Yuri cast as Lee Jong-seok and Seo In-gook’s love interest

It’s a dirty job, but somebody’s gotta do it. The new sports movie No Breathing starring Lee Jong-seok (School 2013) and Seo In-gook (Answer Me 1997) as rival swimmers has finally locked in a confirmation for a leading lady in Girls’ Generation idol Kwon Yuri. This will be her first major starring role in a film, after playing the second lead in last year’s Fashion King.

You guys’ll have to tell me how she did, because I didn’t stick around long enough to see her in that drama. She did win a few popularity awards for the role, which were pretty much the only awards that drama will ever be associated with, but that only tells me she has lots of fans, which I already knew.

No Breathing comes from the writer of The Gift of Room 7 and Korea, and stars Lee Jong-seok as the golden boy swimmer who always comes in first, and Seo In-gook as the “genius swimmer” (snicker) who purposely stays away from swimming. Yuri plays an aspiring musician with a carefree personality who grew up with the boys as children. The three of them are lifelong friends who suddenly find themselves having to juggle love, friendship, and competition, all at once. That actually sounds really cute in a Last Match kind of way. Why is this not a drama??

The movie starts shooting next week for a release later this year, which is crazy since Lee Jong-seok has a drama starting in three weeks. Guess we’re not the only ones using the gateway to the fourth dimension around here.

OMG. Why her?
I don't have anything personal against her...but her acting is seriously.... well, let's just say it's definitely not worthy of being a main lead.

I know it sounds rude - but facts are facts. I really wonder why they pick such a newbie though. Even if they wanted someone from snsd, they should have picked either Yoona or Sooyoung.

Though I'm still not fond of those two, they definitely act better compared to Yuri.

Because they need the body! Yoona's or Sooyoung's body will not cut it tbh. And no offence but if the role is a musician, atleast Yuri's voice is better than the two.

Noooo! Bromance ftw! Why does there need to be a love interest?! They could just focus on the bromance and the challenges of a swimmer >.<

Yuri's character in fashion king pretty much had just one expression. Distant and depressed. There wasn't much depth to her character so I guess it probably wasn't too hard to pull off. The fact that I didn't like her character in Fashion King..well maybe she did do a good job then. :D

That's what fans always say about their own special idol prince or princess who can't act their way out of a paper bag.
1) Some never improve. Acting is a talent that some have and some don't. Some learn to fake it, some work hard to show off what little they have. Others continue to be an embarrassment and are given roles long after they should have been abandoned.
2) There are plenty of places to learn the ropes other than front and center in a leading role of a drama or movie. Instead of being an embarrassment to the show and themselves, they should figure out how to hide their deficiencies doing minor roles, guest stints, etc. And no, shaking your booty and lip-syncing to the song du jour on stage does not qualify as "acting experience."
3) Idols continue to get jobs because of buffoons like you, who will line up like sheep to watch them no matter how horrible they are.
4) "But [insert idol name here] is such a nice person! They deserve it!" Don't make me laugh. Idols are nice because they have PR firms working around the clock to make it so. No one in the entertainment business is a sweet little lamb, no one "deserves" it just because they have good spin.

Oh. Please. There are several actors/actresses who were also not good when they had their lead role.

Please read again what you wrote from nos. 1-4.. All things that you said..does not only apply to idols but to actors as well.

You have the right to voice out your opinion but it is not right to judge an artist or a fan.

FK plot sucks terribly...i have to admit it...and the only reason that kept me stay from watching it ..is YURI..with all honesty i've cried to all Yuri's sad scenes..like for example when she said she thought when she's still a child as long as she works hard everything would work well..and how she feels so heartbroken that the one she loves doesn't fight for her..well tbh i feel her(Yuri's) role more than the main female lead herself which is SSK..she's(SSK) totally blank with all her expressions..i didn't feel her not even once..she didn't leaved any impression to me,but blank expressions..as for a rookie Yuri did really well in portraying her role...even the pd who casted YURI himself admitted that it was a very tough role any idols could ever portray especially to a newbie which requires lots of emotions and effort, but the pd himself said that he's glad that Yuri met his expectation and YURI did well on portraying her role..her role's personality in FK which is very miserable and quite pessimistic in life was far from her cheerful and optimistic personality.. so pls.give her another chance and for sure just what she promised she will do her best to show viewers a more improved ,and more developed actress KWON YURI..don't jump into conclusion..watch the movie first..she is definitely going to be a great actress anyone could ever imagine..
