Flirty posters for Sly and Single Again

MBC’s new rom-com Sly and Single Again premieres this week, and here are a couple of saucy posters featuring the drama’s once-married, now-divorced (and destined-for-a-rematch) couple in Lee Min-jung and Joo Sang-wook. Get ready for an onslaught of stills, many of them featuring beautiful people wearing comically bad hair.
Not that I mind the hair, actually, as it goes a long way to mussing up the robotically perfect-looking Joo Sang-wook, who is chiseled and handsome but always kinda looks the same. It’s refreshing to see him rumpled and dorky, even if it’s only in flashback that he gets to play the nerd—it’s only after his character’s divorce from Lee Min-jung (and makeover into a gorgeous gajillionaire) that he becomes a mega-success story, which prompts our heroine to come back to rekindle the romance.
I do hope the show finds a way to work around that rather cold-sounding premise, because when you’re the sad-sack genius whose ex wants you back only because you became rich and famous, well, aren’t we hard-wired to root for him to show her up? In the poster above, his line reads, “You dare make a move on me again?” Hers reads, “You dare become successful behind my back?”
It looks like the couple did have some happy days together in their early relationship, though, so there are real feelings involved despite the surface I-want-my-rich-ex-back motivation. I can’t imagine there not being an explanation for it, so I’ll hope that Sly and Single Again manages to capture the fun, flirty vibe it’s putting out.
Plus if she’s motivated to go after him for the wrong reasons, I know I’ll enjoy looking for where the artifice (of her seduction plan) bumps up against her true feelings. With Emergency Couple giving us the exes-reunited version where the couple falls back in love almost incidentally (without intent or desire to reunite), I’ll be looking forward to watching Sly’s version play things in a slightly different direction.
Due to Miss Korea ending its run this Wednesday (thanks to some Olympics programming that pushed it off-schedule), Sly and Single Aagain will premiere on Thursday with a double-header, broadcasting both Episodes 1 and 2.

LMJ's character sounds like our usual second lead in every other drama no? Maybe that's why I find this sorta intriguing. Kdramas always portray the 'other' female as bitchy and the 'other' male as sweet, caring, selfless, etc.
This is a bit of a reverse, so I'm looking forward to how they'll make us root for what is essentially the bitchy second female lead - if they manage to.

Yes! Thank you for putting it so clearly... somehow it never occurred to me to think of it in typical "stock kdrama character" terms, but you are absolutely right. This kind of thing is exactly what a cold, calculating female second lead would usually pull - dump the poor hero and then try to get him back after he becomes a chaebol. Of course, by that time he has mended his broken heart and grown interested in the genuinely loving heroine...
Except not here? *g* I also find this an interesting variation on a common theme!
I also kind of hope the hero isn't blameles in their break-up, because that really would make it too hard to root for the main couple. If the guy was a jerk, rather than just being successless, that'd make it easier to relate to the heroine. Of course it all depends on the set-up anyway - I really look forward to finding out where they go with this!

Hmm...probably not. But it's airing two episodes so perhaps people will at least catch one of them? And if not, it's still just wonderful for the drama that You From Another Star is ending. Next week, they'll have a much better shot.

It's probably to get a leg up on Three Days which premieres next week. Since sly and single already has two eps out people will either catch one of them after YWCFTS or watch the re runs. So it will be a week ahead or three days. And three days is at least sure to get al least half of YWCFTS's viewers.

No, he is considered second lead. I mean this time, he gets the "main lead" in which the story is focused more on him.
In the other dramas, he gets the second lead most of the time.

I like thorn birds, but it was not a big hit and the ratings were low too. I was disappointed that joo sang wook was second lead actor for majority of his tv series, but I'm so pumped that he's leading man in this one.

Lee Min-Jung was awesome in Smile, You and Wonderful Radio. The only thing I didn't enjoy her in was Big, and I think that can be partially blamed on the writing.

he's name is Seo Kang Joon, he is a rookie,he made his actor debut with an web drama named Afterschool Bokbulbok with Kim So Eun after that he did a cameo in Good Doctor and the role in The Suspicious Housekeeper....he is an '93

he finally gets the leading role now at age 35. kind of late.
lee min jung is pretty but her acting is okay, not that good. why does she still get the leading role?

The word finally can mean "after a long time". It does not quite imply that he never got the leading role. At first, I was kinda confused but after thinking, I get what the person meant. I think maybe the person knew but people took it the wrong way cuz of the wording. no big deal.

what's the big deal about being the 1st or 2nd leading role? the most important thing is the actor can represent the character lively.. the real big deal is that acting is about art.

Unfortunately, society makes a huge deal cuz it makes a big difference. for example, bae soo bin and kim beom always get second lead. people say even though KB is popular, he's not "one of the most popular" cuz he's not same level as lee Min ho, who always get leading role and has better acting skills. I've noticed for public perception, many people think second lead/supporting actors have limited "not so good" acting skills.

and unfortunately,public perception sometimes doesn't portray the deeper meaning of things they judge..let say that their perceptions are mostly based on the surface.. well, I know that society don't have that much time to see deeper thing one by one..

I hope this changes my image for both of them. Lee Min Jung always felt like she lacked a backbone and Joo Sang Wook, in my mind, has always played cold perfect CEO/senior manager/doctor.
She looks sassy here and it looks like he might have a bumbling squishy side this time.

Hmm, from the stills it looks like she's working a ton of jobs to support him. I'd speculate that they were happy together working toward a goal and then he maybe gave their money away or lost it in a bad investment in a spectacular way and she divorced him in the heat of the moment. Sort of the opposite of the saying, "Marry in haste, repent at leisure."

I really hope it's something like that. It's really important to me that the drama shows that both were equally at fault for their marriage ending. Like perhaps she gave up pursuing her dream to work odd jobs so that he could go after his and then he fails or something. That would give her reason to blame him (albeit childishly) for her lack of success now, while he went on to become a big shot. And I'd perhaps like to see him taunt her with his newfound success (again childishly) thus causing her to go after him partially because of his behavior as well. We're clearly going to have a heroine with some growing up to do so I'd like it if he was flawed as well. One of my hugest problems with Emergency Couple is that I was much more annoyed at one than the other.

I really hope they go for the vibe of that show, with the petty revenge and makeover tropes but underscored with a whole lot of heart (...and skin ship). I MEAN THEY WERE ALREADY MARRIED...

So pretty so much pretty oh my pretty overload. Hehehe. I actually am curious how they are going to make this LMJ character not the typical gold digger that people love to hate, because there's no way they will make a hateable female lead, right? I'm expecting that during their earlier days, she's the one who's making a lot of sacrifices for him but he was never able to rise above and make things better for the both of them. No luck maybe. Perhaps things just got so bad they simply became each others' anchor and they just couldnt surface. So she cut him lose to survive, which, if done right, I'll probably have no problem with that coz it seems only fair. Sometimes good timing and the best of luck are what two people need to get into a happy and non-destructive relationship.

because its JSW, i'm in!! hopefully this drama will turn good. but three days trailer seems promising.
my verdict: three days and cunning single lady will be big rival for thurs-wed drama. i lose hope in AoF since the writer-switching thing.

is it only me or anyone else finding Lee Min-jung getting more prettier day by day. She looks flawlessly sassy. absolutely love her looks ... Wish she gives us a mindblowing performance. I liked her role in all about my romance drama and smile you, she has lots of potential hope this drama explores it. Eagerly waiting for Emergency couple drama 2 :)

Honestly, this looks like so much fun. It could be zany and also touching and I think both leads are can be good at that. It'll be nice to see Joo Sang Wook not all serious! He has such a great smile, lol.
I also really like the actress in the second-lead role, too! O:

The storyline sounds typical but I am interested to see how they will spin this hopefully, into sometime a little special! On a side note I am amaze at how everyone looks so sparkly pretty!!

it's a very interesting idea..I hope they can make it work..and not be cringe-worthy...what I want most from this drama is for joo sangwook to remain with a dorky personality at least if not the looks...oh please be dorky <3
