Eugene’s Noodle Shop releases stills and new title

Weekend drama May Queen is on its way out, so it’s time to turn to its follow-up show, which has new stills and a new name: Once called Third Generation Noodle House, it’s now going by the title Hundred Year Inheritance.

Hm, it’s gone from literal to figurative, from descriptive to oblique. Noodle House does sound more prosaic but you totally get what we’re dealing with: a noodle house (duh) with a family at the center, probably some cuteness and romance and all your usual family drama staples. I can see where Hundred Year Inheritance may sound more poetic… but it also sounds really generic.

In any case, these stills largely feature leading lady Eugene, pictured here as a bride. They’re likely from a flashback since the groom here is NOT Lee Jung-jin, her leading man; at the drama’s outset her character comes back to the family noodle factory business after a divorce.

In these photos, her husband (and later ex) is played by Choi Won-young, and his character is the son to a rich family with a major corporation to their name. Looks like their love couldn’t conqure the class divide, although it was enough to take them to the altar despite a mother-in-law who fiercely opposed the match.

Hundred Year Inheritance sounds like a cute weekend offering to lighten things up after May Queen ends. Sure, it sounds like just about every weekend drama ever, but these shows are always much more about execution and character rapport than they are about original stories. So we’ll have to wait ‘n’ see on that front. The drama will premiere on January 5.

I like her wedding dress. This drama sounds interesting to me and I haven't seen LJJ act since I watched Fugitive Plan B. I also like Eugene. I would be keen on watching it.

Same here, regarding the ever lovely Eugene. It's her face that made me a K-drama fan to begin with. I'll follow her anywhere... :)

MBC, weekend drama, food, rivalry... Basically a mix of Feast of the Gods/MayQueen. For the worst and the better. Yes, I don't expect a big surprise: The leads will dictate if I stay or not.
PS: So many veterans already spotted at the script reading. :)

True, the veterans are everywhere! I do respect their resilience & passion.. it must be no joke doing live shoots at a more senior age, I think?

The title reminds me of something... Wasn't there a drama which was supposed to revolve around a family making makgeolli for generations? Did it ever come out?

Makgeolli never managed to pick up any network to air it.

Sweet. ^^ Somehow I go more for the noodle-title (if it's got noodles in it, count me in! XD) but I'll probably give the series a try anyway.

I just watched PIETA and the image of LJJ's character is still fresh and so livid and disturbing in my mind. Hopefully this cute weekend drama can erase all that!

If you don't mind spoiling the movie, was there any incest involved? I assumed the woman wasn't actually his mother, but you never know with Kim Ki Duk...

To be honest, I stopped watching after he "abused" his "mother" in certain ways because it was too much for me to watch, which I shouldn't be because it is a Kim Ki Duk movie but still.

The part where I stopped was when he was doing "things" to his "mother" and questioning her if she really is or not.

It's good they didn't use "Thousand" instead of "Hundred". Dramas with thousand in their titles tend to be atrocious :)

I am interested by the heroine's character description, but I am slightly afraid that Eugene might overdo the cute. Let's see!

First of all...what gorgeous stills! I love her flowers, and the dress is just so lovely, especially on her.

But...sometimes I wish, for once, they'd make the woman a widow with a child, and have a power struggle (for the child and maybe the child's inheritance) between her and the in-laws. I think that would make for a decent twist to the tried and true plot line. Wait, have they made something like this? Did I miss it?

Royal Family. The lead became a widow and she had the worst in laws especially the mother in law.

Oh wow! The mother in law is really horrible in that drama. So damn scary...

Oooo...okay, I haven't seen that one. I'm going to have to try it. Since it's complete, I can skip through if my blood pressure starts getting to high. lol Thanks!

I'm looking forward to this! Sounds like my type of family drama :)

I don't remember much of Eugene in Baker King but I did love Lee Jung Jin in Runaway/Plan B! He had great chemistry with Rain haha
