Posters and stills for Haeundae Lovers

Maybe I can’t help but love any of Jo Yeo-jung’s characters, but how can you not feel solidarity with a girl who turns Kim Kang-woo into the catch of the day? Reel him in! Upcoming Monday-Tuesday romantic comedy Haeundae Lovers has released its posters, opting for a strong comic vibe for the couple who will meet and fall in love despite being on opposite sides of the law.

I can’t say that I love the second poster’s Titanic shenanigans as much as Kim Kang-woo being strung up in a fishing net, but it is amusing how the lovers are having their cheesy moment aboard a tiny fishing boat crammed full with the rest of the cast. The supporting cast includes Nam Gyuri as Kim Kang-woo’s fiancée pre-amnesia turnaround, Jung Seok-won as the heir to the big hotel at the center of the story (so that would make him the baddie’s son) and a lawyer who will compete for the heroine’s affections, and Kang Min-kyung as the hotel boss’ secretary with her sights set on Jung Seok-won.

The setup: Kim Kang-woo’s hotshot prosecutor chases a lead on a case all the way down to Busan, where he goes undercover as a mobster to infiltrate the crime organization in Haeundae. But while undercover, he gets into an accident that causes amnesia… which means the identity he recovers is the fake one. Jo Yeo-jung plays Go Sora, a mobster’s daughter, but hers is a decidedly different kind of mob family.

Dad was certainly the big boss once upon a time, but lost the big hotel in a battle with the villain, and suffers a brain injury of his own. He’s now a burden on his family, but he’s also Sora’s reason for living. He still has a few loyal men–Sora’s three uncles who have remained beside her father despite his losing everything. I have a feeling this uncle-and-dad foursome is going to be the best thing about this drama.

Sora is a plucky, no-nonsense heroine who makes her own way in the world, running her own fishing boat and slicing the heads off of fish with frightening precision. She’s a penny-pincher and a diehard baseball fan (a commonality among most Busan inhabitants). She only shuts down shop on game days, takes care of Dad on her own, and swears that she will never EVER EVER marry a mob man. Ever.

Enter Kim Kang-woo. Woot!

The 16-episode Haeundae Lovers premieres next Monday on KBS.

I haven't seen the main couple in anything before, but from the premise and posters it seems like my kind of drama so I'll watch.

I`m so sick of this plucky, penny-pinching kdrama heroine already - such a tired cliche. I don`t think I can stand one more minute of it, not even for Kim Kang-woo.

Did she have a love interest in Life is Beautiful? But to be fair, she died in 49 Days so ...that's done for. :D I do feel sorry for her character in this drama already. Really hope she's one of those secondary female lead though. Maybe I'll feel a bit less sorry.

I hope it maintains the comedic angle until the end and not turn TOO angsty.

Who knew that 1n2d would be educational? I remember the boise doing a Busan trip and baseball was the highlight of their trip.

Really looking forward to this drama. Ever since I saw Jung Suk Won in Creating Destiny, I've been a fan. :) Even though he's not a main lead, that's one of the parts I'm looking forward to the most. I've only seen Jo Yeo Jung in I Need Romance, but I'm really looking forward to see her performance as well. Plus, if that's not enough reason to watch it, the premise is hilarious. :)

This whole having a fiance pre amnesia and then ending up in an unknown place where the Guy falls in love with the lead girl sounds a lot like the T drama "the prince who turns into a frog".
Besides that i think it will be a fun watch...will check it out!

You're right! I never did getting around to watching "The Prince Who Turns Into A Frog" but I know the premise.

I do love me a good rom-com :). I'm in for this one.

And it's nice to see Jung Seok Won looking nice and fresh and well... alive... (a nod to White Christmas watchers).

Oh how awkward, I just saw her breasts in The Concubine. I forgot about this drama. It was the same thing when I started watching Song Ji-hyo on Running Man.
