Lee Seung-gi and Moon Chae-won up for rom-com reunion

Aw, I really adore this pairing and I hope they sign on to make a comeback. Lee Seung-gi (You’re All Surrounded) is currently in talks to star in his first movie, which just so happens to be the romantic comedy that’s had Moon Chae-won (Good Doctor) attached since earlier this year. They were co-stars in 2009’s Brilliant Legacy, where Moon Chae-won poured her heart out for her one-sided Seung-gi love. This time, the tables will be turned (muahaha) and he’ll be one of three guys who are all vying for her heart.

The movie, called Three Men’s Woman, is about a group of friends who all fall for the same girl. That sounds like a disaster but thankfully the movie promises to be a comedy, which I hope means we can come out of this with bromances intact. Moon Chae-won plays a quirky character, described as a unique individual with devilish charm who wins the affection of three men at once. She’s a star weather caster and she meets each of them separately by chance, setting three friends’ hearts aflutter for the same girl without knowing it.

At the helm is director Park Jin-pyo (Accomplice, You’re My Sunshine, Closer to Heaven), and producing is Popcorn Film (No Breathing, Kkang-chulie, Hwanghae/The Yellow Sea). Most sources say that Moon Chae-won has confirmed the role, while Lee Seung-gi is just considering. Meanwhile he’s knee-deep in shoots for his current drama amidst injuries no less, so I don’t know if the timeline for this project is realistic, but I want them to do it. I mean, if there was ever a year to get on the reunion bandwagon, this is it.

Once it finalizes casting, Three Men’s Woman starts shooting in July.

they had killer crazy chemistry in bl eventhough both of them were kids playing grownups.MCW acted her heart out in bl and the couple looked hot and adorable at the same time.

i can't believe this reunion is really happening.

hope lsg will be well enough to do a movie after a drama which is so live that they shoot today the tomorrow episode. SMH.

This is great! Her ending in BL was bittersweet when they had their last bus ride together. She made me feel sorry for her character, despite being evil for most of the season.

It's awesome both of their careers took off after BL.

I loved Seung-mi and Hwan before she got the plot induced crazy thing. They had wonderful chemistry even back then. They would be amazing together now since they are all grown up. :D

It's going to be cutting it close, especially with YAAS delays, but I hope he does it. It seems pretty likely.

ikr!!! about time he debuted in the big screen.

but considering from 2007 he was a permenant host of hit variety show's like 1n2d and mc on strong heart amids drama's and musical activities may not have given him time to do a movie.

Oh I heard of this a while back and thought Seung-gi passed on it since we never heard from the movie again. But I guess not?

I loved Seung-mi and Hwan in SI! I shipped them even when she went bat-shit crazy on us in it's second half. Although a lot of that has to do with HHJ's candy character than annoyed the crap outta me.

Anyway, I ought to be excited? But I don't think I am. The plot seem so generic and convenient. I would rather he does something more serious for his debut. But if he signs on, of course I'll be waiting for it.

Oh, this sounds cute! I always liked their scenes together in Brilliant Legacy.

The plot sounds a lot like the Monica Potter/Joseph Fiennes movie, The Very Thought of You (aka Martha, Meet Daniel, Frank and Laurence). A quirky girl meets 3 friends separately and captures each of their hearts. It was a nice, light rom-com, and I hope this one will be available with English subtitles eventually so I can compare the two!

You and I are on the same page..No, I'm a bit disappointed with this pairing. But it has nothing to do with MCW. I like LSG for his variety persona but as an actor definitely not. The actor seems to play it safe when it comes to choosing his roles.
I was hoping for a veteran lead actor. Someone who has a track record in Chungmuro. He doesn't necessarily be a superstar actor. She act with Park Hae Il Park Ki Woong and Ryu Seung Ryu in her last film, War of Arrows. So to find out that she'll act with LSG is a bit disheartening.
I'm still hoping, though, that the film will be a success just for the sake of them.

I don't really know anything about it, but I've heard often that there is a divide between big screen and small screen (TV) and that not all actors of small screen make a successful move to the big screen.

I am guessing that one way to find out is by doing it. So, it seems LSG will find out soon enough if he has the right stuff. For him, rom com should be the safest vehicle for the experiment.

Most of male and female lead roles in drama are safe role anyway. That's why even MCW said she want more diversity for female lead. Only a few selective theme drama got unique/unsafe lead roles. Even the strong female characters are becoming safe role. That's why I hope she'll got a good different and prominent character in this movie.

And judging from past co-star is not right. These days there're so many rookie and senior/veteran actor act together, so it's not that special anymore. Looking from the title looks like it'll focused on her character more and this is rom-com, this is a good chance for LSG to learn more about movie industry.

I thought she was really good in SI although I gotta admit HHJ did steal a lot of her thunder and viewer's love. I preferred her character mainly because Eun-sung really got on my nerves but in terms of chemistry, I do agree Seung-gi had it in spades with HHJ. I need that reunion ASAP, as someone did mention here.

I'm hoping he doesn't pick this not because of her but his character. I just don't want him to be debuting as one of the 3 male leads with a rather inexperienced actress; in movies at least. If he is to do a movie where he isn't the focal point, I'd like it to be with veterans who he'll learn and improve from. I'll be watching this for puppy, but I'd be happy if he doesn't pick it.

"I gotta admit HHJ did steal a lot of her thunder and viewer’s love".. Of course HHJ was the lead so it just natural but well MCW won the best Actress in Asia in 2009 with most votes beating HHJ and other actresses..Of course HHJ being the lead will really received more love than MCW but tbh some of those love from viewers did steal by MCW from HHJ..

Yep, stealing thunder means someone got more praise and love than the other overall (i.e. most of the awards, etc.) Which in the bigger picture HHJ did more than MCW; exactly what I said earlier. That doesn't mean some viewers didn't like her; I myself found her great, so...

Required fields are marked *

Perhaps you and I have a different understanding of this colloquial term. Normally, "stealing the thunder" implies that someone is should not have been expected or rightfully gotten people's attention/respect - got that attention/respect. As the female lead with the good girl character, HHJ should have gotten the attention. Yet, MCW's portrayal received much more sympathy and empathy despite having "evil" attached to her character. In this scenario I think the colloquial expression "stealing the thunder" is more appropriate for MCW.

Of course, I'm not here to teach you about the English language of colloquialism. Just wanted to point out that perhaps your comment meet have given rise to some misunderstanding by others.

Actually I am not being defensive here..As a fan of MCW I accept criticism to her openly( though I am not saying that you criticizing her or what) but my point here is, the way you said that you don't want LSG to work with MCW in his movie debut b'coz she is inexperienced in movie field is somewhat insulting not only to MCW but to LSG too and other actors and actresses who are also inexperienced in movie field..If you think other way around is not it "we don't want MCW to work with LSG b'coz he don't have any experienced in movie field"..What if in the future someone who is also going to have a movie debut and their fans or people were like "we don't want her to work with LSG b'coz he is inexperienced actor"..I get your point that you want him to work with veteran actors but I think it's quite unfair to say that you don't want him to work with MCW just simply b'coz she is inexperienced. As a fan of both MCW and LSG I find it very insulting..I am very sorry also if I sound defensive but I tell you I am not..Again sorry..Peace..BTW I respect your opinion..

0

You just hit the nail here. lol. If people think that they don't want the inexperience actress in movie field to act along their sweetie, than the other camp of fandom can also say the exact same thing to the actor who has even more less experience in acting (and zero in movie industry). Same goes to the acting and chemistry bull talk :)

0

@Zeno - Okay this is my last comment because this argument is going absolutely no where.

Insulting? Lmao, calling an inexperienced actress inexperienced is insulting to someone? Well then I can't really do anything about that since it is what it is. What if someone says that about Seung-gi? Well I'll just shrug and say true. End of story. Seung-gi himself is more inexperienced since this is his debut and if someone says they don't want MCW opposite him because he is debuting, I wouldn't be 'insulted' by it whatsoever. It's the truth.

As a fan, I want him to work with someone who has more credits in their resume and who he can learn from as a senior, same for MCW fans. There's nothing bad about that and it makes every sense in the world because they're both young and need to enhance their craft.

Anyway, the end point is that I like MCW and her chemistry with Seung-gi is awesome. I want them to work together again, but this project isn't it. If he picks it up, I'll be watching it for him, but expressing that I prefer a sunbae instead isn't insulting anyone else. At all.

0

No,it is not insulting to call MCW as inexperienced actress b'coz it's a fact but what I find insulting is that "you don't want LSG to work with her in his movie debut simply b'coz she is inexperienced"..Actually when I read your comment I was like "then what will happen to those inexperienced actors and actresses?"..My sympathy did not just go with MCW alone but as a whole..I understand you and sorry again if I felt insulted but I'm not hating you or angry at you..

I, ALSO, HAVE NO IDEA HOW YOU DISLIKE HER AND CALL HER ROBOTIC. Is it your standard that's on its highest level? or my standard that's on its lowest? If that's the case, then the entertainment people and critics, who have applauded her past performances (Well, with AWARDS) and highly anticipate her future projects, are with me. We're together with our standards as lowest as it could be.

But it's your opinion, and THIS IS MINE. :D :P

As an ardent fan of hers for 3 years....I do admit that she has some shortcomings in her acting. I dont like the way she paused while delivering her lines which sometimes i do find it inappropriately done. Robotic....depends. But not quite so (if you really compare to few other actresses whom are even more robotic) since she has won so many best couples award and even best actress awards. I dont think the awards will be justified if the comment you have there is true.

She's been at her strongest in dramatic projects, both modern and historical. It might just be that rom-com is not her greatest strength (haven't seen Good Doctor either), but I thought she did a decent enough job in BL of playing a character who slid over to the dark side and then back.

But yeah, girlfriend is definitely not one-note or lacking in chemistry with costars. Nice Guy, The Princess' Man and War of the Arrows all stand as evidence to the contrary, and she can definitely hold her own with some powerhouse costars based on what I've seen.

Your opinion about Moon Chae Won is exactly how I feel about Lee Seung Gi. A mediocre, one- dimensional actor like him should stick to rom com light-hearted dramas where his limited skills won't be exposed too much.

Required fields are marked *

Yea, and my feelings are exactly the opposite of yours. I think MCW isn't great for rom-coms because she isn't charming and neither does she have great screen presence. I don't think she seems fit for sagueks either since her diction is oh-so-off and she always seems like she's trying to remember her dialogues before reciting them. But maybe she should stick to movies so her limited skills won't be exposed unlike in a much longer drama.

But you know what.... She's most likely doing this with Seung Gi. And even if I really don't like her, I'll most definitely watch for him. Just like you don't like him, but would most likely watch for her. So really, it boils down to that anyway. No one wins or everyone wins depending on how you look at it. .

That's funny. Acting in movie is a lot more challenging than dramas although the duration is shorter. So just based on your comment, it seems like you don't really have the in depth understanding on this area. Acting is all subjective but I don't think it is good for you to judge on whether MCW is good in rom com as she never really had one project for this genre. And you don't have to go all upset and throwing back the insult because someone said the opposite because it started from your camp at first and if we don't stop, we will all go bashing each other nonstop.

Required fields are marked *

That's funny. Calling someone a mediocre actress - which is basically what I called her - is apparently an insult to you. But I'm not petty enough to start the 'you guys started it' game here.

As for judging her, I can very well do so because I said she isn't charming nor has screen presence, not that she isn't a good actress in rom-coms. For me, those are extremely important qualities to have - she lacks them. And LOL at "my camp". I wasn't here until a few hours ago so anyone else's comments is not up for me to comment on. I felt like voicing out the fact that I find her mediocre just like you may find Seung Gi mediocre. It's not about who started it because whoever did, I'd still have written what I wrote.

I haven't seen a single "bashing" comment yet; such an overused word for wrong purposes. But the back and forth won't stop for sure if we basically don't agree to disagree.

0

Yes, it is true. Acting in a film is more challenging and demanding. It is where creative differences lies. It is where 'clash of egos' is not a new of concept. Film industry is where someone will find a tough, no-nonsense and strict directors that you don't always find in drama industry.

0

Not to mention the fact that actors have a shorter breadth of time to express emotion and psyche of the character they are portraying. This shorter time frame means that it make much more skill, intensity, and creativity to capture audiences' attention.

People can watch dramas for weeks and grow to love the characters, but films? It's much more difficult to become obsessive about certain pairings or characters in 2 hours.

0

Not a fan of both actors. If that is your opinion regarding MCW's acting, what does that make now of LSG as an actor. I've seen all their works and she is much better in acting. If she should stick then to movies then LSG should quit then acting. Except for his star power, he does not have the acting chops. When acting alongside senior actors his limited acting range expose. Just look at YAS and a much better example is TK2H. If only Lee Je Hoon did not turn down the role. He could have been a better fit as a king and he has that presence and acting range to act with senior actors.

"If that is your opinion regarding MCW's acting, what does that make now of LSG as an actor" - Errrrm, my opinion doesn't make any thing of any one. I'd be pretty damn pleased if I had that power, 'cept I don't.

Seung Gi is not a worse actor because you believe so, and neither is he a better actor because I say so. If you feel he's all star power, he sucks, he's overrated, or some xyz could've done a role better than him, then that's your opinion for which you are entitled. Good on ya.

But me looking at YAS or K2H makes me believe he's a really emotive and has potentials to be a great actor. My opinion - that's completely valid. Just like it is completely valid for me to see MCW as just mediocre.

0

Are you seriously criticizing him in TK2H? lol forever. He was Lee Jae Ha and made all the crying he was cast Dramabeans fans eat their words after the drama ended. He got universal praise for that role.

0

Are you serious?!? I usually just shrug when someone else's opinion doesn't line with mine, but Seung-gi needed range and acting chops because he had none in K2H? K2H? Seriously??

No comments....

0

LOL! Lee Seunggi should quit acting and you judge that after you saw The King 2 Hearts? And you think anyone else could've done that role better because apparently Seunggi has limited acting range. Guess there's a first to everything lmao.

0

@tiff
The mediocre actress your speaking received a huge amount of hatred for playing 'bitchy' Seung-mi in BL. For a performance in BL to generate such hatred and to the point that she was viciously attacked on personal level speaks volume of how she convincingly portrayed her. That is a proof of great screen presence and brilliant acting.
The mediocre actress your speaking of was heavily criticized on the first few episodes of The Princess' Man. For that same actress to turn the table and received such high-praised after TPM. And for that same actress to admit that flaws afterwards is an evidence of that actress' modesty and high IQ in acting.
The actress that you evaluated as mediocre is someone that I can call 'a good actor who has the tendency to be great' if only the Korean entertainment industry doesn't succumb much to male-centric works, star power and imagery.

0

@shadow21 -

Mm-hm, really? But you see, despite everything you've said, a very mediocre actress is exactly and precisely what she is to me. My opinion, for the nth time. Just like all those comments right above yours and the K2H audience in general is 'proof' of Seung Gi being a great actor. And that despite that, you don't think so. Your opinion.

Opinions, try to respect them and agree to disagree. Its just as simple as that.

0

ROFL. Hello, people. May I know how old are you? you guys throwing insults on eqch other biases for what purpose, may I ask? what can you gain from that? please, stop it. You respect your bias' choice of work and be decent enough to positively supporting the project which includes ALL things related to that. I think that's what a good fans should do. Despite your unhappiness of him/her might work with someone you don't like, won't matter a bit in the actual work and you bring nothing other than harm. I belive we are all mature people here. Everyone has the right to voice their opinions, but try to behave maturely. Again, aguing over each other opinions on she/he is bad IMO will brings you nothing. You drag down yourself and your biases along the line because what you fans behaves do reflects on your own biases. Let me just remind you all the old saying, if you want others to respect yourselves. Same goes with others calling your bias as bad actor and you yook offense and you attack back and it will goes round. We all might not be happy with the casting but we can all 'try' to respect each other and that at least will save us from unnecessary arguements over useless thing that are beyond our controls.

0

@Tiff

I respect and thinks that your post (at the end of this entry) is objective and mature. But then your above posts just lost all the meaning of your below post. It makes no difference than the others.

0

It really was silly to mention how "inexperienced" another actress is on a public forum. Those kind of "negative" words often offend even if the original commenter hadn't meant it to be offensive, especially given the experience of the actor s/he had a biased toward.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions - freedom of speech. However, any experience in the cyber world knows that you should be careful of the words you say on a public forum. Some things should be said privately with your friends or online acquaintances rather be out there for the whole world to see and argue. That goes for fans of Chae Won as well. Despite the "negativity" that came up first from non-CW fans, CW fans should not use the same immaturity and negativity to respond to "offensive" comments.

CW has no chemistry with anyone? Well, all those couple awards are proof enough, no need for further defense. CW is "inexperienced" or "mediocre" - well, so be it. LSG is a popular and beloved star - if s/he uses public acknowledgement/awards as proof for LSG, then likewise s/he will have to admit to the public awards/acknowledgement of MCW. No need to argue when we are all using similar standards of evidence to prove our point.

I simply carry a bit more weight when industry veterans and directors/insiders speak to and applaud Chae Won's body of work and performances. That's a personal choice of mine. I chose critical acclaim over popularity and how well-loved an actor or actress is. Doesn't mean LSG is any better or worse than MCW. Frankly, I find he's quite charming and likeable.

0

Guys chat's wrong chill!!! LSG and MCW are good friends that's first, MCW is an amazing actress I'm happy SG will have her as a co-star unlike his 2013 co-star that's second. AIRENS dn't step on MCW to prove SG, the guy has his own recognition, even if it's his first movie I'm sure he'll rock it. And I'm an airen please don't step on SG to backfire on fans who don't contrast him, as his fan I apologize. He used to overact but shows great emotion just like MCW, and his recent works show how a great actor he became. they had great chemistry, and MCW and HHJ are friends, dn't start a fanwar. They all did a great job on BL, they were all 22 but managed to gain 47% ratings with their strong performance.

Good to hear that they're uniting, though what im really hoping to reunite was HHJ & Seunggi.
I wasnt expecting though that Seunggi's 1st movie will be a rom-com,, I'm more expecting that he'll choose a more solid and good plot for his 1st appearance on a big screen.. If ever he'll sign up all ican do is to cross my finger that it'll turn out good. I love MCW in Princess Man too one of the best Saguek i ever watched in Kdrama.

Anyhow, ill support Seunggi whatever it takes..

Hope he confirms soon because they were amazing in BL and I know they are also good friends in real life. Moon Chae Won's character sounds interesting and she has a knack for pickingprojects so hopefully this will turn out well too. ough i wish it was a drama reuinion :(

Love this reunion, but a Nice Guy reunion would've been better! Moon Chae Won and Song Joong Ki's chemistry was through the roof even though the script was lacking at times. Well until he comes back, wishing the best for this film!

In BL, I never felt the chemistry between Seung-Gi and Hyo Joo. I always wished he would end up w/ Chae Won. They had better chemistry.

A reunion will be nice since she didn't get him in the drama. Now, she'll get him in the movie. :)

*FANGIRLING!* My two bias coming together in one film; it cannot get better than this. Actually it can if LSG accepts it! I hope he does because I ship him with MCW in Brillian Legacy which was my first time shipping 2nd lead with the main lead.

I don't think Seung Gi is going to do it. It's already the middle of June, and they are no where near the end of his current drama. It would be nice though!

His current drama will end in 4 weeks. I heard this movie filming has been pushed back by one week, so probably it'll start filming by end of July.

I think it'll be confirmed very soon. Very excited as I love SeungGi-ChaeWon pair. They had great chemistry in BL and were really cute in Strong Heart.

YAAS will ends in 4 weeks time, so it is possible that LSG will be able to film the movie if it is confirmed. The movie can start filming MCW scenes that doesn't have LSG first.

The movie does not require them to go for training before it starts(unlike movie about sports or any other occupation may needs them to train for 1-2months before filming).

I like MCW and I felt she has better chemistry with LSG in SI/BL than HHJ. Though I was rooting for Hwan and Eun Seon but I felt so bad that Seung Mi has turned that way because it is not her fault.

Hope he take up this movie, because I doubt he will be able to pick up another drama/movie if he gives this up as he may have to go for MS next year.

Yessss I have been praying for this reunion forever!!! In BL, I always felt like they belonged together. Moon Chae Won was a better actress and they had better chemistry than the female lead. I hope this goes through, so they could finally end up together. Looking forward to this film!

This possible pairing excites me!

BL happened to be the first drama I ever watched. I got sucked in while on vacation in Los Angeles in 09. I caught four/five episodes in the middle & returned home & desperately tried to find it online so I could see the end (having never heard of DF, viki, etc & w/o any idea there was a way to watch a korean show online--I was totally green).

Long story short, after I found it, I started over from the beginning & was hooked but could not understand for the life of me why in the hell MCW had to have LSG so badly that she & her mother would go to such lengths.

I soon found out their behavior is standard m.o. in dramaland. I look back now & laugh at my naivete.

Anyhoo (sorry for the book--I tend to be way too wordy)--this possible pairing excites me as they were two of the four actors who introduced me to kdramas.

Totally unrelated but--Bae Soo Bin remains on my top five list of all-time favorite 2nd leads who I wish I could have in real life. He was sooooo good to 'Go Eun Sung' & I looooved him so. As a first timer to the dramascape I also could not figure out why Eun Sung chose dreadful Hwan over Joon Se.

I'm certain it was because she loved him lol.

Hwan is easily Seung-gi's most developed character who turned from super hatable to completely adorkable. BSB is just so much love, but his character wasn't. I hate clingy guys and we have way too many of them in dramaland.

Speaking of which, I want BSB to make a comeback as a good guy!! He plays everything like a freakin pro (he blew everyone out of the water in Secret). I adore the guy so I need him to play a character I can root for.

MCW & BSB were both too desperate and clingy. I thought both should have let go & moved on.

However, I still loved Joon Se's love for Eun Sung. And I would totally not mind a PJS in RL!

It's been a life-long puzzle to me how most ppl tend to like partners who mistreat them or are not nice-- or at least do that push-pull thing. I've never ascribed to that -- so Joon Se was the clear choice for me. Hwan did reform & became more palatable as the drama progressed. However, his change in behavior was never enough for me to justify GES's choosing him.

But I tend to feel like that w/all the dramas I watch & after 5 yrs that has not changed. It's rare for me to end up rooting for the male lead when he starts out as a mean jerk.

I totally agree! BSB' character was tooo much. Nice guy yes, but too nice to the point that he was overbearing. He never crossed a line into evil 2nd lead, but he was pretty close. Eun Sung was too independent to be with him once she was back on her feet. He'd always be there trying to "help" her even if she never asked for his help. His character treated her as a charity case, not a lover tbh.

Oh Gawwwwwd!! I dont know if I should screaming or dancing of happiness!! As much as I ADORED HwanSung couple in BL, I adorreed HwanSeung couple as well! I never hated Seung Mi in BL for a second but I sympathized her instead (I would go evil for Seung Gi too LOL) :D So I'm in! pleaseee do it! And oh, after that I want a Seung gi-Hyo joo reunion too! Yay pleaseee!

and hwan reunion. they looked super glam and adorkblee.

want me to rewatch bl again!!!

i also would like to have the great seung gi who does everything right debut with a bang with a big budgeted movie with veterans and bigshot established female lead with lot of hype.

and rom com and specifically a rom com as debut movie seems to giving lot of people bad signals.

idk about that .

but moon chea won is nice and would love to see the tables turn and see her be all devilish and fun and seung gi fighting for her . oh karma you butterfly!!

and for my puppies sake hope he will get enough rest ( he needed to have 2 weeks rest for his eye injury but came to work for yaas in 4 days and then shooting a movie right after wrapping up a drama??? hope you make you'r health a top priority)

and plus bl cast are close friends . hhj and seung gi keep sending love calls to each other to work together for years now. so to see this reunion first is a pleasant suprise. and oneday maybe we'll get hwangsung reunion too.

I think MCW is best in dramatic project and I actually hope she can join Secret Door with Han Suk-kyu and Lee Je hoon (to play Lady Hye-gyeong maybe?). Anyway, I prefer her costar in this movie is not LSG. I like him in variety but he never impress me as an actor and I'm just so doneeeee with all this reunion.

Park Jin Pyo. Check.
Producers of Yellow Sea. Check.
The two main leads. I'm worried.
MCW can pull a wonderful performance if given the right script or working with an amazing director. The problem now lies on the genre. She can play the romantic part but it is the comedic part is what worries me. It is admirable on her part that she is stepping out of her own comfort zone but it also raises concerns. There is a bit of hope since I've seen her noraebang scene in GD. And I've seen her in My Fair Lady. But MFL may not be the best example to judge her comedic timing since that drama is one hot mess.
I'm more concern for LSG. I like his variety persona. But everytime I see him act I see more LSG rather than the character that he's suppose to play.
In any given day I'll accept the 'star' and the variety persona but when it comes to films, drama or theater I want to see the 'actor'.

But her "comfort zone" is not really a comfort zone..Her past roles were really hard to portray and I don't think any actress in her generation could pull it off..IDK how to put this but MCW is someone who never stay in what you so called "comfort zone" because she is a type of actress who always challenges herself.TBH i am quite surprised that you able to said that, maybe b'coz most of her dramas were melodrama or somewhat serious and given also her roles were serious but what counts the most is the difficulty of characters your playing..I don't know what comfort zone is for you..

"MCW can pull a wonderful performance if given the right script or working with an amazing director."

I think in Good Doctor MCW already proved that she could pull off a wonderful performance even if given a very bad script, very poorly written character and not so good director..

I said that not in a negative way. I used that as a description of an actor's strength based on the characters she played and the genre. If you misinterpreted it or I may have stated it incorrectly my apologies.

@zoe,.. this comment is the answer to your question regarding.. 'comfort zone'...
Comfort zone is like 'forte'. Something that someone is so excellent.
Each actor has their own comfort zone or forte.
E.g. MCW's comfort zone is drama (light drama and heavy drama (melodrama)).

We wouldn't even go with the BL comparison talk if other people could stay out it. But there are some delulu who are still can't differentiate real and reel character in drama/delulu shipping and go all negative. If the otherside can stay out of this, then there won't be any fanwar in the first place.

I'm happy to see Lee Seung Gi move to the big screen, he deserves it. I would have preferred a darker role since I love him so much when he’s tormented and emotional, but I trust his choice. He's had very a good flair so far for picking his roles.
However I don't understand why some make such a big deal out of this leap to the big screen, going to the extent of even discussing if he is qualified or not. Of course he is. He's a fantastic actor with precise and sensitive acting, a very wide range of facial expressions, a strong yet charming presence and a very good body language. His eyes sparkle and look deep, his body is graceful. He has worked a lot to improve his acting since 2009 and it shows. He took challenging roles in dramas, especially with The King 2 Hearts and Gu Family Book, and he was remarkable in those. He's still young and he's got obviously huge potential.
Although tv and cinema are separate worlds, it is less separate in Korea than in Europe, I can assure you. Many young talents discovered on TV are making it on the big screen. Some are idols but a sharp eye could see at once that they had potential: Yeo Jin Goo, Lee Joon (well he debuted on the big screen), Im Siwan, Park Yoochun, Kim Yoo Jung, TOP, Kim Woo Bin... New blood for Chungmuro is coming from TV and it’s great, especially since they seem to be able to go back and forth between TV and cinema. Lee Seung Gi is one of them, a hot talent who needs a good project to extend his popularity to cinema screens. I don’t know if this film is « the one » for him, but he is right to try it now.
And I like Moon Chae Won very much, she was so sweet and cute in Good Doctor, she’s good with actors that have this irresistible manchild feel about them like Joo Won or Lee Seung Gi.
Good pairing.

Wooooh! The fan war intensified around here. Everyone's at each other's throat.

Moral of the story: whether or not one likes the co-star, it doesn't matter because we'll watch it for the other anyway. Even if I don't like MCW at all, I'd most certainly watch for Seung Gi and vice versa for MCW fans. No matter what, some will be upset if he accepts and some will be happy. So we should all just sip a coke and wait for the release if casting pushes through.
