Kim Kang-woo courted for Golden Cross

Will this drama ever find its hero? I’m actually more intrigued by the behind-the-scenes drama of KBS’s newest revenge melo Golden Cross than in the drama itself, but one thing’s for sure: if Kim Kang-woo (Tabloid) signs on, I will suddenly find myself verrry interested. The new Wednesday-Thursday drama for KBS’s spring slate has cycled through names like Kang Ji-hwan and Park Shi-hoo to play its leading man, and is now reportedly wooing Kim Kang-woo to play its revenge-seeking hero.

Both Lee Shi-young (Killer Toon) and Eom Ki-joon (The Virus) are still considering the drama as well (The production has now clarified that Eom Ki-joon is up for the role of a Korean-American businessman, which would make him the second lead.) and the only secured roles are Han Eun-jung (Gumiho: Tale of the Fox’s Child) playing a mystery woman and Jung Bo-seok (Goddess of Fire Jung-yi) as the villain.

The new revenge melodrama from the writer of Gaksital and the PD of Be Strong Mr. Kim is about a man who becomes a prosecutor so that he can go after his sister’s killer. The villain also happens to be the heroine’s father, which adds yet another tragic twist. She’s also a prosecutor, but naturally has no idea that her father is hiding such a frightening secret.

Kim Kang-woo is considering favorably for now. I’m excited at the prospect of a strong drama role for him because I don’t want him to stick to movies all the time, and frankly his last drama (the silly rom-com Haeundae Lovers) was just a blatant waste of his talent. I mean, he was funny in it, but the show was cornfed at best. Kim Kang-woo can sizzle, so let’s let him sizzle, shall we?

Golden Cross follows Age of Feeling and premieres in April.

i know he's only considering, but Eom Ki-joon second lead again?! sigh, when will he star in the lead? (cuz i'm going to pretend VIRUS never happened).

regardless, Kim Kang-woo would be a great candidate. loved him in Story of a Man.

Oooo.... Nice.

I wonder if Kim Kang Woo decline it, will KBS go after Uhmforce.. Ji Sung.. Lee Jong Hyuk.. Jang Hyuk.. to name a few of KBS regular heavyweight actors in their 30s.. They seems to cast senior experienced actor for their drama lately.

You took the words out of my mouth...because I really thought this was his chance!! :( Oh well poor Poopy Seok, guess your turn will come soon...

Kim Kang-woo was fantastic as a villain in Story of a Man, so I think he more than qualifies as a candidate for lead in a revenge melo (his face just emotes fierceness and revenge!).

Hopefully he'll accept, because then this'll be his rebound drama--so that I can forget what a crappy hot-mess Haeundae Lovers was!

Out of Kang Ji Hwan, Park Shi Hoo and now Kim Kang Woo, I think he's the best choice. I hope he and Eom Ki Joon both sign on! That would be awesome but unfortunately Eom Ki Joon is a second lead again.

I love this guy, so I hope he accepts and signs on! Oppa, please!

Other than that, the drama sounds interesting. There's been a lot of revenge dramas lately and I've found myself liking them more and more. Even Secret has turned out to be better than I thought. I actually like Min-hyuk now! I'm on episode 14 and can't wait to finish it!

I didn't realize how similar the story sounds to Prosecutor Princess. Even with the PSH association, I just thought of revenge. But now, if you just replace the sister to father, it's like a remake of said drama. Which doesn't say much since all dramas are the same nowadays but I only caught this now.

Haven't seen KKW in anything. In fact, I actually don't know him tbh. I just heard of him rarely here and there so if he does pick it up, it'll be the first time I'm gonna see him... If the drama is any good.

Damn, I thought Eom Ki Joon would be a GREAT lead. But, I like Kim Kang Woo, too. And Lee Si Young hasn't signed on yet??? So no leads?

I know it's March right now, but this is still kinda cutting it close isn't it?

Yup, just shuffle the deck and lay the cards out. Father-daughter-hero-prosecutor-birth secret-chaebol money-mother-revenge-brother-adopted-squick-romance-secret love-uncle-American education-jealousy-lost love-restaurant-doctor-lost twin-evil aunt-good grampa-lawyer-fashionista-president of korea-false imprisonment-angry ghost-fatal disease-pop idol brother/sister-tough cop--girl disgused as boy--high school bully-first love.

Okay, if it looks too LITTLE like five shows from last year, re-shuffle the deck and deal again. If it looks vaguely original, it won't sell to the networks.

As I was reading the descriptions, it reminded me of Prosecutor Princess and quite a few other dramas as well. It is always the same bag of tricks or in this case the same deck of cards.

There are some actors I will watch in anything because no matter how bad it is they will still be awesome! Kim Kang Woo is one of those. I think he is really underrated. He can ACT! I mean he is so good he puts most Hollywood actors to shame. If he is in this I will watch. End of discussion!

amen to that statement so let him do what he shines at! i liked his last one ok too maybe just cause he was in it! it was ok for light and don't think too much about the plot, just enjoy the good parts. but man, lets get him into another drama cause it is so hard to watch movies with subs and face it, 2 hours or 20 hours of kim kang woo-i choose the more the better!

Yes! For Kim Kang-Woo. I loved HL because of KKW. Didn't mind the silliness or, rather, I didn't dwell on it too much.
