1N2D loses more members, recasts for Season 3

Speaking of variety shows that have gone on too long, there’s a large-scale shake-up in store for KBS’s once-flagship Sunday variety show 1 Night 2 Days. On the heels of losing its youngest member, Joo-won, the show is also losing its main MC, Lee Su-geun… and potentially (probably) three others.

My first reaction was that this already flagging show is now bleeding members, and that they should really just cancel the thing rather than dying off one member at a time. Even if Su-geun were the only one leaving, he would be a big loss to the show, as he’s really the only one left with that glib MC persona to fill in gaps and smooth along proceedings. Immediately after the initial news broke, there was a flurry of counter-announcements, “it’s not final” clarifications, and “We’re thinking of replacing the whole cast” additions. It’s been quite a day of announcements.

The show reportedly had been considering replacing three of its existing members and bringing in three new faces. While that hasn’t been yet finalized, the names up for departure are mat-hyung Yoo Hae-jin, food-obsessed Sung Shi-kyung, and class clown Kim Jong-min. (That leaves “Dog Feet” Uhm Tae-woong and Bad Luck Magnet Cha Tae-hyun as remaining members.) The producers were aiming to bring in the replacements by the end of November, where they’d do the metaphorical baton pass between the exiting cast and the incoming one and kick off Season 3. However, Su-geun’s decision to leave seems to have been a rather sudden late addition, which may explain why the news was all over the place these past 12 hours.

Furthermore, the turnover extends to the crew as well, with a new PD and CP being brought on to take over for Season 3. (Probably a good thing, as I never warmed to New PD, who managed to tank the show in a remarkably short period of time. He did improve, but he was never a good director for the show, and didn’t get anywhere close to the genius of Na PD or the awkward hilarity of Bird PD.)

Up for the new cast? Guitarist-vocalist Yook Joong-wan of the band Rose Motel, idol star Min-ho of SHINee, and singer John Park. Huh, maybe the new PD is a music fan?

I have a lot of affection for 1N2D, though I was never a die-hard fan of the original and therefore less invested in the outcome of this long-running series. Still, there’s something to be said for a shelf life of a concept, and over six years in, there are only so many ways you can make the same six or seven guys drink bitter tea or play rock-scissors-paper for dinner. If you’re going to basically get rid of your main producers and most of your cast (at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tae-woong and Tae-hyun opted for a clean exit too), why not just reconceive the whole thing instead of trucking out a Season 3 that’ll be little like its predecessors anyway?

The last trip with the current lineup will be shot on November 8, and then… well, we’ll see.

If Minho is a true man, he would decline the offer. like Christian Bale decision to not appear in the superman new movie as to pay respect and not to ruin the iconic batman reputation even when he was offered 50 mil. think about it. he probably doesn't have a say in his company decision, but pleasee...no idol~!

Noooo! 1N2D is the best show, its my favourite...y should it b put to end? Its still funny, n i dont think tht it has lost its touch 1 bit. However, with the rumoured news of new casting, im nt sure if the show is still gonna stay funny as ever...

they might just as well cancel the show~~~ without the members it's worthless~~

I sense another failure of new season shows~~
a very popular example the family outing!! even though they have popular idols in new season when something won't work it's just DON'T work!
the essence of the show is gone~~
bring back kang ho dong ! lee sugeun is a must keep!!!
as well as cha ta hyun - he's the only one making jokes nowadays...

Please, no idol. It's not like I don't like Minho or John, it just, the show will focus on the idols only. Why not bring Hodong back? Barefoot will be cancel. If Cha not leaving, bring Kyungmin too. Can't they bring Na pd back? GOF not that funny. Even the cameo he did was about 1N. They don't have to copy RM by bringing guests every episode. Before there were no guest, 1N still beat RM every week.

When 1N S2 started, I watched it cuz I like Sikyung and Cha. After Seungwoo leave, I tried to watch it but it make me cry cuz it's so different. I don't even watch the eps with Haejin. I have high hopes with the new old-pd to bring back the original 1N.

as a fan who love the show for its concept and not only for the casts I wish 1n2d would continue but it would be nice if they can get Hodong,Jiwon,Mc mong together with sugeun and taewoong and taehyun,the show will be awesome again..

Dream Team is really dangerous. Shinhwa's Junjin once hurt his head and was on the brink of his life when he filmed one of the episodes in the show. For health reasons, I don't suggest athletics variety show.

Im Die Hard Fan of season 1 i miss them so much... i have the collection from season 1 ep 27 to 236 but i lost the episode from 237 until final episode of season 1.
Is anyone here have episode 237 to final episode of season 1 with eng sub i need it, I apreciate if there's someone can help me.....
Never bored watching 1N2D season 1 love to see them together again in the show ^^

I personally think that the latest PD of season 2 didn't do well on the show. Worst editing ever. He even thrown the opening rituals in the closet. I mean come on..somebody need to keep the original stuffs of 1n2d. With the new PD Yoo Ho Jin..he was a rookie PD in season 1. I think there's a hope.

Sorry but IN2D will be my 'variety show' bias forever. It might be hitting rock bottom now, but this show has been introducing South Korea to me since season 1 and I wishes them all the best for season 3. Bonne chance 1N2D!

It's a sad thing that all the members leaving 2d1n. I am a fan though does not really understand what they say but I am still enjoying it every week. I am just too upset that the group is disband.

It's 2017 and season 3 just surpassed 20%+ in rating.
Kim Jongmin won Daesang Award.
Running Man will be cancelled next month.
