This type of drama reminds me why I never wanted to be a teacher. Not saying that being one is bad, but because it's so hard. And basically you're a big factor in planting the right seeds in society's future.

Anyways, I'm really enjoying the drama. Some parts were very hurtful to watch, but in the end I think it'll be worthwhile. I feel so bad for Jong-soo. What if he turns out to be a genius/smarter than average who just doesn't understand his own abilities because of an abusive parent? Tears.

I'm glad they didn't just drop the Nam-soon/Young-woo friendship after Heung-soo came. It's nice to still see scenes with them showing the friendship is still there. And did anyone notice the part in between the exams when Ha-kyung and Kang-joo are listening to Ha-kyung's phone, in the background Ki-duk is trying to massage Heung-soo's shoulders. Haha! I couldn't believe it! He is really trying to get on his Hyung's good side.

Another note: Even though the heart of this story seems to be about friendship, I wouldn't mind a little romance. I want things to move forward with the 3 couples I want to be together: Heung-soo/Kang-joo (who have the same haircut actually); In-jae/Se-chan; and to a lesser extent Nam-soon/Ha-kyung. I would be fine without the last one, but I want the first two to happen; definitely HS/KJ. They would be so cute. We're running out of time, Show! Give me something!

I like your re-captions of what has happened so far in the movie. I agree with everything you said, this drama is the greatest so far. It's like when one situation is done, you feel like there isn't going to be anymore issues but BAM! at the next minute there's another situation stirring up. That's what I love about this drama. Life isn't perfect and shit happens all the time! It talks about life and what school really is. It's amazing, even the homeroom teacher In-jae. She's a great teacher, for believing in them and putting her efforts in her students. This is a great drama and I cannot wait for the next episodes. For example, you get that feeling that Heung-soo and Nam-soon are going to be friends again but there's always a problem. And my point exactly, life has its values and the little things in there. I love all the roles. I believe each and every one in the drama involved will get to play a part and be "found"; just like Ji-hoon was found too. It's been a great nine episodes!! BRING US MOOOOORREEEEE :D And one last thing, this drama was tagged under "love triangle". Do you guys think there will be a love triangle? I feel like there will be one, but if it happens between Heung-soo and Nam-soon, the brotherhood matters more. UIFHsyufhaeuhfa0erg I just can't get enough. I'm getting back to being a kdrama freak now lol

As a Montessori teacher, reading the comments describing schooling in Korea is almost as interesting as watching the drama itself. Thanks for sharing!

I very much love this drama. Like others, I am disappointed by the disappearance of the love lines. Maybe after Nam Soon and Heung Soo settle things between themselves, they can let the girls back in.

In thinking about the testing scores, I could very well see that raising the lowest scores might have a bigger effect on the total Class 2 scores than raising the highest scores. There's a lot more room for growth on the lowest scores. I don't understand why the teachers don't talk with some of the students who just mark all answers in the same row. Might they not do better by actually trying to answer some questions?

I am optimistic enough to think that scores may actually go up because In-jae is trying to teach them to think.

The whole focus on testing in education is wrong. No Child Left Behind in the U.S. is really "no child left untested." Educational testing corporations make big money selling materials to schools designed to teach students how to pass their tests. What a racket!

I think a heavy focus on competition is also self defeating, since people who can cooperate, work together, problem solve together have a better chance of making the world and their lives better.

Looking forward to next week!

I only started watching this recently, and I really love the story and how it is handled.
The only thing I find difficult to relate to or even to understand is the way things are going on in class, because it seems like an extreme charicature. People sleeping in class and the teachers don't say anything, all those multiple choice tests where the students just mark their answers randomly and how come there seems to be so much self study in school and so few actual lessons.
Of course this is a drama, so I shouldn't be too critical.
Also, I was wondering. How exactly do you go on to the next grade in Korea, don't you at least need to have 50% of the points? And also, don't people study at home or mostly in school?

Despite this, I really love watching this drama, can't wait for monday!!

Did anyone realise that the female leads aren't getting any proper or important screen time? Ha kyung has just been ditched into the corner, she just has this mandatory three second appearance in an entire hour. Did they really takeout the loveline between her and namsoon? I'm pretty sure Heung Soo and Kang Joo's first meeting was an indication of future budding romance. Ever since episode 4, ha Kyung and Kang joo have been just there for one minute each or one minute together, and it's depressing that their roles have been minored and littler so much because some people think that they shouldn't be in a love relationship. I feel so stripped of my love for the writers who have made the show so beautiful already.

Is anyone else still pissed that the love line is taken out? Don't get me wrong, the show is too perfect already, bromance, real situations and friends helping each other and all, but seriously, I just found out this morning that the love lines have ACTUALLY been TAKEN out!! I mean, all the way up to episode 5, the romance was pretty steady and obvious, but suddenly all we get is eye contact from across the room? If the shows starts going bad and things aren't getting to the viewers that well, the romance will be there to keep the going. Korean dramas deliver romance better than every other country, but the producers for this show decided that because some people think that romance won't bode so well I with the plot, they decided to change their entire script, and they flush their dreams down the toilet because some viewers disagree. The entire reason people who wanted the romance didn't say anything is because the romance was already being shown, and they didn't think they needed to say anything. But the others? People who didn't want the romance said something because it WAS being shown. I'm so freakin depressed about this. I think I'm about to start crying. Can someone give the link to the School 2013s home page? Before I die of deflated anticipation? Please? :(

I didn't say she's engaging both high achievers and underachievers; I said she's working hard to find solutions that will engage both. I don't think her teaching methods are only useful for poor performing students. Whether a student gets high or low marks, learning critical thinking and forming one's own opinions and ideas are skills that all students should develop since they directly correlate with building self confidence and creativity. High performing students who have a one-track mind to only study and get high scores are the way they are because the school system has shaped them to be like that, clones not independent thinkers. I also don't think that she's cowed by the snotty high achievers. I think she's certainly frustrated, but she's no pushover nor is she easily frightened by them.

There's a lot of harsh criticism about her teaching methods, but what makes her a good teacher is that she doesn't give up on her students. She's pro-active and working hard to find better solutions. While other teachers are complacent, jaded or falling in line with parental pressure, she's working hard for the best interests of the students.

This is as much her story to become a better teacher as it is for her students to become better learners.
