Park Seo-joon courted for MBC drama Kill Me, Heal Me

So it looks like MBC is going ahead with Kill Me, Heal Me as their next Wednesday-Thursday drama in the new year. This is the other drama with a hero who has a split-personality (I knooooow, of all the trends), that Hyun Bin got into a media scuffle with over his potential-maybe-but-not-really casting. He ended up taking SBS’s Jekyll and Me instead, and now Kill Me, Heal Me has secured a timeslot and is finally back in the casting game.

First to be cast is Park Seo-joon (Witch’s Romance), and though I’m not certain, it seems that he’s being courted to play the second lead. Boo, I love Park Seo-joon and think he’s good enough to play a lead on a Big 3 show, but I won’t argue since he’s new and has time to build his career. Preferably a long and storied career as a noona-killer.

The new drama comes from PD Kim Jin-man of Scandal and East of Eden and writer Jin Soo-wan of The Moon That Embraces the Sun and Capital Scandal, and is described as a romantic comedy mystery melodrama. That seems mathematically improbable, but okay. It’s about a hero with split-personality disorder, who has a total of SEVEN personalities inside of him. He’s a third-generation chaebol (of course), and the heroine is a first-year resident physician who becomes his secret family doctor, and the drama is about their “healing romance.”

Park Seo-joon has been offered a role as a genius mystery novelist (really, there’s a mentally ill hero, a doctor heroine, and a mystery novelist too? Come on, people. Let’s at least try not to be SO obvious when ripping off It’s Okay, It’s Love). His character sounds fun, though, because he’s described as an oddball and people can’t quite figure out whether he’s a genius or a moron. Ha, he sounds cute — where’s the drama where he’s the hero and doesn’t have six other personalities, huh? Maybe it’s just me, but I really hope this split-personality trend is a short-lived one in dramaland. I’d say drama heroes have enough issues as it is.

Kill Me, Heal Me follows Mr. Back on Wednesdays and Thursdays in January.

Drama heroes have already enough issues for the heroines to deal with! How much can a girl take?!

This trend makes me however appropriate It’s Okay, It’s Love all the more...

i agree...this premise doesn't sound good but all depends on execution...isn't it just too weird for the lead to have 7 personalities, how does that make him likable or relatable?

About the rip off thing, this drama was written long time ago, i saw it on korean forums long before It`s Ok It`s love` came out. So maybe it`s other way around ? Who knows in dramalend.

Anyway, Park SeoJoon is like my secret crush since Witches Romance so i can`t wait for this.

+1 though if it fulfills its potential to be terrible I'd rather him choose something else alltogether

Now who is the male and female lead?
I doubt there's actually an actor who can pull 7 different personalities well. They need experienced actor, not the green ones definitely.

Well, I suppose they're courting someone more popular than Park Seo-joon at the very least. Although I'm still scratching my head thinking who? Almost all A-listers both in 20s and 30s are busy.

Anyhoo, I like the 'genuis' vs. 'moron' character. I hope that means he'll be more funny rather than love-sick puppy. I'm not sure how much of the mental male lead I can take, but I guess I have a bunch of choices?

Kang Ji Hwan or Cha Seu Wong can probably do it. They've got the acting chops.

But KJH is a KBS guy; As for CSW, I'm not sure but I think he's an SBS guy.

I would love to see anyone of them do it.

I love PSJ though, he so cute.

Oh, someone else who could pull this is Jin Yi Han(secret hotel, Empress Ki). He's a fabulous actor who can be very nuanced in his acting.

As a matter of fact, he would be my 1st choice for this role, but I doubt MBC will give him a male lead role after MSH bombed, although it was mostly due to a terrible and dragging script.

They pick Jin Yi-han and even if its as crap as MSH, I'm in till the last moment. I wish! He's one of the most talented and underrated actor I know of and it would be so awesome if he could get a huge break like this. Its criminal to get wasted in the goo that was MSH.

Kang Ji-hwan and I'm gone. He's really not someone I enjoy watching but I don't have an answer as to why. He is a good actor, but he doesn't appeal me. Cha Seung-won would probably be one of the rare actors that can actually pull 7 characters off without breaking sweat. He's be perfect although I'd like him in a sageuk...

omo, Cha Seung Won could totally pull off 7 different personalities.
But so could Jung Woong-In

If he's free, they should be begging him to do this. MBC needs a lead asap and Gong Yoo needs to get his sexy ass back in dramas asap!

HAHA, I was just thinking to myself: "I don't really want to watch this....but if they cast Gong Yoo? I'm in."

He's like the one person I would watch this for.

Maybe Kim Woo Bin or Lee Min Ho? Both are very popular in China( and this drama obviously caters to Chinese fans) and both are free at the moment , right? Not that any of the two could pull of 7 different personalities. Or maybe one of the JYJ boys Yoochun or Jaejoong? They both worked with MBC before and have no projects planed.

if they want to cater Chinese fans, just film the drama and air it in China. why do they need to use korean tax-payer platform when you dont care about korean viewers's opinion?

i say no no no to LMH or the JYJ boys.. they're an ok actor but here we talking about someone who has 7 split personality.. damn, they need to cast someone that has top notch acting skill..

I think Cha Seung-Won or Jang-Hyuk could pull it off. But Jang-hyuk is already roped in for Shine or Go Crazy, so I am not sure about CSW.

I'm only gonna watch it if the lead actor is good. If not, then the show won't be a success I guess.

What abut Lee Beom-soo? Is he too old for the role?

Why are there so many chaebols and geeeeeeniuses in dramaland. It's ridiculous that these tropes are so common that ordinary people being leads are something fresh.

Good luck to the actor who has to portray SEVEN different personalities....

It'd be kinda neat that if they're going with 7 personalities, we get to see them from the crazy man's perspective, in which case, the majority of the time we'd see 7 different people. Done right that could amp up the funny. Man I wish dramas did more black comedies. THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES!
Anyway, I'll withhold judgment till final casting and teasers. Though are they going for a secret love affair(not referencing the drama) sorta deal right? Since we are going to acknowledge that dating patients is unethical right? Especially when you have this dude waiting in the wings. Am I RIGHT?

Well, I love him and the description of his character! I'd love it if the drama revolved around him.

But...why this premise? Like, just why? This is a trend I don't want, Dramaland, take it back! I actually haven't had much trouble with the trends until now, but this is one I have a problem with.

So..we have...
A mentally ill hero = Comedy..
A doctor heroine = Melodrama..
A mystery novelist..guess what = Mystery..
And all three of these for Romance..
May dramaland god bless us..

Park Seo Jooooooooooon! Ok I am done. Is it sad that I still have Yoon Dong Ha withdrawals? haha ._. Happy to see him in a new drama but booo if he's the second lead. This will most likely result in SLS (Second Lead Syndrome) for me. Hopefully there will be no heartbreak on mine or his part due to this lol.

As for the male lead..I think Jung Il Woo could pull it off. He has done many different roles and he was great in each so it could work. Ngl I miss him and I just want a drama of his that I can stand watching ._. This one I would def. watch. And can you imagine, PSJ & JIW in one drama?? Early Christmas gift right there *_*

But I applaud your decision of not watching it. It was pretty bad. Tbh I only watched it for shallow reasons; JB, Jr., Jinwoon, and Park Seo Joon. haha ._.''

Second lead? Oooh boo, hiss!!

Of all the variables for this show, can they maybe tone it down just a leetle bit and go for just 4 or 5 different personalities? The less personalities there are, the more inclined I am to watch it.
