Three Days loses broadcast slot (maybe)

Hmmm, there’s some drama up in this drama, and I’m not sure either side is telling the full story. Upcoming condensed-time thriller Three Days, starring Yoochun and Sohn Hyun-joo, was originally looking at a February broadcast as a Wednesday-Thursday drama on SBS. It went on a casting spree and secured a whole lineup of stars, only now SBS is backing up and saying that the show has been postponed.

After a lot of back and forth in the rumor mill, an official statement from SBS’s executive producer of programming announced that Three Days was in fact postponed. The show seems to have stalled in negotiations between production house and broadcaster, though the details about why are murky. My guess is the asking price, but that’s purely speculation. At this point in pre-production (months ahead by k-drama standards), it’s highly unlikely that the reason is that the show is too behind schedule to go on the air.

Some outlets are spinning the story calling Three Days a “free agent,” saying that it’s now free to be shopped at KBS and MBC, which sounds like a hilarious attempt to cover up the fact that you got dumped by saying you’re now free to date allllll the other fishes in the sea. Yeah, well this pond ain’t exactly a large one (and with a huge production budget reportedly at 10 billion won, your options are rather limited by your scale). The latest news is that they’re working out final negotiations with SBS, and whether that means it’ll tie up loose ends to be shopped at other networks or come to some sort of arrangement remains to be seen.

It’s too bad, since I’m still really looking forward to the drama. Though when a production kicks up dust behind the scenes, especially in regards to securing its timeslot, it makes you wonder what’s wrong with it. Three Days is the action thriller from the writer of Ghost and Sign and the PD of Tree With Deep Roots. It stars Yoochun as the elite bodyguard to President Sohn Hyun-joo, and tells the story of his mad dash to find the president when he suddenly disappears. Co-starring are Park Ha-sun, So Yi-hyun, and Yoon Je-moon.

Not a fan of Yoochun but there is no denying that he is a good actor.
Plus, I have been excited for this drama since they talked about the similarity with the American TV show, 24, which is freakin' amazing so yeap', disappointed.

Well, this drama actually suits with SBS (for me).
I think because of money, both seems don't want to lose. Why the budget is so high?
Put on cable tv and maybe it'll be big. There is no guarantee if you put your show on a big network , then it will be big.

I was really interested in this, sounds like it could be a really epic drama! Too bad, now we're back to the waiting stage... D:

Whatever the reasons are, SBS need to make it clear. All these actors are not sitting around waiting for them.

On the other hand, maybe the production is asking too much because with the cast and story line it's seems like a safe buy for any broadcast.

That's too bad. I was really looking forward for the drama. Its about time for Park Yoochun to returns on the small screen. I really hope they can make good decision that benefits both sides. I guess overseas broadcasting rights, DVD royalty & production costs may be the problems. But, well who knows. I just hope they will give final decision whether are they going to air it or not so the actors can move on and not stuck in one project

Such a shame. Why all the sudden? Aren't they supposedly to start shooting on early December? Well both SBS & production company should quickly make their decision! All these actors can't sitting around waiting for them. This is sucks

city conquest 2.0
yoochun is the main lead but the main broadcast like sbs can't secure time slot for him? really weird. they must not believe with his ability to attract viewers.

.... that has nothing to do with it, yoochun's sbs drama was one of the most popular dramas of 2012 why wouldn't they trust him when he always secures at least a 2nd place in ratings

That has nothing to do with it. Rooftop Prince was SBS drama, and it was like one of the most popular SBS dramas in 2012

I think yoochun dama always get average drating not really bad but not really good too, but may be because this drama sounds really serious, thriller plus big budget i guess yoochun name still doubtfull in this genre but if it teenage rom-com it will be easier. This kind of genre is for adult viewer who doesn't really attracted to idol, sorry just my guess ........

Have you actually checked the cast list and the credentials of the team behind the drama? SBS just had a huge turnover in their executives, hence issues with this and other dramas. It has nothing to do with the cast.

There is internal problem in sbs itself, since sbs has changed their whole top executive board recently.
There is disagreement between sbs with production company but they’re still negotiating…
This case has nothing to do with yoochun…
it is not Yoochun’s fault at all

I'm going to go waaaay out on a limb here and say that the premise sounds a little too close to the recent Korean musical "The Days." In that storyline, a bodyguard and staffer go missing from the Blue House, never to return. The same events are repeated 20 years later, only this time around with the daughter of the President and her bodyguard. The musical focuses on the search for both sets of missing people by the same 'elite bodyguard' linked to both disappearances 20 years apart. In "Three Days," the President himself goes missing from his summer home, and the show focuses on an 'elite bodyguard' and his search for said missing official. Coincidence? Hmmm...

I was really looking forward to this Show and hope it's only just a money situation; somehow, all that can be worked out in time for production to begin. But the Conspiracy Theorist in me thinks that someone inside "The Days" camp may have called the "Three Days" PD-nim and alerted him to the similarities in both productions. But I guess we'll see... if this show ever sees the light of day. No pun intended. ;)

Where is Anthony when we need some answers here? Don't tell me the evil Empire producer has succeeded in stealing away the slot from SBS, you know!

I was looking forward to this production too. I am a big fan of the writer team (if the husband is involved here) and the story sounds very intriguing too. I will pray that this gets a resolution and either it re-secures its spot with SBS or finds another broadcasting venue (and cable sounds great too)!

Everytime theres drama behind the scenes of a drama; i cant help but think:what would Anthony do??!
This reminded me of city conquest but I wish it doesnt end like that because I do like yoochuns acting and the story sounds interesting.

SBS should give their final word so these actors can move on. I feel bad for the 3 Days team. Esp the actors, PD, and writer. They got good solid team but suddenly the production is on hold.

how can they appear on running man. they still can't get time slot and possibility three day is cancelled is high. only drama with high rating can appear in running man which i doubt it .with all the mess since the beginning i can see this drama will sink.

@eny agree with you. he still nugu in dramaland. only his hardcore fans think he is popular as actor. i understand why sbs act like that. they must have good reason. why need wasting the money for idol actor. yoochun should stick with romance drama

What's with all the hates? I know he's a new actor, but saying this drama will sink, he's a nugu, judging him bcos he is an idol actor are just too much.

Why spent your times to read article about someone you dislike? Geez!

I guess this "IDOL-ACTOR" lame issue will be forever an issue until YC has a daughter..trololol..I'm glad that I know and being his fan because of SKKS so I have no problem about his acting and his idol label..

But if I know him as a Singer 1st, I think I can separate idol and acting world..Look at Im Suleong, I know him as an idol 1st, even tho I'm not his/2am fan but surprising his acting was better compare to Lee Dong Wook in Mandate of Heaven..

For me critics are good and I'm okay with it as long as it's pro and logic^^

agree with KatherinS...just want to add..he is not idol actor anymore..he likes full time actor. he shows his solid acting skills and always improve his actings in his drama.there is alot of drama/movie critics praising him...so why must have doubt with him...this case has nothing to do with yoochun...

Awww, that's too bad. This is one drama I've been really looking forward to, for next year. I like the cast and It would be really disappointing if one of them pulls out from this production because it will clash with their laid out schedules. Hoping they resolve their conflicts and give us a teaser pretty soon. ;)
