The King 2 Hearts: Episode 16

Awwww yeah! We’re back, baby. Now THIS is the show I know and love. Bring in da stakes, bring in da tears, and let’s get down to business. Betrayal hits like a ton of bricks, but it feels like being dusted with powdered sugar compared to what’s around the bend…

EPISODE 16 RECAP

Secretary Eun sneaks away from the engagement to take a call from Bong-gu’s minion. He offers a choice: Jae-ha abdicates the throne peacefully, or he will be removed by force. Otherwise, Shi-kyung gets told about his daddy’s extracurricular misdeeds.

Uh… I’m thinking the asking price is a little low there. Sigh. Minions. Though on the flipside, Eun is the man who sold out the last king’s whereabouts for an LP, so… even stevens?

Secretary Eun tells him to go ahead and tell Shi-kyung whatever he wants to, because he is no longer going to listen to any threats from the likes of them. Well now. Look who graduated from amoeba in the final stretch. Now, would it have killed you to grow this backbone like three fatal mistakes ago?

Minion takes that as Door Number Two, and drops his voice, “There will be blood,” like he’s been waiting his whole minion life to say that line. At the same moment, Jae-ha and Hang-ah toast (With red wine? Really?) and the clink sends her glass shattering. The Wine of Portent splatters on her white dress.

She frets, but he smiles and tells her that it’ll all make for lasting memories. They walk through the crowd and wave, and then some kind soul chants, “Kiss! Kiss!” and soon the whole crowd joins in.

Jae-ha side-eyes Hang-ah, and then spins to face her, and pulls her in for a kiss. Gah, the all-the-way-around-arm-wrapping just does me in.

The parents watch with embarrassed but adorably happy smiles.

That night, Secretary Eun calls Shi-kyung out for a chat. He asks how the Anmyundo investigation is going, and Shi-kyung says he’s going to be back on the case now that the engagement is over.

Dad lets out a long contemplative sigh, and starts to say it… but can’t quite get the words out. He just says that it’ll be over soon. Shi-kyung looks at him, confused.

Dad then goes to his office and writes his resignation. It details all of his nefarious exchanges with Club M, leaving nothing out. He takes one long look at his office of over thirty years, and then walks through the memorial hall of all the kings he’s served. He stops at Jae-kang’s portrait, “Do not forgive me, your majesty.” He bows down to the ground.

Jae-ha and Hang-ah discuss her picking up some of the queen mother’s charity events… while they get a couples massage? Ha. Okay, who’s brilliant idea was it to find some way to make Seung-gi’s cheeks look even more chipmunky? Hee.

Hang-ah suggests that maybe she could go to North Korea to do some of her charity work with a big smile, and Jae-ha tells her to have a good trip to the foreign country then. Heh.

But spa time gets cut short with an email from Club M. He goes to his desk to open it, and Hang-ah urges him to ignore it. He says it’s better to see what’s coming, even if it’s coming to explode all over them, which I’m all for. Let’s see it then.

He opens the email, filled with evidence that Secretary Eun sold out the Anmyundo location. Bollocks. HE’S JUST ABOUT TO TELL YOU HIMSELF! Aaaaaugh.

No matter how much I hate Cruella de Eun, I was all for him owning up to his crimes. He was so close! But I suppose you can’t expect the universe to be on your side if you wait till you’re backed into a corner before confessing.

The email has every bit of damning evidence – call logs between Eun and Bong-gu, Eun’s signature on clearing Bong-gu to enter the country, recordings of their phone calls.

Secretary Eun knocks on Jae-ha’s door and enters the office, prepared to hand in his resignation. But he walks in to hear a recording of the very call where he gave up the Anmyundo location.

Jae-ha just stares at him, blinking in disbelief. He finally asks blankly, “What is this?” Augh it kills me that he still wants ajusshi to say he didn’t do it. He asks if there was ever a time that he purposely conveyed lies between him and Hang-ah.

He says yes. Jae-ha asks, still disbelieving, if he was the one who changed Jae-shin’s entrance music at the conference. “You didn’t, right? You didn’t go that far, Ajusshi. Right?”

Still not raising his head, he says it’s true. Jae-ha looks up at him, stricken. He says that Anmyundo, he understands—it was a mistake, and he didn’t know who he was dealing with. But the rest… the rest…

Isn’t it just a twist of the knife to know that he would’ve been forgiven if he had come clean right away? But that’s the grave you dug for yourself, old man.

A tear streams down Jae-ha’s face as he continues to plead, “You were like family. Thirty years. Father chose you. Hyung trusted you. I leaned on you more than anyone. How could that Ajusshi…”

Ajusshi hands over his resignation, which just gets a scoff from Jae-ha. Quitting again? He says he’s not asking for forgiveness, and will take every punishment. Jae-ha makes it clear that he’ll be arrested and charged for his crimes.

Secretary Eun warns him to be careful of Club M, especially right now, and Jae-ha asks bitterly why—did he give them something else? He finally lets loose, screaming at the top of his lungs: “YOU ARE A TRAITOR!” Oof.

That’s what stings the most, of course, since he’s done all this while convincing himself that it was for the greater good. Jae-ha continues: “You committed high treason! Allowed foreign invasion! Aided and abetted an enemy of the state! YOU ARE A TRAITOR!”

Secretary Eun doesn’t deny any of it, and says he will accept the punishment for all his crimes. But he asks just one thing… Shi-kyung… Aaaauf. Don’t even get me started on the heartache you’re going to cause, old man.

He bows down to the ground on his hands and knees, and pleads with Jae-ha not to tell Shi-kyung (Well that’s just absurd—how will he be kept from finding out?). He says that Shi-kyung is an honest, upright man. He IS. And idealistic and hopeful too, and you’re about to fuck with that.

He says that he’ll tell Shi-kyung himself. Oh. Okay. At least you’re going to do that. Although I don’t see why you’re going to set yourself up for another circumstance exactly like this one by waiting. But then again, you’re not historically quick on the uptake.

The palace reels from the news in every corner. Shi-kyung comes to see Jae-ha and asks if it’s true that his father was dismissed. And despite his anger, Jae-ha keeps that promise to ajusshi—he pretends that he finally had enough of their personality differences and let him go.

Jae-ha says he’s old now and their paths are different. Shi-kyung argues for his father—that it’s different methods, not different paths, and that he served this monarchy for thirty years.

But Jae-ha cuts him off coldly, “He’s too old. He’s an old fogey. He smells foul and he’s stale.” Harsh words, but it effectively makes him the bad guy, and not Ajusshi.

Shi-kyung can’t believe the words coming out of his mouth. “Are you the king I know?” Jae-ha: “Why? Do you want to hit me?” And without hesitation, Shi-kyung answers, “Yes.” Omg, you two are gonna make me CRY. Stop it!

Jae-ha lets out a tightly-wound sigh, and tells Shi-kyung to take a vacation. He answers right away that he’ll be staying right by Jae-ha’s side (Thank goodness.) until he finds out exactly what happened between him and Dad. (Balls.)

Jae-ha yells after him, “Ya, Eun Shi-kyung!” but he storms out, having made up his mind. Thank goodness for your dogged trust, but I’m scared for you.

Hang-ah reads Secretary Eun’s letter of resignation. She says sympathetically that he must’ve had a hard time, and Jae-ha just agrees absently. She starts to make a case for forgiveness, but Jae-ha counters that Ajusshi used his trust against him, all this time.

Jae-ha: “I’m a person too. I need time.” Right? Hell, I still need time and I’ve known for weeks! She tells him to rest, and he says he’s got a million meetings to prep for, but she yanks the papers out of his hands and pats her lap.

She pulls him toward her and he lies down, head in her lap, and takes her hand. So sweet.

And then he wraps her hand tightly around him, in this gesture that kind of kills me—it’s the way a child tries to envelope himself in a mother’s arms for comfort, like it might be possible to make a monster-shielding blanket out of her embrace.

Hang-ah: “Are you scared?” Jae-ha: “Yes. Everything except you… I’m scared of. I don’t think I can trust people.” He shuts his eyes to stop the tears, and she leans on his shoulder.

Bong-gu sits at home, obsessively watching Jae-ha’s video letter for the millionth time, like the crazy stalker that he is. He even drunkenly answers, as if they’re having a conversation. HA. Anyway, he proceeds with The Plan.

Jae-shin is all gung-ho to scoop out her memories, but her therapist warns that she’s the one who locked them away, and forcing that back out could lead to panic. Yes, we’ve already been through the panic. Now it’s time to push through anyway, so get out your hypno-baubles, lady, and help a sister out!

She tries on her own to listen to “Ride of the Valkyries,” but it sends her reeling and she tears the headphones away. Shi-kyung comes by and she asks him not to resent oppa too much, because there must be a reason they don’t know about. Shi-kyung agrees, still trusting Jae-ha despite it all. Aw.

He asks if she’s not going to sing anymore, reminding her that she used to, all the time. She takes that as a cue to sing now, and he stammers awkwardly that he didn’t mean now. Ha. She tries to remember the song she first sang to him, but can’t recall it, so he helps her out.

He sings the first line, and his voice startles her, so she pretends not to know how the rest of it goes, and he ends up singing the first verse for her, as she plays along. She takes him downstairs where the acoustics are better and hands him a microphone, wanting to record him.

She says that if he does well she’ll debut him as a singer, and when he balks, she promises not as an idol. Heh. She asks if he wants to sing it as a duet then (Yes please!), but he refuses, and starts to walk out.

She asks if he hates her that much—she confessed her feelings, and she’s working so hard, but he won’t give her the time of day. He tells her that what she feels is curiosity and nothing more, because they’re so different.

He says that she’s right about him being no fun, and when she gets to know him, the shininess of the new toy will wear off, and she’ll be sick of him. She swears that’s not it, but he tells her to stop messing with him: “I don’t want to become a plaything.”

She says she’ll ask him one thing then: Is it because she’s disabled? He answers right away that it’s not that, he swears. She starts to cry as she supposes that even if it were, she couldn’t do anything about it.

She asks one final thing: She sang that song to him just once, so how did he remember it? Is he a genius? He says, voice trembling, that it’s because the princess sang it (aww), and walks out before she can ask any more questions.

Hang-ah heads to Somalia with the queen mother to do charity work, and Mom gives her a purse as a gift on the way. They get relocated to a different hotel because the place they had originally booked just got blown up in a terrorist attack. UM. Red flag, anyone?

Thankfully it’s enough of a red flag to send them back home in the morning, but they’re here for the night. The staffer heads down in the elevator, where she sees a woman with a strange tattoo…

Mom sighs that she really wanted to see one of the children who had barely made it last time, who lost his mother to tuberculosis.

Hang-ah says that her mother died of the same, because a penicillin shot cost as much as a kilogram of rice, and she could never afford it. She doesn’t say this with any heaviness—just matter-of-factly—adding that she and Dad moved to Pyongyang soon after, and there were plenty of vaccines.

Mom takes her hand and asks what kind of person her mother was. Hang-ah says she was so young so her memories are faded, but her mother was a translator, and would read her stories at night, like Gulliver’s Travels.

Mom says that Hyun-joo (Jae-kang’s wife) called her “mother,” and that here when a mother and daughter-in-law are close, they just become mom/daughter. She tells her to call her “mother” instead of “her majesty.” Aw.

Hang-ah lights up, and tries it out awkwardly. Mom laughs, “Minus the accent.” They hold hands and laugh.

But this is no time for laughter, because Mia and her band of assassins are already here, shooting their way down the hall. They take out the guards and knock on Mom’s door posing as room service.

But Mom’s no dummy—she would be escorted by secret service if everything was on the up and up, and she scrambles for the phone. But the lines have been cut. She runs to her cell phone, but before she can make a call, Mia’s standing right behind her with a smile.

One of the secret service manages with his last breath to pull the fire alarm, which sends a stampede through the lobby. It’s enough to make Hang-ah pause, and she comes out of the bathroom cautiously.

She comes out to find Mom sitting on the couch at gunpoint. Her eyes widen. But then I love how her look changes when another gun gets trained on her—she looks over at it like it’s a fly challenging her patience.

But clearly she can’t risk getting the queen mother killed in a hostage stand-off.

Shi-kyung wakes Jae-ha up in the middle of the night to deliver the bad news—both Hang-ah and Mom are missing. He tries calling her, to no avail. (I love that he’s saved her number as Hang-ahr-ie, turning her name into a homophone for “vase” but meaning “lovesick-for-Hang-ah.”)

Bon Bon pays her hired help, and then promptly shoots them in the back, for her hostages to see. Damn. Then they get loaded onto a plane.

Jae-ha gets briefed that there are no ransom demands, and the two accomplices have been killed. Shi-kyung says that another kidnapper was caught on film, but only from the back—she had a barcode tattoo.

He immediately remembers that detail from Shi-kyung’s investigation into Mia. Shi-kyung confirms that Club M is the likeliest suspect. Jae-ha realizes that Bong-gu is going after his people, one by one. And Bong-gu purposely ignores all his calls, wanting Jae-ha to fry a little longer.

Meanwhile Hang-ah and Mom get moved to one of Bong-gu’s lairs. Hang-ah eats diligently, and assures Mom that the food isn’t poisoned—if they wanted them dead, they’d be dead—and tells her that she has to do the same to keep up her strength if they’re going to escape. Nice.

But Mom is scared witless, and says that Hang-ah might be able to because she’s a soldier, but she’s too frightened to try. Hang-ah tells her they have to try something, anything, to help the king.

Bong-gu interrupts to make his grand entrance, and Hang-ah recognizes him right away. She puts out her hand, “Kim Bong-gu-shi.” Ha. I love it. He pretends not to be bothered by it and squarely ignores her, and she totally smirks.

He goes straight for Mom, asking her to join him for tea, and when Hang-ah objects, Mia hauls her away at gunpoint.

Hang-ah’s father has come down to help Jae-ha, and confirms the Club M suspicion. I’m so glad he’s here, if only so he can witness this next scene:

Jae-ha asks Shi-kyung if he’s still getting the runaround from Bong-gu. “Whatever it takes. You know, right? Tell them I’ll do everything. I can go there myself, or lie down and beg. I can do it.”

Dad looks up at him. Shi-kyung whispers a protest. Jae-ha: “It’s Hang-ah. Hang-ah and Mom. You know my mom. She won’t last.”

Mom is currently cowering in fear over tea with Bong-gu. He sits watching her for a while, and then calls her “mother,” like he really does think he and Jae-ha are friends.

He comes closer and says that she reminds him of his mom, though his mom abandoned him to run her bar, tossing him in boarding schools and expecting he’d grow up okay. But even Bong-gu knows that what he really craved was his mother’s love.

He says he really was a good kid, so she should feel sorry for him. Aw, Poor Widdle Psycho. There, there.

He gets to the heart of the matter: Mom should tell Jae-ha to give up the throne already. He oozes with compliments for how dignified she is, noting that his own mother was so different, so crude.

Finally Mom opens her mouth, “Crude? How can a child call his own mother crude?” Hahahaha. Are you in trouble now? Daebak. And it just gets better.

She totally chastises him like a child, for blaming his parents for his own flaws, for claming a rough childhood when most people who endure hardship are better for it. “I am Jae-kang-ie’s mom! The mother of the man you killed. Even if you paid for your crime and then knelt to beg for forgiveness, it would be lacking!”

But instead he’s holding her here, and for what—to use her as bait against Jae-ha? “Do I, does the royal family, seem that easy?” She stands up. Oooh nice. He stands up and sneers that he was trying to be nice, but she just blows up at him.

“Fine. Kill me. Go ahead and kill me. Kill me! Do you think my children will flinch at the likes of you?! I’M going to take revenge on you! For our Jae-kang, our Hyun-joo, our Jae-shin’s legs, our Hang-ah’s baby. Even if I fall into hell itself, I’m going to take you with me as I go!”

So. Badass. And then she HITS HIM, with her tiny mom fists. I LOVE IT.

She goes to town, letting loose a barrage of swears and insults, asking how his mother gave birth to such rotten trash like him and still ate seaweed soup, as she hits him over and over. See, Mom, you’re plenty strong. You just had to get in touch with your inner rage.

Jae-ha finally snaps that he can’t take it anymore, and decides to just storm over there himself. Shi-kyung pleads with him to stop—this is exactly what they want, for him to go crazy and out of control. He calms down and gives Shi-kyung ten more minutes to get him through to Bong-gu.

Secretary Eun has locked himself away at home, and hasn’t answered any of his son’s thousand calls. But he does see the text that Hang-ah and the queen mother have been kidnapped, and takes Jae-ha’s call.

Jae-ha says nothing—all he does is dial and then listen. But Secretary Eun humbly offers his advice: to use Bong-gu’s international influence against him. Basically if he alerts the U.S. and China of Bong-gu going off the deep end, it’ll cut him off from major powers, and he’ll have to back down. He advises that Jae-ha stay calm, cold, and rational, and act decisively.

Exposition Minion tells Bong-gu that Jae-ha’s gone through diplomatic channels and for some reason, the U.S. and China frown upon the kidnapping of royals. Who knew? Bong-gu sighs that Jae-ha’s gotten smart, and agrees to a meeting.

Jae-ha goes to see Bong-gu, who plays dumb about the whole kidnapping, even as Jae-ha offers to do whatever he asks if he just lets them go. He says he’ll postpone the wedding, and Bong-gu finally says that IF he had kidnapped them—purely hypothetically, of course—then a measly broken engagement wouldn’t be the right price, would it?

Jae-ha asks what would be. “Your resignation.” His eyes widen. Bong-gu blathers on about who would take his place then, ruling Jae-shin out in her condition, and mentioning a sixth cousin. “Isn’t politics not your kind of thing anyway? It’s dirty.”

He suggests with a smile that he should gather up his loved ones and go live on an island in comfort, and leave the politics to others. He walks off, leaving Jae-ha reeling.

Bong-gu walks out, smiling as he passes by Shi-kyung. Aw, it’s Cookies and his unrequited love. Shi-kyung runs in to check on Jae-ha, who spends the entire journey back in silence.

He washes his face and comes out of the bathroom to find Hang-ah just sitting there, waiting for him. The lighting changes as he comes upon her, so this has to be a dream. She comes closer, and they look at each other with such loving eyes, and he asks, “This is a dream, right?”

She cups his face in her hands, and he clasps onto her hands with tears in his eyes, hugging her in desperate relief.

But then he notices a strange expression on her face, and asks why. Hang-ah: “Take care to eat well. And don’t forget to exercise.” He starts to cry and asks what’s happening.

She just keeps going, “Every sadness is just for a time. Because it’ll all pass someday.” And then she takes his hand.

Suddenly Mom calls out for Hang-ah, and she goes to join her. He tries to hold on, but she pulls away from his grasp. And then he looks up and they’re gone.

He’s left screaming, “Mom! Hang-ah-ya! Mom! Hang-ah-ya!” it startles him awake in a cold sweat.

Bong-gu’s minion shows Hang-ah a video of Bon Bon playing bloodthirsty hairdresser with Mom, and tells her to persuade the king to comply with their demands.

Meanwhile Shi-kyung is trying to do the very opposite with a scared and desperate Jae-ha. He can’t abdicate the throne and play right into their hands! But Jae-ha’s last nerve has cracked, and he asks why not.

He breaks down, “What if they really kill Hang-ah and Mom? I’m not that strong a person.”

*whimper*

He says that he’s lasted this long on obstinate pride, but he can’t do it anymore. They’re going to die. “I didn’t even want to be king! Why do I have to hold onto this seat while Mom and Hang-ah die??”

Shi-kyung has no words to make it right. Jae-ha tells him he’s sorry, but he’s going to live comfortably now, intending to give it all up.

Hang-ah watches as Mia threatens Mom with all manner of torture, and finally caves. “I’ll convince the king… to resign.” Minion tells her he’ll set up the video, but Hang-ah turns to him with a scheming glint in her eye.

“I’ll do it in person. Don’t you think it’ll be more convincing face-to-face?”

COMMENTS

Yay for the return of life and death stakes and heroic moments for everyone. I just about lost it when Mom talked down to Bong-gu like a misbehaving child and then wailed on him with all her momness. It was So. Awesome.

Bong-gu really stepped it up as a villain in a big, big way, and I’m ecstatic about that, for the sake of the story. There’s been enough messing about and pulling hair and getting in little jabs on both sides. Time for the real fight.

And as much as Bong-gu has his fatal flaws, he really is brilliant as an adversary, because he’s managed to take away the one thing that gave Jae-ha his confidence—his trust in his people. Jae-ha taunts him with that one thing Bong-gu will never have, so he deals that blow to Secretary Eun. Which is really just aimed at Jae-ha, because it levels his sense of trust in his people. And then just when he clutches onto Hang-ah for dear life as the only person he can trust, Bong-gu yanks her away from his side.

I love that this episode is filled with shots of Jae-ha in the foreground with Shi-kyung standing behind him in the background. There’s no fanfare about it, but he’s just always there. It’s telling that of all people, it’s Shi-kyung he apologizes to, when he’s at the end of his rope and about to give up the throne. It’s like Shi-kyung’s trust is what gives that position any meaning. This episode had great moments for both couples—Shi-kyung’s accidental confession that he memorized every note of that song, and Jae-ha and Hang-ah getting to such a supportive, honest place—but it was the bromance that really did me in. When they had words over Dad and Jae-ha was trying to protect Shi-kyung by being the bad guy and Shi-kyung continued to trust him anyway? I kind of swooned. I can’t help it! They’re just so perfect for each other!

Jae-ha’s emotional progression just in this episode alone, ripped me up good and proper. When his betrayal turned to fear, and that fear multiplied turned to desperation and despair? It kills me that he’s ready to give it all up, but I know that his people won’t let him. Hang-ah will kick ass, and Shi-kyung will find the words. Right? RIGHT?

glad that we have the same thoughts and then again, who like death?

even tough Bong Gu is villain, honestly speaking here i don't want him to die in the end. it will too easy for all creepy sins he did. come on death is not something that solves all problems, being alive and tortured for the rest of his life and get the lesson for that will be better choice.

writers, only 4 episodes left, please make it wonderful so TK2H will stay in our heart for years

LOLOLOLOLs
True..true..so true...
I was refreshing dramabeans like crazy every thursday and friday hahaha.
I don't care much about rating, but my schedule for thursday(and friday) is:
as soon as I open my eyes:
1. Reread live tweet/live report from fanbase/vingle
2. looking for quick summary
3. refreshing KPG like crazy because Ms. Koala is the fastest recaps (and also love her insight!), her recaps usually out at 06.KST(I even remember the time!)
4. refresh while searching for real time rating, counting about the average rating
5. Rating for last night out, ranting, wondering, read comments, commenting
6. GF post recaps in dramabeans! ATTACK!!!

Don't know about slow traffic but the only down thing about this thread getting so big is that I can't open it on my iPhone. :-( Other than that, it's all good!

Re :MBC ‘Section TV Relay.’
Anyone seen this yet ? MC asked "Who is getting a better deal out of d engagement ?" to LSG & HJW . And LSG kinda mumbles , he was. The question was inverted & redirected at Kang Seok & ShiKyung " Who suffer greater losses out of d engagement?" KS answered HJW & Jo Jung Suk said LSG . Both laughingly.
Why do you think they answered differently ? Can anyone analyze their answer & give me yr view please ? THX.

I actually read a slightly different but more detailed translation to this.
When the MC was interviewing LSG and HJW about who's getting the better deal, LSG thought for a moment because he didn't know how to answer it properly (I think he was searching for an answer that wouldn't offend anyone), but then later blurbed out he is getting the better deal out of it when the MC pressed for an answer when MC said "look LSG is not answering". And so LSG said jokingly "did I take too long to get that answer out?" haha. Then HJW said no one is getting the better deal out of it because it's a hard earned engagement. Then LSG said "I should of said what noona said" hehe

Then with KS, MC inverted his question and asked who suffered greater losses? KS answered HJW without a second thought and repeated it twice haha, and then when LSG passed by, he said "LSG too" haha. But then KS was asked again in the presence of LSG, and he mumbles HJW, to which LSG just walked away playfully haha.

Then with our Bot, he said that he's a crazy fan of HJW, but because he's serving his majesty the King at the moment, so LSG.

I just wanted to chime in to confirm Raine's translation is the more accurate one.

Also if people are curious about the whole segment (only the parts relating to HJW & LSG):

It starts with the interviewer asking HJW and LSG how they feel about the engagement, and LSG answered "I'm very happy about it of course, she's (pointing at HJW) very lovely/beautiful."

Then the interviewer asks them who is bigger waste (as in who is a bigger waste for no longer being single and who is losing the most in the engagement, in English we'd probably say something like "she's too good for him!" you get the idea). LSG then stops to think about it, so they make fun of him for having to think about his answer. He says jokingly "I was wondering if I should say I was the loser, did I think about it too long?"

HJW then says, "Because it was a hard won engagement, and because it is a sincere/earnest engagement, is there really a loser in this situation?" and LSG instantly says, "Ah, that's how I should have replied!"

Interviewer then asks if there was a memorable scene, and LSG replies "I liked it all!" I think he says something like "each cut"- so I guess he means every take?. "All of it, it was all memorable!" (this is the bit where the interviewer punches LSG on the arm)
HJW says "The proposal scene. It was really a warm scene, one where I felt, 'Oh this is a moment this woman would feel really thankful.'"

The interviewer then speaks to Hangah's dad and Kangseok and they get asked the same question: "Who is the biggest waste/loser?" and Kangseok answers immediately "HJW! HJW!" and the interviewer is like "ME TOO! It's such a waste!"
Then Kangseok suddenly changes his answer to "No, It's Lee Seunggi!" because LSG suddenly appeared- LSG pauses to find out what's going on, and when he realises he quickly dashes out, and the actor who plays Kangsoek is like "Ha, Ha Jiwon."

Then the interviewer asks Jo Jung Seok who is he closer to HJW or LSG, and as JJS answers the interviewer says, "For me? It's Ha Jiwon!" Jo Jung Seok says "Of course I'm a big fan of Ha Jiwon, but since I'm serving LSG in this drama, I would have to say my King" (so cute).

Then Lee Soon Jae (Eun Kyutae) mentions that his grand daughter wanted LSG's signature but he hasn't been able to ask for it yet.

Thank you , Raine & Jenlikeskettlecorn!
When I saw it , it was still sizzling hot off the press & sometimes , the translations are either too short or a little wonky . Thanks for clarifying . But seriously , I thot that question had undertones which belied some kind of cheekiness & the question was indirectly pointing at the amount of passionate skinship. Thats what happens when your heart which is 'silently'(haha!Pff) shipping them , convinces the brain to think that way ! My mind's being played .wuff.

just an update- re-watched the segment today and noticed the last question to JJS was the same question to everyone else- "who is the bigger waste", and he answers "LSG". Whoops, sorry I only listened to it once and 'close' and 'waste' sound similar in Korean, but the caption clearly says "waste".

Anyhoo, just killing time until the new ep.

Thanks S for the spoiler. Anticipate to see them in ep 19 in ever land. ;) the wait is killing till we'd.. Let me guess for coming episode 17...
I believe JH and HA are doing teleconferencing after HA's request to meet the king F2F was rejected. JH was telling her that he has decided to give up his throne as he does not want to risk losing both Her and mum. But HA says no and probably hint to him that she and the queen will find ways to escape. HA wants the king to find important evidences on the evil misdeeds of what BG has done all this while. And the line was being cut off and he was shouting for HA. He pressurised the PM to quickly find the people. SK confronted his dad of his wrongdoings after he found out what happened and was disappointed. He promised to stay by the king and was comforted by JS. Their love relationship confirmed..

HA and queen managed to escape with the help of north korean and WoC soldiers. It has once again show that NK and SK can reunified. When BG found out they have escaped, he told his sidekick to keep a secret from JH and pressure him to be out from his throne..

Think m going crazy coming up the script on my own.. hee

Oh good one, Panda!! I hope it pans out as you predict.

can we fast-forward to Wed, pretty please???!!

0

Required fields are marked *

@Panda,
I was thinking along those lines too...

And about the comments on Hang Ah's outfit- blue blouse and jeans? Remember they were supposed to visit the "kids" so they were dressing appropriately and they were in Somalia. But they were kidnapped instead - still its more comfortable to kick and fight to escape (like we are imagining) when she is in her jeans and flats? I did not see her shoes.

I did not notice much the queens outfits and jewelry. I loved Hang Ahs outfits, the black dress, the white gown, the blue lacy dress in Lap time moment, she is so gorgeous!
It takes more viewing for me to notice those details. Right now, I am fixated on LSG's face when he is onscreen. He is mesmerizing that I am oblivious to the background - I have to force myself to look at the other actors - hehe . So this week I will review all the episodes and I promise to take notice of the other characters more closely. AAArghh its hard to tear my eyes away from LSG and HjW. LOL.

You know when Seungi hugged and kissed Ji Won on the engagement scene? That wasn't acting! It was in response to the fans shouting "kiss" . Aww the way LSG grabbed JW waist and spun her for a kiss. Aaahhhhh that was Seung Gi alright! And the lingering look and smile and hands still on her back - and JW shy smile and lowered eyelashes as if to hide her feelings? But it was all captured for us to see....that's scene is soooooo yummyyyyy...

Actually all of LSG and HJW sweet romantic scenes are implanted in my brain- I think those will be the standard with which I will compare the future and past romantic pairings and scenes. Even rewatching SeGa - it wasn't as organic as the K2H's LJH/KHA couple.

I marvel at the Writers coming up with such "swoon factor" scenes. But it is also a testament of how much hard work and love the two actors put into it. LSG and HJW are most hard working actors and I think it helped that LSG left Strong Heart so he could focus on this project. He made a good decision. I miss him in Strong Start but his work in K2H will mark the start of his acting career not as an Idol but as a serious, and respected Actor. Already his veteran co-stars have nothing but praise for his acting and work ethic and behaviour during and after filming.
At age 25, he has 8 years of successful career and numerous accolades. He can afford to be more picky on his projects so he can take care of himself as well. It will be crazy after this with offers left and right and he has only one body - ahhhhh stress! How to deal with fans that range from 1 to 101 years old from all over the world???

Thanks to internet, we can google and ogle him to our hearts content. Beam you over LSG- soon we can do this, the technology is already developed.

Ahhhh stress!!! 4 more days til next episode. Help me !!!! this is worse than being kidnapped! K2H has held me captive for 2 months already and there's no help coming!!!!!

Sorry to disappoint you but the kiss was written in the script. I am sure they had fans yell 'kiss kiss' so they could follow-up with the kiss. According to Ms. Koala, they had 4 NG's with the director telling them to be more passionate!! pffft, that was all the prodding Seung-gi needed. heh

So far from the fan event photos, we can be sure that there has been fan events from both HJW and LSG fans, as well as TK2H DC fans (which is really DAEBAK since fan events by drama fans are rare, usually it's always from the main actor+actress's fans). Think LSG fans held like 2-3 events, all from different joint Airen groups.

In other words, lots of love from the fans <3 ^^

I'm drilling down to the last 2 weeks of my BIG BIG professional certification test so I WILL have to push off the last 4 ep for the sake of my real life achievements. You know, it's a real sacrifice there, so I beg in despair for a happier ending.

I have to admit that TK2H had totally caught me off guard, in every possible perspective. Most of them have been nicely dissected and appreciated by yall so I wont repeat. Just a few more things I wanna say.

First off, the soundtracks, simply incredible. Every arrangement has already successfully delivered the voice of story. I once replayed Jae Kang's funeral scene with eyes closed just to feel how surreal the melodies were. Of course, goose pumps are given, but what more is that it shows such a high commitment of the entire production staffs who, all and every one of them, has put their hearts and souls into this show.

Elaborating from that, on one hand is the huge disappointment in viewers rating record, but, on the other hand, it confirms the high levels of dignity of the entire production team. So what if the rating continues to drop? Has anyone of us here disappointed at any given scene in the last 16 episodes? It takes tremendous teamwork, and trust in each other, from the writer, producer, to actors and everyone else to continually top off their own efforts one week after next, despite of all discouraging signs that may present out there. For this alone, I thank you TK2H. It has been a while since I've got to experience this entirety of this segment of ART.

Aside from their stunning acting skills, I've really come to respect both LSG and HJW at a different level now. Obviously TK2H is on its own league and it takes not only intelligence (yes!) but also, life experiences and an open mind to truly appreciate this piece of work. HJW is known for her raw dedication, but I want to stress that committing to this drama, alone, is already a huge accomplishment for LSG. Looking at the previously-casted males for the role, none of them are TV rookies, romance eyes candies, or even the norm-conforming cuties. I gave LSG a 10 already for going with his guts, yet, I was skeptical about his capability. My apology to you, Seung gi, you have well proven me wrong. Your performances since then have been phenomenal.

All in all, I'm happy that I have walked down this road with all of you guys here, who share the simple joy in a much more beautifully crafted story. I will come back after my test to seriously put down all my thoughts for this one. Until then..

PS: password for the OST rar file is airenida if you still haven't found it yet!

I'm starting to think, PD is aware of how this drama is popular among people on the net, and the fact we aren't all from SKorea.
From my experience so far, If ratings are low, they cut show...or finish it really fast.
Maybe they think to export this drama, so they are keeping quality up. On other side, cast is to professional to let it just be.

I thank them ;)

There are a lot and lots fan event to support TK2H, most of it is lunch meal (how I thankful with korean hearties, 1023 and mostly AIREN)!
We are success tell them about International project (video message), Kwon Hyun Sang (the actor who play Dong Ha), reply Gita (a soompiers) with: OK!!!! When she tell him abt the video message
More over, our video message is make news in nate too ^^ so it's a certainty that the staff know about us

Other fan event is website http://www.king2hearts.co.cc where we can leave message for the actors & staff, as soon as the international fans know, the website flooded with message from international fans. I believe site admin even leave thank you message for international fans. I heard that korean hearties compiled the message into CD and give it to the actor & staff.

I must admit, at the earlier episode, when the rating dropeed, I'm afraid that this drama will get cut...but grateful it's not. Kudos for the staff & actor who keep maintain their hard work despite dropping telecision rating!!

they have such beautiful songs, and it's always fit in at the greatest places, no song is overplayed (a la Only Paradise BBF. lol)

The songs that are played at the tearjerker scenes are saved for later when there's another emotional scene so me, associating one with the other is hit with another wave of emotions when the song is playing.

To all the hearties out there, my week with TK2H looks like this:

Wednesday: try my hardest not to think about all the spoilers and speculations about the coming episodes. Exhaust myself during evening workout so that I can go to bed. No live streaming. No live streaming. And more muttering to steel my resolutions.

Thursday: wake up so early it's not even funny. Search everywhere for subbed episode. While downloading or waiting for the maddening buffering, take very cautious peek at early press. Ignore those comments from people obviously not understanding what they just watched. Wow, recaps are up! Hooray! But no reading the whole thing until my own viewing!!! More swearing to that effect.

Late Thursday: start commenting like crazy. Can't help it. Watch episode again. Repeat evening ritual as the night before.

Friday: Thursday all over for the new episode.

Saturday: search everywhere for HD versions to download. And yes, I will by the DVD. Continue re-watching and commenting.

Sunday: do some laundry and other stuff I totally forget and/or neglect but necessary to survive. Watch the HD versions with great satisfaction.

Monday: search for any kind of spoilers, news, rumors, speculations, etc. etc.

Tuesday: why is time not moving? How come the show is getting to its finale? Start worrying about the life AFTER.

Wednesday: Wake up. Must. Not. Check. Live. Recaps/spoilers. On. Soompi.........check soompi anyway. Am shocked by the plot. Check spoilers throughout the day. Try to wait for at least 90% sub on viki. Watch it anyway at 80+% sub. Read dramabeans recap.

Thursday: Repeat Wednesday's insanity. Re-watch Wed's episode in full sub + Thursday's episode at 80+% sub. Read dramabeans recap.

Friday: Re-watch Thursday's episode at full sub. Hang out at soompi and dramabeans.

Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday: Play and replay the new episodes in the background while doing work. Check soompi, dramabeans and other sites for spoilers. Ironically this has greatly reduced my facebook habit.

@random person - Your week is even more hilarious to me because it's almost identical to my week (right down to the "am shocked by the plot"). Only difference is I will break down and watch at 70% subs, maybe less.

On Wednesdays and Thursdays I always try to have something in my schedule that keeps me busy until the time of day where I think that 70% subs is reached. Then, it's like a reward for my waiting. Voila! Mostly subbed!

However, that is not to say I won't "lower" my standards out of desperation and just watch it raw if my Wedn. and Thurs. are not filled up.

And like you, I find myself frequenting facebook a lot less. (My FB "friends" are asking about my whereabouts.) Um, I'm in Korea.

Hi Hearties, not sure if this has been discussed before.

One Korean Hearties [gogumagamza (TK2H soompi thread)] shared info about red / blue color:

"this drama has so many implications. I really love it.
Did you know this?? About color?
JK had red necktie when the first scene with HA and the last WOC scene.
Why red??
K-fans think JK’s red necktie implies color of diplomacy.
Korean national flag, Taegeukgi colors are white, black, red and blue.
In general, Red color associates NK and Blue color associates SK in Korea. (JH called HA ‘bbal geng I’ at first few times. ‘bbal gang’ means red. and ‘bbal geng i’ is slang for a socialist)
JK wanted to friendly gesture by using NK color necktie.
And… when HA first came to south-korea, her dress color is red(pink hanbok) [episode 5]. But after she received JH’s propose, her jacket color is blue [episode 12]!!!

i don' know why, but i can't upload image. I keep getting an error message.
so.. here is the color scenes http://gall.dcinside.com/list.php?id=king2hearts&no=40135 "

And on the latest BTS picture (Jae Ha & Hang Ah on a white sedan). Jae Ha wore blue suit (represents SK) and Hang Ah wore a red dress (represents NK).

When I googled about this red / blue color, I found a fascinating facts:

"After World War II, Korea was split into two administrations with the north administered by the Soviets and the south by the USA. From this time until 25 June 1950 when are broke out, the dividing line between North Korea and South Korea had been the 38th parallel.

[Korea is shown divided into two parts at the 38th parallel with North Korean territory identified in red and South Korea below it in blue.]"

Good point. That's why I'm so in love with this show! So many delicious layers to discover, so many meanings behind seemingly random things.

But I should not be surprised at this point. The writing and the execution of this drama is just BRILLIANT!

Thanks for sharing, glo!

Wow, those details. That's what make this drama great. The blue jacket worn by HA in ep 12 probably means she's ready to be part of SK.
Thanks glo.

Wow, pains have been taken to give us a complete, well-thought out, multi-layered drama. One more reason I love this drama so much.

And sorry if this has been shared before, but speaking of well-thought out, this reminds me of a post I saw on soompi regarding the dream JH had. It's not so much ominous or to be taken literally. Anyway, here's what was included in the post about it:

"To dream that someone is leaving you refers to feelings of rejection or of not being able to keep up. You are questioning your abilities. Perhaps you are not utilizing your full potential. Alternatively, the dream indicates an end to something; you are ready to let go of the past and move forward."

Yes, major questioning of his abilities is going on. And on the alternative side, perhaps the something that will end is his old "I wish I weren't king" self replaced with "I'm glad I'm king because as such I have the responsibility and capability to do so much."

So interesting!

I noticed that when they get kidnapped, Hang-ah and the queen mother are both wearing a very similar shade of light blue. It's a subtle link that ties them both together, especially since they're wearing these clothes when the queen mother suggests that Hang-ah call her "mom."

Just when you think you're done praising this drama i swear, there's so much more you can say about it!
WHY drama?! WHY are you doing this to me?!
You are not perfect, that i agree with. But why are you making me fall so in love with your beauty? Why are you ripping my heart out so many times?
Why are you making me yearn so much for every second, minute of your time?! I am in a bubble.. a bubble that takes me far far away to a land of endless possibilities.
I realized.. You are possibly the only drama that has ever come close to fulfilling that dream, that longing.. for a drama that satisfies all the cravings i have for dramas.
I don't think any other drama can come close to how K2H has made me feel.
I mean by no means am i saying this is the best drama out there.. it has its flaws.. but i can definitely say it makes up for so much of it by giving me SO much more than i bargained for.
It may just knock down CH as my #1. I'm just going with my heart right now.
CH had me on the edge of my seat alot of the times, but if you were to ask me where i was mostly invested emotionally in the pairings, relationships, family.. i've just got to say K2H.

I will search around, hoping that one day, a drama will make me as happy as you have.
And even if they come even close, you, perhaps.. will always be my jewel.
The second this drama ends, i am burying you in the bottom of my heart, and locking it away with an invisible key.

what is CH?? is it a kdrama?

Before K2H, the only drama that i rewatched was coffee prince - bcoz of Gong Yoo- i dont remember the character's name ....
Dongyi's character is also memorable because it was my first sageuk drama.
K2H - I will remember the actors along with their characters' names - and every scene will be etched in my memory. This is the only time I think that I will engage in this way- spending my precious time commenting and reading comments. yayyy

@Saima,
City Hunter , thanks for refreshing my memory. I did watch this but the ending - I could not watch it til some weeks after the drama ended -
kdamas i watched just to de-stress.
But K2H - this will be the "Movie in my Mind" for a looonngggg time.

I was watching a clip of Strong Hearts - and the topic was Kissing scenes. LSG was still the host in this episode . I was laughing because Seuingi ssaid that he thought the bed scenes when actors are under the blanket that "they were doing it for real" - the entire audience laughed out loud...
Which brings to mind that we should applaud the Directors as well for creating these real-life illussions.
One of the guests Uee was quite disappointed with her kissing scene because "she didn't even feel it" - it was just a peck on the lips, and the "long kiss" in You're Beautiful wasn't even a kiss- LOL.

That is why sometimes, I do not like watching the behind the scenes making of a drama because it just kills the romance for me.
Unfortunately I watched the behind the scenes of the refrigerator kiss-- so many people-- it is all really acting and when we watch - we make the movie in our minds...LOL

3 more days.....

P.S.
with city hunter- the reason I forgot all about this drama already was the romance ---- wasn't quite romantic to me. i am not enamored about the lead pair. Although Lee MH did a fine job in that drama, I was in love with the vengeful 'dad' . He's the hottest 'father' role ever! what was the name of that actor?

I didn't watch CH. I've given it 3 shots but couldn't get past Ep 3. Perhaps the later episodes get better. It didn't grab my attention like TK2H has...

And it flowed so nicely, it was probably closer to perfect in terms of execution and everything.. Which was why it so easily became my #1 and because i am an action freak and there were barely well executed action movies in k-drama land.Plus, the taste was more fitting to a wider audience.

Two things like didn't like about CH.
1) The death of prosecutor. Couldn't bring myself to watch that part. Good thing my daughter warned me before hand about his death. JUST COULDN"T WATCH IT. Still haven't.
2) The romance between the OTP - didn't like the ending. It was so frustrating, not knowing if they were going to be together or not. Didn't also like the fact the City Hunter (can't remember his character name) kept pushing Kim NaNa away. This is so unlike JH.

Maybe we've all just been drinking the same koolaid (the LSG koolaid...) I'm so busy with work at the moment, but I keep having to restrain myself not to write bucket loads of essays on this drama, I'm spazzing all over the place trying to remain a productive human being!

I'm loving so much about this drama, but at the core of it I think it's because the emotional intensity of all of it, no matter how far out the story gets, feels honest. Right from the beginning with that scene with JH telling JK that their positions are that of mere puppets, the show had that spark that pulls you in and grounds the show into something real.

Also, the way that JH looks at HA totally kills me- it's the hallmark of a great drama couple- when you feel you'll die if they can't be together, and LSG sells that so hard here. He always looks at her like she's the most special person in the room. Chemistry overload. Ok, back to work...

Just marathorned through the subbed Ep 15 & 16...
want to share my thoughts on them, though everyone must have discussed the episodes throuhly by now... :)

Ep 15:

- how HOT is LSG when he speaks in english? Crisp and clear and hardly any accent. I rewatched a few times the part when JH said "Drop the gun" and warned in English the US soldier to get away from the door. So damn manly.
- also love how HJW expressed the dilemma about pressing the button to trigger the last bomb... wished she said "I love you" to JH himself instead!
- love the hug and how JH smiled and wound his arms tighter around HA at the end.
- overall, really liked that the writers kept up with the WOC and gave us some heart thumping action, though I didn't feel that the WOC itself add much to the plot, except that it was the event that set everything in motion, i.e. JH meeting HA etc.
- SK is marvellously restrained in his tears, but was heartwrenching nonetheless.
- how cool is JS in this episode... from confession of her love to SK to standing up during her speech... BRAVO!
- Jh-BG meetup, not the best of their meetups, but JH always nail BG in those scenes.

Ep 16:

LSG JH LSG JH LSG JH. Enough said.
Seriously, I'll be very disappointed if he doesn't get due recognition for his portrayal of JH. I have never heard and watched LSG before TK2H, now I'm an official fangirl. Particularly loved the scene of him with Sec Eun and HA in the dream sequence. the myraid of emotions displayed was so so raw, from disbelief, to anger to disappointment to anger again when he found out about Sec Eun, and the utter devastation shown in the dream sequence. I watched all his scenes with a lump in my throat.

I wished SK would have more confidence in himself with regards to JS... clearly the girls love him.

And chocolate BB is clearly bonkers. She looked disappointed when BG's right hand man (what's his name?) asked her to stop intimidating Queen Mother.

Here's what I think about the upcoming episodes...
obviously HA has a plan... she will have a showdown with bonkers BB and get QM out somehow... I'm dying to see HA kick BB's ass and kill her if she needs to. She will definitely not wait till JH comes for them. I don't see JH abdicating, JH may feel hopeless now and want to abdicate, but he is not stupid. Maybe he will give BG the false impression of abdicating but I think he will plan something to destroy BG once and for all, that is to weaken or remove BG's ecnomic and political power, with help from Sec Eun and SK and JS regaining her memory.

I would say if you go back to check out Seung-gi's previous works after watching his moving & nuanced portrayal of Jae-ha....you'll be disappointed!! lol. I would say he was serviceable and likeable in his portrayal of his earlier characters but nowhere close to "oh.my.gosh. he is bloody good!!" as he is when playing Jae-ha.

I had an 'aha' moment after reading scary comments that Jae-ha would die. Initially I'd read the premise of this drama was about Jae-ha's growth from bratty Prince to be THE KING of kings! As of Ep 16 he is nowhere close to being an abled & competent ruler that his country needs wherein he isn't just a puppet in the hands of the politicians. I'm sure he'll use an atypical way to bring down BG and beat him at his game. If he sacrifices his life to seek an exhilarating justice I'll be o.k.! (i guess?)

@Saima
Compared to LSG's earlier dramas, TK2H of takes the cake. However, I think he was still pretty good in his earlier dramas. When I saw him in BL, I was impressed cos he was so different from his personality in 1N2D. Told my daughter that if I had not seen him in 1N2D, I would probably hate his character and who knows, the actor himself. But what caught my attention in that drama was the look that LSG (Huan) had when he rescued Eun Sung from the oncoming truck. The look on his face was just simply awesome - fear, anxiety, frustration, anger and the first flutterings of love all rolled into one.

I think that LSG has always been pretty good with such looks as he's very expressive. Even in MGIAG, the times he had to tear up esp on their last day together, and he was trying so hard not to cry and be brave was daebak. But of course, in TK2H, he has mastered it.

Oh.. about the royal guards, most useless bunch I have ever seen in a drama. While I get that if all the royal guards are so capable, then we won't have the plot points of HA saving JH, SK saving JS etc, the way Bong Bong managed to breach the security each time or off the guards one by one,it's just too easy! I wished the guards at least put up a fight each time before succumbing, so that it is somewhat believable. BUT that said, I'm not too bothered by it, cos it is a DRAMA, not some documentary, that everything must real and accurate.

Someone commented how come the SK govt is not activating it's military or secret forces... but I think JH may just do that once he figured how and when to do so... cos in Ep 16, was it Sec Eun or SK who mentioned that SK's secret forces is strong.... or something like that?

It does make me kinda sad, though, that she's talking about K2H like it's a failure because the ratings aren't super high. Clearly a show that routinely inspires over a thousand comments per episode and has fans all around the world is anything but a failure. I really, reaaaaaally hope that the K2H crew realizes the breadth of their reach and does not feel that they have in any way failed.

I don't know if she really sees the show as a failure, as much as that it hasn't had the same level of recognition (ratings wise at least) as LSG's other projects. I think she basically means he can't always be on top (and not being on top as being a character building exercise). I think it's quite funny the way she said it.

I keep hearing people say the ratings are low, but I wonder if the case is being overstated a little. The ratings have fallen quite a bit yes, but it's not exactly in the disaster category.

I think the biggest problem for the drama has been, not the quality of the show itself, but rather the strong competition in the same timeslot. Both Rooftop Prince and Equator Man seem to be doing well with strong fan bases. EM is out in front at the moment, but there isn't a huge difference between the 3 dramas, none of them are getting crazy 30-50% audience share.

It's cool though that neither HJW or LSG really have to prove themselves with ratings- they've already done that a lot in the past, and this drama doesn't nearly qualify enough as a failure that can taint that history. LSG definitely, has gotten so much more than high ratings out of this project though, I can't imagine he'd be unsatisfied with the results of the drama. Everyone is looking at him with new eyes. Dare I say it but this is probably more worthwhile to him in the long run, than having a less meaty role, but better ratings.

"I think she basically means he can’t always be on top (and not being on top as being a character building exercise)"
As for me, I catch this sentence as ratingwise, And I'm absolutely agree with queen mama. She try to tell that you don't always get thing as you want, but what the best is giving your best, no matter what. I don't think she disappointed either, for me the statement is more like a sunbae teach her hoobae about up and down in life^^

About low rating, actually I have made a post here -more a joke actually kkkk- discussing why it's get 'low rating'. I'm agree with 'over stated' statement and there isn't crazy rating reached til now. I'd like to add, Korean media seem love to blow up things overly, not to mention favorable subjective perspective. If you don't mind to observe closely within the news in soompi and e-news, you'll get what I mean with which show is get the more favor.

May I rant a bit? It's been bothering me, but I don't blame the show rather I blame at the viewers/fans. The fans swallow the news wholely without checking the reality or how the situation is, or in other case, when there is flaw or weak link in TK2H they'll attack and press it like no end. A bit sad, because they judge something just from a tiny cut and doesn't understand the whole situation :(

Ratings ratings ratings....

The drama that preceded K2H (Moon embracing the sun) had huge ratings because there was really no strong competition , whereas, K2H was aired same time as RTP and EM which deals with non-political issues.
I can understand how SKorean folks are not in the mood to watch a drama that has any mention of politics or North-South K issues, because the situation right now is very tense politically- so people have a tendency to be in denial and escape from thinking about it.
No wonder, K2H is garnering a huge popularity outside of Korea because we are distanced from the situation.
And TV ratings are localized so it doesn't measure the success of a drama. To me it is not a valid measure of deciding which drama is great. It's the PEOPLE that counts... who is watching the drama? why do we watch the drama?
When the whole planet is your market - one should not focus too much on one single rating system.
K2H is watched in 30+ countries - so I am asking the producers/MBC network to produce a DVD with English and other languages translated , director's Version and market it worldwide. Make it available in Netflix, and other streaming sites. Let people have a choice.
It was a smart decision for LSG to quit his hosting job and focus on this drama - best decision he made. LSG is no longer only Korea's darling boy but the Worlds! To me right now, he has shed the Idol star image and have just become a serious Actor. I am glad also that he is a solo singer and not part of a boy-band - this will make it easier for him to choose his projects, coz he alone decides.

I agree that K2H suffered in the ratings game because of its slot. Being up against RTP is tough because just the fans of Yoo Chun (not saying that RTP is crap, just that they'll watch him watching paint dry), will ensure the high ratings of RTP.

The fact that something like Moon/Sun could have done well in the ratings is proof enough that time slot is all important.

@iluvk2hlsg: Again, I find myself agreeing with you.

I'm not very much into politics and just keep myself abreast of what's going on in the world very generally. However, there was an article in the papers recently, about a book recounting a NK's experience in detention camp (he was born in one and had a brother. His parents come together just to breed.) and his eventual escape. It was harrowing to say the least and I cried and shuddered at the horrors he went through that no human being should have to go through.

That article left a deep impact on me. I live in bubble-wrapped Singapore, which many expats call Paradise. I think the true horrors of NK and the resulting tensions between both Koreas cannot be fully appreciated by those living outside and maybe even not their own younger generation. It may be that the older generation can never look at NK-SK relations through such rose-tinted glasses.

..Bong Gu HAS to die at the end of this. Preferably with Bon Bon and Toupe Guy. Then they should immediately deal with the power vacuum created by Bong Gu's death...don't know if that will happen.

At the very least Bon Bon should die and go straight to hell where they would probably try to lock the gates to keep her out, worrying she'd give Hell a bad name.

Her dying at the hands of Hang-Ah would certainly be EPIC. (But I secretly harbor a desire for a Shi Kyung-Bon Bon Face off ;) )

I mentioned in an earlier post that I wanted Bon Bon to face off with Shi Kyung just so he can unleash the rage that he kept on such a tight rein during that time when Bon Bon was taunting him about the Princess (Ep 7 - The "I Don't Eat Rotten Cookies" Episode). Can't forget his face when he was trying oh so hard not to punch her.

SK to BB: Payback's a b*tch, you chocolate-eating Psycho! How dare you do that to MY WOMAN! Prepare to die cause imma kill you! (Shi Kyung-ah, don't hold back just cause BB's a woman, ok? Unleash the Bot in you!)

I agree. Bot is too straight-laced to beat a woman no matter how evil she is. He would most likely read her the Miranda Right and tell her that they will be with-holding chocolate and cookies as punishment.

Jae Shin on the other hand, will probably mow her down and do happy wheelies while doing it.

Wouldn't it be epic though if Jae Ha rigs a bomb (made with his trusty mobile) into her bon bons and she goes all kapow?

Bon Bon: "Hello? Who is this?"
Jae Ha & gang: "Count Chocula! One Bon Bon ... two bon bons ... *click" ... bwahahaha, no Bon Bon ...
OK, guys, now to rig laxatives into John Mayo's cookies ... Young Bae, you still got that enema the Americans left behind?"

Question about the OST!

I couldn't find the "coronation theme" amongst the 13 tracks. It's that instrumental piece with some operatic singing that's played when JH did the "receiving of the seal" ceremony in episode 8 and when SK said "you are the best king" to JH in episode...10? It always plays in epic scenes. In episode 15 they played it during the flashback when JH told HA to press the button no matter what.

That music is too epic so my personal name for it is the coronation theme. Does anyone know where to find it or is it in the OST and I just missed it?

Absolutely bummed that it's not included! :/ Also the piece that's played when Secretary Eun is advising Jae-ha to go through the diplomacy route to meet with BG is not included!!

Sorry to digress but how awesome was it that Eun knew it was the King, advised him, & w/o a word uttered by Jae-ha the conversation came to an end. See King, your people are still behind you although said person's fired!

Maybe Part 2? They have to include all the BGMs used. I'd feel robbed if they don't.

AND they have to let LSG and JJS sing at least 1 song each for the OST. That kind of talent would be wasted if they don't. I'm hoping they would let JJS record First Love, too, so there's a male and female version. Please, please, please!

Ha Ji Won is so daebak! i love her personality and her acting :DD

READ THIS AND YOU'LL LOVE HA JI WON EVEN MORE!
source: dramahaven.com

What happened to Ha Ji Won?

The drama and movie she is currently starring in are basing on South Korea and North Korea as the theme, she is acting the role of representative of South Korea or North Korea, and all is based on reconciliation and peace between South Korea and North Korea as the plot. And as luck would have it, she is the leader for the South Korea and North Korea unified team. In “The King 2 Hearts“, she s team leader of North Korea’s officers; in movie “Korea”, she is South Korea’s table tenner player. What kind of charm Ha Ji Won exactly possessed that allows her to show the link between South Korea and North Korea?

In “The King 2 Hearts”, Ha Ji Won plays the role of top instructor for North Korea special forces that has unique characteristics who was an officer in the North Korea special forces, exuding a specific temperament of been in the special forces, increasing the tension of the plot. But when she appears in front of Lee Jae Ha (Lee Seung Gi), she turns into a very gentle and cute female and at the same time show a halo of motherhood.

The story is in the situation of extreme difficulty from friend and foe, coming and going between the two special identities that are poles apart, therefore, for Ha Ji Won to play this kind of role as an actress is very hard. In the scene where Lee jae Ha is held hostage, and she has to fight to suppress the enemy, in such a action scene, other actors may be awkward, but Ha Ji Won is convincing in terms of expression, movement, and the eye. As a North Korean military officer, she even lovingly speaks the North Korean dialect in the drama, she is a character that shows unique charm.

On the other hand, Ha Ji Won plays the role of Hyun Jung Hwa in the movie “Korea” (As One), which is a completely different character from the role in “The King 2 Hearts”. In the movie “Korea”, she is the table tennis player, participating in double match in collaboration with Lee Boon Hee (Bae Doo Na), and is the consensus of people in Korea. The reason Ha Ji Won was recommended for the role of Hyun Jung Hwa is that she has a strong spirit just like Hyung Jung Hwa. In the film, merely through the shouting of “Go for it” such a brief words can show the strong willpower of her.

In the movie “Korea”, Ha Ji Won plays the role of Hyun Jung Hwa. In the film, table tennis player needs to show a strong emotional turmoil, making people feel sad. So far, her films and her personally give people a strong impression, the body is full of warm and delicate femininity.

Why recently Ha Ji Won keep starring in the subject that is related to North Korea and South Korea relationship? This is just an action of Ha Ji Won to benefit as a real actress. The tense confrontation can show the most the inner warm that hidden inside Ha Ji Won. There may be misunderstanding to her as the unification of North Korea and South Korea is everyone’s wish.

Yeah. I like HJW since SG. Thought she acted well together with Hyun Bin and started to like her. Was so happy she got got on screen best couple award in SBS award cermeony in 2010. She also won the top excellence award as a actress for the same show in 2010. She has this charisma and aegyo in her that she is hard to resist. She exercises a lot and portray as a heroine in most of her roles.

Do u know she does sit up everyday in one of the SG's interview? If I dun rem wrongly, is abt 50-100 tries. Wow..
Amazing lady who exhibits sheer perseverance and is a role model for us to follow.

Now I starting to fall in love with LSG. He's so awesome in his acting as his role as a prince and king. Never watch his show before. Was skeptical about this cougar couple when I learnt abt tk2h. Now I have to eat my words cos they exhibit good sizzling chemistry on screen as a couple and I enjoy their bickering initially in the 1st half of show as well as their lovey- dovey in the 2nd half.

Never been this crazy to join a forum to comment on kdrama. Never.. My past favourite dramas that I watched and rewatch are coffee prince, Samsoon and secret garden though I hv also watch others too. Think the next drama I would be watching is BIG..hehe

I can continue to talk a lot more on this tk2h on their acting and the different distinct characters portrayed and of how this drama depicts the tension between the NK and SK etc etc for the next 2 weeks..

CAN we ask the hong sisters to write a sequel????
Who's for it? I will raise up hands and legs and hairs to show my support. Haha

LOL. You're not the only one. If they're taking pre-orders for this drama, I'd be on that list already (as would a lot of people in this thread).

My first ever DVD set is Secret Garden ;). They can get pretty expensive but amazon sometimes have a great deal on kdrama dvds.

Me lol. I've bought lots of the Director's Cut DVDs for a lot of series in the past. Good news is that right now the TK2H Korean fans are gathering names for a Director's Cut DVD set. The fan response seem to be really good, so the chances of this series getting one is good :) I'm hoping for a Director's Cut DVD too, or DVD set with some specials and stuff, like NGs and BTS, included. I'll definitely be buying one if it's confirmed.

This drama has had me contemplating how much do the writers/PD contribute to these little skinship gestures. Never before...

I remember during the neck kiss he'd ad-libbed and laid down behind her and the PD pulled him away. HAA!! Seung-gi's soo cheeky. Love it!! This guy is killing me...I can't take it anymore.

Jade Butterfly: this boy's been a noona-killer for the get go. Didn't he debut with a 'noona' song or something...

0

LSG is so innocent still - i think he was coached to do that or LSG really studied , which i don't doubt, for those scenes.

0

i'm just going to believe it's seung gi's little way to show affection -- thumb caressing... since he seems to do that alot.
I mean i can see the Director telling him to do it in a certain scene but if he's doing it all the time in those little moments, perhaps it really is his little adlib

0

It's such a sexy and hot thing to do. Woo, shivers up and down just thinking about it. I'm sure director didn't propose that. I wouldn't be surprise if SG did it on his own... Really sense something is up.

0

woahhhh, I'll have to go back and watch these two scenes. Didn't even notice!

The thumb caressing: wonder if it is a Jae-ha/LSG/writer-PD thing?

IF it's a LSG thing....mad props to him!!

I hope the writers would not kill any more of the good guys.

Having said that, (I can't believe I'm gonna say this) but IF there's a possibility that either Jae Ha or Hang Ah will die towards the end, I'd rather they BOTH die so no one leaves the other behind. (Self, did you just say that?) *incredulous stare to self in the mirror*

I don't think I can bear to see either one going through life without the other by his/her side (knowing the depth of their love for each other). It would just be so devastating to witness that (for me, at least. not to mention, that I'll be in a pissy-somber mood for a year ).

In the event that it happens like that, the Princess can ascend the throne with Shi Kyung by her side. And Jae Ha's & Hang Ah's legacy will be a long period of peace due to Jae Ha and Hang Ah's sacrifice (of defeating Bong Gu and his cohorts of evil). That way, both our pairings are intact, one in this life and the other in the after life (Er, 49 days?).

Certainly would not be happy about it and most likely will bawl my eyes out until the cows come home if that should ever happen.

Am I the only one optimistic seeing the preview ?! I feel like the slap is maybe after the video call to JH.. It seems to me that HA's "I want to live.." is totally fake and maybe she will say something to JH like NEVER surrender to BG and that's why he slapped her! NEVER would it be HA to cry and say to JH that she wants to live.. !
I think HA ask for the video call and then told JH to be stronger and not surrender to BG and then we see her be BADASS again!!! LOVE THAT! Killing the guards and Queen Mother saying "lets get out of here, like you said".. I think she will find a way to escape and then that's the secret BG wants to keep from JH. He doesn't seem pleased about it so that could be HA and QM's escape..

What happened to JS!?!? Why is she hurt and restrained in her bed?! Did she remember and try to hurt herself because she was scared or something ? And SK crying silently next to her.. HEARTBREAKING!!!

Can't wait for wednesday!!! Aaah!! :) :)

Required fields are marked *

no worries. i think the attack is after everything. here's why.. after the assistant know that HA is willing to cooperate to persuade JH, he would definitely inform BG and BG would IMMEDIATELY set up a call with JH and i think HA's smart enough not to attack then cos obviously they would predict it and there'll be tons of people there. if she does, she's soo.. not smart. Anyway, there'll be the call with JH and HA will act all.. "I want to live.." since BG's watching.. when BG leaves (though still keeping an eye on them), she turns round and tell him not to give up, etc. then, BG walks in and slaps her.. hence, JH shouts for Hang Ah! After a series of events, HA finally executes her plan for escape and they all escape. And then, BG will ask his assistant.. "JH doesnt know yet right? Conserve the secret". So yeah!! that's what i get from trying to piece it all together (from Prev 1 and 2). Hopefully i'm right. I'd like to think so or I'll die before Wed. trust me. haha ;)

Oh as for JS, idk. but the fact that they showed her bandaged wound seem to suggest that she tried to commit suicide?

I think Hang Ah is trying to spur Jae Ha into action.

She figures if she just sits tight Jae Ha would agree to do what BG wants in order to save them. She is willing to be defiant to turn the table around. If she fails and gets hurt or even killed, Jae Ha would be so motivated to avenge for her. My guess is she is thinking as the fearless soldier Hang Ah, not as the beloved future queen of Jae Ha.

Now the disclaimer (like someone did it earlier): all speculations, no guarantee whatsoever; believe it at your own risk. Hahaha. And you can laugh too!

I have to thank DB and all my fellow hearties for providing such an entertaining forum to express our thoughts, feelings and general all around love for our favorite drama TK2H. I have never before felt the need to openly say how much I am enjoying a show, but somehow watching TK2H has provided many hours of downright fangirl pleasure. I don't know what is happening to me. Have I entered Kdrama Twilight Zone?

I absolutely adore this show. I thought the lap scene was full of emotion and beautifully acted by our AhHa couple. When HA rested her head on his arm....just another gem of a gesture. Wonderful stuff!

The one sour note that somewhat grated on me was when HA extended her hand to BG for a handshake, which was totally ignored by BG. I don't think she should have even considered giving him that courtesy. She should have ignored him. Just a thought.......

Required fields are marked *

My thinking is that since Hang Ah is well schooled in special forces training, maybe she learned the best way to behave in a hostage situation is to make it personal, put a name to your own face, and make direct, personal contact with the hostage takers. This way the hostage is not just an abstract thing like bargaining chips, but real human beings. This is all part of psychological warfare. I am sure the gesture is lost on BG. But it did shake him up a little bit. Because it was so unexpected. I say it is a good move on Hang Ah's part. Especially now she has so little arsenal she can use.

0
reply

Required fields are marked *

Actually I thought HA's offer of a handshake was so cool. IMO, she was trying to convey, yes, she knows who he is but she doesn't give a s..t! He doesn't scare her.

Bong Gu was probably hoping to find both queens quaking in their boots. But when HA extended her hand, he was a little thrown off/pissed and didn't quite know how to react.

In that, HA reminded me of JH who also always refused to give Bong Gu the satisfaction of an anticipated reaction.

Required fields are marked *

Actually , I think Bonggu has a complex about his real name , Kim Bonggu . I think he hates that name. Probably , reminds of a deprived childhood & parents who were absentee parents .Remember JaeHa said that he remembered him as KBG at the 1st or 2nd meet .Although , he is more popularly known as John Mayer ,JH used it derogatorily & always seems to practically spit it out . JaeShin also used that name to irk him when she went to Jeju summit. I think that when HangAh used that name instead of J Mayer , Bonggu took it as an insult. He probably thinks that she, who is from the North *he looked like he wanted to snort* & never knew him from his youth , hasn't the history ,like Jk & JH to used it. Just my thought .

@ Babes & Jade Butterfly: What you said, exactly. Hang-ah's not shaking Bong-gu's hand to be polite, but to say, essentially, "You may be rich and crazy, but you do not have the upper hand in this situation and I'm not afraid of you." She was essentially doing what Jae-ha does every time he's with Bong-gu (except when his precious loved ones are in danger): undermining Bong-gu's authority and belittling his sense of superiority. To a megalomaniac like Bong-gu, who revels in the power he has over other people, to have a woman he just kidnapped look him in the eye with no fear and extend her hand, WHILE calling him by the humdrum name that he hates, that's pretty ballsy.

My thought exactly!

During the scene, I think the emphasize it's in 'Kim Bong Gu', the shake hand is actually just a 'manner-despite-despise-bong gu' and our Hang Ah intend to show her calm and fearless personality.

I love your explanation, Tom Riddle's voldemort! No explanation better than this :)

Exactly! She was all polite and casual to really piss him off because he would have preferred cowering and submissive. By acting like they were just meeting at an everyday event with no fear in her eye and even a mocking, well-met-ole-fella-with-the-stupid-common-name look, Hang Ah delivered a put down that he could not match without looking like a bigger tool.

Actually, it also reminded me the first time she met JaeHa and he did the same exact thing as what BongGu did...except that JaeHa is more cuter than BongGu and HangAh revealed that she knows about the mole on his butt :D

yes, I also saw that. Writers are so smart in portraying their similiarities so subtly.

Oh....I had forgotten that scene. So clever of the writers to show how JH and BG are so alike and yet very different.

Thanks to all of you hearties for such insightful explanations!

Not sure whether anyone has raised this before, but don't you guys think we should THANK MR KIM BONG GU? :D

If not for him, Jaeha and Hangah might not even get together.

Just sayin x)

Soon Wednesday will be here. Then , Next Wed & Thursday...will be THE END . URRRGHH .
Saw on 'Win Win' that HJW said tt she dsn't have much of a life outside of preparing & staying 'In character' when she's doing a movie or drama .Its just work & home .
She said she genuinely feels the feelings required of her character. SO , I guess ,after this lovable show , poor HJW will have to try to un-love her sweet King & loving husband JaeHa. While , LSG will have it better cos he'd be busy preparing for his June concert in Tokyo. That'll help to shift his focus back to reality , without
darling wife HangAh/ Noona crush . Awwww. Sad.
What about us ? We'll need to check into a K2H Rehab Centre to help us cope wt seperation anxiety & void left behind by K2H's goodbye .
I'm wondering when I can start to get sick of watching K2H so that I can get started on my Rehab process ! I'm watching it for the nth time & no where near sick of it. How ?? Hahahaha!

Hahaha! Lets suggest on LSG's website that its the gentlemanly thing to do, to reward his screen wife with a free airticket & front row seat to his Budokan concert. Its only proper to gift Noona who had to be the recipient of his 'ardentness' .He's known to be very generous to people who work with him .

now that you've mentioned it, I wonder, since their chemistry here is totally and extremely wonderful, will they feel an empty space after it ends? I mean, come on, they've been working together *and working here includes a passionate fridge kissing, hugging, etc* like for months...

Seunggi, just give your noona/wifey on screen a ticket to your concert! *oh how I love to see them together in this drama and dont want to see it ends*

Un-loving the lovable ( Jiwon & Seunggi)is mighty difficult.

Someone had mentioned many moons ago that HJW mentioned in an interview that she lives vicariously through her characters.

So, during the engagement interview when she mentioned that the proposal was the most memorable thing I aww'ed! Somebody needs to put a ring on her already!! Or are those Korean men intimidated of her (i.e. if she's not already dating!)

In about a week they'll be done filming and makes me wonder how the two will separate their reel and real lives!! *bummed* [ponders some more abt HJW's statement that she cries just looking at LSG's emotive eyes]

can they not separate their reel and real lives? they look so good together and seems like they're really compatible. Words are not cast in stone so I'm still hoping that when Seung Gi said that he can date a girl older than him but the max is 5 years, he'd just say HJW changed his mind. *squee*

Ha....I was listening to this song last summer and immediately falling in love with seunggi's tender yet powerful voice to deliver the song which originally has such a high note. I also really like Kim Kyung Ho's version (the original singer). Until now, both are still in my mp3 :D

There are really some amazing fanvids out there. This series is JaeHa-centric and are really worth a look (or two)
