Giveaway winners: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
by javabeans
Thanks to everyone who entered our giveaway for Jenny Han’s YA novel To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! It was great to see so much interested in the novel about a Korean-American teenager and her romantic foibles, with a cute use of the contract dating trope. We’ve picked winners and sent out emails, so be on the lookout if you’re Indek, divyrus, or matay.
Thanks to Jenny for sending us the book to read (which we thoroughly enjoyed) and for offering up copies to give away to Dramabeans readers. We hope you like it!
And if you’re interested in buying the book, here’s the Amazon link.

Congrats to the winners.
Speaking of Korean books....are there any Korean fiction that are available in English that like this book in which, as Javabeans writes, "Koreanness is a clear presence without the novel being all about... being Korean"? Too often I find books that follow the path of latter and I don't really want that.

There is a fairy-tale style book (shorter than most books... maybe a novella?) called The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly, by Hwang Sun-Mi, available in translation in the US. I read the first few pages at a train station bookstore-- they were very good!

Congratz for the winners! Glad multiple beanies won, there were a lot of contract-drama lovers. Never knew there were that many dramas with contracts.

Congrats to the winners!
I actually work at the library and in charge of the Teen Services stuff at my branch, so when the book came in the day before you mentioned it; I immediately checked it out & been reading it! :)
So I didn't enter cause I have wayyyy too much books. So for the others that didn't win & want to read the book, you should all definitely go to your public library and check it out from there.

Cute stories like this is why I read non-slash fanfiction. This book should be made into a drama.
Congrats to the winners!

Congrats to the winners!
This is actually on my watch-out book list so I'm bound to buy it anyway which I did yesterday. The whole time I was reading the book I keep wishing it would be made into a Korean drama. and I did what JB did and imagined favorite K-actors portraying the roles of certain characters. FUN!
One thing that raised my hackles though was the cliffhanger. AHH! Of course there will be cliffhanger just like KDramas!

Thank you so so much for your support and your interest in my book TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE. As a young adult author, diversity in teen literature is a priority of mine, and my hope is that Asian American teens see this book on the shelves and see a bit of themselves reflected back-- and I also hope that non Asian American readers read the story and feel connected to it as well. Because at its heart, the story is about a girl growing up and falling in love and I think those themes are pretty universal.
Huge huge thanks to Javabeans and Girlfriday for hosting this giveaway. As a longtime dramabeans addict, I'm thrilled to pieces to have TO ALL THE BOYS on the site.
PS. I can't believe I forgot Dal Ja's Spring-- Lee Min Ki is aces with me! I even sat through all one million plus episodes of Be Strong Geum Soon for him!

Jenny, thanks for writing such an good depiction of normal teenage life. As an ESL teacher, I appreciate your addition to culturally diverse literature. As a UVA grad and 20 year resident of Charlottesville, your setting was an unexpected gift! I'm going to check out your other books & am looking forward to your future writings.
