Cable network OCN courts Park Hae-jin for new drama
I love that Park Hae-jin is getting so much love lately after playing the pining second lead in You From Another Star. It goes a long way to be something so rare in dramaland–a second lead who’s never hateful. The actor is being courted to headline a new drama for cable channel OCN, which has been steadily building an identity with original programming all cut from one cloth: crime procedurals featuring strong male leads.
The new drama will be called Bad Boys, and so far all we’re told about it is that it’ll be a story about rugged, rough-and-tumble men. Well that’s vague. Don’t we even get an occupation or premise? Is he animal, vegetable, or mineral? Vampire? Ghost-seer? Run-of-the-mill bad boy cop? I know, you’re probably thinking what I’m thinking: Darn it all, I’m probably already going to tune in for Bad Boy Park Hae-jin anyway. *shakes fist*
The show is still in the early planning stages, and there are mixed reports about when the drama is being planned for broadcast. Some sources say as early as May following current drama Ghost-Seeing Detective Cheo-yong, while others say it’s more likely that it’ll be a September show. OCN has plans to air Season 4 of God’s Quiz (the forensic medical procedural starring Ryu Deok-hwan), and also Ten Days Ago starring Chun Jung-myung this year, so we’ll have to wait and see what order they plan to air them in.
Park Hae-jin is considering for now, and he’s due in SBS’s next Monday-Tuesday drama Doctor Stranger in April.
