Yoon Doo-joon courted for Let’s Eat Season 2

Yaaaaay, that’s what I like to hear! Let’s Eat has been in talks to get a second season on the air this coming year, but until now, it’s been undecided whether it’d be another season with the same characters or a spinoff that remakes the concept with a new cast. But if they’re courting Yoon Doo-joon to come back, at least we know the goal is to continue the story with the original characters. Of course we’ll have to wait for a confirmation and for Lee Soo-kyung to return as well before that goal becomes a reality, but I like where your head’s at, Let’s Eat.

The foodie rom-com that aired from November 2013 to March of this year on tvN is about a quirky group of people who bond over their love of eating, and the cute romance between mania food-lover Lee Soo-kyung and stickler food-devotee Yoon Doo-joon. She’s a divorcee whose main joy in life is to eat delicious things, and has to overcome the petty annoyance of being civil to her neighbors because she can’t stand to eat alone. He’s a purist who runs a food blog and has all these funny rules about food, and in what order you have to eat things so that they’re best enjoyed.

I was surprised to like Yoon Doo-joon in the role as much as I did, but he’s got a good sense for comedy. It’s a hammy role because you have to look into the camera and get all geeky about the food in every episode, but it becomes its own running gag. I like that later Lee Soo-kyung becomes too impatient and hungry to listen to his long-winded intros about proper consumption, and is already stuffing her face by the time he’s done speechifying.

They’re just really cute together too, so I’ll be a happy camper if they can get everyone in the cast to come back for the second season. Well, everyone except for the serial killer, who really should not make a comeback ever. Yoon Doo-joon is considering favorably for now, and Let’s Eat 2 is planning to air on Mondays and Tuesdays in April, following Ho-gu’s Love.

As if Season 1 was not bad enough, they want to go for a 2nd helping? They cancel The Three Musketeers and they want to put another season of this drama? Does anyone at TVN looks at the ratings?

TTM's ratings weren't alot better than LE's though. Plus another season of LE would be alot cheaper to make.

tvN expected TTM to do alot better ratings-wise considering the supposedly huge amount of money they put into it. They don't want to do more seasons because they don't want to spend more money on a show that isn't as successful as they want it to be. It's the sad truth :/

Err, an expensive sageuk vs a modern drama with barely 10 cast members. You do see a difference in terms of production value, right? Dramas are not purely about ratings, they are about making money. There is no place for product placement in The Three Musketeers, while Let's Eat is basically ALL product placement with a lot of fluff in the middle.

And Let's Eat wasn't bad. As you can see plenty of people enjoyed it. Don't underestimate the power of food porn and slice-of-life romance. The Three Musketeers production shot themselves in a foot by dragging out the angst. If there was less angsty Mi Ryung and more hijinks, than maybe that drama would have gotten higher ratings.

^^ what Sour Grapes above said.

Huge, expensive sageuk vs low-key modern production with no expensive location shoots, small cast and lots of easily-integrated PPL......not that hard to see which one tvN will hand a Season 2 to.

Uh...lol, I happen to have really enjoyed Let's Eat.

You seem a little bitter than The Three Musketeers drama isn't getting a second season...But as others have pointed it out , it's probably much too expensive to produce. TTM probably barely broke even (assuming that it did).

If they push through with season 2, it better be with doojoon and sookyung. Those two were just a joy to watch!

I second that. :) I loved them right away!
there's just one bad (sort of) thing about this show. when you watch people eating, not just eating but eating with gusto you get hungry. ;) when I was watching it, I had tons of tea prepared cause otherwise I would end up eating in the middle of the night.

I was waiting for this!! I wouldn't be nearly as excited with a new cast. I too was not expecting to like him so much (I've seen him fir his music promotions and I pretty much overlook him...), but he was great in this.

2015 is looking good!

Surprisingly, all 3 of the Beast members I've seen in dramas (Yoon Doo-joon, Yong Junhyung and Lee Ki-kwang) have been pretty good, or at least fitted their roles perfectly.

(and I have Kikwang's drama special Twenty Years Old for sending me down the rabbit hole of listening to their music....which is pretty good, and they can all sing well - a rarity among idol groups)

I'm actually not entirely sure how I ended up listening to Beast because normally I only get to groups because they have members acting....but I don't think I've seen any of them in anything besides Let's Eat. That's encouraging that they're good though! He just always really blended into the background for me in his group, sort of the wallflower for me.

doojoon and sookyung should help the poor lawyer to find a girl for him in Season 2. I was actually looting for the lawyer.... yes, his behavior towards the woman was immature but his love is quite sincere....He deserves someone special,,,,

yesssssssssss! Yoon Doo-joon easily joined the "idols who I totally like seeing as actors" list thanks to Let's Eat 1, so hearing that he may be back makes me very happy!

Now get Lee Soo-kyung, Barasshi and Yoon So-hee back, please. I wonder where the story could go since Season 1 seemed very well-wrapped-up, but I love the slice-of-life feel, adorable cast and of course the food.

YES. YES. I'm so freakin' happy. Please. Now, I'm too far gone in my excitement, guys. He HAS to accept. And so does Lee Soo-kyung and everyone! I'm not sure why they wouldn't when it ended up being such a hit :) Hopefully this season can get Lawyer a girl! Ahhh, now I can't wait.

Shiksha-nim! I was expecting a completely new set of characters to be honest, with maybe just a cameo from original cast. But since they are courting Yoon Doo-joon I want to see Lee Soo-kyung as well.

P.S. Yoon Doo-joon is ridiculously handsome. Like, stupid-making levels of handsome.

(had to mention it since no one else seems to. Though I admit I could be biased because I liked his acting in LE1 so much)

Can't argue with you there. I'm in the middle of a Let's Eat marathon now (one day of gluttony is better than 16 separate days) and was just laughing at Gu Daeyoung's straight-faced lying abilities and messy room.

My kids who are half Asian and half American think that he is the most handsome among Beast members. He looks somehow similar to kang seo joon( with a certain angle) but Yoon Doo Joon looks more manly with darker skin tone.

Sorry it is Seo Kang Joon. I do watch many Kdrama but I hardly can remember actors' names,,, My apologies. When the music video of Beast has some scenes with soft focus effects, Yoon Doo Joon appears to look like Seo Kang Joon.

He is ridiculously, ridiculously, ridiculously handsome. A work of art, this guy is. Had the privilege to meet him and his Beast co-members in one of their stints here in the country back in 2012. I was so close to them, like in I-can-attack-him-with-a-bear-hug-or-MORE- distance, and I would have done so if not for the bouncers flanking each member. Stupid bouncers.

Totally agree. Yoon Doojoon is fine, like crazy handsome. I've watched a lot of his stages and variety shows (i'm a huge BEAST fan) and his oozing charisma and humor make him all the more attractive!

I'd forgotten about this drama but it was one of the few this year that I thoroughly enjoyed, despite its very simple story line. It was quirky, cute and funny...but also had a touch of sweetness without becoming too melodramatic. And Yoon Doo Joon was quite the surprise! I think I would only watch a second season with him in it. Who knows though.
