Name That Drama: Runaway grooms and pool mix-ups

It’s Name That Drama time! Can you name these dramas from these brief scene descriptions? As always, feel free to email us your questions and requests for future Name That Drama installments.

  1. Ha, sounds like this is a groom better left to run away. Can you help Midori figure out the show?

I started watching this in the middle of a scene on my local KBS channel but the guide did not have the name of the drama. A woman in a bridal gown is chasing after her missing groom in an airport. The missing groom is in a tracksuit and formal shoes. Bride is getting help from another guy and they chase him all over the airport. Once they get a hold of the groom, they find the groom was running away because a lottery ticket that the bride gave him won and he was planning to keep all the money for himself. The bride tells the groom to leave with the money.

  2. I know I’ve seen Danika’s drama — I swear it’s on the tip of my brain!

The two female leads fall into a pool so the two male leads jump in to save them and even though the first male lead is currently dating/engaged to the second female lead, he saves the first. Also, I think they were at a party for the male lead and the female lead had to sing at it (that’s where they were when they fell in the pool), but I’m not entirely sure.

If you could help me figure it out that would be fantastic! It’s driving me crazy! Thank you!

  3. ILOVEDRAMAS has a couple specific scenes to jog our memories:

SCENE 1: The male lead (who I am fairly sure is a chaebol heir) is reading manga (?) by lying on the couch and sticking the book between his TOES.

SCENE 2: He’s bidding for a horse that the female lead also happens to trying to buy…the female lead takes the horse but realizes that she doesn’t have enough money to pay…..

The name is totally on the tip of my tongue ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

  4. Hm, Jolie’s drama doesn’t a ring a bell with me. How about you?

Hm, Jolie’s drama doesn’t a ring a bell with me. How about you?
The drama I can’t remember has a girl going to prison/jail for her brother. She gets out and has trouble getting work. Her mother left her brother and her for another man, and they have a half-sister. There is a grandmother who is killed in a car accident by the half-sister, but she gets her boyfriend (who becomes the love interest of the girl who went to jail) to confess that he did it. The main hero (the boyfriend) owns a factory. That’s all I can recall. Thanks.

  5. Ah, I’ve totally seen this. Got a title for Gaelicmaiden?

Can you help me remember the name of a show? I’m pretty sure it’s in the same vein as The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry and the I Need Romance series.

I remember one of the women finding out her husband is having an affair. Her friend tries to set her up with a (younger) man (though it may have just been a ploy to make the husband jealous). The man, not unkindly, says he’d rather not get involved in such a messy situation.

Later, the man is swimming laps in a pool and is startled when he sees the woman lying on the pool floor (alive). He gets mad and tells her that if she’s going to kill herself, do it somewhere else. She tells him she wasn’t trying to kill herself; she just wanted to cry in peace.

Sorry, I know it’s an obscure scene but it’s driving me crazy! Do you know the show I’m talking about?

  6. Help Miriam remember who this jealous psycho is and what drama he came from:

It’s a quite recent one (feels 2010- to 2012-ish) if I remember right, and the problem is that I was looking for another drama when I watched it so I only “flickered” through the whole thing without remembering much. But here it goes: It’s a girl and two guys (jealousy drama as always). I only remember that the ex-boyfriend goes psycho-style in the ending and lures the girl to this big house where he tries to kill her or hurt her or something, and the new guy comes and rescues her (he climbs in to the house by climbing a ladder I think) from the mean guy and the basement where she was held. The mean guy sets the place on fire trying to kill himself and the girl (how romantic eh) and you think Mr. Mean Guy dies there injured and all that, but he doesn’t…

Thanks for playing, everyone — till next time!

Yes! I totally remember Changmin reading manga with his toes while happily chomping on oranges. LMAO

Oh yes, it is without a doubt that. And no matter how much I love Changmin and how pretty the Jeju scenery is, that is definitely in my top 10 "Never watch/never even REMEMBER you watched this drama" list of horribly written/acted/plot-ed dramas lol. Whoever asked, keep it an adorable memory.

1. "Looking for Kim Jong Wook" was a 2010 movie that they aired recently as a drama special on KBS America. Lee Chung-ah (Flower Boy Ramen Shop) is the bride, though the guy who plays her tracking assistant's name escapes me (he was the actor doofus in Queen Inhyun's Man).

#2 def happened in Trot Lovers (http://www.dramabeans.com/2014/08/trot-lovers-episode-14/) but I'm laughing at how many different responses to this there were (boys over flowers, marriage not dating, paradise ranch...). Has this pool scene really been played out in so many different dramas?!!

Required fields are marked *

it has. i remember lee dongwook and jessica's drama also has that scene (forgot the title). you're beautiful also has this scene. its lsort of ike when we see a pool on a drama, its a foreshadow that the heroine gonna be drown in it, and the hero will come to the rescue.

though i think paradise ranch is actually just wrong numbered answer (its suposed tobe for the no3 drama, the one with horse)

Lee Dong Wook and Jessica's drama was "Wild Romance", except they were not at a party, the girls were kidnapped by a crazy ahjumma. And Lee Dong Wook was not engaged to Jessica, they were only exes.

Required fields are marked *

yup. it is. i just pointing out that the"pool scene" is kinda overly used, judged by the number of dramas that used it allready (5 from TG and my list)

Number 2 strangely sounds like an old korean drama called Phoenix with Eric Mun and Lee Seo Jin. I watched that series when I was really young. Number 6 kind of sounds like One Fine Day with Gong Yoo and Sung Yuri. There's a scene very very similar to that.

wow. i cant believe i have some sort of answer for something on this quiz;)..

for the 4th one : though only some points match, i remember seeing the gradma die i think cause of the second lead/sister/someonesomeone.. so.. it was 'the successful story of a bright girl'.. it defo doesnt have her going to jail i think and/or a half bro.. but ..

You know, I used to wonder about the "throw a rock, hit a chaebol" population in dramas, but looking at a list of the top 50 richest companies in South Korea, 47 of them are chaebol. Turns out, there really ARE a lot of super rich connected people floating around.
