Happy Friday everyone!! I am a bit late, but oh well. :D
I've been watching Flower Boy Next Door and loving it! Enrique is definitely my favourite character, because I've just always had a thing for the bubbly personalities, especially if there's depth under them. Yoon Shi Yoon's adorable face is just a bonus. ;) Dok Mi is an amazing character as well - she's so relatable for me and has so many layers and flavours to her personality. And Jin Rak...I felt so sorry for him in this last episode! Writers, please let him have a girl in the end - as long as it's not Do Hwi! I find her slightly amusing, in all honesty, but at the same time she repulses me because she's a very true-to-life mean girl; I think that may be why we dislike her so much. Because who hasn't dealt with someone like that? So, kudos to Show and Park Soo Jin for such a real character.
Also, I've been re-watching Shut Up Flower Boy Band (still loving it!) and I realized that the same actor who plays Maru (the nerdy Strawberry Fields groupie) also plays Jung Ho in School 2013. This has led to me giggling like a mad person whenever I see Maru behaving all nerdy because I think of him being a gangster and it doesn't compute. xD
FBND is the only KDrama I'm watching now, with the end of CDDA. There's a few other Asian dramas out there, if you are interested, and a lot of them were discussed upthread. Good luck!
Am I the only one that finds Flower Boy Next Door boring??
everyone keeps raving about it but i just don't see it. It has no plot, we're on ep. 8 and there hasn't been any developments.
I tune in every week but I keep asking myself why??
I think it's because of PSH... ok... *nows it time to hide myself*
Loving Flower Boy next door, but was otherwise adrift with Alice, School 2013 and, especially, King of Dramas over. But an excursion into the archives has saved me--History of a Salaryman is so wonderful! I've devoured it up to ep. 16 so far, and have to end this message to get back to it. Witty, quirky script, great pacing, romance as confusing as it is in real life, great acting--and it's DB's recaps I have to thank for this find. Original, like Drama King.
Wow, Park Eun Bin has been cast as Heo Joon's wife in Choi Wan Gyu's daily. Kim Joo Hyuk is old enough to be her dad! I know she isn't exactly the main lead (speaking in terms of air time) but 20 years is a huge age difference!
So, I've been busy this week playing the beautiful fairy tale RPG Ni no Kuni from Level-5 & Studio Ghibli, so I'm not quite caught up on my dramas yet. But from what I have watched, these are my thoughts:
Flower Boy Next Door is a nice quirky melo slice-of-life story with a lot of likable characters. I enjoy Dok Mi a lot, and even Enrique to an extent (though he still reminds me an awful lot of idol band Z:EA's Kwang Hee), but I have to say, I'm just not feeling any romantic chemistry between them. It's the same problem I had with the first show in the Flower Boy franchise. I think they're great as friends, but lovers? Not buying it. So, romantic teasing between them does nothing for me in the show.
Level 7 Civil Servant is pretty silly. But, I don't mind that. Joo Won's character, though, is a brat. Been a while since I watched a drama w/ one this self-centered. I have a sneaking suspicion we'll get a time jump in a few episodes, cause how else are we gonna progress the two leads' dynamic...? I do think it's picked up from the first week, so I'll keep with it.
And, that's that. I guess I should say hi to people (but who knows how many of y'all are still checking in this thread; lol, I'm so late to the party.)
Hello Do-ra-ma! Don't forget there are usual DB stalkers who read everything. Not me of course...
For FBND, I think than you fon't feel the chemistry yet cause the love line is just about to start. It's a very low-key show and not something I would suggest for someone who likes pure romantic dramas. Dok Mi has crawled (literally) from her limbos and now is dealing with the basics in terms of relationships. I wouldn't be surprised if the Enrique/Dok Mi couple only happened at the end. And maybe they will effectively stay only good friends. Who knows...
hi all, looks like i'm gonna have to write like no one is reading :)
had a really long day of work yesterday going into early morning today, which meant that when i woke up this morning, i remained horizontal for a good hour or so. just had no energy - BUT the stomach demanded to be fed aorund 11+ am and so i trudged to the neighbourhood kopitiam (literal translation - coffehouse, though there are many stalls selling all sorts of food) and had my bbq and roast pork rice.
just finally finished school 2013 - i dont love it like some do but am happy i persisted coz i did end up caring about what was going to happen to some of the characters.
glad to read that not EVERYONE love FBND that much. i was beginning to think i was alone in just being ok with it. it certainly doesnt rank up there with fbrs and sufbb for me.
its a beautiful, HOT but breezy day here in Kuala lUmpur, just actually perfect for a dip in the pool but i cant move from the horizontal position i am in. in any case, a 1 pm sun is way too aging!! :p. am writing this just to make shukmeister jealous. is it working? are you even reading shukie?? :)
hope everyone has a good weekend. i know i will be :)
Hi again, enz! A dip in the pool? A hot breezy day? Sounds lover-ly, and exist only in my dreams in January. Enjoy the late afternoon sun and think of me while I'm exercising to keep the winter fat rolls from piling on (go pushups - 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and down and up and down and up...)
I finished watching School 2013 yesterday, though I haven't watched the special. I really enjoyed the drama. I'd seen Lee Jong-suk in Secret Garden and liked him there a lot.
-Flower boy next door ep 7 & 8

Happy Friday everyone! Just wanted to shout out how much I LOVE THE NEW PICTURE ON TOP. QUEEN INHYUN'S MAN FURRLIFE.
Currently only watching Flower Boy Next Door and loving it!! It's more deep than those surface-level romcoms. Love Dok-mi and Hippo <3
Although I'm busy with homework, I feel so empty without a drama to watch on the weekends! Any suggestions?

You're definitely not. I get into it while I'm watching it, but I find that I'm not dying for a new episode in between.

My drama plans had originally been to watch City Conquest with Kim Hyun Joong after School 2013 was done. However, now I don't know if that drama is ever going to air. Have any of you been following the controversy? Here's a link to an article about it:
http://www.allkpop.com/2013/02/kim-hyun-joongs-drama-city-conquest-rejected-by-kbs-producers-considering-legal-action
Comments talk about bringing in Anthony from King of Dramas to solve the problems. LOL.
