Yoon Jin-yi joins melodrama It’s Okay, It’s Love

Yoon Jin-yi (Mandate of Heaven, A Gentleman’s Dignity) is the latest cast addition to Noh Hee-kyung’s new melo It’s Okay, It’s Love, due out this summer on SBS. So far I like how this cast is shaping up, despite being iffy on the premise. Yoon Jin-yi is confirmed for the role of Jo In-sung’s fangirl girlfriend, which makes her a rival for Gong Hyo-jin.

It cracks me up that the descriptions for this show call it a “romantic mental clinic drama,” which just sounds so wrong. Gong Hyo-jin stars as a psychiatrist and Jo In-sung plays a mystery novelist who suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder. The show is about two people healing each other’s deep-seated wounds and falling in love in the process. I suppose you could call most dramas that in general, though here they actually mean treating psychological disorders.

Yoon Jin-yi plays a magazine journalist who goes after an interview with Jo In-sung because she’s a fan of his work. The interview leads to a relationship and she ends up his girlfriend. She plays a very important role in the story’s setup, though we’re not told any specifics about the how and why.

The rest of the cast includes Lee Kwang-soo (Nice Guy) who plays a patient with Tourette syndrome, and Sung Dong-il (Answer Me 1994) who is Gong Hyo-jin’s sunbae psychiatrist and first love. Idol D.O plays another of Jo In-sung’s fans, a high-schooler who aspires to be like him one day.

It’s Okay, It’s Love follows You’re All Surrounded in July.

I dunno, girlfriday, but this premise sounds like fun to me, heh. Maybe it's because of the cast.

Yeah I'm actually pretty excited for this one...I've never watched a drama with Jo In-Sung before and I'm already expecting this to be quite the first role to watch him in.

If it wasn't for the cast though, I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole (but I said that about Two Weeks too, and well, look at oppa in that)

I am more invested due to the premise though :)

"..treating psychological disorders.."

I guess that is as opposed to most melo's where the main cast all have UNTREATED disorders.. :)

Lee Kwang-soo <3, not the best actor in S.Korea but he makes me laugh. This is a lot better than the train wreck called Goddess of Fire.

He's better than most of the leads actors in korea & this role is very difficult, i hope he wins awards for this.

Tourette syndrome is not for laughs, im sure his character will be so lovely and charming.

I didn't say it was for laughs, I know what it is. I was comparing his role in this drama and his last project which was an epic fail.

Nothing says drama fun more than crazy people in an assylum falling crazy in love.

Lee Kwang-soo, Gong Hyo-jin, and Sung Dong-il made me imagine this is a romcom, or even full comedy genre instead of melo. lol

I really, really wish this wasn't running up against Joseon Gunman, now that Lee Jun-ki has confirmed (with Park Shin-hye apparently considering the female lead role? I could get behind this, if the chemistry works). I'm more interested in that premise and I don't want my prince and my queen to have clashing dramas again, after Master's Sun/Two Weeks.

PSH and LJK?? if that happens it's a terrible couple.. but maybe i'm just not a huge fan of either and PSH usually picks the worst dramas..

After last year's Good Doctor drama I don't think I can trust Kdrama regarding this type of story. Kdrama doesn't seem to know how to handle a story about someone with mental disorder. Jdrama and Hollywood to some extent are more adept to this kind of premise (flawed but not obnoxious).
Lastly, the doctor-patient romance is a bit iffy.
Love Gong Hyo Jin and I like the writer. I'm torn whether or not to watch the drama.

Same here, Gong Hyo-jin, the writer and the potential of lead couple chemistry are the only things stirring my interest here.

If I'm not wrong this is not exactly a doctor-patient romance, I read they meet when he interviews her for his radio program or something like that.

I also think it is not a patient-doctor romance. I read somewhere that they meet as invited guest speakers on a television program. They have a fight and sparks fly. Something like that.

UGH I feel confused. This actress was the most annoying character in A Gentleman's Dignity. And here, the character description says: Meahri once again. But she looks much different - I guess it may be the unflattering make-up.

My interest has just melted a tiny little bit...

Yeah, when I first saw her in GD, I wondered why I hadn't seen this adorable actress before. But later I was all, "Get this whiny crybaby out of here!". I liked her a lot better in MoH, but she got whiny in that, too, so my tolerance for seeing her acting super immature is rather low. But she can be really cute and winning, and I take comfort in knowing that no matter how adorable she is in this, she's no match for Gong Hyo Jin.

You had me at Lee Kwang Soo plays a guy with Tourette's - how funny is that going to be?! I can totally see it now.

Not trying to be rude, but how is that even remotely funny?! Shouldn't you take him seriously or anyone seriously as a matter of fact; even if they have Tourette's?
Like are you making fun of Kwang Soo or of him acting as someone who has Tourette's?

I don't see anything wrong about her comment. Tourettes is a serious illness. It should not be simply referred to as ' funny' at all, regardless of how funny or bad the actor is.

It's almost a medical drama, except it's kinda not? I love GHJ which means I'll go through crap for her, but I'd rather this not be crap lol.

Tbh, I've never been impressed with the writer's work - no matter how well-respected she is. And this drama's premise is kinda... It's just not 'right' to show a love story out of a patient-doctor relationship. I wish they went more in route of Love 911 - where the main characters healed each other but while one of them is a doctor, the other wasn't her patient. But I guess the psychiatrist aspect don't kick in. I'm going through this no matter what, I just hope it's good!

Ah, I had to look up the cast list for Mandate of Heaven to recognize her! She played Peter Pan!

She was a lot of fun to watch in MofH. Hopefully she can bring the same energy to this role.

The premise sounded kind of fun until I googled about the disorders. I hope they won't go all rom-com on those cases , because then it would be just plain sad. A pool of melodramatic tears doesn't seem to work here either... I hope they find a good balance, because mental issues... it's a serious theme.
