The upcoming cop-loses-memory-and-thinks-he’s-a-thug romantic-comedy drama (phew, that’s a mouthful) Haeundae Lovers now has its love triangle, with the addition of Jung Seok-won (Rooftop Prince, Ojakkyo Brothers) to the mix. He’ll challenge Kim Kang-woo (aforementioned amnesiac) for the affections of Jo Yeo-jung, a mobster’s daughter—and to play off the whole which-side-of-the-law-are-you-on? question, he’s a lawyer. Oh yeah, and also a hotel vice president. Is he also a diplomat? Because why be ONE perfect, wealthy Daddy Long Legs when you can be two? (Or three?)
This role will take Jung in a slightly different direction image-wise, since he’s going to be the cold, ambitious businessman this time around. His driving force behind the takeover of a hotel in Haeundae, Busan, is to win Daddy’s recognition—what would dramaland be without a withholding father figure?—but I imagine his plans’ll run into a hitch when he comes across the Seoul cop and his love interest.
Jung does have the outward appearance to fit the “cold city man” cliche, though I’ll miss his silly, comic side; he’s got a pretty good deadpan, and solid wry timing as well. And after Rooftop Prince, I’ll never be able to see him as anything other than a Zoolander. ‘Cause… just look at that face:
Haeundae Lovers will film entirely in Haeundae and replaces Big as a Monday-Tuesday drama starting August 13.

But he was a little silly in that role too, so I liked him. But yes, it was almost the same type of role,lol.

Would love him to be the lead in something!! I actually loved his character and bromance with Jung Gyu Woon in Dr. Champ! Also recently watched Creating Destiny and he was one of my favorite characters! Loved him in Rooftop prince, showed a new to me side of his acting.

Awww its the Blue ranger with the best ass in Joseon. I liked him in Midas and RTP. Although I hate the chaebol jackass type Jung is the exception to the rule.
Ji Jin hee may have something to say about that (while not a Joseon era show, see “He/The Man Who Can’t Get Married” for actual shots of JJH’s GM (which is an excellent series).

Jung Seok-won as one of the Joseon Power Rangers was the best thing about RTP (the way he clapped his hands was still funny, the 10th time around), and one of the few things that saved RTP from being in my rom-com basement.
JSW would be perfect as the male lead in a romcom like “My Princess.”
