First look at Pretty Man’s cast at drama prayer ceremony

These photos aren’t from the drama proper, only the pre-show prayer ceremony, but I think they count as our first look at Pretty Man, the upcoming KBS romantic comedy starring Jang Geun-seok (as the titular pretty man), Lee Jang-woo (as the pretty-hearted second lead), IU as the (supposedly) utterly average heroine, and Han Chae-young playing yet another glam character.
The drama touts the story as a romance between “the most unbalanced pairing.” (Because he’s so pretty, see, and she’s so very average.) The hero sets out to date ten of the most successful women in Korea (only the top 1%!), because some reason. But instead, he will grow and mature and eventually come to fall for our heroine, the ordinariest ordinary girl who’s been in love with him for ten years.
I suspect the drama will release information about the ten successful women in a steady trickle; the first two have already been announced, and are pictured at bottom. So Yoo-jin (Happy Ending) is the older woman who falls for him, while Kang Ye-won (Who Are You) plays a woman who can read and control people’s feelings. I’m not sure if they mean that literally (as in, paranormal powers) or if it’s just a poetic way to describe a manipulative person, but in any case she teaches the hero how to move people’s hearts. Great, give the heartbreaker even MORE power to break hearts.
The drama still sounds a lot like plot mishmash to me, but I’m holding out hope that it’ll all come together in the final product. Hey, maybe they just have a terrible promo department with no idea how to pique interest or sell a rom-com. To think, that might actually be the best-case scenario here.
Pretty Man follows Secret on Wednesdays and Thursdays and premieres on November 20.

Sorry but TVXQ/JYJ members (except for changmin) Kim Hyun Joong, Lee Seungi, Lee Minho must go before JGS after all they are older than him. It wont be fair to him to be called first while he is the youngest compare to them. :)

actually they can pretty much enlist anytime after they hit 18 years of age. And it's not gonna be unfair to older actors or whatever. Take a look at Yoo Seung-ho who just enlisted this year. He's 20 years old.

Its because many who do not like JGS would always suggest that he joins the army. Well its not up to them, its either he'll decide to go soon voluntarily (like YSH) or receive a draft letter - and those celebrities older than him should be ask to enlist first before him, in fairness.

Okay, I'm just going to have to disagree with the majority here about the hair. I've seen some truly diasterous hair styles sported by JGS, along with some really eyebrow raising fashions, and to me, simply having long hair is pretty tame for him. The color is very normal looking, no length asymmetry, nothing. Simply long. I had to laugh at all the protests over his long hair, when normally, posters are swooning at the prospects of actors sporting a "mane of glory."
A cursory Youtbe search will turn up some wildly varying JGS hair styles, so I can't really fathom the complaints about his style appearing "boring". I also don't see any jawline changes drastic enough to engender so many accusations of jaw shaving surgery. For one thing, a person's facial structure can appear different depending upon changes in camera angle. He looks pretty much the same to me from year to year. Youth tends to bring with it a certain baby-faced facial fullness that diminishes with age, but again, I don't detect a drastic change one way one another.
I also just finished re-watching Love Rain, and was completely floored by how thin he was in that drama. Not just thin either, but fine boned. His frame actually appeared almost delicate. I kept yelling at the screen, "dude, eat something!"
Since I'm actually a pretty big JGS fan, so I'll be sure to check this one out. IU is an actress who can appear quite plain to me, or absolutely gorgeous, depending upon how she's made up. I thought there were times during Lee Soon Shin when I she carried off plain quite well. I have no doubt she can make "average" very credible for this role. Hope DramaFever will make this drama available. They seem intent on widening their Latin drama offerings, perhaps to the detriment of increasing Kdrama options. I have no interest in the Latin ones, so I'm not exactly happy with this programming shift.

Thanks For that Comment . You spoke like a person who observed JGS moves closely all through the years i.e only which his fans can do.
Also I agree to what you have said about JGS character in LR , he was skinny but I think in YAB he was Way too Skinny , I literally freaked out when I saw him in Skin Fit Costumes in comparision LR look was better.
Though I have no problem with him sporting a Long hair , but I jus want him to Cut it so that these people stop pouncing at him for that one goddamn reason uggghhh!!!

I WILL DEFINITELY WATCH BEAUTIFUL MAN. I like JKS in You're Beautiful, Hong Gil Dong, Beethoven Virus etc (except Marry Me Mary and Love Rain). Overall, he is one of the smartest Korean actor I know.
Many are pissed with him because he is very frank, but he is who he is.

Exactly atleast he doesn't pretend or Fake things like many others. I think there are people who still like the Real Personalities like him.
His Co-stars like working with him...He is very genuine with Fans. As an Artist he has all the qualities one can have to the finest (atleast for me he has)
As an Artist he is worth Watching and Admirable .
If it has to be personality I love him more for being who he is , Little Crazy , Cute , Funny , Positive Thinking , Confident , Loves Driving Cars , Mature , Well Mannered with Females , Strong , Bold .

I've been a fan of his since before his YAB days and I can't even begin to say how much I hate this "I-don't-have-any-name-for-it" stint of his. But I'll take this. I'll take Jang Geun-seok in any form. I'll probably bitch about his hair and something during the dramas' duration but I'm thankful for this. Thanks a lot drama! Although I think, November 20 is too much too soon! It's less than a month of preparation. Gaaaah. Watching KoD made me paranoid of the live shoot system. Good luck drama. please be awesome and kickass.

Don't they have Animal Cruelty Protection group or sort in S. Korea? Most media around the world do not show graphic animal cruelty as this also the do mention that no animals have been harmed while making the film or so even if they do show some sort of cruelty...
I know the Pig's head is a traditional thing during starting off a ceremony for auspiciousness but this is too much! This so graphic. Even with the cute looking people in the photo and those light pastel colour, the dead pig's head doesn't look good in the poster in any which way. For an animal lover like me, it is just too graphic and unpalatable.
I hope they realize that the chopped head looks deadly, sad, graphic and not nice... Hope Korean animal lovers do something about it :/

I don't really know about the drastic change or anything but I think he's still very cute although it wouldn't hurt to gain a little weight or muscle
And someone mentioned something about Lee Min Ho looking different in Heirs.that is so true aside from losing his adorable big cheeks from CH and Faith days he just looks different and I can't quite pinpoint what the difference is maybe its the make up or the hair(I'm not a huge fan of the hairstyles being sported by the male characters in that drama especially kim woo bin's hair which looks like it has to the ironed with an electric iron to be that flat on top) or the face weight loss he just looks different and I don't think I really like that look tho I still love him

JKS smiles like a girl who's trying to be cute. I was horrified when I came across his nature boy video on youtube. His image works in Japan, they go crazy for him maybe because they envision him as a yaoi character. Well, that's what I see when he is with Kurt. I just don't like it when celebrities deceive their fans. And some of them are easily fooled, in denial, and no room for growth. Come back here in 20 years, when you are somewhat 40 yrs old, and tell me if u still like the image u see on JKS.

I am 43 years old & a fan of Jang Geun Suk, I don't really mind his sense of humour whatever it is. All I know is that when he gets to the screen (whether big or small) he has this charm of pulling you in & gets you hook with his acting, i think the same with all his fans. We love him as an actor, as a singer because he gave all his best for his performance, whoever he is in real life, you don't know that for sure (especially just by watching few music videos, do you even follow his news devotedly?) No one among us here really knows him so who are we to judge & to presume. Anyway eels accept him & support him just the way he is whether now or 20 years from now. He is a human being prone to weaknesses like the rest of us and personally I do excuse him for that he is still young my god only 26 years old & single. What matters most is that I love his work as a multi-talented artist. Another thing since I follow his every news, bts, interviews, fan meetings, concerts just every contents available about him -- I still conclude that he is a good person, a good son to his parents, a generous boss to his staffs, smart bussinessman (proud of representing his country), a loyal, caring friend (to the likes of Kim Heechul, Lee Hongki, Park Shin Hye, Kim Jaejoong etc.) & possesses many more good qualities which his antis tend to ignore. So my earnest request to you is to respect us his fans, you have your own bias right?...devote your time to whoever is your bias, because it is really none of your business if we (eels) choose to be fooled as you term it -- its our life, our time. Jang Geun Suk didn't do you any wrong, the same with US his fans.

OMG if you think he looks girly hear look up his mv for "Indian Summer". He just gets stranger and stranger as the years pass. I used to love him so much and still hold out hope that one day his 'Baby and I', 'You're Beautiful' (in the 2nd half) or even 'Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti' look will make a reappearance. I still try every drama he's in just to see so I'm sure I'll check this one out too.

By the way I'm not saying his acting sucks because I think he's crazy talented in that department. I'm not normally so shallow when passing judgment on actors. The comment above is focused on looks only since so many were commenting on his long hair (which I too dislike) so don't get me wrong, I still love his acting.

@Tysha having weird or strange persona is normal for a singer its not uncommon. Since I grew up in the 80's, i'm used to all this kind of experimentation, revolution, evolution, strange, whatever it is called. Jang Geun Suk as a singer remind me of those days (new romantic look), that explains my fondness of him as a singer.

All this hate over shoulder length, well coifed hair? So he's not fashionable or trendy since the Terius guy went out of style. So what!?! There are still women who like candy men even when other women don't. Plenty of people keep the same hair style all the time, no matter what their roles but it's a problem because this dude wears his long and not short? Talk about sexism and I detected a bit of homophobia too. For me, it's nice to see a man with different hair and it's not crazy, just long. My husband has longer hair and I catch other women swooning over it all the time.
Plastic surgery? Get over it. With that being the norm in the korean entertainment industry, a norm that we as consumers are passively helping to further by being so hypocritically focused on looks, who cares if he did?
Full of himself? Yea. That's kind of par for the course with child actors and entertainers in general.
As for the truly important question: will this drama be good? IMHO, probably not. Haha!
I don't doubt Sukkie's acting ability, just his ability to choose good projects. He's acknowledged on variety shows and such before that, to his rather amusing (at least to me) befuddlement, he's just not as popular at home as he is abroad. Thus, it almost seems like he's just given up on that front, and decided to simply do what he wants/likes when he wants, how he wants. Makes sense to me. Life is too short.
