My addiction is slowly spiraling away beyond my control, I have started watching dramas in the engineering labs(all the better to see you with, with those huge monitors)!!
oh my word guys, it's been such a long day. I'm so happy to come home from work and look through OT. :)
I only watched Nice Guy this week, but I love that drama so so so much. There's probably some earlier convo about it higher in the thread that I haven't found yet. I think I'm going to come out of this year with a top 5 or something, I don't know how anybody picks a favorite drama. If they were fall leaves, I couldn't just pick one or two to save, I'd be the one jumping in the piles and piles and throwing handfuls in the air!
Hmmm, Minnesota must be already getting to me. :) Have a good weekend everyone!!!!
Nice Guy is definitely on top of my radar now a days :) I can't even sum it up in a word to explain how awesome that drama is. I have been watching too much romcom in the past year as it seems. :))
The three leads are just perfect for their roles. Song Joongki makes me want to love and hate him at the same time. Being all heroic and a villain in his own way at the same time. Moon Chaewon is just awesome in a way that she was able to transition well from being the cold heartless bitch of a chaebol girl to that sweet and innocent brain-injured kid. Ans Park Siyeon just wanna make me crush her head multiple of times because of how selfish and crazy she can be.
All in all, this drama is a breather for me after watching all those romcoms in the past, from Dream High 2 to rooftop prince to To the beautiful you and many others. Im pretty glad i chose to watch this because i never regretted even a single minute/second that I chose to watch this drama. Highly recommended drama... :D Everyone should watch it. :D
I think this might be the best place to ask for drama advice. I really want to watch some funny/sweet k-drama. Preferably something I can marathon, so a completed or near complete drama would be ideal. Swoon-worthy OTP is always a plus. A bubbling idiot female lead is a HUGE detractor. I like shows set in school; sucker for coming of age storyline. To give you some idea, here are some dramas I could watch over and over again:
Answer me 1997
Queen In-Hyun's Man
Shut Up Flower Boy Band
The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry
Sungkyunkwan Scandal
My Girlfriend is a Guhimo
So... any recommendations? I really want to marathon some sucker and feel the same thrill that I felt when I first discovered k-dramas. Thanks muchos!
PS: I am open to TW-dramas or JDoramas too if they are good. I've found that in most of JDoramas the female lead is an even bigger idiot than your normal k-drama and what's worse, tends to overreact, but I might have been unlucky enough to try most of the bad ones. I mean I liked the Japanese version of Hana Yori Dango better (just for the record).
Office Girls is one of the very few good TW dramas of the year. It drags a bit at the end cause "extension" but it's adorable and very funny (that manager at work is priceless.).
lol. I happen to be one of those who couldn't bear watching the show despite trying to. I started out liking the show, but then at some point the female lead became too spineless for me, always pushed around. I also hated the actress's acting, or should I say over-acting. Even my love for all things Jung Il-woo couldn't make me stay with the drama.
i didnt read it as she was spineless. for me, she was struggling with herself - coz she found herself attracted to cha chi soo despite herself and despite the problems it would bring and she wasnt as attracted to pillar who had all the right stuff. i found that internal struggle realistically portrayed in the drama.
she's one of my fave female lead. i know quite a few ppl thought she overacted but ii didnt and i thought she was spot on actually. loved her physical comedy and when the drama/ script suddenly turns serious, she was great too. it was a drama that goes from comical to serious in a second - loved that
I never saw her as spineless either. She was conflicted, yes, and trying to figure out her life, and a bit slow on reacting, she thought about stuff first, but not spineless. The actress is not my favorite but she was okay. The character was good. I loved that she rescued Cha, and went and got him from the "castle" tower.
Meaning you should watch it, not that it was hard for me to watch. Reply fail. :<
The one T-Drama that I tell everyone to watch is Absolute Boyfriend. I loved it. It was so SAD. And as for J-doramas, the very funny Ouran High School Host Club is a favorite of mine. So goofy and off the wall like the Anime and manga.
late but I'd definitely rec the following based on what you like:
Coffee Prince
Arang and the Magistrate
Goong (it drags a little in the latter half but is totally worth it for the chemistry between the leads)
J-Hana Kimi, mk. I (not for the female lead but for the awesome supporting cast)
J-Hana Kimi is one of my faves too but I love BBF better for getting its Yi Jung.Ga Eul storyline better than any of the other versions did. Wish they'd had their own spinoff or a special :D
so the wait for subs for The Chaser on DarkSmurf is killing me because well the part that's done is freaking awesome. Is someone else subbing and maybe further along with equal or better quality?
Hello all! I have a question I was hoping one of my fabulous unnis could help me out with. I am trying to find a list of all the dramas YA Entertainment has released on DVD so far. Their website only lists the DVD's currently for sale, not including those that have gone out of print. I would be interested to see a full list if anyone knows where to find one! Thanks!!
In other news, I am currently making my way through Ojakgyo Brothers and Gaksital, both of which I am enjoying very much! Since I came late to the party, I have already encountered many spoilers for both dramas. I am a bit sad because I think Gaksital would be more dramatic if I didn't know about several major twists ahead of time, but it is still highly addicting! I also just started Dal Ja's Spring. I miss all the careerwoman centered dramas of 2007! Where did those go? :)
Just thought I'd share with y'all this video that explains PSY's popularity, or all of kpop for that matter. It's quite entertaining. Plus, I did not know H.O.T. stood for Highfive of Teenagers, yeah, I thought it was just suppose to stand for hot. Whenever I see anything H.O.T. related it reminds me of our lovely Shi-won.

Answer Me 1997 is really one of the best dramas i have watched. good choice ;)
I could recommend you
To The Beautiful You (though its just all fluff and cute)
Rooftop Prince (not in a school but totally OTP worthy couple);
Arang and the Magistrate (since youve watched Gumiho... this drama would be a good Shin Minah fix for you)
Dream High (the first series... not the second one.. the 2nd is a big failure LOL)

AM 1997 and QIHM. Hmm...
Panda and the hedgehog.
Funny and sweet- not many around. They don't do them plain sweet and simple these days.
Office Girls?

Oh I loved Dream High too! Atleast the first time around, I don't know if it will retain the same charm in second or third veiwings.
To The Beautiful You isn't really my cup of tea. A little too bizzare for me from what I have read/heard about it.
The other two I followed through recaps here. Enjoyed Arang, but Rooftop Prince.... hmmm... let's just say I was glad when it ended.

I enjoyed Office Girls.
It was my first and only TW drama to date.
As for the office manager, my grandson, (a five year old) thought he was funny as well. He'd ask me to rewind and play scenes for him.
With Roy Qiu & Tia Li, lots of pretty there.
