Kim Nam-joo and Kim Seung-woo for Marie Claire

I know I say this a lot, but damn does this couple take a good picture. Here’s my favorite power couple, Kim Nam-joo and Kim Seung-woo, in a spread for Marie Claire being gorgeous and stunning as per usual. In the article featuring Kim Nam-joo, she describes herself as a person who can’t turn off her thoughts–she thinks about her kids at work and thinks about work at home. She still calls Kim Seung-woo “oppa,” and says that dating was great, early marriage was hard, and that they’ve come back around to a really happy place, as each other’s best friends.

The queen of housewives, reversals, and ratings has another runaway hit drama currently airing on the weekends, the cumbersomely-titled You Who Rolled Into My Life, lately hovering near the 40% mark. She says, “When I was young I thought about what my life would be like at this age. I thought that I wouldn’t still be working. I thought I’d be pushed out of leading roles, and that my immature pride wouldn’t endure that. But like flowing water, I’ve come to where I am now.”

She brags freely about what a good husband and father Kim Seung-woo is, which isn’t a surprise, given the fact that they’re known for being that uber-supportive couple who cameos in each other’s dramas and talk shows at every opportunity. She says that they’ve had rough patches and had a harsh transition as newlyweds when she got pregnant early on, but have developed a support system in each other by sharing their problems over a drink and cheering each other on.

Seung-woo: “I think we do one of these shoots about once a year or so. When I look at my wife wearing such fancy clothes and makeup, I feel like I’m looking at a celebrity. (Laughs.) But at home I’m looking at my woman.” Nam-joo: “At home he’s a reliable dad. That dependability shows through directly. But this Kim Seung-woo-sshi here is a natural actor. Even if it’s a photo shoot I can feel him acting. I really want to act in a project with him someday.”

She’s comfortable calling herself an ajumma and talking about her two children, and the difficulty of having to split her time as a working mom. “It’s so hard. When I don’t have a project and I’m just with my kids at home, I feel nervous. I think, ‘Can I just be here like this?’ But then when I start a project I feel like I’m not properly taking care of my children. When I go here I think of there, and when I’m there I worry about here.”

While Wife has been the reigning queen of dramaland, Hubby has developed a full-fledged variety persona in recent years, changing it up from Stoic Actor to Talk Show MC, and most recently on 1 Night 2 Days, to Hilarious Petty Ajusshi and a warm father figure who isn’t afraid to be ribbed for his age. Seung-woo: “I think showing an easygoing side of myself isn’t a bad thing at my age. Truthfully many people around me told me not to [join 1N2D]. But an adventure and a challenge are happy things. … If I continue to work hard as an actor, I think I can be a young father. Physically I’m old but at heart I’m a young dad.”

When asked about their relationship, Seung-woo said, “I want things to be exactly as they are now. But do you know that that’s a really big dream? Time continues to flow but wanting this moment not to change can be a selfish thing. So that means I have to work just as hard to keep it.” Nam-joo: “I want my husband to always think of me as a friend like he does now — to be the first person he thinks of when he wants to confide in someone.”

Took the words straight out of my mouth! :)

Also, now number 1 on my wishlist for my future husband to say: "...at home I’m looking at my woman." Whaaaaa, so cute!

Now if I could somehow convince Yang Seungho to marry me... :)

I would like to comment about all the nice things they say to each other.

But my only thoughts are... damn that is a fine fine looking woman there. Wow. Look at her or is her clothes.

Oh and ahjusshi... you're so cute. Their words about each other, it's great that they sound like an established couple comfortable with each other.

"But my only thoughts are… damn that is a fine fine looking woman there." That is exactly what I thought. I loved their honesty and sincerity but I was deeply distracted by how fine she was looking. She 'wears' her clothes, so that she adds much to their beauty rather than the other way around. A certain grace suffuses her and I just can't believe she is a mother of two. It puts me to shame.

Also, I want those shoes in the penultimate pic.

Wonderful couple, I wish them much prosperity.

LOL My first thought as I looked at the pictures (before I read the article) was, "Damn, that woman can rock a pair of shoes!"

These two are just a cute couple. I'll bet it's a blast being their kid.

She is SO good in 'Unexpected You' (another title - it has about eleventy!), sassy, sexy, down-to-earth- and smart.
She's a pleasure to watch and I'm loving this long-episoded? Kdrama. Of course. CN Blue's cutie-pie Min Hyuk doesn't hurt the eyes, either.

Seung-woo takes an exceptionally fine pic, and what a thoughtful, sweet and honest article from the two of them.
As someone who's been married MANY moons, I totally agree that your mate should be your best friend and first 'go-to'.

Aww.... what a fantastic couple. So happy for them! I hope they keep the easygoing & supportive realtionship they have now. Nice to see them as a real couple working at their marriage & family just like everyone else. Her photo shoot was gorgeous and their interview comments are full of "warm fuzzies". Yay! :-D

P.S. Is it just me or does Seung Woo look like UhmTae Woong's twin?

DANG! She is just smoking whenever I see her. I can't get over it. It's my dream to look that good at her age. And he cleans up good. I keep forgetting he's actually quite attractive lol. I blame 1N2D.

I love their relationship. I just hope what they are saying is true. I tend not to put to much trust in stuff like this so I'm hoping they are happy and content.

Yes it is. I don't know if I want to commit to watching 50 episodes, though. Even though I saw a few clips and it looked good. :)
Is there anyone who watching it currently who can tell me how it is, the plot summary (if you can even call it that just says something about her character having to deal with problems in her marriage?

Feather,

50 episodes sound a lot, but it's easy to breeze through them. I don't know if I can summarize it properly b/c there are many characters and each of them have their own storyline, but the main story is about the marriage between Yoon-Hee and Gwi-Nam (who is a Korean adoptee) and her relationship with his family. I think the issues are compelling and although they're also serious, the writer and actors are able to make the whole drama very light hearted and funny. I'm up to episode 37 and I haven't felt like the pacing is slow or each storyline is dragging on too long.

And compared to Lee Jong Hyun in A Gentleman's Dignity, Kang Min Hyuk is awesome in Unexpected You. He has so many facial expressions and doesn't mind looking and acting like a dork.

On a totally different topic, I really want to see Kim Nam-joo in a Sageuk or play an assassin of some sort!

Yeah, 50 episodes is a lot, but I think I went through the first 25 or so after I caught it on KBSWorld. It's cute, funny, and heart-warming with really endearing characters so I think you should at least give it a shot.

Basically, KNJ's character marries her ideal man, a successful orphan, but then he finds his real family so now she has to deal with her new in-laws and boy does she have a lot of them. There's a LOT of characters, each with their own storyline, so I can't go into all of it, but at 37 subbed episodes, it hasn't dragged yet so I can see why its ratings are so high.

That's what KBS World calls it, but I have come across the other two titles, too. My parents and I watch the show together on weekends!

PS While I'm here, I loved the photos and interview excerpts. The dynamic between the couple is amazing. I know Seung-woo mostly from 1N2D so it's wonderful to get to know the non-variety side of him.

They look amazing together! This is a couple to look up to. They admit that their first year of marriage was hard but they got through it to the point where they completely trust each other. When a couple agrees on the fact that their partner is their best friend, you know they succeeded in their marriage and will live happily ever after.

Woah, is her drama that good? It got like, I think, around 20% ratings from the first episode! Amazing. It's hard these days for drama to reach that high, but from the first ep!

How is 1N2D season 2 doing in the ratings anyway?

From the title: My Husband Got a Family, I thought it was going to be another one of those revenge drama where the husband cheats and has another family or something. LOL

They're just sizzling hot. But even if I'm a girl, I totally fine Kim Namjoo the hotter of the two, just because girl is working it. Kim Seungwoo is just the ahjusshi from 1N2D for me now. He can't escape that persona anymore in my mind. XD

i love her latest drama!!! i usually don't go in for the weekend family fare because they seem to fall a bit in terms of quality, with some of them having decidedly makjang elements. so this one was a real surprise in terms of quality- it feels like a romantic comedy/family drama snowballed into one. and the stellar cast certainly helps- top veteran actors and appealing younger actors. really quality family drama in my opinion. it's been my absolute favorite watch ever since it started airing in february. definitely recommend!

and i'll admit, i also love watching to check out kim nam-joo's fashion- she's got a great sense of style, or a fab stylist.

I still remember the news ariticle about (bitter) KSW's divorce from YiMiYeon (female lead of Merchant Kim Man Deok) years ago. I remember that was more of a shock to KSW. Who could imagine that (down and out?) KSW would come out as a winner like this - having such a beautiful wife and kids. Life is really.. you never know.
