Giveaway hootenanny: CDs and OSTs!

It’s a giveaway! It’s a hootenanny! It’s a giveaway hootenanny!

Here’s the shortened version of how this giveaway came to be: gummimochi says, “Hey, I have this CD I want to give away to fans to celebrate my anniversary with Dramabeans,” and we says, “That’s a great idea, let’s steal it and give away LOTS of stuff, because as we know, more is always better!”

So we’re giving away OSTs, one from each of us, just to say thanks for being you, and for sharing our neverending love of all things kdrama.

Rules:

Leave a comment here (with your real email address!), explaining why you’d like to win the CD of your choice. Maybe this was your favorite drama EVAR, or maybe you really want that disc to use for dart practice. Whatever floats your boat. You may enter for any or all of the CDs (separate comment per entry, please), but be sure to specify which particular one you are addressing.

Note that winners will NOT be picked in a random selection; each of us will choose one winner, to be announced next week. Meet back here on Sunday, August 12, for results!

SHINee’s “Sherlock”

gummimochi:

This time one year ago, I could never have imagined that I would be able to share my everlasting love for variety, drama, and pop music to a beautiful you. Putting all those together, I’ve chosen SHINee’s new mini-album, “Sherlock.”

Min-ho will be headlining the upcoming drama, To the Beautiful You, where he needs to be clued in that a he might be a she. Not like it takes Sherlock Holmes-esque detective skills to figure that out though, but hey – this is kdrama-land.

You’ve Fallen For Me OST

kaedejun:

Time flies when you’re having fun! It feels like yesterday when I wrote my first recap, and I can still remember that experience. 12 recaps and 2 years later, I’m still living through that experience – which I’ll never forget – thanks to Dramabeans, where discussion, fan-girling (or fan-guying), and sharing flow through like streams of consciousness during the lazy days of summer. Speaking of summer – this is why I’ve chosen the You’ve Fallen For Me OST. Its OST makes me think of sunshine, happiness, sunflowers, and daisies. Really. And it features CN Blue’s Jung Yong-hwa and Kang Min-hyuk, which is one of my few favorite bands (second to the almighty Big Bang). So I hope you enjoy it as much as I have, and live this summer out as carefree and happily as the students of You’ve Fallen For Me. I’ll see you at the beach!

Chuno OST

HeadsNo2:

This is a soundtrack near and dear to my heart, not only because Chuno will always remain one of my all time favorite dramas, but because it also represents one of my favorite aspects of dramas and Dramabeans – the ability to bring people together. By melding history with modern sensibilities, it’s a drama that broke ground and appealed to a mass audience, whether they were seasoned sageuk lovers or complete newbies to the genre. No matter what our favorite genre is, we all look for stories with the ability to move us, to transport us to another world, to be thought-provoking, to give us a reason to want to gather and share our thoughts, our experiences, and our love of community. One hundred posts later, I’ve definitely come to treasure the discussion that happens here and all the wonderful insights I’ve learned from our time together, and hope you can enjoy a soundtrack that moved and inspired me as much as I did, if not more. Oh, and ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥.

Shut Up: Flower Boy Band OST

javabeans:

There are a lot of reasons for me to single out Shut Up: Flower Boy Band, like the fact that it remains, more than halfway through 2012, the drama that touched my heart the most this year. Other dramas had the big twists, the high drama, the epic conflicts, and the quirky high concepts—but Shut Up, despite its small world and small stories, had for me the sincerest connection with emotion and angst. The people felt real and the drama was fueled by that pounding, aching, fluttering and sometimes raging heart that drove its characters.

But you know what? All that aside, Shut Up: Flower Boy Band had awesome music. It had the deftest way of working its music into the plot, effectively making its soundtrack a running storyline like it was a character of its own. So there.

The King 2 Hearts OST

girlfriday:

An epic drama that managed to steal my heart in an epic way. The King 2 Hearts swept me up in its tense action, side-splitting comedy and sweet romance at every turn, and the score played a big part in keeping me enraptured in that world. It’s also a drama that reminded me of the fervor of fandom — you guys made the crazy train fun (also crazy), and I was happy to come along for the ride. This OST probably marks those few months in time — the OMG WHAT HAPPENS NEXT crack addiction — as much as the drama itself. Here’s to love in the DMZ, and sharing good dramas with friends from around the globe. Cheers.

Shut up flower boy band~~~
i'd like to win this because it was by far the best drama that deals with conflicts not seen in every day dramas. I found the songs really catchy and fitting to the drama especially the chemistry and bromance between the characters :)

I would love to have the You've Fallen for Me OST. There is one specific song that resonated with what I was going through when the show was still going on. Besides that, I just love the drama itself. I love both actors themselves.

King 2 Hearts please, my favourite drama of the year, and the one that kept me going through my first university exam period. So full of heart and cuteness and a tiny dab of bitter reality (and Adorable Bot-Boy). Once a week, this drama made all that intense studying and being stuck in the library slightly more bearable haha.

Shut Up Flower Boy Band!! I luf this OST very very much! Finally, a drama band that actually plays some rockin' music! My teen years were spent as a fangirl of Def Leppard and Aerosmith, so I love it when a Korean song has more of a rock edge - and Wake Up definitely had it.

On top of the music being awesome, the drama was awesome stuff as well. From Lee Min Ki's cameo to the raw depiction of teens trying to balance school and love and their dreams...good stuff. Really good stuff. That's why I'd love to have the physical CD to replace my...er....*pleads the 5th*

King 2 Hearts OST please.
It's telling when the soundtrack of a drama just elevates the scene more, in a way in which the music is conveying the emotions the characters are experiencing in that moment. That's what the King 2 Hearts OST did for me.

I would love the Shut Up Flower boy OST. I can still remember when the show started and how I'd stay up as long as it took refreshing a hundred times just to read the recaps for the new episodes since they always came out faster then the subbed episodes. It has got to be my favorite drama of the year it was just so awesome and touched all the right places emotionally. The song Jaywalking was stuck in my head for weeks.

Shut Up Flower Boy Band
It is by far one of my favorite drama soundtrack ever exist (it unfortunately falls second to Dream High) and it is one of the most heartfelt drama I've ever seen this year. Although I like Dream High's soundtrack better, I definitely like Shut Up as a drama with better acting and definitely better story lines.

This drama is definitely on my all-time best drama list. I wait everyday for the next episode on the edge of my seat, dying to find out what happened next. It is definitely like a crack addiction!

Watching the drama is extremely fulfilling and reading Girlfriday's recaps made it even better. I'm seriously not sucking up or anything. I've said it various times in different comments that I love these recaps. I wait for these recaps as much as I wait for the episodes themselves. The insights in these recaps are astounding and enriches the drama experience even more! :)

I would love to win the Shut Up Flower Boy Band OST!

This show easily became my #1 drama of all time. It's something I NEVER expected, as I'm usually a sucker for action/dramatic romance type stories. I definitely would not have even given 'Shut Up' a chance if it weren't for YOUR recaps! The endless praise was enough for me to give it a go and I ended up wrapping it up in 2 days.
No other music drama has ever captivated me with its music as much as this one did, either. I'm a broke kid who can't navigate online Asian music stores though (and too in love with the show to consider... other means)
Thank you for doing this giveaway! You guys rock! :)

I would love the King2hearts ost.. I've watched hundreds of dramas and cried over many of them, but none made me feel as much heartache this show. It might have something to do with the fact that LSG and HJW feature somewhere near the top on my list of favorite actors, but I think I fell in love with the whole world of K2H, with not just the leads but the other characters as well.. And music has a big part to play in that.. More than the story itself, I think the music is able to make me feel the emotions that the characters are feeling, and this was true for King2Hearts as well. I would love to have the OST, I can reminisce from time to time. about the lovely characters and perhaps

The "You've Fallen for Me" OST is just perfect. I fell in love with CNBLUE, because the songs Jung Yong-hwa and Kang Min-hyuk featured on made me look all over the Internet for more of their music. But, most importantly, this was the OST that made me smile even when I didn't felt like it, during a rough time this past year. It is indeed one OST that makes you think of sunshine, happiness, sunflowers, and daisies. It always makes me happy. So, it holds a special place in my heart.

The King2Hearts Ost. :) Normally, I don't pay attention to a drama's OST too much (like I'd never actually search up the songs on Youtube or something), but for the King2Hearts, I just loved all the songs. Plus, the drama was so amazing. I got so caught up in the story and spent hours crying at certain moments. Lee Seunggi really didn't impress me with his acting before, but with this drama, I honestly can say I became a fan of him. Ha Ji Won was as amazing as usual, and I LOOOOOOVED the pairing of Jae-shin and Shi-kyung. It was really a kdrama that I loved everything about.

I would love to win the shut up flower boy band OST because of many reasons. For one, the story of having to decide between friends and a career is something I had to deal with while entering medical school. Though I had awesome friends (like those in the drama), I was conflicted because not all my friends could get the same opportunity-and that’s when friendships were tested. Second, the song tracks by SFBB helped me relax before any stressful event, as an Asian student living in NA, the expectation to be the best (like the character Hyun-soo who has to accomplish so much for his sister and family). Third, I had a one sided love, which this drama also had in the beginning. Eventually our leads got together, and so did I  As for the drama itself, I loved the character portrayal because these actors may not be as experienced (yet still great) A-list crew, yet they can exhibit all the emotions that any kid goes through and actually make you connect to the characters. This drama was amazing because it hit practically every single element: Love, hardship, friendship, honesty and the true talents that each one of us has. Thank you for taking the time to read this and more importantly for providing us amazing recaps!

i would love the ost from you've fallen for me. there's this song that it took me days to find online but when i did i played it over and over. it's so beautiful even though i don't speak korean and don't really know what the singer's saying. i should get the ost because i've never owned a korean music cd and am relegated to listening to the songs via youtube. this annoys my son and husband to no end (they still can't understand how/why/where i picked up my love of korean dramas and kpop). they'd probably want to leave me home alone (forever) if i had a physical c.d. to play and they were not able to just leave me to my room and laptop whenever i start playing my "weird" music!!

Shut up flower boy Band, for two reasons
1) It reminded you have to think hard about what you want in life. Signing up with Japanese company would have been the 'smart decision' but everyone would have been unhappy. It made me realize I can't live an unexamined life. Reminded me to chase my dream no matter how hard it is. After graduating with my university degree and doing a bunch of certification I decided to drop it all and do what I love.
2) The music, execution and story was beautifully done. The twist and turns were entertaining and it had a lessons wrapped artfully into a drama. Makes drama watching totally worth it :D

I agree. I tried really hard for what I wanted, for several years and though most people think I am a fool that failed, I don't regret it, not at all. I am happy because I tried.

The CHUNO soundtrack!
Now that I think of it, it is one of the most epic OST's in drama land! But the drama holds a very special place in my heart as it was the 1st saeguk I attempted to watch. Until Chuno, I was happy in Rom-com Kdrama land with my Coffee princes, regular Princes and Chaebols galore, but with everyone going gaga over Jang Hyuk being in a saeguk and the rather good-looking cast, I loaded up the 1st episode. Whether it was that opening shot of 3 riders in the desert or whether it was Im Jae bum singing as Jang hyuk rides like a crazy man toward his long lost love, I was hooked. Many saeguk have gone by even another one with Jang hyuk (le sigh...TWDR!), but Chuno will forever hold an extremely special place in my heart :)

I didn't like the drama, too draggy and have lots of "ah, it could've been done this way or that way" moments, but the OST? LOVE!

And the fact that CNBLUE is in it made it such a nice OST. Yonghwa might not be a good actor, but as a musician, he's definitely one of the best. :D

SHINee's Sherlock!

SHINee was the first ever kpop band I discovered and would love to have their CD since they basically introduced me to the whole kpop fandom! I fell in love with their charming dance moves in Replay, which was one of my favorite songs from the Boys Over Flowers drama! I really love their latest songs in this CD, especially Sherlock where the famous catchphrase "Soy un doritos!!!" appeared hahaha. The music is so grooovay! Each song has different tempos and beats that can really uplift one's mood! I love that they have ballads and slower songs as well because those are my favorites to listen too. It really showcases a singer's voice ^^ The boys have definitely grown and matured since then heh. I'm also really excited to see Minho's first leading role drama alongside Sulli and the EXO boys! :) I expect to get some really good OST tracks since the drama is filled with great and talented singers afterall! Thank you for this awesome opportunity!!

King 2 Hearts OST

I've watched plenty of dramas that are completely forgotten, but K2H is one that'll stay, residing in it's own little corner for years to come. And boy, was that OST awesome, only thing I really wanted was for Lee Seung Gi to sing a track =[ But other than that, K2H was perfection itself, at least in m world =)

You taught us to look beyond the pretty and into the story. You showed that it's possible to be both shallow AND smart. And well.. you gave us a place to squee and rage at dramas (or each other) with like-minded obsessed fans.

Thank you, dramabeans. This site is one of the things I'll miss when the zombie apocalypse comes and steals the internet. :'(

Thanks for everything--the site, recaps, podcasts, and opinions that you have and allow us to share. This site is usually the first thing I check when I get online. It also inspired me to start my own website with my friend. (^-^)
I hope this site lasts for many more years and provides us with more kdrama krack (yes, that's crack with a 'k'). Honestly speaking (or in this case, typing), I feel that half the crack is reading the recaps for the shows either before or after watching the episodes. It's part of the fun; getting together in one place to discuss your thoughts with people from all over the world. It's especially great for those of us who don't have anyone to discuss with in "the real world."
Thanks, guys. You're all awesome! :3

You've Fallen For Me

I love the OST to this show - in fact, I've been rewatching this drama for my favorite music scenes (I almost choked on a cookie when I paused it to pull up dramabeans and saw the leading image!). In fact, this was the first drama I've seen whose OST I've truly loved. I've enjoyed how the music can add to a scene before, of course, but this is the first one I've seen where it is such a breathing part of the show. It feels sweet and young and artless without being bubble-gummy or saccharine. It certainly doesn't hurt that C.N. Blue IS my favorite band (Big Bang falls 2nd for me)! But mostly the music feels real - real emotions expressed in musical form. And whatever can be said about Jung Yong Hwa's acting, I've always admired his ability to move me with his voice...

And thanks to all of the dramabeans crew for finding yet another way to give - y'all entertain us everyday with your words and still find ways to give more. So thanks!

I want the shut up! flower boy band ost please.

I absolutely love the music of the drama and how its woven into the story. I have a ripped copy of Sung Joon serenading Su-ah in the roof top that I must have played a thousand times, that rasp in his voice *picks myself up from a puddle in the floor*. I just about died in when i first watched that scene.

I love (love, I tell you) when Su-ah lost herself while listening to his voice and how easily she recognizes it. I have a thing about characters having a thing for each others voices.

Another standout moment for me is Hyunsoo's recording with Yerim of "I Love You, I Like You", the MV of which have also played a thousand times. It's a song that grows on you, and I grew to love it after multiple plays. There is just so much to love about the show and its music!

Shut Up: Flower Boy Band OST!

I know the fact that Loveholics was behind the music made this drama a lot more interesting to me, but I longed for a show that made me fall in love like the pure romantic rebel that I was at seventeen.
'Cause at seventeen I was so much like those boys, growing up to be my own self, to be part of something greater than myself with my headphones and a heart full of great lyrics. Yeah I know it sound cheesy and all, but whatever floats my boat, right?!
And 'shut up' did more than float, it ROCKED my freaking boat!

@kaedejun : its a lovely summer songs you choose. I was kinda hoping that you'd give What's Up ost. But I suspect that drama never release official soundtrack.

Anyway, I must blame you (and thank you) for my love of Big Bang now. I'm. In. Love. With. Big. Bang. Which started since I watched What's Up. Even though I don't love Daesung as much as Taeyang now. I blame you purely because What's Up, at first, didn't get properly sub and I read your recap to understand what is happening. So thank you again.

Hmm, after the long tangent, I just want to say last year I really loved heartstrings. Well, I have enough love for Yong Hwa alone and of course Min Hyuk. Thanks to heartstrings and Dream high I'm addicted to k-drama now (was a casual watcher before). I know I'll never watch heartstrings again, due to my high expectation now, this one won't live up to it. But I remember it has lovely breezy summer song.

Shut Up: Flower Boy Band, hands down.

The plot resonated with me because it is a coming of age that reminds me of my own. SUFBB is spectacular. It has a tight plot, balances beautifully between being idealistic and realistic (which honestly, we don't get in many dramas) and the acting is solid.

On a much more superficial note, the line up of eye candy (the band's name is perfect! /sigh) is so swoony. I mean, Lee Min-ki. Need I say any more? I find that I can because even after his departure, I'm all moony over Sung Joon's character and Do-il (you tortured drummer, you). Also, it's one of the few dramas that doesn't make me want to strangle the female lead character at any given time.

That aside, the OST is brilliant. Like seriously, brilliant. I love "Jaywalking" to bits, and I adore L's duet in the song "Love U Like U". And it works. It doesn't overshadow the drama but serves to accentuate the more subtle nuances of the drama, so this is the OST for me.

Not to mention all that bromance (evident in the OST) just nails it all for me.

Chuno OST entry -

First of all, thanks to all of you for providing such a fun and exciting forum to share our enjoyment of Korean dramas. It's so nice to read such witty commentaries, which make these dramas (and stories) that much more enjoyable.

I am a huge Jang Hyuk fan, Chuno was such an intense drama, and the OST brings to mind the emotional turmoil experienced by his character in particular.

Thanks again to everyone!

You've Fallen For Me OST!

Who doesn't want to receive an album filled with feel-good and youthful upbeat songs?! This OST definitely fits the bill for anyone who wants summer lovin' band music! First and foremost, the reason I want this album is not for the drama alone, which honestly wasn't the best around, but for its actors/musicians! Yonghwa is my bias and I love love love him and Minhyuk in CNBlue. To have them contribute to the OST and have personal and individual tracks is so amazing! They ahve such talent in carrying emotions into their singing. What I also love is that they can play the instruments in their songs ie guitar and drums :) I also adore Shin Hye's voice and her songs in this OST are amazingly awesometastical!! *0* Although the drama itself wasn't the best, it had really great tracks that kept the plot and story moving. It also helped us feel more emotions for the characters when their acting wasn't up to par hahaha. All in all, this OST has fantastic uplifting songs by super talented singers and musicians! I would therefore love to get my hands on this special OST with its very pretty cast hehe.

King 2 Hearts!

I love the fact how the tables got to be turned, and how the young prince became the king in the end. The story line was well-written, and tear-jerking.

What kept me addicted to this drama was the development of the character of the young prince, and the steady love between the 2 nations, North and South Korea. Even though there was lots of mistrust between the governments, the 2 lovebirds are always able to keep a steadfast trust between them. Its amazing. Watching this drama was a great decision. Listening to the OST, will keep me going through life. I would love to win the OST - thanks!
