Kim Sun-ah’s The Five releases teaser poster

It’s been a long time since this movie was first announced, but Kim Sun-ah’s next project The Five is finally headed to theaters. The film is an adaptation of a popular webtoon, a revenge thriller about a woman who loses her family and sacrifices everything to find their killer. It’s the first dark thriller for the rom-com queen, and she looks like she’s ready for a fight. I love the angry tears in the poster. Her tagline: “If I could just catch him I’d rip out my heart and give it to you.”
The movie stars Kim Sun-ah as a woman who survives a brutal attack, and watches her husband and daughter murdered right in front of her. She ends up half-paralyzed and in a wheelchair, and vows to find their killer and make him pay. She actually puts her organs down as collateral to fund her revenge mission, which uh… makes her poster tagline literal. Damn. There’s badass and then there’s badass.
She puts together a team — The Five — to help her in her scheme, and the ragtag crew full of disenfranchised people ends up forming a little family. Well, a dark, revenge-fueled family. Co-starring are Shin Jung-geun (Covertly Grandly), Jung In-ki (Two Weeks), Park Hyo-joo (The Chaser) Ma Dong-seok (The Flu), Ohn Joo-wan (Sword and Flower), and Lee Chung-ah (Wonderful Mama).
The movie will be written and directed by the webtoon’s original creator, Jung Yeon-shik, in his directorial debut. The Five premieres in theaters in November.

i've been eager to see kim sun-ah try something other than rom-com cause she feels like a good actress, but hasn't stretched her repertoire to prove that she's can handle a variety of roles. this looks dark and intense and am so relieved to see her not as dolled up as in her last few roles. would definitely like to give this movie a try.

why don't you try to watch this movie She on Duty..her role as a detective,full of action and funny..other lead is gong yoo & ha jung woo.. :)

ah yes, i loved watching her and gong yoo in she's on duty. it was such a fun ride throughout. it still feel mostly rom-commy though, all the action included. not like that's a bad thing, of course.

Ooooooo . . . I looked at that poster for a long moment until I recognized that sneer. And the lips were too beautiful for it to be a guy, unless I had turned gay overnight.
When our Kim Sun Ah sneers like that, romcon or not, someone's butt is is going to get kicked so HARD . . .

Okay, this is totally irrelevant, but: I LOVE HER HAIR.
Not in the poster, obviously, but in the cast pic! It's a gorgeous look for her - pixie-ish and mischievous. (Now I'm actually wondering if I can style my hair like that. Not that I'd look as good, but still. *g*)
But actually on the topic of the movie: I'm very glad that she's expanding her repertoire in a different idrection, and I'm certain she will do incredible things with the role. Unfortunately, it sounds as though this movie will be a bit too dark and bleak for me...

LOL!!! I screaming like a fan-girl, my sister thought I'm crazy!!! So happy to see that it's coming to theaters soon. Now I have to wait for her Chinese drams to finish which is going to take ages to be release (Somewhere next year). Can't for her to sign for her new K-drama. Fighting The Five!!!!

I liked the part about the little family they created. It sounds cute, if cutesy can find room in this kind of movies. I'm not a fan of revenge movies, I'm fed up with the same plot every time. Koreans do love spending a life time making others pay for their sins, I wonder how justice works in that part of the world...In my case, I prefer leaving it all to Karma and the Heavens XD

Love Kim Sun-ah! But is it me or she looks completely different every time I see her? If an article or caption doesn't say it's her, I wouldn't even know it, lol. Either way, it doesn't matter....I love her acting chops, love her looks, and will definitely love to see her as a badass.

Well MY first Dorama was City hall and Kim sun ah and Mr cha always will be in my heart.
She is a great actress scent of woman was a great role, not only a rom com,and she started doing films before dramas.
I would like doing more roles in a cable drama because each year is producing a jewel,last year CREDENTIAL,s wife and the End of the World and this year CRUEL CITY...Kbs and the others is doing all the time the same -chaebol with a poor girl and so and so...

She was pretty badass in the movie Yesterday. I watched her in that after I finished My Lovely Samsoon. I love this actress. Now, pair her up again with So Ji Sub (since it can't be me) and I'll be a very happy woman!!! :-D

What will be important in pulling me in is how ad why the Team of Five buy into her scheme which is so personal to her. Will they have their own related or nonrelated issues with the killer, or will the writer have the daunting task of convincing us that their connection to Kim Sun ah are binding enough for revenge? Rag-tag and disenfranchised are not enough alone, so it will be important how they are all tied together.

I think the five has some personal issues of their own and her body organ seems to be what they want. but we will see, I guess that's another thing the movie has going for itself. I want it to be like a roller coaster ride, not knowing when the drops turns and flips going to happen. Just here for the ride *Hopes it's a great one*

haven't we all been waiting for something on this movie. now i want to see it's trailer. it's been so long since kim sun ah has done something & someone mentioned a chinese tv drama, is that correct? i've missed seeing her on the screen (big/small).
by the way, she & so ji sub did do a tv drama/sitcom together around 2000. i've only seen bits of it. & i believe they are good friend off screen too!

Yup. I saw bits and pieces on Youtube. I think its called Joa Joa. Kwon Oh Joon was in it also. I've tried desperately for years to find the full drama!

I`m sure KSA fans are rejoicing again. We`ve been waiting for this movie. Girls Scout was the last movie she made and even KSA has been considered best actress in most of the TV drama that she made, she haven`t won a best actress award for movies. I have the feeling that this movie will give her that award. Love her since MNIKSS days and I love her more!

Cant wait to see this. I hope she will go all out with this character. In her last 2 dramas it felt like she was stiff and unnatural. I mean come on her hair never even moved. It was like she was to worried about her looks. I would like to see her play a roll naturally, more like her Kim Sam Soon character.
