Lee Min-ho on the set of Faith

You know, my great love for Lee Min-ho notwithstanding, I wasn’t entirely sure he’d be the best representative for Mane of Glory-hood, even though he’s rocked some unconventional hairstyles in the past. But I needn’t have worried, because these latest photos have been released from the set of Faith, his upcoming fusion medical sageuk drama, and he’s looking well at ease with his head of pretty, pretty hair. See how it falls in wavelets, every strand in place to look effortlessly perfect?

(As far as I’m concerned, nobody can top Jung Il-woo’s mane o’ glory, mostly ’cause his was genuine and a wig just can’t compete. Although I’d argue Kim Bum’s Padam hair comes close. And wouldn’tcha know, the three of them just happen to be super-tight BFFs? Maybe they’ve got some sort of hair-secret-keeping requirement to be friends. Perhaps accompanied by secret handshake, only it’s a secret hairflip instead. How much do I wish this were true?)

In Faith, Lee Min-ho stars as a Goryeo-era bodyguard to the king. He’s described as smart, naive, and also a bit quirky, which is a mix of traits I’m already liking. Let’s see how the simple warrior fares against the 21st-century plastic surgeon (Kim Hee-sun) who gets kidnapped and brought 700 years in the past (she’s taken for her healing skills), since they’ll clash for a while before falling in love. The first several photos on this page were taken earlier this month in southern Kyunggi province at the Haeyang drama set.

I know we’ve pretty much maxed out on time-traveling fusion sageuks, and I could certainly go a long while before seeing another one. BUT! Faith has long been on my radar because of its production pedigree: Song Jin-ah wrote one of my favorites, Story of a Man (a taut, suspenseful thriller with caper elements), as well as Legend (epic fusion historical) and Sandglass (epic, period), while PD Kim Jong-hak directed Legend and Sandglass.

This drama has been most closely compared to Dr. Jin for its medical-sageuk similarities (and Jin sued for it), but I’m thinking it’ll be miles apart in execution. Dr. Jin is really a failure of directing, because even when the acting and writing are doing their best, the ham-handed direction drags everything down into a muddle of uneven tone, strange editing cuts, and inappropriate musical cues. With Faith, I have a lot more, well, faith that execution will meet a baseline level of competence. And probably far exceed it. *knocks wood*

Faith will be a Monday-Tuesday series on SBS adn premieres in August.

So is this the last of the time-travel dramas???

What will the next genre-fad in drama-land be??
I hope it's not medical dramas o__o;

Unless, it's about the hard knock life of dentists, I am not in.

Be still my heart! A mane of glory, hot sageuk warrior outfit (Give me a slender warrior type with a sharp long sword and I am happy --nay, dare l say it?-- fulfilled!!!!!), naive/quirky/smart!

AND IT's time-travel and a romance as well. Oh heavens!!!! Two more months! I can hold out. I can hold out. Heart, we can hold on till Faith arrives! Joy and bliss await me!

I'm totally digging the saguek hair, but then againthe man can do no wrong in my eyes.LOL. Sure, I might mentally cringe at some of his fashion decisions, but then my heart leaps in joy with every curly-haired, skin-tight pink panted, sockless boat shoe wearing faux pas.

The rational part of me knows it looks ridiculous, but the fangirl keeps saying "OOOOH!! Look how pretty his ankles are in those pink highwaters!!! Hey, in that scene from City Hunter where he's shot and hiding at the vet's.. isn't that a woman's lace shirt he's wearing? Who the hell wears lace to spoon-assault someone?? Yay! You go, Trendsetter!!!"

He is just too fricken' pretty for me to mock for long. I mean, sure.. I might snicker a bit... but I eventually come around and go back to daydreaming of marrying him on that tropical island from BOF (real men can wear rose-printed shirts, okay?) and having tiny asian babies.

Since @Javabeans brought up the bromance between Min-ho, Bummie, and Il-woo I feel its ok to go off topic a little.

How GREAT would it be if the three of them where to do a show together. Something kind of like The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry, but three boys instead of girls, and more comedy than drama. I was thinking about what my perfect k-drama would be the other day and this is what came to my head. Maybe have Jung So-min and Park Shin-hye as love interests.

Its a work and progress :)

I think they could do a funny korean version of the Burbs really well. Of course I guess that would be a movie and not a drama.

I've joked that I'll write a Korean remake of Baywatch for the three of them, set on Jeju so they can be shirtless 90% of the time on camera.

If they had to do another time travel I wish that they had done it old dark shadows style, where there was a family curse placed in the past by a witch and they had to lift the curse or something.
More medical, blah. So boring.

Unnies...I may finally see the appeal. I just needed a mane of glory and period clothing to make it happen.

Lee Min Ho is brave enough to take up the challenge and venture into a sageuk. He did indicate during interviews that he wants to work very hard to pay back the love showered upon him by his many, many fans worldwide. Instead of doing a 'safe' common love drama, he is actually taking a career risk to go for something so different. Bravo! Lee Min Ho. You have earned not only my admiration but also my respect. Good luck to a young Korean actor with zeal, zest and guts to move forward in all directions of the competitive entertainment industry.
Daebak to "Faith."!

i'm not sure if i shud be excited about this drama. i think the whole time traveling plots becoming a bit cliche. lee min ho's my #2 fav actor but he needs to prove himself as a good actor. hopefully he redeems himself in faith because i was a bit disappointed with personal taste and city hunter.

I actually like the hair, and I was worried about that too. I am big fan of LMH, but after the Mane of Shame that Yoochun had in RTP, I was so scared it would turn out this way for LMH too.

I like both manly and girly boys, so either suit me.

Not digging the hair. LMH has such an adorable yet comical gait, I giggle every time. I am tuning in just to watch this hot Goryeo-era warrior stomping around.

He looks so damn pretty! I can't wait to watch this! I was considering Dr. Jin but I keep hearing bad things about it so I guess I'll just hold out for this one! :)

I especially love the night time photograph
of Lee Min-ho in a costume from centuries ago,
surrounded by modern-day skyscrapers.

It reminds me of the closing scene of dreams
of the future.........."Return of Iljimae," anybody?

Looking forward to seeing this, but does
anybody know why it's being called "Faith?"

Faith and The greatest doctor share the same word in korean. This drama have little to do medical stuff because a plastic surgeon can't really do anything in ancient Goryeo.

whether LMH's hair is long or real in this Faith series, i don't care. It's just that I want to see him again in another serial movies aside from the two that I have seen---City Hunter and Boys Over Flowers. So far, I have watched few scenes which are not bad at all and it makes me very anxious and impatient to see the next episodes. good luck for another great LMH tv series.
