Park Shin-hye cast opposite Lee Min-ho in Heirs

Drumroll please… We have Lee Min-ho’s leading lady for his new drama He Who Wishes To Wear the Crown, Endure Its Weight: Heirs, aka The More Words We Put in A Title It Makes It Better, See: Hamster! Or yunno, just Heirs. Park Shin-hye has been cast as the heroine, fresh off the set of one drama (Flower Boy Next Door), a movie (The Gift of Room 7), and a short. Does the girl not rest?

The new 20-episode buzz project comes from star writer Kim Eun-sook, who most recently wrote A Gentleman’s Dignity and Secret Garden. She’s as polarizing as she is talented — those of you who watched some of her dramas along with us can attest that you rarely come out of the experience with all your hairs intact. But she does know how to make a hit drama. Directing is Kang Shin-hyo (Tazza, Midas) and the show has been picked up for a fall broadcast.

There’s no story info yet, but I don’t expect this drama to flout expectation. The title’s got chaebol-heir-and-Candy written all over it. I’m excited about the pairing though, which you have to admit is pretty damn perfect. It almost doesn’t matter what the story is. Almost.

Park Shin-hye’s been having a stellar year so far, and though Flower Boy Next Door wasn’t without its failings, she was quirky and winning as Go Dok-mi, and it was her performance that grounded the emotion and heart of the show. Please, please let’s give her a character with some depth, and not just pour all our energies into the hero, eh?

Heirs plans to premiere in October on SBS.

I will pass because of my beef with the writer, but I really hope they use the two actors well. I smell popularity-casting here and the last thing viewers need is another chaebol/candy drama.

It's the last thing these two actors need too. They have potential and both got big with really typical rom-coms and managed to then give better performances in less teen-oriented shows. It would be a shame if they are used the same shallow way again.

So best of luck to them, even if I won't be following this work.

She flat-out admitted she will not do pre-produced drama (which would help ease the filming burden and make for better quality works), because she feels you can't keep up with the fast-changing trends netizens like.

When a professional who has even made a series (On Air) about how grueling drama-making is for everyone involved comes out and says she accepts the current slave-driving situation and would consider new ways as long as they don't harm her popularity, it stays with you...

I liked City Hall and Secret Garden was pleasant enough, but they're not good enough for me to look past this. I can watch an actor whose morals I might not agree with, because they are only a part of the whole thing. A writer is the core. It's their story and I no longer care what stories a person like her has to show me.

Maybe if the topic was fresh and cast one I truly loved, I'd watch it and speak about it to support them, but as things stand, I won't give her work further buzz.

The article on what I mentioned.

I can definitely see where your coming from considering the stress most of these Actors/Actresses is put under when they have to meet the dead line. After watching King Of Dramas, I got a deeper look into what takes place behind the scene and what it takes to make a drama. The script, how much money it takes, the set, the producers, the endorsement and the dreaded extension. The writers did an excellent job in portraying the world of K- Drama. and now I see them in a new light. I always think they should start make episodes 1 months prior to airing, just so they can avoid the Mal-nourishment of their actors/actress. and most of all to avoid accident that might take place while they are rushing.

I have been waiting for this pairing since I started watching Kdramas. I love her, she is so pretty and i think her acting is better than many other actresses. I don't get it when people say that she doesn't have good chemestry with actors, i absolutely disagree with that. She has worked with younger and older actors, and the romances had been cute and full of sparks. Kimchee radish cubes, in Cyrano, Yab even in Stairway to heaven.
Lee Min Ho is kind of dork for me, that's a reason for liking him more. I really hope they connect, and give us a memorable performance. Go Dok Mi had been her best character, and i liked him best in bbf.

The writer of this drama is a hit maker, please let this drama be a one too. My favorite work from her is On Air, actually it is a whole time favorite k drama. The women there were strong, hyperactive, childish, strongheaded and bitchy at times....i just loved it. I hope Shin Hye gets a more mature role from her. Her male leads had always been adorable, so he will get his chance to shine.

Yay! A light drama for october!...can't wait for it!

Why is PSH considered talented? Can someone say something she was REALLY good at? I love YAB but frankly she was just ok there. FBND was pretty awful for me and a big part of it's awfulness was her character who should have been a sensitive traumatized person but she only showed a big blank wall. Sorry I don't mean to offend her fans, it's just the way it was for me on that show. What was her big role????

I think the most chemistry (for me) I saw from PSH was with Tree of Heaven. Her costar was Lee Wan. Oddly enough she was only 16 at the time, but she played a much more mature character than alot of her characters.

Well, I watched her old dramas, in my opinion, I think she's one of the talented actress of her generation.
Her acting in FBND reminds me of Bill Murray's "Lost in Translation" and Michael Stuhlbarg's "A Serious Man", she deserves acting awards for her role.

Why is Lee Minho considered talented?

Required fields are marked *

Because of BOF? I'm not very sure if he's really considered talented or just incredibly hot ehehehh. As for me, I liked him in BOF, haven't watched PT yet, didn't like him so much on City Hunter, was a hit and miss, sometimes alright. Faith was pretty terrible, it was like he was uncomfortable sometimes, others he was just barely there. Bad, bad. But still, even when he's being bad he's insanely charismatic so a big chunk of badness goes unnoticed for most people. :)

I wouldn't call The Last Stand a blockbuster. The production cost was 45 million and it only made 12million domestic and thats really bad. The reviews were less favorable, only 56% at RT. I think casting Arnold in it was a big mistake. He is so not back. People dont give a crap about him anymore.

It's just that she said she wants to do a project that fit her age that's why she is typecast. It's her choice though, let the girl growing with the role. She's been in highlight lately with her FBND drama and her successful movie Miracle with RSR, no wonder writer KSE wanted her.
I don't have high expectation for this drama though, I prolly watching it for fun only.

Of crs not, since kiss n sexual activity is just a very small part in true life romance. The "story" is the important thing, duh....

Required fields are marked *

How are you gonna tell her not to get personal when the replies that are bashing the actor or actress are even more personal than anything she said.

She is right, noone is forcing anyone to watch that doesn't like the actor, actress, screen writer or director. It just seems like some people can't wait to say how the actors are overrated and their laundry lists of dislikes of a drama they haven't seen yet that doesn't even have a synopsis.

The leads have done a étude CFs and they had very good chemistry in them and the BTS. However, there are posters who claim they will be boring to watch. *rollseyes*

0

Required fields are marked *

Where is the bashing???????????????
People are allowed to like or dislike an actor or film or director and sometimes they even have good reasons, either way it's their right. THIS is not bashing. Everybody was very respectful and simply said why they like it or dislike.

Fans NEED to learn to respect others and just breathe before thinking everything is some offense or attack. I hate to say this but just relax, dramas are fun! :)

0

Required fields are marked *

word.

criticizing an actor for their acting skills is not equal to bashing. some fans need to really get a grip and stop being overprotective. this is going to be a little off-topic but whatever. like, I think choi min-sik is insanely amazing in acting and he's my moooost favorite actor ever. he's receiving so much attention from writers, directors too. he's a famous a-list actor and receive praises and respect from critics. but recently, I've seen reviews criticizing his acting in nameless gangster and he's not as good as ha jung woo. you know, I thought he did an excellent job in executing 'choi ik-hyun' in nameless gangster. but I don't get upset over those reviews. in fact I appreciate them. because as a fan, you have to accept the fact that not everyone agrees on what you agree.

calling someone overrated for their acting skills is not a personal attack. calling someone ugly is a personal attack. but I don't see any comments like this here. there is not such thing as 'fact' if we're talking about their acting ability. afterall, the perception of an actor's acting quality is subjective.

LOL with all the comments i'm reading here...but please try not to bash any of these talents, PSH has been in the business for over 10 years and it's about time she gets the well deserved notice she's been getting...

to those who don't like the pairing, then don't watch...and to us who love PSH and LMH, we're all in 'happy mood' right now...

So let me see what we have here a male lead played by the most over-rated young male actors, just because he's "pretty", which I disagree with. Then we have a female lead played by one of the most talented young actress in Korea. And finally we have a writer who, ironically enough, despite being a woman can't write women. Sounds like a hot mess, but I might watch anyway to see Park Shin Hye school Lee Min Ho on acting.

^ Man, I'm a big LMH fan but get so sad at comments like this by some of his fans.

LMH alternates between being good (BOF, CH), and showing his flaws in acting (PT, Faith). Mostly, my conclusion is that he's good when the director's great (CH) or just okay (BOF), but when paired with a bad director (PT, Faith), he's not as good as he could've been. I think he still has a lot of room to improve, but he has charisma and screen presence and when he turns on the intensity, he's riveting and I can't help but look at him.

With Faith, I was on the fence about his chemistry with Kim Hee-sun because of the age difference but I really liked how their romance progressed and was not disappointed on that score even if the rest of the storyline (and the directing) was a big let down.

I'll be glad to be proven wrong re his chemistry with PSH, but with my wariness regarding the writer (fun dialogues but plot's questionable) plus PSH's history, I'm not sure how it'll turn out. I really liked her only in YB mostly because of JGS as Tae-kyung and I do agree she's a good character actor, but like Moon Geun-young I feel her characters' relationships seems to lean on the platonic side.

Hm. Can't say I'm excited about Park Shin-hye. She's got a great personality and seems really sweet, but her acting just doesn't do it for me. Even after Flower Boy Next Door. And I just can't see Lee Min-ho having chemistry with her at all...and my goodness I am seriously DYING for a good romcom atm, so this is just all really disappointing in general. Or maybe I'm just being too pessimistic today, haha. :P

I will say one word to pessimistic please wait the plot we didn't read the characters script as Park shin hye and Lee Min Ho did they saw something that attract them .
And for who say that shin hye can't act and has no talent bcz she can't kiss seriously I think you either jealous or actually not knowing park shin hye , if you called that is my opinion sorry I see this insult for someone actually talented in many fields Dance , acting ,singing and MC with No company or sponsor powers I admire her every day she really working hard and also study (I hope God protect her from the bad things ).
If you judging her bcz Kiss all her characters were someone actually doesn't know how to kiss ;
In YAB she is living in church and wanting to be Nun tell me how nun know kissing .........!
In FBND is the same one is fearing to face people how can she kiss so easily
People actually I feel the kiss scene isn't the main thing I usually feel how strong the story will be .
If you know what i mean watch The Turkish dramas when you Watch you feel attracted yes it so long length drama but at least it well written script doesn't matter who act well actually it is The story , script and drama theme every thing after that is secondary and you talk about kiss .....................!
I want to say one thing they will act with each other sooner or later so face the truth and just respect the choices .
Park shin hye is a great name not measured by kissing scene , she is More than that so that is why they choose her .
I hope the drama will beat the expectation .
Good luck drama team especially Lee Min Ho and Park shin hye I hope both will have a good experience when you both act with each other :D

I hate flower boys. Or guys who are like super pale. I like them dark. (Sorry if this came off as offensive)

Park Shin Hye needs to start partnering up with men like So Ji Sub, Kang Dong Won, or Ha Jung Woo. Someone mentioned UhmForce and I would love to see her with him again.

Her with Lee Minho is such a letdown.

Gidget, I love your 1134 post. I wonder why there's no reply button after it. Hope you can read this far down. Anyway, i think there are some conservative actresses who are calibrating their growth in showbusiness. I think PSY will probably have conservative handlers who don't want her to go all in. But I am also aware that part of their attraction is exactly that. I feel that it is up to the director to get into that choreography with them (other than camera swirling). I am surprise though by how different SHG (the lead for TWTWB) was in World's Within and TWTWB. I know she eventually dated Hyun Bin from that movie. Notice too, the difference with the lead male actor in TWTWB in this show and Frozen Flower or even Memories in Bali. So, i think it has to do with the director, or writer on how the scene is played in his/her mind. And get the actors behaving in a way to come up with the desired effect, without compromising their modesty, if any, and not appear so wooden at all. Although from my examples, chemistry played a big part. But being actors, surely that can be created?

Thanks Merry! All the references you gave made me curious about those dramas. Think I'll start with Worlds Within.

I'm no expert, but would assume chemistry can be either natural or created. It just can't be that different than selling any other emotional aspect of a character.

Agree with you that the actors would need to collaborate. But in my mind to make it believable they have to go a step beyond guidance from a director. The essence of chemistry is a compelling attraction (whether it be physical, emotional, intellectual). It's palpable. So to feel genuine to the audience it'd have to come from an emotional place and from the actors looking through their characters eyes.

I suppose all this only works, though, is if the story lines and characters' personalities don't mysteriously shape-shift halfway through the production as the writers and PDs chase ratings. ;-)

God, this is gonna be epic!! I love them so much! :)
If only they chose Dara (2NE1) as the girl from Min Ho's past or something like that... They have great chemistry in Dara's MV "Kiss". My life would be complete if they had a drama together. *___*
