Park Se-young headlines romantic road movie

It’s been a good year for rising young actress Park Se-young, who’s steadily been racking up some notable roles, from School 2013 to her daily drama Sincerity Moves Heaven. She’ll be taking on her first big screen leading role next, in a romantic road movie that sounds absolutely adorable. It’s called Cat Funeral, which already scores points for a quirky title, and the concept is just as offbeat.

The new movie is an adaptation of a webtoon by the same name, and tells the story of a couple that breaks up and then reunites a year later when the cat they raised together dies. Aw, saddest reason to meet your ex ever. The two will go on a trip for a weekend to have the cat’s funeral, and as they deal with the awkwardness of being together in the present, we’ll watch their relationship unfold in the past.

Park Se-young’s character will be seemingly innocent but beguiling, which I can see in her already. The film is described as a “romantic healing movie,” and will focus on the delicate and complicated feelings between the exes that are brought on by the sudden trip and the rush of past memories. It’s said to explore everything from first love and separation to lingering attachment.

I just have this involuntary empathy for people who love their animals, so I’m already rooting for this couple to make it. Because anyone who goes to bury Fluffy by her favorite tree or scatter Whiskers’ ashes in the ocean is just adorably sincere (even though cats hate water, but you know, whatever works for the poetry and the forced proximity).

Boyfriend and Cat have yet to be cast, and shooting is slated to begin in November for a release next year.

Aww this sounds adorable! *opens to watch list and writes down the title*^^
And to meet again because of the dead cat really is one of the saddest reasons... It still pains me when I think of my cat that had to be euthanised earlier this year :(

On a side note: Cats don't necessarily dislike water > I know a few people whose cats jump into the sink, while they are doing the dishes, to get a nice bubble bath^^

"I just have this involuntary empathy for people who love their animals"

Same same. I am a pet lover myself. But I don't know if I can watch this movie, I'm still too traumatized by that movie "Maeumi" that starred a young Yoo Seungho. Movies about dying animals just gets me T__T

Oh my gosh, I watched that when I was younger than Yoo Seung Ho in the movie T_T

I can barely remember all the details- but I remember feeling extremely sad and trying my best to hold in the tears in front of my mum :(

oh god yes

There's a segment of Inu No Eiga, a Japanese movie, called 'Hey Marimo' that I have to take care never to watch on a public computer because it has never yet failed to lead to full-on ugly crying from me.

Lmfao at "boyfriend and cat are yet to be casted". That's some awesome sense of humor lol.

And this sounds beyond cute. I'm not an animal lover myself but I know many who are. It's definitely a sad reason to reunite with your boyfriend but I think this would be endearing and sincere to the core. Which is exactly what I want for a movie with that kind of synopsis. I hope I like the boyfriend. Not so much the cat - simply because I'd prefer not to be attached to a 'character' that dies in the beginning. Or maybe it could have a twin cat?

I know Lee Jong Seok and Kim Woo Bin are busy bees nowadays with both their movies premiering soon but can we cast one of them as the "boyfriend"? So that those who longed for a romantic angle in School 2013 can have closure.*cough* ME *cough*. Is that too much to ask?

I am completely with you on this one. Although I loved the bromance in School 2013, I have still not come to terms with the lack of romance between Lee Jong Seok and Park Se Young in it.

She was one of my favorite characters in Faith. I loved how she played her role, and her chemistry with the king. ***SPOILER: That scene, in the bedroom, when he went to finally see her, after she had lost the baby, so well acted...***END OF SPOILER

OMG, it's got a cat and it's got Park Se-young? Say no more - I'm in!

After all, people go on trips for all kinds of reasons, like a "just broke up with BF" trip and "need a long weekend away to think about the marriage proposal" trip ... so a trip to make sure puss gets a good send-off sounds as good a reason as any! :)

The premise of this movie actually sounds really interesting. And although I'm not really a park se young fan, I can see her in this kind of role.

Jesus Christ this sounds genius. Simple, but genius if they do it right! I love the premise so much, and I love Park Seyoung too. I hope she'll get a nice boyfriend (and Kitty) soon <3

I like her; and I feel so bad that her daily drama is simply atrocious ~ although, it's still worse for yoo gun who suddenly got demoted to 2nd lead territory. Sincerity moves heaven is a testament of having the misfortune for nice/potentially good actors meeting a really terrible scriptwriter.

I thought she was good in Faith, annoying in Love Rain, and downright forgettable in School 2013. I'll wait to see what she's like as the leading lady in this upcoming film. It sounds cute, so maybe it'll be a big break for her.

Earlier, someone said maybe Lee Jong-suk or Kim Woo-bin as the boyfriend. Really? Maybe it was just the icy role she had in School 2013, but I really didn't see her having any chemistry with either of those actors onscreen.

but why do i think her chemistry with LJS/Go Namsoon quite spark on... even from first ep...
Go Namsoon could warm her icy persona... imo =]
