Song Seung-heon picks new drama, When A Man Loves

It’s only been half a year since Dr. Jin called it a day, but Song Seung-heon is coming back with another MBC drama series. Y…ay?

This one’s called When A Man Loves, and I sincerely hope this drama’s answer to that isn’t “…he travels through a wormhole and also falls in love with the doppelganger, because why have one true love when you can have two?” The object of his affections is Shin Se-kyung (Fashion King), which is interesting in that she seems like the exact same type of actress as his Dr. Jin co-star Park Min-young: pretty, young, sweet, gets the job done, though sometimes possessing of a frustrating emotional block. Coincidentally, both leads headlined seriously questionable WTF dramas in the past year; perhaps they’re looking for redemption?

Both Song and Shin are in final negotiations, which means that the casting isn’t technically finalized, but most outlets are treating it as a done deal. We don’t have much info on the plot yet, only that the hero is a junior member in a crime organization, and when he falls for a young woman, the two are swept up in the whirlpool of passionate romance. Yeah, more details would really help, since basically that just tells us that Boy In Gang Meets Girl, Probably Loses Girl, Possibly Gets Girl Back.

It sounds like a melodrama driven by an strong love story, which is something I can picture given the producers attached: When A Man Loves comes from the director of Arang and the Magistrate and the writer of Equator Man. So at least this time they’re both in good hands.

The drama’s already got a timeslot, and will take up the Wednesday-Thursday broadcast window after Level 7 Civil Servant ends in April.

WHAT? Who said we are anti SSH? ????
We like him when he does what he is good at. And how could we hate someone who makes us laugh?
Never heard about humor in second degree or poking fun at someone you like?
If there are true haters in the house, they are a minority.

You know, being able to read between the lines can be useful sometimes...

I enjoyed "My Princess". I laughed with "He was so Cool". I found "Autumn In My Heart" too melo. I watched every last episode of "Dr Jin".

The net result when I see a picture of Song Seung-heon now? I think "There's Dr Jin" and get this queasy feeling because I really hated that series by the end.

I would much prefer to think "The Hand Towel" and flash on an image of his abs. So that is what I am going to try to reprogram my brain to respond so that I am filled with the joyous laughter of Beanie drooling comments as an association with SSH.

I second that thought my friend!.
SSH and KTH were wonderful in My Princess. I loved them so much because they complimented each other's acting so well not to mention the sparks of chemistry in their love scenes. I have thought about them two sticking to rom-com, but would like to challenge the idea of them as leads in a melodrama just to see if they are able to deliver the same effect as they did in rom-com.

Interestingly, the two dramas of SSH and KTH will air opposite each other about the same time, with swapping partners.

I dunno why...but i can never warm up to SSK acting in all her dramas(DRT..FK esp)..she has really "dead" and lifeless facial expression (whether shes angry..sad or happy etc) thats make me wanted to shake her...and im not pitching a tent for SSH either..

applying criticsm to others that one does not apply equally to oneself is "HYPOCRITe"....words can be powerful. why not use them to lift someone up rather than knock them down. It's amazingly how self judgemental people are on here. They act as if they've never made a mistake in their lives. remember that not one of us are promised tomorrow. stop knocking this guy SSH ,etc. and show some respect, whatever he did, or can do ...he does it for himself and to the people who loves him...and had nothing to do with you guys... to watch, or not to watch his movies/drama is your choice. He maybe a good or bad actor in your eyes... w/ a million crowd from all nationalities and all walks of life maybe at least a percentage adore or appreciate what he can do. with a lot of Korean artist... i think he's still one who can do great in his chosen career. WHY? directors, producers, business man etc. won't waste their time and money getting him for some projects if he isn't good at all in his craft. I've watched a lot of Korean movies/dramas...so far i find him better than the rest. He is a gifted person w/ talent and looks. Not everyone can be famous but everyone can be great. If you think you are better than him why not apply for the same position where he is and see for yourself what good you can do...So stop mocking others with your rude attitudes.
Above all why not examine yourselves? aren't you guys look foolish but most of all...desperate for attention? Love more, hate none, ignore critics, enjoy life, for life is short. We go as we come to this world, in the end nothing is ours to keep. Goodness is the only investment in our lives so do good to everyone and wish them well.

I like song seung hun but I don't like shin se kyung. I want to slape her when she was in Fashion King. Her acting is too bad, flat without any expression, same pith Park Min Young and Lee yoon hee.
Song seung hun, why do you always pick a drama with wrong partner?
I like song hye kyo and Kim tae hee as your partner

ooo I do agree that Park Min-Young and Shin Se-Kyung are similar. But at least there's been one drama where I loved Park Min-Young (City Hunter). While Shin Se-Kyung had a few nice moments in High Kick (she was mostly boring though and then went on to RUIN the series), even in Tree With Deep Roots where I was able to recognize some talent in her performance, I never fell in love with her character in the way I felt I was supposed to. I've been able to connect to Park Min-Young a littttttttle bit more.
