New posters for SBS’s Jang Ok-jung

A week out from the drama’s premiere, we’ve got new posters out for SBS’s Jang Ok-jung, Live By Love — which, by the way, has had two name changes since it was announced. You probably haven’t heard about them, though, since the show merely dropped its second half of the title, then decided their heroine should live by love after all. Fickle producers, always changing their minds.

I think the posters look pretty in a general sense and I don’t really have a problem with them — it’s just too bad they’re so generic-looking. The one up top actually looks like an outtake to me, as though the camera caught Yoo Ah-in and Kim Tae-hee slumping in an off moment when they thought they weren’t being shot. It’s just so… droopy.

Perhaps it’s to remind us that this is a sad romance between a king and the woman he obsessed over and then had killed? In which case I want to see a lot more fiery Anne Boleyn-ness out of our anti-heroine. Though I’m pretty sure we can count on Hong Soo-hyun (playing discarded Queen In-hyun) to provide intensity, even if her character has historically been interpreted as the meek, gentle one railroaded by the usurping vixen. I am curious to see just how far the drama twists the “standard” narrative in giving us the alternate history, because we all know how it ends.

In the second poster, we also get a glimpse of secondary characters played by Lee Sang-yub, Jae Hee, and Han Seung-yeon. The drama follows Yawang as SBS’s new Monday-Tuesday drama, and premieres next Monday, April 8.

She does look scheming always (if you notice TPM & LTM). XD It would be good to see a new take on Queen Inhyeon. "Dong-yi" was just the start, though...but still traditional view on her.

And look how KARA's Seungyeon looks almost, almost edged out of the poster. XP Why, because she entered the story a little later???

Same here.

Fwiw, using a Kindle, I get a question mark. If I click it, sometimes it will load the image, other times, nada.

oh that happens to me too sometimes on the Kindle. I hadn't noticed it here but on Tumblr it does. Not always, though, so it's weird.

Still feeling pretty undecided on whether I should watch the show for Lee Sang Yeob and Yoo Ah In. EEE I loved Yoo Ah In and Sungkyunkwan Scandal and also I adored Lee Sang Yeob in I Live In Cheongdamdong! Dilemma. On the other hand, pretty unexcited about Kim Tae Hee though hmm.

@Jules and @John I've had the same issue as well in regards to loading pictures. Well actually the entire background or anything not text related. It started happening since I updated my droid RAZR. Now the only way I can view images on DB is by using Chrome because using my regular browser with Google all I see are the words (plain text). I was wondering if anyone else had this issue?

Sorry about the side track comment above ^^

The first poster does look droopy, as if no one told them they were taking pictures.

Well I hope the first pic's not an outtake! It'd be difficult for the poor guy to walk around in robes that doubled as a carpet! :-)

the real Jang Hee-bin was six years older than the king, too, so I can buy it. It's just a shame the promo so far looks so boring.

Agree about the age difference.

I don't really care about the age difference, it's just a bit of a visual mismatch for me, that's all.

Also, iirc, Shin Se Kyung was first offered the role? And I don't think anybody really knows when Jang Hee Bin was born.

Shin Se-gyeong? Then she should've signed on to this than that Drama-Which-Should-Not-Be-Mentioned-While-Not-Yet-Airing-...-And-Which-Ripped-Off-Infinite's-Song-WTF.

Jang Ok -jeong was born in 1659:
-12 September O.S. (lunisolar Korean calendar)
-27 October N.S. (Gregorian calendar; though that wouldn't be adopted until 1896)

Are they twisting the roles and giving the "scheming" characteristics to HSH/in-yun? I don't mind Kim Tae Hee but I just don't see her as a "scheming vixen". now, it'd be great if KTH will be able to rise above average expectations and blow us all away. I want her to do good.

Jae Hee! Yoo Ah In (hopefully in a drama that doesn't suck)! I am less excited about Kim Tae-hee but willing to give her a chance!

I don't know about this one, especially since I'd be investing time into something that simply cannot end well, but I am intrigued.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the Anne Boleyn thing in this drama. But I've watched the first two episodes and I'm hooked. It's good, guys. It's really good.
