I Miss You completes its love square

It’s a bit late to still be casting, isn’t it? Well, better not look a gift horse in the mouth; at least I Miss You, which premieres in one week, finally has a complete cast. I know.

Granted, this last addition is a secondary lead, and yes, the series does start out in childhood so there’s a little breathing room here. But the show was supposed to follow Arang and the Magistrate, and somehow instead of handing the baton directly to the new drama, MBC decided to scrounge up two weeks of filler material. (This week we’ve got a rebroadcast of a Tears of Antarctica special and the movie Wandeuki.) You can say the show isn’t running perilously behind schedule… in that you can say something and not necessarily make it be true. Let’s just say they’re cutting it close.

The new addition is Lee Se-young, a former child actress who is now heading into her first grown-up role. She’ll play younger sister to hero Yoochun and love interest for rival Yoo Seung-ho, and there are several things about this that make me glad. First off, our second lead’s got a love interest! (One other than the heroine he will never have but angst over, I mean. Because that’s something I just expect as a given in every drama.) Secondly, the conflict in having your sister fall for your nemesis is rich with opportunity, especially since we know that Yoo Seung-ho is going to be a pretty hard-nosed villain. (They’ll be half-siblings, with different mothers.)

And thirdly, Lee Se-young is age-appropriate for Yoo Seung-ho (who’s 19), and having two cast members of similar ages can help keep things from getting too squicky. Yoo was adorable with Park Eun-byul in Operation Proposal, and while it was a little absurd thinking of them as adults in their late twenties, at least they were a matched pair.

Lee Se-young is a 1992-er, eight months older than Yoo. She got her start back in 2004 playing the childhood counterpart to Lee Young-ae in Dae Jang-geum. More recently, she played Ji Chang-wook’s little sister in Bachelor’s Vegetable Store and was in weekend sageuk King’s Dream.

I Miss You premieres on November 7.

I always love it when a child actor continues into adulthood.

No...I'm pretty sure she wasn't playing lee young ae's character. Wasnt she playing the enemy version?
The other girl is acting too, recently I saw her in that drama that is titled "dummy mommy"

I actually thought she would play Yoon Eun Hye's sister, they kinda lookalike. But it's better that way, I hate when sisters go after the same guy, it's never worth it.

Whoa, I was just thinking about the same thing, JB! YSH's character falling in love with his rival's sister is going to spice up the plot more, so I'm really, really praying that the writer is in sync with our thoughts. ;)

Yeah! My wish came true: no Yoo Seung Ho - Yoon Eun Hye pairing. 'Coz that would be totally odd.

She is pretty. I wonder why she didn't get a lot of jobs as child actress considering Dae Jang Geum was huge success.

You know...I feel bad for the character already being that she will fall for the cold handsome one and have to watch him moon over the other girl for most of the series.
Not to mention, I will hate seeing YSH sad at ALL.

Let's hope YSH gives up earlier than later - kinda like in PTB where JJ went back to Ice Cream.

OK, how about if JCW cameos, too? He could play someone in the airport who bumps into YSH face to face, accidentally stabbing him with his umbrella!!
He apologizes, giving YSH a quizzical, "Don't I know you?" look and keeps going, scratching his head and looking at the umbrella. LOL

it's great that the casting directors are considering the age gap while casting, i'm still a little dissapointed that Joo won has to work with that noona when there are plenty of actresses age appropiate for him. anyway, i'm not following any drama right now so i'm highly anticipating the new drama season :)

She's going to be a 2nd lead as well because she'll be interested in Yoochun but she won't be part of the love square. It's not so much a love square as the convergence of separate love triangles.

Like the letter 'M' ?

Girl1->Yoochun->Yoon EunHye<-YSHYoochunYoon EunHye : YSHLee SeYoung

Maybe that is how it will turn out.

I don't like seeing YSH in a one sided love, even if he plays a bad guy.

I'm a little confused, but it's probably coz I got up early this morning.

If she's playing Yoochun's little sis, and Yoochun is Yoo Seung-ho's half-bro...uh, wouldn't she be siblings with him too? Or does she have completely different parents? In which case...your sister falls in love with your brother.

Mmmkay.

Speculation.
Yoochun and YSH had same father, different mothers.
Yoochun and sister same mother different fathers.
No blood ties.
I hope.

No guys...there is no blood tie coz YC and YSH are half -bro (same father ) when LSY is just yoochun step-sister so it is ok if there would be love line !

Lee Se Young didn't played the childhood version of Lee Young Ae's Jang Geum. She played her rival's childhood counterpart, the one who was in love with Ji Jin Hee before she joined the royal kitchen.

I thought she was Park Shin Hye and all like YES! ... LOL. My bad.
Well, at least YSH could get another more appropriate lover, 'cause I hate to see him sad.
BTW, what's with the half-mother, half father siblings? My head hurts thinking about it ...

She's pretty! And yeaaaaaah love interest to the second lead. But, seriously, you can't put Yoo Seung Ho in a drama and expect him not to have just ONE love interest. Madness. Just madness.

Just wanted to clarify -- she did not play the young Janggeum. Lee Seyoung was the child version of Keumyoung, who was played by Hong Rina. It's just that I recently saw a movie with young Janggeumie grown-up, and they are two different actresses.

She's gorgeous then and now! Looking forward to see how this storyline progresses...

i wish i can see yoochun and seungho in one frame more often. there's not so much junki-seungho moment in arang, and seungho in normal sageuk hair only last for few minutes, craving me for more.

now everyone is with nice style, nice hairstyle. please do well.

yup! she played the child version of Jang-geum's rival, Geum-young. Child Jang-geum is also pretty big now, around 16 years old or so, I last saw her playing teenaged Eugene in Baker King.
anyway, both kids were pretty good actors so I'm looking forward to Lee Se-young's part in I miss you. I hope Yoo Seung-ho's brooding and angst will be cut short by her role.
