Moon Chae-won has not done a lot of rom-coms in her career, instead finding success with more dramatic projects, many of which I really enjoyed like the thrilling romance sageuk The Princess’s Man, the heart-pounding action sageuk Bow: The Ultimate Weapon, and romance melodrama Nice Guy. Be that as it may, I’m really happy to hear that for her next role, she’s eyeing a rom-com. She’s already proven she can hold her own acting in dramatic roles, so it’ll be nice to see her get to do something lighter and funnier for a change.
The project is a movie called Three Men’s Woman (er, Woman with Three Men? Or Three Men and Her? There’s Something About Moon Chae-won?), and the story centers around three friends who all fall for the same woman… which I suppose is the cornerstone of many an angsty drama plot with lots of longing and unrequited love to go around. But this film promises to be comedic and fun, so I expect we’ll be getting the less melodramatic version. One hopes.
The movie comes from director Park Jin-pyo, whose previous movies include 2013’s thriller Accomplice, 2005’s romance You’re My Sunshine, and 2009’s human drama Closer to Heaven. It is currently in screenplay revisions, and Moon’s reps have stated that she’ll make her final decision afterward. The production will be casting soon and aims to begin filming in the latter half of the year.
