A Dramabeans Meetup? Vote!

We’ve had a lot of requests over the years for a Dramabeans Meetup, and while that seemed like a good idea in theory, we were always daunted by the reality of prying ourselves away from our screens, putting on pants and venturing into the sunlight. And then somebody suggested, “Nighttime could work and pants are still optional.” The idea was too genius not to consider.

So before we get really serious about putting on pants, we thought we’d ask you if you’d be interested in coming to such an event, to gauge interest. Because it would be really sad to be the only two people at our birthday party. [I dunno whatchoo talkin’ ‘bout. My mom will be there. *throws confetti* -GF]

As it turns out, we’ll be heading over to New York next month — who knew there were classes on Hallyu now? — which strikes us as a good time to test out this Meetup experiment. Unless the poll results say otherwise, that is, in which case you can stop reading now and we’ll turn away to cry into our ice cream. Votes?

Clearly we know exactly what we are doing and have no need of any help whatsoever in planning such an event because of our extraordinary foresight and stellar planning skills… but okay, we’ll open ourselves up to offers of help, if you insist. Does anyone have great ideas for meeting places? I’m sure we can scrounge something up, but right now our best idea is huddling somewhere in Central Park, fighting with the squirrels for space. Those bastards can be vicious.

And if you do think the Meetup is a fun idea but wish it were in your hometown, tell us where you’d like us to go next, and maybe we can make it happen!

If you feel really lonely... try asiantitulky... or other sites... I think there are quite some people in CZ who are into Asian dramas and k-pop...

Actually I'm quite successful in that part, my best friend is head over heels about Kang Ji Hwan - ok both of us B-) so we're swooning together at Incarnation of Money in a complete harmony. I was just curious, if this wonderful blog visits anybody else from our part of the world :-)

I'm not TT... everybody thinks I'm crazy... 8-}

...currently swooning over Tamaki Hiroshi... :-X

Oh! Hallo and greetings from North Moravia! It's quite funny, I just tried and posted out of sheer curiosity and jealousy over the incredibly loooong lamenting threads from other parts of the world, and here we go, collecting one by one:-D Let’s get at 10, at least ;-)
One the other side, I'm incredibly amazed by the variety of countries all the Beanies come from. That feeling of global closeness and connection… :-) It's still fascinating for me, even though I'm a regular visitor.

Just wanted to express my love for all of you and for Dramabeans especially :-)

Wowzers! Between the whole Beanies vs. The Meanies thing, and this announcement that our superheroines are not only wiling to unmask themselves, but are also willing to get up close and personal with their peepz, this has got to be one of the most momentous weeks in the history of Dramabeans Nation. NYC is too far for me, but this is super exciting news!

I'd suggest that if anyone has frequent flyer miles they'd like to donate for the tour, contact jb or gf. (I don't think teleporting is one of their superpowers.)

I go to school in New York but unfortunately its Rochester which is 6 hours from NYC by bus or train :,[ But I would do everything I could to make it if there was a meet up!

Can this be legit thing? Like a Mini-Beanie Convention? Meet up with Javabeans and Girlfriday themselves? Have a dramaland discussion panel? Prizes and photo opportunities?! I can see this being a super legit thing~!! With a little planning ;]

I'm voting for Hong Kong or Philippines if it's gonna happen this year.I'm not sure where i will be next year. It's either Canada or UK.So Canadian and UK beanies, please keep it posted if you are meeting up.Who knows i'll be able to join you.Haha.In my dreams.I honestly think it's a good idea but it's gonna be a lot of work and stuff.

Still I hope some of you can really meet up in your own designated areas.Who knows in the future it's gonna become a big convention and will become a world class one.

Haha.I'm still dreaming. If you guys ever do meet up,keep us posted here on DB.We will be joining you thru from here.

Suggestion for karaoke in NYC:

There's this place called Duet 35 and you can just rent a room and they have catalogues for Korean, Chinese, and Japanese songs!

The only con was that they didnt really sell food but you can bring food in with you! :)

I'm in NYC and I'd totally come, as long as it's not between April 17-23, as I'll be in Seattle for a conference. Food 32 in Koreatown has a nice big 3rd floor that would be big enough for a meet-up, but it is always busy, too, with diners. There's a nice dessert bar up on that floor, too, and the bottom floor has a nice selection of different kinds of food. I just did a Korean language meetup in a bar, and that's just WAY too loud to get to know new people, for me. NYC is a hard place to do such things without prior arrangements and knowing how many people are coming, because space is at such a premium, but it's possible.

2nd suggestion for Ktown food court in NYC -- if go during off peak hours may be able to find enough room to fit whoever shows up. Theoretically can also meet at top floor of bread and butter deli on 29th and park as a back up...

If the weather is nice the high line would be an alternative > central park.
