Hello.
I know this is an open forum, and forgive me if i'm interrupting anyone's conversation, but I would like to request Java or one of the other bloggers make a playlist. I really have enjoyed the music playlists that have been posted in the past. Just a request.

I would like to say Rest in Peace to Im Yoon Tae of Ulala Session. I couldn't stop crying when I read about it. I'm not even into kpop like that but his music and band was so full of life that they got my attention. He was just getting his recognition and had so much more to give. His enduring spirit was so inspiring. The only consolation is, he is no longer in pain. Such a beautiful soul was taken too soon. I wish his family all the strength to get through this.

i'm curious about the signficance of the wind blowing in korean culture.

i've seen in at least 2 dramas the phrase "the wind blows. i like you." and now there's the drama "That Winter. The Wind Blows."

Does the phrase "the wind blows" signify a moment of change, epiphany, or something else?

I like the explanation in samsooki's recap of City Hall episode 14. This is what he says:

"Quick explanation: To have an affair, in Korean, is based off the word “breeze,” taking the fickle and wanton qualities of wind that blows neither steady or in the same direction all the time. Jo Gook (note, male lead) is saying that he isn’t like a breeze, but in fact he is caught in a typhoon. It is an admission of love, and it stuns Mi Rae (note, female lead) to hear it. As much as a person can hope and even believe that it is true, to hear the admission that another person loves you, can be shocking."

I loved his recaps of City Hall. Samsooki also recapped MNIKSS on dramabeans - check it out!

I read some of his stuff going back through some older recaps - he disappeared right about the time I started coming here regularly. I liked his writing a lot, and I have been sorry not have his writing to read anymore.

Yay! Thanks for that! :)

I've seen City Hall and yep, I remember the wind-typhoon line. So that's what it's about. I was beginning to think in lines of "winds of change" where the protagonist or the one affected by it gets some eureka-like realizations in a whim or caused by a simple or significant event that suddenly happened. But somehow some of the contexts wherein the phrase was placed - that I have seen - don't fit quite well with that. However, all of them were in settings of people falling in love.
