Yoochun and Yoon Eun-hye’s poster shoot for I Miss You

Here’s our first look at the leads of the upcoming melodrama I Miss You, in shoots for the show’s posters. Yoochun and Yoon Eun-hye star as first loves who are cruelly separated as teenagers and meet again as adults, though if the stills are any indication, there are plenty of tears left to be had even after reuniting. It’s a 20-episode conventional melodrama from the writer of Can You Hear My Heart and the director of Thank You, about playing hide-and-seek with love. Or maybe Fate’s the one playing, and our characters are just the pawns? That sounds more like dramaverse’s way of doing things.

I thought the poster stills for their teenage counterparts Yeo Jin-gu and Kim So-hyun were more visually arresting, but these shots are lovely as well, even if the staging concept is pretty one-note. I say anything’s a notch above the photoshop stacking of cardboard character cutouts, which is somehow still deemed poster-worthy by some shows.

So far, the stills for this show are doing a great job of piquing my interest — it looks like it’ll be shot with a moody, composed artistic hand, which would really make my day. And both pairs of characters in past and present show signs of a promising pairing. There isn’t a lot of story to go on, but we’ve got a pair of 15-year olds in love who get torn apart and carry with them some deep emotional scars. Then they meet again as adults — he’s a cop and she’s a fashion designer — and old scars get reopened.

Despite the heavy if vague concept, I actually think this is one of the few upcoming melos that promises a heartwarming, upbeat side to counter the angst. So fingers crossed that it’ll be an interesting character-based melodrama, and not just doom and gloom for the sake of doom and gloom.

I Miss You follows Arang and the Magistrate, and premieres in November on MBC.

two former idols turned actor/actress as the main leads...that's a rare event no? (I don't watch enough dramas to say if this is a first or not) Yoon eun hye usually delivers so her idol star status is far from my memory but i just can't help but feel a little apprehensive on whether they can hold the drama without the help of a stronger actor/actress as the other lead....the story and directing will have to deliver to account for any weaknesses for sure.

that said, I think the pairing is so awesome. they both have very friendly images and are just so darn cute/sexy individually, putting them together is so visually satisfying lol...

Let me try to put your worries to rest, Yoon Eun Hye has acted with someone who was a totally unknown in dramaland before. Remember the married Oh Man Seuk paired with her in Vineyard Man? First drama that he's ever done in his career was with YEH whose only drama on her repertoire back then was Goong. To make the matters worst, they had to go up against Jumong.
But guess what? Vineyard Man surprised the hell out of everyone. In an article by StarMoneyToday in 2006, it said that KBS had hopeless ratings for the past 3 years, regarding their Mon-Tues dramas, they said that out of all the listed dramas (eg, Stairway to Heaven 4.9%; Snow Queen 7.5%; Hello Miss 9.7%; I am Sam 6.1% etc) which failed to even reach the 10% mark, fortunately for KBS they had "The Vineyard Man" starring Yoon Eun Hye to lift the broadcasting network out of its devastatingly embarrassing state with a record 15.6% viewership. The Vineyard Man was against ratings giant "Jumong" so it was through that drama that YEH actually first earned the undustry people's respect.

Unless 'I Miss You' will have the same hopelessly bad written story as Lie To Me which was beyond saving or repairing...I can't see Yoochun and Yoon Eun Hye mess this up. Both have good enough acting chops to make the drama a hit if they are given a good scriptwriter and director that they can work with. I believe in them and my anticipation for this drama is now 100X more after seeing the expression on their faces in these stills.
I believe in their talent and I think they will prove many naysayer wrong once this drama airs.

Agree, most of the last few flops weren't her fault. LTM was a train wreck because of the writing. Same with Take Care of Agassi...

I hope this will be an "emotion centered" drama. I had expectations on Nice Guy but it became a bland revenge story. (although im liking moon Chae woon's suprb performance.)

If an idol can't act, no matter how famous he/she is, the rating never surpass 10 %. Yoochun's dramas despite sucky scripts always had over 12% rating, even Miss ripley and at the same time, very popular in Korea and internationally. It proves he can act, and he can create enough hype. Nuff say. He just needs a good script.

While your point is noted, above 12% is hardly anything to boast about. If he wants to be taken seriously as an actor, he shouldn't be comparing himself to idols at this stage in his career. OTOH, I think he does have it in him to be a good actor in the future.

the only yoochun drama that i watch untill finisf is miss ripley. Yoochun charracter in that drama not really hard. I think good rating doesn't always good acting. If the story good and the other actor/actress is good, they can cover the other and the difficulty of the role also affected.i see YOO CHUN role in SKKS and MISS RIPLEY not really hard more like himself i guess and Rooftop prince i see his blank face in the teaser--when comedic situation occur--

Maybe you should try to see how Yoochun in real life. He totally opposite of his character in SKKS and Miss Ripley. Yoochun is bright and dork in real life, you can't even see Lee Son Joon in him at all. Look like completely different persons.

I've watched all his dramas, and I think it's safe to say Han Jungwoo will be character that closest/similiar to him the most

I will agree with Yoochun in Miss Ripley being more like himself but SKKS?? are you kidding?! he's micky yoochun from dbsk before that role. there wasn't any lee seon joon vibe in that guy. :) he always does the aegyo parts that's why his fanbase are kids. Also, SKKS was a saeguk, the accent used was insane and yoochun was new to it but he pulled it off. he even won A LOT of awards for that role.
you must get to know yoo chun in real life if you want to judge the person to that extent.

I loved YEH and Oh Man Suk, who both shined with a wonderful script in Vineyard Man.
Hopefully, she really needs to have a good script this time. I know this is a melo, but she cried so much in Lie to Me, I got tired of watching her because she looked very unattractive.I know it's going to be sad, but I hope she doesn't have to cry too much in this drama too.
Can't tell too much from the stills, but Yoochun and YEH look cute together. Hello forehead!Makes him look more mature.
Hope YEH has recovered from her eye infection. What a bummer when you have to shoot scenes.

Hmm...I would have to disagree with you here. She did cry a lot in Lie to Me, but I didn't find her unattractive at all. When YEH cries, I can feel her pain and her emotions and it makes me sad too. I don't really know how to describe it, but seeing her cry touched me.

Personnaly, I don't like it when atresses try to look ''pretty'' when they cry. It gives the impression that they care more about their looks, than the emotions they they're conveying.

As for hoping that she won't cry a lot in this drama, I'm sorry to break your bubble, but there's bound to be several crying scenes since this is a MELODRAMA.
