Kim Jung-hoon changes up his image with mystery film

Kim Jung-hoon (I Need Romance) has announced his next project, which puts him the lead role of a movie titled Wild Dogs. The project is the directorial debut feature for screenwriter Ha Won-jun, and features Kim Jung-hoon playing a reporter “who lives his life like a makjang.” I’m assuming that doesn’t mean he courts revenge and birth secrets left and right, but rather that he lives with wild excess. His character happens upon a village and starts digging up that village’s secrets.

Hm, sounds dark and mysterious. At least I hope it is, though there’s always the Chaw tactic of going for campy black comedy. Something tells me we’re looking at a more serious tone here, though. The film is hoping to be accepted at the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) later this year, which suggests that the so-called secrets involve some kind of genre/paranormal/fantasy element.

Kim says he was drawn to this role because it would expand his acting range and explore a different (more serious) image. Perhaps that’s why he’s reportedly busy taking acting lessons in preparation for shoots, which is something I really wish more actors would do. It’s not like you land your first gig and all of a sudden you no longer need practice! Good for him.

Wild Dogs will begin filming later this month and aims for a release in the latter half of the year. After shooting wraps on the film, Kim plans to head back to dramaland for his next series.

He is so cute. Couldn't hate him in Witch Yoo-Hee (lmfao that drama...sigh) and still rooted for him in I Need Romance.

Although I would really like to brush his hair in that photo.

yah! some stylist spent a good hour getting each gelled, primped, pumped, and spritzed lock in place for that photo and you'd ruin it in one fell swipe of a brush!?

He's one of the few second-lead syndromes I've had (in Goong). Wishing his new film a great success!

I didn't like him at all the first time around in Goong. Especially in the 1st half, with the orange hair. Second time around, I felt more sympathy for him but still never wanted him to beat out Shin.

Surprised myself by liking him a lot in I Need Romance, so I'm very hopeful for this!

Same. I've only ever seen him in the second lead roles, but somehow I think he's so cute. Sometimes I watch the last episode of Witch Yoo-hee to laugh fondly at the ridiculousness, which wouldn't be the same without him. :-)

SO CUTE. I love him. I wish he was in more dramas. I Need Romance feels like ages ago and I like rom-coms.

Prince Yul!!!!! I think he will always be Prince Yul to me. I still haven't finished I need Romance, but I hate his character, I assume he redeems himself, since people still like him.

Ha! I was just watching the first episode of Twin Peaks on hulu so I could get all the references to it in that one Psych episode, lol. Crazy that it pops up in the kdrama world...

I have only seen him in Goong, and wasn't much impressed (well, it's more because I didn't like his character there)....
May be I'll like him now.. :)

Yeah I'll never see him as anything other than the Second Male Lead I loved to hate in Goong. Sorry buddy.

Is there anyone who didn't like him in Goong (I didn't) and who doesn't find him attractive (I don't) but liked him in I Need Romance? I have been thinking about watching it since people seem to like it so much, but historically this actor really does nothing for me.

I did like him in I Need Romance and I didn't like him in Goong - although on a second viewing I have a bit more sympathy for his position, honestly, but not enough to sway me from my rabid love of Shin.

Anyway, in INR he definitely had my sympathies.

He did well in I Need Romance. That was the first time I saw him in a lead role and he had good chemistry with the female lead. hope he returns to dramaland soon too

How could anyone hate him in Goong??? I almost fell in love with that fictional character! A loving son, smiles to everyone, a smart guy, and knows how to love!
