prance!
Hey Jomo!
I’m not around so much lately, and I gather it’s the same for you. Hope you’re well
“Vacation in Prance?” Are you using a little Konglish, or am I confused?
Hello!
Doing well. You too?
Yes, I am not around much either.
I love Boong Du’s Konglish, and this was his Konch.
Krench? Korench?
OK I love BD’s anything. Remember when I would palpitate for CSW? This is 10 times worse (or better.)
Not only does he know how to kiss, he does it often and boldly…
Jomo –
Really, this Boong-do (haven’t seen the drama… what’s the dude’s name?) must be something out of this world, if he surpasses uri CSW. Better kisses than those of Seung-won-sshi? Really? I have GOT to see this
In real life, I have a great new love (Thai kickboxing — SO fantastic), alongside the old demons I continue to struggle with.
Miss you!
Ji Hyun Woo
He is tall, and has crooked teeth, and good hair, really nice lips and an unbelievable amount of charisma. Some folks say he reminds them of Rain.
http://tinyurl.com/7rewkyh
Joonni has a page for him with interviews and vids:
http://joonni.com/2012/05/12/ji-hyun-woo-singer-and-actor/
You absolutely do NOT fall in love with him at first sight.
But he grows on you like moss in a moss factory. You can’t shake him off, and suddenly, you are head over heels in love.
He has that effect in most of his dramas, even the really bad ones. This is one of his most positive roles and he is hitting it out of the park.
@Sethe: If you check out my link at 9, there is a compilation of his kiss scenes from QIHM. And those are the actual kiss scenes. Someone needs to make a video of his skinship scenes (those are almost as fabulous as his kiss scenes). This OTP just makes me smile.
When I read “vacation in Prance” I had this sudden mental image of JHW prancing around. >_<
I didn’t know what drama FOTG was. heh.
I’m afraid I just have been rabidly obsessed with TK2H (to even know much about other dramas) the past 6 weeks. It was a sobfest yday in my house thinking I wouldn’t be seeing my favourite characters return, marathoning the series again, or watching anything else.
Will be taking a much needed break from K-dramas before I watch QIHM. And, JHW has the perfect toothy smile. =)
Yeah, his smile is so prefect because it’s actually imperfect. Actually good to know that at least one actor (Lee MinKi is the other) has his own teeth and not some freakingly white and even veneers – at the tender age of 21…
And a little treat to all amateurs of toothy smile (nothing to do with kdrama )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_N9iDR7ans
@kopytko,
Sigh, I think Lee Min-ki got veneers. If you look at the Nell video for The Day Before, his teeth are way too perfect. I miss his original teeth! Particularly the sharp right canine that made him look slightly vampiric. They made him look real. Now he’s too perfect.
Will Work For Soju, you’re kidding me! I thought he was above that shallow quasi-perfectionism. I have to sigh with you. SIGH
LOLed at the FK comment. Winner!
I planned to watch FK coz of YAI, but the reviews are discouraging me. And this comment sealed the decision: not to watch. I know I could watch YAI stare on empty space, but something (or someone) else is vying for my time – Boong Du.
I didn’t know why I was born into this world until I met Kim Boong Du. His smile makes the coffee hotter, the chocolate sweeter, and my heart beat faster.
Okay, good luck with my efforts of avoiding the QIHM recaps – I have already failed once and I instantly had a crush on Boong Du. But I stopped it right there and then since I was still all about RTP. I’m counting on my self-control to hold until I’ve downloaded the eps until the latest one that aired. I’m still downloading episode 3 and my sources aren’t making it easy for me with the on-again-off-again links. Just a little more; and then 2012 Addiction #2, here we go!
Good choice! The subs are coming faster now, too.
I have about 4 different d/l sites for QIHM just to try to get one watchable version, but once I get one, I wear it out watching and re-watching and re-watching.
I wrote a while ago that THIS is going to be the best show I will ever see, and THIS time, I think the writers will come through.
My best d/l site was closed down last month, but good thing I was able to find its back up site. And to my delight, it has QIHM. But the links haven’t been the same as they were in the original site – unstable.
I wear it out watching and re-watching and re-watching
With RTP, I often paused the frame just to gaze at Yi Gak. Is this a taste of what’s to come with QIHM’s Boong Du? Uh-oh.
Gosh, your comments on QIHM aren’t making it easy for my self-control. Opening episode 1 is just SO tempting right now. I have to have a firm resolve lest I forget sleep.
One and two are cute and cool, but once you get to 3, there is no turning back.
Do a search and find on the QIHM ep 7 recap for my post about where to download. If you squint, you can avoid spoilers from the other comments.
I checked ‘em out. (I had to gasp first at the Boong-du in ninja suit photo. And resist reading.)
I’ve been getting most of my dramas from reencoded (formerly mqlinks), but I think I’ll have to get a dramaload account.
Thanks for the links!
d/l of ep. 3 complete. Next!
Hello Jomo,
I’m having a hard time finding the subs. Could you please share where you are finding them?
Which one has the best subs? I’m loving this show and JHW. I’m glad he took this role. It seems to be perfect for him. I hope he gets to continue to pick roles that continue to show his great talent. I have not really liked his other shows. I read somewhere that this was the first show he chose himself. I could be wrong. I’m not sure what he meant.
I’m sure the ending of this drama will be sad only because it was so good I will not want it to be over. I’m certain they will do a great job with the ending. So far they have been very careful with every detail of the show. And those kisses… sigh! Just the conversations are fun to watch.
On a side, unrelated note: has anyone noticed how the Dramabeans site seems to have increased in users? Everytime I join the site now and read how many “current users #” they are always high numbers. Once there were over 1,000+. I think that is so cool. I love this site. I don’t think I would enjoy QIHM as much without the recaps here.
DSS has them up to 11 with 12 coming out soon
http://www.darksmurfsub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/4563-queen-in-hyeons-man-2012/
There is a link on this page that once you get, you can skip all the ad business
http://kr-drama.blogspot.com/2012/04/tvn-2012-queen-inhyuns-man-raw-e6-sub_08.html
They update the download list as they get subs.
This is a cool place because they supply more than one version of both the files and subs.
@Jomo,
Thank you for the info
Does anyone else want to see k-drama crossovers? Like for example if Bridal Mask were to be frozen and somehow woken up in modern times only to meet up with the City Hunter.
like Captain America style? Hmmm, two masked avengers whose civilian identities strut around in suits. Not sure what Bridal Mask would fight against in modern day Seoul though.
Or are you thinking of an Avenger’s style kdrama hero mashup? Possible scenario:
Boong Do from QIHM somehow figures out how to control time travel (even more, that is) and accidentally jumps to the dystopian city in OCN’s Hero. There he meets up with superserum’ed Kim Heuk Chul and the two decide to avert dystopia. They then recruit Bridal Mask and jump to modern Seoul, where the City Hunter is fighting corruption. Then as a mysterious wave of killings break out, everyone is introduced to Mr. Vampire Prosecutor. All this is missing is a kdrama version of Black Widow.
Wait I know! Boong Do figures out time travelling after a strange encounter with Seo Yoon-yi and the Shin-muh-wai (from Joseon X-files). And meanwhile, Cha Yeo-jin aka Girl K has returned to modern Seoul after some adventures abroad. That should be enough crossovers to satisfy anyone.
OMG I love QIHM . First saw the recommendation on OT and couldn’t stop watching . After the disaster of FK ,and killing off my favorite character in K2H , I was totally depressed. Thank the drama powers that be for renewing my faith in K drama. Can’t say enough good things about the story. How are the ratings in Korea ? Is it a cable station that is airing it? Is there any way to send positive comments to the station or writers? I have complained so much on dramafever about FK that I would like to send something positive out to the broadcasting station in Korea. Do they realize how many people watch their shows on line? I just wonder do the same shows appeal in country as they do on the internet?
QIHM is aired on tvN, a cable station which is going bigger and bigger.
They have a FB account where you can let messages in English.

The show is doing a lot of noise on the Net and the ratings are good. Youpi!!!
So awesome!! I think their TVing (a Korean streaming site) ratings are pretty decent as well!!
Just dropped by to say hi.
I know most of us are still in mourning over Shi Kyung. /passes around the soju bottle. Oh, and the whipped cream.
Hi fellow DB’ers it’s been a couple of months since I last participated or even peeked in on OT and I missed everyone!!
anyways it’s been a great 10 weeks of RTP and K2H and though there were bumps in both that sometimes inturrepted the flow of the story, especially in RTP with all that mumbo jumbo chaebol inheritance story which I found myself continuously skipping, and the ridiculous US politics portrayed by non-native english speakers with incredibly wooden acting in K2H, even through all that I found that I loved all of the characters enough to stick through it…
I’ve got to say though that K2H killed the most lovely part of it and I was really shocked, I was SOBBING when he died and I couldn’t watch the rest of it right away I had to wait a couple of hours before I could finish episode 19. I know that maybe they were showing how war is indiscriminate and there is senseless killing during it, but killing Earnest Bot was not something I was expecting. I also don’t watch dramas because of the realism! it’s my escapist desires that drive me to watch them!! And if they were going to kill him I wanted it to be meaningful not just because they could!!! I was so happy right before his death because I thought the hard part was over and i was looking forward to cute times and then the celebratory period was cut short, and the cute times I anticipated are never going to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope somebody writes a fanfic making a happy ending with Earnest Bot, because I feel cheated in regards to him!
Hi Everybody!
What a day – it’s past 11 pm here and I feel really tired and little angry that I couldn’t have a look at OT earlier. So I’m lying with my laptop and listening to the cheesiest music I can imagine – think of Polish trot – just like I do every Friday. For some reason it’s the most relaxing thing I can think of. Maybe it reminds me not to take life too seriously?
Now, FOTG ended. I didn’t really like the ending. The nasty evil sister ends being all smiley and liked, the heroine, although talented, ends up with a less rewarding job, doing some stupid things (like going to China to protest against changing Korean recipes by the local manufacturers – pffft). Not to mention that she chooses a guy with whom she had really poor chemistry onscreen. Her silly daddy was right – the other “son-in-law” was much better…
As for the K2H and RTP – I dropped them both and didn’t care much about the respective endings. I just hope QIHM won’t get awry
Waiting for Ghost I watched “Always/Only You” and I still can’t help but like So Ji Sub. I don’t think it is ONLY because he’s one fine man, because there are plenty other handsome men to look at. For some reason, I never get cynical when watching SJS, I feel compassion to his characters. Just like when I watched Kim Rae Won in Sunflower/Haebaragi – how can anybody not feel for the poor guy?
On the other hand, although I love comedies (not necessarily romantic, I want them to be funny), I am not interested in any upcoming title. I know Hong Sisters are great, but the body-switching premise and the actors don’t make me giddy. I hope they can surprise me nicely.
I also like Kim SunAh, but fashion-themed dramas are a definite miss in my eyes. Moreover, there is a trend to present career women in a stereotypical way. It is a bit repulsive to me.
As a JaeJoong fan I think I could watch Dr Jin, but I have never enjoyed a sageuk series. Plus I don’t think the role suits him, so that he can show what he can do best (acting-wise) – light irony and subtle humour.
Queen In-hyun’s Man. Kim Boong-do. Episode 11 tip-toe kiss. *fans self*
When will the subs come out? (*in a small voice* err when will the recaps come out?) I’ve been replaying the last 2 episodes since wednesday and tweeting madly on how much I’m crazy about it. And now that some good soul has cut and posted that kiss on YT, I’ve downloaded that and transferred to my mobile devices so I can watch it anytime, anywhere.
If only all Joseon scholars could kiss like that. That’s the hottest kiss on a kdrama I’ve watched in recent memory so far. Or if there was any other hot kiss out there, it has been completely forgotten. Every time I watch that, I wanna find a tall guy and climb him, hahaha. I don’t know how many times I’ve fanned myself after watching it. If I had a boyfriend he’d definitely be the lucky recipient of my Boong-do-inspired affections.
Now, I’m really confused. Moon Jae-shin or Kim Boong-do? I hope I won’t find LMH as hot in Faith or else I’ll have to choose…all three of ‘em. Why choose when you can have everyone, right?
I just love everything about that drama. Writing, directing, actors. tvN is definitely my favorite channel. Hope they continue with the wonderful varied dramas they come out with.
Drama gods, subs please!
Recaps to 12 here
http://joonni.com/
And here
http://maymaywatch.blogspot.com/
Also, Joonni just posted a fanvid of even more skinship than the one I posted before. It used Avril Lagivne’s version of “Kiss Me” (I think).
Thank you so much Hillary!
Am floating on drama ether. Rooftop Prince had a great finale. I actually got weepy. I always liked Bu-Yong, especially kid Bu-Yong. Heck, kid Park Ha was adorable too. The Joseon sections had such nobility. I’ll admit it: I’m a royalist all the way. The title “your majesty” just gets me all a-flutter.
Then I caught up on all the episodes of Syndrome. And I got all weepy as well. I love that drama. And the ending just had me weeping for the villain. Never thought I would. And interestingly, that is one of the only k-dramas where I was totally unsure who the girl (doc-in-training) would end up with. I really liked that. Usually, I get annoyed at the predictablity of these triangles.
Liking Legal High as well. And the locked door mystery. Don’t know how many more episodes of those left. I generally like Japanese comedy dramas way better than their drama dramas. WIshing to catch up on Switch GIrl.
Also finished off 21st Century Family, a very sweet, gently humorous k-drama. Just very pleasant and funny and basic family life with annoying older dad and his hottie young wife family next door stuff. I didn’t know it was going to end at 8 episodes so I was surprised. It felt light but it was sweet.
Now all I have to do is wait for Queen In-Hyeon’s Man to end, but I so don’t want that one to end. Not since Return to Iljimae have I gotten so into a sageuk. I feel I’ve returned to my sageuk roots. Thanks for all your recaps.
This is a bit weird for me. I was sitting in front my computer, and suddenly I felt a wave of longing come upon me.
You know the feeling that you get about your boyfriend when you have just broken up with him? You miss him. Only you know that you have broken up and that there is nothing to do but reminisce about the good times. So, this wave of nostalgia/ longing came upon me and I felt very sad.
Well, the thing is – I was feeling this way about K2H!!! Talk about going crazy!
Is this normal? Do I have to get myself checked out?
oh you poor dear. I’ve been there and nothing anyone says will make that longing go away. (except a new drama ofcourse.)
You know what i do? If I can’t find a new drama that I like , I re-watch the old episodes. And then i go to youtube and watch every MV ever made on that drama.
That will help with the pain.
Best of luck with your recovery.
aww!! We’re sailing in the same boat with fellow hearties who went cray cray for this drama! This show made me comment like a maniacal fangirl on the recap threads where we’d tease apart the layers of the characters, pick at each other’s brains, and educate e/o with the Korean cultural details that were interspersed within the drama. In hindsight, this worsened my fangirling since I realized just how rich & precious this show was.
I cannot even listen to the OST and think about marathoning the series without getting teary-eyed!! Yes, it’s THAT bad. I will say I’ve been watching 1n2d Season 1 and Running Man to dull the separation from this very dear friend.
Perhaps a comedy variety show or drama will work for you?
Good Luck (to the both of us)!! <3
I’ve been watching S2 of invincible youth and Ji Hyun Woo is just the most adorably awkward team captain ever. I love him and all but he really should just stick to acting lol.
Anyway, can anyone find any behind the scenes for QIHM? I really wanna see how their chemistry is in real life. Thank you in advance!
Bloated. I’m Bloated. For lunch, I feasted on Korean dishes (2 servings of samgyupsal, 1 big plate of pajeon, 1 big bowl of galbitang, and 3 bowls of bibimbap) with my friends, ate a box of munchkin donuts with them a bit later, and then swilled a tall cup of iced wintermelon tea. Four hours later, my tummy still feels like a bowling ball’s stuck inside and my guilt’s the size of Texas.
Tonight, I’m downloading the 4th episode of QIHM and is on the rush to get to the latest ep and marathon before Big pilots next Monday. I can’t afford having a drama backlog since K2H is also in my viewing queue, and I Do, I Do seems promising.
I plan to start watching QIHM tonight to minimize possible viewing backlog, but the problem is I feel very sleepy from my k-food binge. Ottoke?
Hmm. Oh, right. Coffee.
Izzie! <3 I miss bibimbap :'( Sounds like you had a real food trip!
Hey, Laya!
Food Trip? True. While I haven’t fully digested everything I ate earlier this afternoon, I’m craving again for something to eat.
I feel like I’ve been programmed sub-consciously by RTP’s omurice to feed more and more. I wonder what the next dramas I’m about to watch are gonna do to me. If this goes on, I might end up with lack of sleep, over-stuffed tummy, and an oversized arse – which is oversized to begin with.
Well, I am trying to make omurice.
All it takes is eggs, rice, leftover meat (chicken, ham, hotdog…), onions, garlic, bell pepper, ketchup…
Think of it this way… you’re storing up energy for those k-drama marathons
Omo! I’m hungry again.
Really.
(Gosh. Monster appetite, I have.)
Just when I’m about to start watching QIHM.
I can’t eat and read subs at the same time.
Or can I? *grins*
Dumb Questions (so be patient with me)
Dumb Question #1: In Queen In Hyeon’s Man, Dong Man says, “His name is Boong Do (Beum Do) Who has a name like that?”
Why is it such a strange name? I’m not up on Korean names.
Dumb Question #2: Episode #11: GOAL-KEEPER? GOAL? I’ll have to look at the recap to see what cultural nuance/slang I’m missing.
Thanks.
I’ll let others to provide better answers, but as a rough answer, about #1 Boong Do does not sound like a classy name in modern times (Samsoon was same). About #2, ‘even if there is a goal keeper (soccer), you still can kick the ball in’ = Even if the girl has the finance/bf, you can still win/get her.
Wow! Thanks so much. This helps me.
Is it too late to wish everyone a Happy Weekend? I hope not…
HAPPY WEEKEND OT!!
Started at a new job location this week, though I’ve been training for it off and on for the last month or so. It’s very different. I get to dress down again, but only b/c I’m sorta in the mud
Unfortunately, it means I’ve got to do some online training and such…which means no drama watching (or much of anything else that can’t be done from a smartphone) for me
Anywho, to our US OT’ers, have a safe and Happy Memorial Day as we remember those who have and do serve our nation. To our non-US OT’ers…um, Happy Weekend again? lol
Miracle of miracles…I’m still on the 1st page! (must be a slow week)
Really, I’m replying to myself to say that if anyone was at all curious about my band’s performance a couple of weeks ago you can find (really terrible) video on my blog.
Yeah, it’s a slow week, considering that a lot of dramas have concluded, which should make us discuss a lot of things. But I guess, all things have been talked about in the corresponding drama threads, so…
Hey CMR! Happy Monday, now.
I wish you luck in your job. I hope things turn out better-er.
Oh, and I hope you still find time to watch at least one drama.
Will check out your video when my internet connection improves.
Anyeong!
Thank you, Izzie Smile! And happy Monday to you as well. I’m almost done w all this work at home stuff so I should be able to catch up on the things I was watching, though I think I’ll be woefully behind 99% of Beaners
