Chun Jung-myung and Kim Min-jung reunite as co-stars

Chun Jung-myung (Man of Honor, Blue Salt) and Kim Min-jung (Third Ward, Thorn Birds) are reportedly in talks to star in a movie called Queen of the Night, about a husband who starts getting suspicious about his perfect wife’s past. There are conflicting reports — some say one or both are confirmed while others say both are still considering — but this must be one of the reasons Chun dropped I Miss You, because if he signs on, the movie starts shooting next month.

It’s been seven years since the two have been co-stars (in the 2005 drama Fashion 70s), and Kim Min-jung seems perfectly suited for the hidden femme fatale sort of role (supposing the suspicions are grounded in an actual nefarious past, of course). Chun Jung-myung is still so baby-faced that dark roles always seem strange for him, but he’s certainly carried them before.

The production company behind Sunflower, Insadong Scandal, and Wonderful Radio is producing the film. Wonderful Radio’s writer Kim Jae-young will be penning Queen of the Night, and it’ll also be his directorial debut. There’s very little information about the story other than the one-line description: a guy marries a “perfect woman” and then starts to become suspicious about her past and begins to dig deeper. Just… you know what they said about curiosity and the cat, right? Maybe you ought to leave “perfect” well enough alone.

There’s no indication of tone so it’s entirely possible that it’ll turn out to be a screwball comedy, though I highly doubt it. Mostly it sounds like a suspense drama, unless of course he digs around and finds out she was… I dunno… a Canadian popstar with a really embarrassing music video shot in a mall? It could happen.

Queen of the Night plans to start shooting next month for a 2013 release.

The first time I saw her acting was in Thornbirds, and I thought she was good in it. I also felt that she had more chemistry with the lead actor, more so than the other actress, for some reason.
The first time I saw CJM was in Man of Honor (and I saw a few episodes of What's up, Fox? I think that is the title?) and I mostly liked him in it. I think in the end of the year review of dramas (2011), someone here (one of the reviewers, I think) said that his character seemed more of a brother to the lead actress than her love interest, and at times, it did feel that way. She (PMY) had good chemistry with the 2nd lead (sometimes better, it seemed). I remember his name now, Lee Jang-woo.

This sounds like an interesting movie...

I agree, he should have stayed in brother-land. Once they discovered they weren't sibling I wanted to stop watching. I was already upset that the story I thought I was watching went from 2 baseball players and a nurse to 3 people trying to get a job -___-

Hello Naz,
I thought this was funny, but aptly said, "I was already upset that the story I thought I was watching went from 2 baseball players and a nurse to 3 people trying to get a job"

Agreed I was mad about that too...I kept thinking where's the baseball. Cause, hitting balls in batting cage when you're pissed...totally DOESN'T count.

I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaated her character in Thornbirds, so she must be a good actress.
Problem is I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaated her in Thornbirds, so there is very little room for me to see her another way.

Same goes for Lee Yoo Ri, who won acting awards for her increasingly evil sequined covered character in Twinkle Twinkle / All That Glitters / Shining /Sparkling.

I didn't finish Thornbirds (can the leads love even more brother-sisterishly and calmly than that? (when they finally start to love each other, somehow). But I didn't like the the bad second lead too. I can't unsee her in any other role. Just can't.

(With a very big struggle of mind, I slowly changed my mind to the positive side about Kim Sun Ah because of her Kim Sam-soon role (tango lessons from Scent of a Woman were very helpful indeed).

She was very cutesy (and unattractive!) in Third Hospital.

I thought she was unattractive in Thornbirds as well -- both characterwise and physically. The script had the 1st lead obsessed with her - don't know why. She looked bugeyed and her lips were so puffy, she looked like a blowfish.

Remind me why everyone calls him PIE?

I've never watched any of his dramas, but I've seen his face around. I can't remember his real name, but I always point at the screen, smile, and say Pie!!

Kim Min Jung is extremely talented. She may not be the prettiest actress in Korea but I'd rather watch her than some Hallyu stars hamming it up on screen drama after drama.

Sounds like the making of a decent vampire flick. It's about time Korea had one with a female lead.

OH i just knew he drop i miss u!!! he should be a perfect cast for that role!!! cause although now the second lead is doing perfectly but his face is still too young!! he could look like a 17 yrs old kid~~ that dress in mature clothing~~

i love CJM but not that lady~~

Oh, CJM was supposed to play the second lead? I don't know. I know he's an actor and it shouldn't be about ego and all that jazz, but it would have been weird for me watching him play second lead to Yoochun. But I've seen stills of Yoo Seung Ho, and he seems to be hitting it out of the park.

What great news! I'm going through a kind of Chun Jung Myung renaissance right now; I just finished re-re-watching What's Up Fox (which I LOVE), and now I'm watching Goodbye Solo, wich is so incredibly good, and next up is Fashion 70s. Definitely not going to watch Glory Jane, but am considering watching the Duo, 'cause I've heard some good things about it. But it's so long! I heard he was doing a show in China next. Anyway, good luck to this project!

First, I'd like to apologise to everyone for riding this article about Chun Jung Myung to talk about something else, but please understand I don't know other way to express my feelings:

Dear girlfriday,
I saw that you have been in-charge for recapping I Miss You, but somehow I couldn't find the episode 5 and the rest.

You just don't know how many times a day I visited this blog in such desperate hopes to find the recap, and had to leave in sorrow once I found none.

I have tried, I did have, looking for another blogs for recaps, but.. they are just far below the awesomeness you possess when you recap something. The way they wrote things are just too biased to certain characters that the rcaps, instead of making me happy, made me angry. They aren't written objectively. .. I don't even ask for funny recaps the way you do, just writing it in objective perspective..

I love the drama soo so much, and your recap will do some magic in making my day perfect.

Please listen to this desperate hope of me and come back with another I Miss You recap.

Yours truly and only

Tien

i totally agree with you, tien. i hope girlfriday will recap the succeeding episodes of i miss you. though she did say that she's having 2nd thoughts about further recapping the series.

i think her recaps are much more emotional than the series itself. i get teary-eyed just by reading her recaps more than watching the series hehe

but girlfriday...thank you for the recaps and here's hoping you continue to do so.

Kim Min Jung is indeed not as beautiful as many hallyu actress, but she's good. I watched The Third Ward and I think it's quite good drama, I love it. Eventhough the conflict is not well written, but the whole storyline is different from any mainstream drama. The second lead wasn't crazy over heel to the main lead, the second female lead wasn't also the common possesive girl who went all the way claiming her oppa, the characters weren't people extremely rich nor handsome/beautiful nor anything could be called "perfect". Instead, they were like normal people we often meet everyday.

i like cjm, was hoping he would take the second lead in i miss you. but i think the 2nd lead actor is doing a good job. was wary he might come off as too young but surprise surprise, he pulled it off.

I love Chung Jung Myung, and I've seen almost all of his work, he's very tallented and cute, I loved him specially in Cindirella Unni. And he desserves a male lead.

So I would watch this movie if he agrees to take iy.
B
ut I watched in other sites that it's not Kim Min Jung the female lead but Park Min Jung So, maybe it's a missunderstanding with the last name.

Hope is Kim Min Jung 'cause I think she´s better actress than Park Min Jung.

the evil character on Thornbirds is just the right person to play this evil part because she is the queen of all the bugged-eye monstrous eyeballs. It does not help her appearance with added thick lips that makes her look like a blowfish ready to blow fire on the whole show. Then when she speaks, it's nothing pretty she sounds like a hissing snake ready to kill anyone with her fangs and venom coming out of her ugly face. What a ugly woman to be in tv and drama. Wow...she's creepy all over and it does not help with the way her hair style is...really, I mean I tried to look at her in a nice way but just can't. She's one ugly creature from outer space. Oh my goodness...
