Uhm Tae-woong and Han Ye-seul drop The Dog

girlfriday: So, Uhm Tae-woong dropped out of his movie The Dog? But he loves dogs!

javabeans: But wasn’t this the movie about dog fighters? So maybe this is best for all involved.

girlfriday: Oh right. Maybe he did it to spare himself the heartache.

javabeans: Technically the reason is that scheduling pushed back The Dog, which was delayed due to the director’s prior film, Fortunetellers, and now it conflicts with Uhmforce’s new historical drama where he plays the famed Lee Soon-shin.

girlfriday: Yeah, well turtle ship commander beats dog fighting ring leader.

javabeans: Not gonna lie, I was actually really curious to see how Uhm Tae-woong would handle playing a guy who abuses dogs, in a morbidly fascinated way. Basically, I think 1N2D ruins your image for anything else.

girlfriday: And you think Na PD is sadistic?

javabeans: Well, I would know that the dogs weren’t really hurt… and that he wouldn’t actually be mistreating them… it would just be the interesting dilemma of watching him become the guy who could fictionally do that.

girlfriday: Kinda like watching Baby Joo-won play Lee Kang-to?

javabeans: For some reason I think it’s worse with dog-lover Tae-woong.

girlfriday: It’s always worse with dogs. It’s the one thing I can’t watch in movies — any kind of animal violence, even though I KNOW it’s fake. I just can’t do it.

javabeans: To bring this out of such depressing waters, though, there’s also the reminder that this cracked-out-sounding dark comedy also involves the dogs being alien. Brought to you by the director who gave us killer pig in a mountainside.

girlfriday: Right. That helps. The alien thing does help.

javabeans: Those are words you didn’t anticipate yourself saying, aren’t they?

girlfriday: Yeah that’d be a weird quote, taken out of context. Apparently Han Ye-seul backed out too, right on the heels of Tae-woong’s exit. So now the movie has no cast. Either that or the alien dogs took over, and there will be no humans in this movie anymore.

javabeans: Let’s just hope the project gets a second wind. Based on the director’s prior works and the crazy-sounding premise, The Dog could be bizarre and entertaining, in a good way.

girlfriday: Just as long as we remember that they’re aliens.

well, with Uhm Tae-woong the workaholic, any small delay would conflict with his next project. This guy just does not rest. Back to back to back projects. of course being a future husband-and-father-to-be might have something to do with it?

I'm not jumping to any conclusion, but with both star bailing out on this movie, I'm just thinking to myself, "Something's fishy here, why is everybody bailing?"

Oh, er, just sayin, I think 1N2D should totally hire javabeans, She would give Na PD a run for his money. Come on now, don't be modest, we know what you come up with in recaps and other posts. :-) kekeke

JB would egg the guys on to greater heights in betting.Getting more epic fails and laughter.Although her soft spot for Joo Won might mean he'll get more food?

Good. I hate these type of movies. :-( I would not to be able to stand seeing my bb UTW pretend to abuse dogs.

This is too bad because I like Uhm Tae-woong. But the drama he's gonna do sounds interesting. Any drama that involves Korean history, even if it's an alternate history based on facts, I'm gonna watch, because 1) I love history, and 2) I know next to nothing about Korean history. So I'm looking forward to that.

I'm the opposite of you... i can only watch sageuks if they're fusion dramas, if they're full on historical dramas then I haven't been able to sit through any one probably because I like to know the real history first... and I know very very little of korean history...

Or you know some facts, but they're never accurate in a drama.

hahahaha conversation posts yay! I really do hope this movie picks up a cast (and a good one, worthy to fit the shoes of its almost cast) because this movie sounds like it could be really good or so bad it's good.

It just sounds like a movie I'd totally miss, but with Um backing out even more. I wonder If HYS dropped because UTW is no longer in it...

Some sites said HYS dropped it right after UTW did. It's probably partially due to him dropping out, but I think it's because production was supposed to start last month and still hasn't. She'll just move onto another project.
