Thanks for the recap!

I found it really interesting that Nam-soon is the bad influence on Heung-soo, at least that's how Heung-soo's sister sees it. Makes me wonder just how much Nam-soon has changed.

Kim Woo-bin as a high schooler is really throwing me off. He's just so huge! I don't know why I'm surprised, I mean, he played a high schooler a couple times before. Maybe it's just that I know he's like 23 combined with how tall he is.

Loving Daniel Choi from a purely aesthetic point of view. He wears clothes well, and I feel like he gets to show that off as Se-chan.

Finally am watching this episode now. The person I'm feeling for the most is Heung-soo: the way he was so close to tears at the restaurant, and the way he needed to be coaxed to eat.

It's also freaking me out a bit that growing kids like this who usually pig out, are shown refusing food all the time. I really feel like feeding them up so they've steady blood sugar and they're in better moods and can all be friends!

May I ask to all the beanies here who know the way Korean schools work a question ? (I'll take the obvious upcoming silence as a yes...)

So, I understand that one of the teacher is just sort of teaching tricks to pass entrance exams, but what about the other teacher who's more traditional?
I just don't understand what the Korean class is all about as far as the cursus and the exam is concerned.
Are the pupils learning their language and literature as (I assume) you would in the U.S to gradute and get high SATs or for the British GCSEs/A-levels? (with like a novel and some passges needed to be explained and essays to be made on some topics such as love in the novel?) Is the method different for Korean literature?

In-Jae was writing sentences on the board (dunno if it's this episode or the next one, but whatever) and explaining a few expressions, and trying to get the students to get the meaning of a dilemma. Was her explanation based on a literary extract? (I mean, other than the life and death situation.)
Then, what are the "problems" for the (Literature) exams they're all talking about? Some extracts of a literay piece they have to explain? Or is it a bit like an essay as opposed to the o0hter teacher's " "tick" the right box"-like exam to get into uni?

I'm sorry, I just thought I'd understand more about the Korean literature class and exam by re-reading javabeans' recap though it seems I'm still a bit lost. I know it's not extremely important to understand the plot because the main conflict and facts are easy to grasp: the two literature teachers have two different points of view about the world and it's reflected on their teaching methods. I'm just curious as how Koreans students learn Koreans as high school students/A-formers.

(Gosh it's hard to talk about education because you tend to refer to the system in which you've been taught but I really think it's interesting.)

"It’s strange to see Jung-ho in the position of the bullied"

not really where there's a bully there's a stronger bully around somewhere usually more than one

I think I felt a few tears drop when In-jae hit her students hands, also her hand really is tiny.

I think I know what happened between Nam-soon and Heung-soo they've dropped some hints and I think Nam-soon did something big really big and then ran away and let Heung-soo take the fall for it.

Gah! This show! Seriously! It's so addicting and loaded with just so much emotion. I love it so much and just want more of it.

Poor In-jae. My heart broke for her when she was hitting the kids' hands. That took so much out of her. I'm proud of her, but at the same time I'm cringing that she had to stoop to that level. Her poor hand, too!

I like the way the show is slowly building Heung-soo's character. I am so freaking curious about him and want to know what his deal is exactly. What happened between him and Nam-soon? Why did Nam-soon leave and become the way he is now? And why is Heung-soo basically doing the same? I really love Kim Woo-bin and Lee Jong-seok in these rolls. Both are phenomenal young actors, and I can't wait to see where this leads.

I'm also curious about Jung-ho. I like it when the "villain" (can he be called that) is shown in a sympathetic light. Especially when the "villain" is a teenager. I want to know why he is the way is and what's up with that hyungnim?

Another thing I am curious about is the rapport building between Nam-soon and Ha-kyung. I want more of it!

Thanks for the recap, Javabeans!

I'm sure she's trying her best, but I can't help thinking that other actors are in character while she's trying really hard to act. I don't think it's difficult to act like an ice princess but she comes off rather emotionless in certain scenes that requires a bit more umph.
