Yoon Doo-joon courted for Let’s Eat Season 2
Yaaaaay, that’s what I like to hear! Let’s Eat has been in talks to get a second season on the air this coming year, but until now, it’s been undecided whether it’d be another season with the same characters or a spinoff that remakes the concept with a new cast. But if they’re courting Yoon Doo-joon to come back, at least we know the goal is to continue the story with the original characters. Of course we’ll have to wait for a confirmation and for Lee Soo-kyung to return as well before that goal becomes a reality, but I like where your head’s at, Let’s Eat.
The foodie rom-com that aired from November 2013 to March of this year on tvN is about a quirky group of people who bond over their love of eating, and the cute romance between mania food-lover Lee Soo-kyung and stickler food-devotee Yoon Doo-joon. She’s a divorcee whose main joy in life is to eat delicious things, and has to overcome the petty annoyance of being civil to her neighbors because she can’t stand to eat alone. He’s a purist who runs a food blog and has all these funny rules about food, and in what order you have to eat things so that they’re best enjoyed.
I was surprised to like Yoon Doo-joon in the role as much as I did, but he’s got a good sense for comedy. It’s a hammy role because you have to look into the camera and get all geeky about the food in every episode, but it becomes its own running gag. I like that later Lee Soo-kyung becomes too impatient and hungry to listen to his long-winded intros about proper consumption, and is already stuffing her face by the time he’s done speechifying.
They’re just really cute together too, so I’ll be a happy camper if they can get everyone in the cast to come back for the second season. Well, everyone except for the serial killer, who really should not make a comeback ever. Yoon Doo-joon is considering favorably for now, and Let’s Eat 2 is planning to air on Mondays and Tuesdays in April, following Ho-gu’s Love.
