Running Man: Episode 159

It’s time to cool off from the heat as our cast battles it out to be the last couple standing. But with gold on the line, they’ll have to ask themselves the age-old question: Do you choose love or money? Or is it possible to have both? Perhaps maybe they need to focus on staying afloat instead.

EPISODE 159. Broadcast on August 18, 2013.

We begin at a classy outdoor party as our boys arrive dressed to impress. They grow excited about today’s Couple Race, and to help illustrate the concept, Maknae FD performs a not-a-magic doppelganger trick. Ha, his “twin” is an FD from Incarnation.

It’s time to meet today’s guests: actor Kim Kwang-kyu (I Hear Your Voice), who immediately responds to the lackluster welcome.

Older Running Man fans will recognize him from the show’s early days (Episodes 15 and 32). It still boggles my mind that Suk-jin is the hyung by a year. Kwang-kyu explains his presence as “young blood.” Ha.

There are a lot of names to get through today, so we barrel ahead with entertainer Fujita Sayuri aka Sayuri, whose 4D personality is apparent as soon as she walks in. Her partner Haha gawks, “She walks like this! *waddle*”

She admits that she had someone else is mind as a partner—Jong-kook. The reason cracks me up: “He’s lovable from head to toe!” HA, they’re lyrics from his former hit “Lovable.”

Then we’re introduced to returning guest and Suk-jin’s longtime friend Park Sang-myun. He says he’s the same age as Kwang-kyu, and that fact gives mat-hyung Suk-jin pause. Gah, this is where the age hierarchy thing gets hazy.

Basically, the order goes: Suk-jin (1966), Kwang-kyu (1967), and Sang-myun (1968). Suk-jin and Sang-myun call each other friends, and speak in banmal to each other. Sang-myun is an “early 68” which puts him close to the same year as Kwang-kyu. I’m getting flashbacks to the Tae-woong, Seon-kyun, and Su-geun ordeal in 1N2D.

We move on to Kwang-soo’s partner: singer John Park. Jong-kook calls out: “He’s another Kwang-soo!” Aw, and John says he really wanted to be paired with Kwang-soo.

When the cast asks why, John deadpans: “Why, is that wrong?” Omg, are you a fanboy? That’d be awesome. And then he links arms with Kwang-soo. Adorable.

Yessssss, the Monday Couple is paired together today! Ji-hyo: “You should be honored! It’s a Tuesday!” Hee.

Jong-kook’s partner is revealed to be singer-actress Kim Ye-rim. The others complain how Jong-kook lucked out today, and immediately tease him for his every move.

But that’s not all; they’re joined by real-life couple Jo Jung-chi and Jung In, who currently appear on We Got Married. They receive an initial flat response, and they get awkward-embarrassed when Ji-hyo calls out that they should hold hands.

Singer Jung In doesn’t seem too excited to be coupled with her singer-songwriter beau today. She names Kwang-soo as her first choice (he beams), which is when John stakes his claim and links arms again. Hahaha.

Does anyone else get the feeling that today’s group of guests are especially eclectic in their personalities? Jae-suk calls it “surreal,” but we’ll see how it shakes out.

Today’s theme is Jjak, 1% of Friendship, and the couples ooh and ahh over their legitimate gold bars. So they’re all ears as Jo PD explains how they’ll gain more through today’s games or steal them from the other couples. They’re responsible for their own gold, and the couple with the most bars will be declared our winners.

In the car, Jung-chi remarks that Ye-rim is the breadwinner for her company (her CEO is singer Yoon Jong-shin). Kwang-kyu says it’s the same with him, and Jung-chi says, “You all must eat a little then.”

Meanwhile, John comments on how he feels a camaraderie with Kwang-soo because he also shares a babo (“idiot”) image. Kwang-soo is left flabbergasted at that statement, and John follows up with: “But aren’t you kinda like that anyway?”

They settle for the friendlier term heodang (hard-working but with a few flaws) and tell themselves that they’re just different from everyone else. John’s monotonous delivery is pretty hilarious, and he adds: “If we don’t win, we just won’t contact each other [afterwards].”

Sayuri says that she’d like to get married soon, and doesn’t hesitate to mention Jong-kook’s name. So Haha fills her in on Jong-kook’s usual type: modest and lady-like.

Everyone piles into a cabin when they arrive, and I love how Gary jokes: “We don’t have our own room?” Then Sayuri comments that Sang-myun’s rubber duckie shirt makes him look like a duck restaurant owner.

Somehow they fit everyone in, and they’re so caught up in their conversation (about how John looks like the handsome babo) that they have no idea that the staff is at work setting up mats outside.

Haha tries to play matchmaker for his friend with Jong-kook. Sayuri even appeals to his health fanatic side: “Do you want to eat chicken breast together? Shall we drink protein [shakes] together?” HA, what a perfect pick-up line for Spartakooks.

They’re suddenly interrupted by the sound of music to signal their first game. It’s basically survival of the fittest as the couples try to push each other out of the room whenever the music cuts out.

Commence dance-off! Sayuri is so shameless in the entertaining way, so I can see how she thrives in variety. Although by far my favorite is our newly-instated Babo Brothers as John sidles up to Kwang-soo, making him that much more uncomfortable.

The whistle blows and madness ensues. It looks like Kwang-soo is in danger, but then Jae-suk is pushed out the door. He swings around like Spiderman, but it isn’t long before the others free his grip. Defenseless, Kwang-kyu joins him.

Thus Jae-suk is subjected to act as MC as the rest climb into the next party room, complete with disco ball. Kwang-kyu says that he’d really like Jong-kook to be eliminated, but wants his partner Ye-rim to stay because “she’s pretty.”

They break it down on the dance floor. Did… Sang-myun just bust a breakdance move? HA. Just when they grow comfortable to the music, the whistle blows. It doesn’t look good for the Babo Brothers because everyone turns to them for elimination.

John falls out easily enough, but Kwang-soo holds onto Sang-myun for dear life. But then Sang-myun falls backwards which leads to a butt-to-face fall. Owww.

We skip ahead after the Jung-Jung couple is eliminated, and now this game has turned into a mini talk show. Jae-suk enjoys his power as MC over the remaining couples, making them do calisthenics just because he can. Suffice it to say, they’re not happy about it.

Two couples must go this round, and Suk-jin and Sang-myun come tumbling out. Then Gary and Haha fall out, and Sayuri takes on Jong-kook on her own. An excuse for skinship, perhaps?

Jong-kook steps out so the ladies can duke it out, and poor Ye-rim doesn’t even stand a chance against the Ace and Sayuri.

It’s the final round between Sayuri and Haha versus the Monday Couple as they all dance to a Turbo song. HA, and Jong-kook is singing it himself outside. Daebak.

The music cuts out again, and I find it hilarious that Haha and Gary can’t overpower each other. But then, Ji-hyo grabs Haha’s leg, and after some more struggle, he falls out.

It’s raining pretty heavily now, and the Monday Couple push Sayuri out for the win. The Monday Couple pick up two more gold bars, and the Haha-Sayuri couple pick up one.

Jae-suk sighs at the sight of Jung-chi and Jung In bickering in the car like any normal couple. But soon the spotlight shines on Kwang-kyu, who’s unmarried, and Jung-chi jokes to his sunbae that it’s happier when you’re taken.

The cast exchanges a few jokes before their second game, like how Sang-myun squints his eyes because Kwang-kyu’s receding hairline reflects the light. Jae-suk adds that they were electrocuted by lightning earlier.

Jae-suk stops to check if John has any trouble with the jokes (John is Korean-American and spent most of his life in the States). John nods that he understands: “I’m not that dumb.”

It’s an all-kill water quiz where the last couple standing wins. Jae-suk and Kwang-kyu are pitted against Suk-jin and Sang-myun in the first round, who seem confident about their first question.

But then they grow nervous when the other teams volunteer to shoot the water guns at them should they answer incorrectly. They do, and the others let them have it. HA.

At one point, Haha even shoots water at Kwang-kyu’s bald head. Round and round they go, calling out wrong answers left and right. Eventually, Jae-suk answers correctly.

Later, Haha and Sayuri face the Babo Brothers. Kwang-soo gets red in the face at the question: “In Europe, if you let a woman touch your… [it once meant you gave her your consent for love]?” Kwang-soo gets hit with a jet of water to get his mind out of the gutter. Hee.

I love how Jo PD stops to burst in laughter just thinking about the moment again. He eventually finishes the question, and both teams call out random body parts: “Armpit!” “Nostril!” John gets it right (“Mustache”).

The following question asks for a proverb that encapsulates when you miss someone you can’t sleep. Gary gets it right, but the others point out that he mumbled out his answer. They ask him to repeat it, and he gets it wrong.

The Babo Brothers are on a roll now, and Jung-chi sighs how sad it would be if they lost in this final round after all of that effort.

Ooh, this is an interesting question: “If female students hate being serenaded to Lim Jae-bum’s ‘Confession’ in noraebang, then what do male students hate to hear?” Kwang-soo: “Pippi Longstocking’s ‘I like Strawberries’!”

For a minute there, I thought that Kwang-soo meant the iconic cartoon character. Turns out he’s referring to a band.

Jung-chi is HILARIOUS. He names a few girl group songs and starts dancing to them right then and there. His SISTAR19’s “Gone Not Around Any Longer” dance cracks me up. The answer is IU’s “Good Day,” and now I’m stuck imagining a plethora of girls trying to hit those insane high notes

Surprisingly, Kwang-soo gets the next question right, and the Babo Brothers celebrate: “We’re the smartest [out of all of you] you idiots!”

After they collect their gold, Jong-kook mentions that their gold went missing. Ruh-oh. To make matters worse, Jo PD says that he asked the staff, but none of them has seen it.

So Jong-kook takes it up with the cast, and wonders if he should take it to court then. Cue Kwang-kyu, who played a judge in I Hear Your Voice. Hahaha.

They temporarily put those worries aside for the next game. Here, they’ll construct their own boats out of cardboard boxes and race to the finish. Suk-jin points to his partner: “I’ll sink with him in the boat!”

Everyone gets to work to build their own creation. That is, everyone apart from the Babo Brothers, who look completely lost. The Monday Couple decides to go with a raft idea, which Suk-jin seems eager to borrow.

I suppose it’s not as bad as Jae-suk and Kwang-kyu, who have a sad piece of tape attached to their box. They argue over whether it will sink (Jae-suk) or not (Kwang-kyu), and a snippet shows us that that may be the least of their problems.

Jung-chi has carefully calculated his design so that it resembles an actual boat. Aw, it’s sweet to see how concerned he is for Jung In when she accidentally hits her head.

It’s a different story between Jae-suk and Kwang-kyu of course as they continue to bicker about what will keep their boat afloat. They do come together to potentially sabotage other couples’ boats, but don’t get a chance.

Ha, did Sang-myun and Suk-jin make a sidecar for a boat? I like how everyone has fairly unique designs, since it makes it all the more entertaining for us as viewers to see what will succeed or not.

Right now, my money’s on Jung-chi and Jung In. Jae-suk [on their design]: “It’s a coffin, hyung!”

It’s time to put their hard work to the test. We start out with Suk-jin and Sang-myun’s sidecar boat, and surprisingly, it floats… and then we see that they’re still on the steps. Hee.

It still manages to float somehow, and then they both yell out: “The water’s leaking in!” They get a slow start, but eventually start moving, and make it to the finish line.

As expected, everyone praises Jung-chi’s boat which floats just fine. The solid construction enables him to travel quickly down the pool (as the couple face each other, aw), and they have a mini-date as they row back to the other end of the pool.

Later on, it’s Jae-suk and Kwang-kyu’s turn with their casket—I mean boat which starts to shake as soon as they get in. And then, Jae-suk’s oar breaks.

Their boat really does look like it’s going to capsize any second now, and Jae-suk quips: “Hyung, this really must be our coffin.”

Whoa, they fall into a rhythm right from the start, and their boat zooms down the pool. Hee, is it a survival instinct kicking in? They pass the finish line in what seems like record time and celebrate… by falling into the pool. Not a moment too soon!

Then we have the Monday Couple whose raft works out pretty well. I like these side-by-side comparisons we’re getting with different teams, which gives us a picture as to how fast they’re going. At one point, we can’t even see the Babo Brothers onscreen.

Cut to: Babo Brothers helplessly trying to row away from the wall. HA. They end up spinning aimlessly in the water until they finally row themselves to the finish, and end up in 6th place. John: “We’re not dead last!”

The top three teams all come in under a minute. The difference between the Jung-Jung couple and Monday Couple is mere hundredths of a second.

And what of Jae-suk and Kwang-kyu? 42.25 seconds. Daebak.

Slightly bitter, Gary yells, “They dragged out a refrigerator box and won with it!”

Every couple apart from Jong-kook and Ye-rim has a small pile of gold now, and Jong-kook demands that the burglar return it. Haha asks what he’ll do if it’s Kwang-kyu, but age hierarchy means nothing in front of the law.

Which is when they notice the extra gold bar in Jung In’s bag. “They said we can steal them [from each other]!” Hahaha, well she’s not wrong.

Jung-chi: “She even threw out Ye-rim’s bag in the trash.” Gotta get rid of the evidence, right? His blood boiling, Jong-kook shouts: “Then I can just steal them, can I?” Uh-oh, I don’t know if any of you want to stand a fight against Spartakooks.

The Monday Couple and Jung-chi and Jung In are joint winners, and Jo PD has another mission planned for them. Gary: “What do you expect us to do with these scammers?” Heh.

The others are forced to give up their gold, to much outcry. Then Jo PD presents the couples with a choice: Do they choose the gold or their partner? If both choose jjak, then they’ll leave with love; if both choose gold, they’ll forfeit the lot; if they choose differently, then the one who chose gold will take the lot. Oooh.

Jong-kook suggests an option that allows the others to divide the gold amongst themselves if both parties are greedy and choose gold. Jo PD grants it. They all chant: “Gold! Gold!”

The Monday Couple is up first… and Gary chooses jjak. Eee! His reason: “If Ji-hyo chooses gold, then I can get it from her.” Then Ji-hyo does the sketchbook confession from Love Actually… and chooses Gary. AHHHH!!!!

Aww, Gary looks totally surprised, and then he barks: “Why didn’t you choose the gold?” Ha, these two.

Then our Jung-Jung couple is up, and Jung-chi chooses gold. Everyone waits with anticipation for Jung In’s answer… is jjak. They win their loot of four gold bars.

But then Jo PD reveals that the best prize is if both parties chose jjak. So the Monday Couple doubles their loot, making them rich on love and gold. Monday Couple for the win!

Let's see what I skipped through this time: the entire boat building segment. 3rd consecutive week of no name tag tearing. Thankfully the next episode seems very good.

This was an episode to keep for MC fans, and since I'm too much of a realist to believe in MC, to me this episode is meh

oh well, i guess after weeks of monday couple being in separate teams, the PDs had to push them together again.

it was not an exciting ep by any stretch of imagination (seems like i'm watching variety, not action variety, which running man is supposed to be).

my fave moment: when turbo's childhood dream came on, and the original singer jong kook started singing live outside, and then cue turbo fan girl ji hyo peeking out of the room to hear the voice

lol yes I noticed that too when the turbo music came out out popped Ji Hyo. It would be a great plan on other mission when hiding to play a turbo song and the just wait for her head to pop up so you can catch her..lol

Six guests, and not a single one that interested me. First episode out of the last fifty that I just skipped as a waste of time.

I actually find this episode quite funny without being complicated. Not sure if people who don't like it is because they don't know who the guests are (so they cannot relate to them) or are just being mean by giving simply non-constructive comments. I hope they know that churning out 'exciting' episodes week after week is no easy feat, and if we want RM to go on, we need to support it. Variety is meant to be light-hearted and entertaining. Why so serious?

I agree. It's not great art, it's variety TV. And I enjoyed this week's episode too.

I agree w/ you... I don't look at variety with the scrutinizing eye I use to look at dramas. I just enjoy it, take a break from depressing stuff (like some dramas LOL) and just laugh. Because it really is funny. :))

I find it very entertaining too. I enjoy the quirkiness of the guests, even when I don't know who the girl who wanted to marry Jong Kook was, or who John Park, etc. But I guess for me I've always really enjoyed how the RMs interact. Go RM!

john park is kwangsoo 2.0! and how he links his arm to kwangsoo..so adorable.hahaa..

i like sayuri! (like most female guest who is into jong kook),she's very straight forward.and that loveable lyrics reference is funny.

JJC & Jung In couple is allright.showed few sweet moments during boat making & boat rowing (aww..date while shoot?is like WGM in RM for a moment).

KwangKyu & Sang Myun are ok as both of them know their partners and already experienced in variety show.

Not much of Kim Yerim though. She's new and partnered w JongKook, with too many guests, she's kind of left behind a bit..

but finally, this week is like a survival game right? i hope it will be fun as there is not guests. (but the other week will be Shinhwa,im looking forward to that.it's about time!)

The survival race won't have guests? I was really hoping so :) The concept seems like it's going to be fun and I love when the cast has a chance to just focus on each other. No holding back for the sake of a guest or having to pull punches (or punchlines). Can't wait to see how it all pans out.

Shinhwa! woot~~♥
but no Dongwan T_T
I love his gift of gab and how he rambles on and on when he's on a roll.
But still.....so excited for RM next week. The Legends are back in town! It's almost like X-Man again.

I admit I'm not much of a Monday Couple fan and I love the tag races, but I still really enjoyed this episode. The guests were a fun eclectic bunch and I thought the pairings were pretty great. I liked that they had to do some games we haven't seen them do before (or at least I haven't as I've only seen from episode 90 or so on). I appreciate that the PD's try to mix it up and the cast does a really good job rolling with it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. For me it worked this time :)

I admit that in this episode there was was a weird mix of guests, but having such a random bunch of people and the interactions that surged with and within the cast were gold. The episode was fun in a laid back way and at the same time, it felt very experimental. (The good kind though.) I throughly appreciated that we had some games that hadn't been done before. It was time for the PD's to shake things a little bit.

And of course...
MONDAY COUPLE FOR THE WIN! *tears of joy*

This episode wasn't over-the-top funny but it did have its funny moments. I like Sayuri's pickup line, Monday couple moments (including the ending prisoner's dilemma questions!!) the boat racing part where I was amazed they could finish the race.

Thanks for the recap gummi!

I really enjoyed this ep. I see rm as mainly having 2 modes: the light, laid back eps and the high-intensity, action based concept eps. The best episodes are a mixture of the two. But even though this one had a slower pace, I think the eclectic guests really stole the show, especially sayuri with her hilariously offbeat antics. The boat game was also a nice addition, which comes not a moment too soon, since God knows, we're all sick of the ddakji (and quite a few others) games already.

Btw, who always was shocked when Ji-hyo chose jjak?? I was convinced she'd choose gold ( because of her track record with hoarding gold hah) since that's the way the mc couple usually works, with gary usually playing the one sided love swain lol. That twist at the end totally had me squealing :D

It's amazing how Running Man can have such a wide range of audience. I can't believe that some people didn't find this episode hilarious or at least, funny O.O

The guests were all entertaining and competitive (except for Yerim who, I was so sure, would be the quiet type. Why bother to come in varierty, seriously)
The games were gold gold gold. I liked the first one when they were all in the same room. I should do that with my friends someday xD. I laughed so hard at Yoo Jae Suk in dance craze. YooHyuk <3
And I'm fangirling and shipping Kwang Soo and John Park. I didn't expect him to be that funny. Not because he is a ballad singer but because he doesn't give the vibe. Good for for though ;D

Before, I wasn't bothered by the comments which regretted not having tearing nametag as a game because I was fine with the way RM became, news games, creativity and all but I can understand a little bit more when they miss the legendary hide and seek. I think it's good they don't do it in every episode because like someone said, it's predictable and so, maybe the PDs want the game to be anticipated and not just "oh, that again".

I can't wait for next week. I'm confused if this is guests (Shinhwa) or no guests but perso, I don't care. There are "good" episodes with or without guests.

And by the way, I liked Son Hyun Joo's interview about RM. He said he was very happy to be there with them, had a great time and learned to respect entertainers because they run all day long and laugh all day long lol.

I'm with you on the Soo-Jon ship! Lol I have no idea that John Park will be so touchy-feely. He's so funny and my favorite moment: I'm not that stupid.

Apart from John Park, I only know Kim Gwangyu & Park Sangmyun, but I don't even know they're coming because the subber just put their name as 'etc.' in the file (lol).

But the rest of the guests were awesome! Jung-Jung couple wasn't only sweet, i love how Jung In stole Yerim's gold. And Sayuri... what a precious girl.

Yerim didn't really do anything memorable except appearing (she's a rookie, isn't she? I was really surprised that someone as new as her got to appear on RM!), but that's okay because the other guests & cast are doing their job well.

Which reminds me to ask this question to nobody in particular:
Why do the crew keep pushing Jongkook with a female guest?! Was there something in his contract that states, "Kim Jongkook must have a random blind date every five episodes or so and he must get married by 40, to someone that has appeared on RM".

I don't get it. He's shy enough as he is. The only female guests that I think did well with him were Lee Boyoung (she's just as determined as he is), and Han Gain (that's because he had a role that he knew he could play). Other times, it was just... awkward.

in the beginning, I thought there were too many guests but then RM somehow makes it all work. this was really a fun episode to watch... :) love all the games but most of all the paper-boat making and boat race... loved the coffin boat of Jaesuk and Kwangkyu... they rowed so fast because if they stop, they'll sink bwahaha... and of course, loved the MC moments to bits.. especially that WONDERFUL HUG at the end... play, watch, rewind, play... hahaha

It was a great episode, when you have such a large amount of guests appear in one episode it usually works against the show but I beg to differ, the only guest that didn't have much input at all was Kim Yerim but it didn't bother me to be honest. The intro to the end was funny in my books, I love it when they just do missions cause you get to see them as a collective joke around with each other more than when they are split into halves and made to rip each others tags off. The show has to change it up, the moment they become redundant with one certain aspect of the show is when they'll fail.

Totally agree that Song Ji Hyo does looks really thin. I saw it in previous ep but this ep is too noticeable. Hopefully it's not because her weight has been revealed several times in RM so she chose to go on for diet. She might lose energy necessary to run. True fans love her just as who & what she is.

John Park is adorable and he fits really well wih Kwangsoo (I already loved him in Our neighbourhood variety sports).

And Monday Couple FTW!

Oh and the boat the Jung Jung couple built looked amazing! I guess mine would've looked like Jae Suk's and Kwang Kyu's "coffin" xD

Looking forward to next week's guest less episode! RM staff against each other...rarely disappoints :)

tbh, I was a bit skeptical when the teaser came out the previous week but I gotta admit I was quite surprised as 'twas actually one very nice episode. usually when they bring in a large number of guests who aren't really familiar with each other, it just makes the show seem less entertaining cause of the awkwardness and all. but this episode begged to differ. Most of the guests were entertaining in their own ways, I mean who would've thought that John Park is the 2nd Kwang Soo? he was hilarious! loved seeing returning guests, the two ahjusshis. haha they never fail to crack me up. Sayuri was a pleasent surprise. I hope she would get invited again. As for our real couple, they actually made me want to watch WGM. they're seriously the cutest couple ever, I mean come on the scene when Jung Chi just kept asking Jung In if she was okay or not was so sweet and adorable :D and yeah for Yerim, of course she would get edited out, she's still a newcomer and all so we can't really expect her to behave like her seniors right? She did good tbh

of course we all love the whole name tag ripping and stuff but it's good to have this kind of concept once in a while. I remember watching the older RM episodes, it was getting boring cause we knew what was coming in every episode so I'm glad they're planning it like the way it is. plus I believe the PDs are doing it this way to give the members some break.

It kinda makes it more entertaining for the next episode: survival concept is by far my most favorite one so this whole laid back theme is building up our excitement.

A true RM fan will always support the show no matter how boring the episode is. We know how it's like to struggle with the ratings and all so we gotta be proud that RM is doing fantastic now.

RM HWAITING!

If only Yoo Eun Hye partner with Kim Jong kook instead of Yerim.. That girl is too awkward because she is a new comer.. But I understand why she is pair with Jong Kook since she is a fragile/ helpless girl that need protection.

I also do not like the guest Sayuri because she is so exegerated and weird. There is a fine line of being desperate and being enterataining.. I would like to think of her for being entertaining but nope, I dun like her and she stole their gold ( since it is a rule) but.. I just dun like that.

Classic moments:
1) Jong Kook performing to his turbo hit song life!! Bravo!! Gonna love this guy!! ?
2) The boat making and how Yoo Jae suk said theirs look like coffin. ?
3) Jung Chi and his dance move at the chair. ?
4) Spartakook push all the guys out and eliminate himself when left with ladies. ? who dares to mess with Spartakook?? Haha ?
5) The two uncle guests were funny. ✌
6) John Park and Lee Kwang Soo Babo couple. ? Finally someone that can match Kwang Soo.
7) Monday Couple and they surprisingly choose each other. ? It may be script but I like it.
8) Love is in the air for real life couple Jung Chi and Jung In. ?
9) Ji Suk Jing look younger than the two guests. ?He does look good for his age.
10) everyone cheers for Monday Couple especially HaHa and Jong Kook!! ❤
11) Haha mention Jong Kook is fond of feminine and modest girl..?
12) John Park is surprising hilarious with Kwang Soo. They even won the quiz game. ?

Thank you for the recap. Looking forward to the next episode!!! Look promising and yeah name tag tearing game!!! ???

Sayuri did not steal the gold, Jung In stole the gold. Sayuri was very entertaining and she knew how to make things funny. It was a gag: she knew that Jong Kook liked "feminine" girls and yet she kept doing the opposite, even as she was pretending to seduce him.

Sayuri didn't steal the gold, Jung In did. And while I did think that Sayuri's walk down the hill was a little weird, her quips and jokes in the rest of the episode were very variety appropriate and amusing!

Thanks for recap. I enjoyed this one; lots of funny "small" moments. LKS lascivious thoughts about what male body part European women touched back in the day ala skinship & the "cool off" sprays that followed was funny. The same age friend deal is complicated.

I liked this episode. I don't need a tag everytime. I kinda had a quibble with the long boat-making sequence, but the actual race was hilarious. (Especially considering the most dysfunctional boat won.)

Also the ending too...

John Park and Kwang Soo made such a good couple, I mean in the friendship comedic sense.

I like diverse range of games and experimentations too.

I found this episode very funny. Thumbs up.

For this ep I felt like I was watching a summer camp/team building retreat video.

We used to have that in my company once every year, where everyone grumbles about having to go, begs for less strenuous games, wrack our brains on how to overcome the challenges, and then comes back exhausted but with memorable incidents to recall and stronger bonds.

So thanks RM, for making me relive these experiences again. ♥

It was not a thrilling or suspenseful ep that most fans are used to, but it does have its small moments. And I do think that this ep is still a success, given how the personalities of most of the guests shine through.

I guess since I'm not a realist when I'm watching K-variety, and I watch them for fun to escape my stressful real life, I enjoyed this episode. The Babo Brothers really cracked me up. And John Park's adoration for Kwang Soo is.. Adorable!
I found it funny that he wore Leessang cap as well during the water gun game.
I liked all the guests as well, although I couldn't really say the same for Kim Yerim. Sometimes I forgot that she's there.
And I loved the MC moment as well. The ending reminds me of the early episode of RM in a cruise ship at Busan, when the girls have to choose who they want to be paired up with. Jihyo also flip the notebook the same thing with the notebook like what she did in this episode... ^__^

It's Monday I'm in love. haha! I don't really follow RM until recently. I only watched few eps. w/ my fave guess star on it (pssh..boo!), but then the "Monday Couple" piqued my interest ensuing a youtube MV marathon. Now, I'm backtracking all the eps. It's the power of (make-believe) love right there. Mongji + KangGari jjang!

Always love reading your recaps on RM!
I thought that this episode was pretty funny. I love Kwangsoo and John Park, the possessive streak John has for Kwangsoo is too cute! BROMANCE <3
The best couple is as expected, Monday Couple! Their so suited for one another. Though Ji Hyo currently dating CJES CEO T____T Oh wells! At least they can live out their awesome chemistry through RM.
I wonder how the real life couple is going to go overcome this. I mean she chose partner and he chose gold (which is understandable and realistic). Though I feel she will be cut by it!

I really loved this episode. Who cares if the guests aren't the biggest current stars, the pairing was wonderful (except for Jong-kook's partner, unless they were going for equally awkward with the opposite sex?). The boat building was the best part, I thought. And for the final competition, I'd really expected Gary to choose partner and Jihyo to choose gold, but I think she's too smart for the producers, knowing that if it's a partner show, choosing your partner should have the biggest reward.

Thank you, gummimochi, for the recap. I had some confusion over a few parts, and reading your recap cleared everything up. I couldn't understand why guys wouldn't want to hear IU's song, but in reading your recap, I realize I missed that it was they don't want to hear other people trying to sing it karaoke style! And now I understand why Jae-suk asked John Park if he understood everything, thanks to your recap. Even so, his response as part of the Babo Brothers was just right. :D
