Kim Soo-hyun courted for split-personality crime thriller

So I guess this means the split-personality trend isn’t going to die anytime soon? I’m starting to think that a leading man without dissociative identity disorder is becoming the rarity in film and television, because I just can’t seem to get away from it. Kim Soo-hyun may have turned down the split-personality drama Dr. Frankenstein, but he’s now considering an offer for the movie Real, where he’d play a man with multiple personalities. If this has to happen, can one of them be a teenage girl?
The new movie from writer-director Lee Jung-sub of Romantic Island and Lost in Love and the producers of New World is an action crime thriller about a man with dissociative identity disorder. That’s all we’re told at this point, so the possibilities are quite endless. Is he a mastermind by night and a mild-mannered man by day who doesn’t know that his alter ego has committed crimes? Wouldn’t it be awesome if he were the detective AND the criminal?
Kim Soo-hyun’s last movie was Covertly, Grandly in 2013, and he’s currently shooting his new drama Producer, which is due out in May. It’d be nice to see him going back to darker movie roles where he could bust out more action skills (or okay, I wouldn’t say no to more workout scenes either), since we know that he’s got the romantic lead down pat.
Real is still casting and plans to start shooting later in the year.

Oh it would be so cool if he gets to play both the criminal and the detective. it would be like Secret Window where Johnny Depp was both the criminal and the victim. KSH may not be as talented as JD, but he'd do pretty good in such a scenario.

I think the whole obsession about psychological disorders started from It's Okay It's Love. Except Jo In Sung had schizophrenia and the drama was pretty well written and a hundred times less cringe worthy than Hyde, Jekyll, Me or whatever that disaster Hyun Bin was in.

The first drama in 2014 that had mentally ill people in it was Gap Dong, so maybe from there? But the DID wasn't present in Gar Dong or IOIL, so maybe writers are just obsessed with psychiatry at the moment?!

Omg I'm so sick and tired of DID. Can it be 2016 already? But on the other hand, it's Kim Soo-hyun. How can I say no to dark, action, hot KSH ala Theives.
If he can be the detective and the criminal as per GF's suggestion, then I might just love this particular DID project!

ksh must really want to try darker role with much more challenging acting role. he even considering dr frankeinstein before he reject it. now he is considering DID film. maybe the reason he rejects dr franskentein is because the redundant in this type of drama.

Oh No! Not a big fan of the split personality genre. Too hard to follow for my simple minded brain. But looking forward to KSH in Producer along with Gong Hyo-jin and Cha Tae-hyun.

I am fed of with DID trend in Kdramas these days. Not that impressive. And why on earth does DID have to be involved with silly "teenager girl" personality? Drama is drama, and movie is movie. Rom-com is rom-com and crime thriller is crime thriller. Don't mess them up.

I thought split personality stories were all over the place but then I watched KMHM and realized as long as the writing -over everything- is good, wacky premises can work! The only thing I wouldnt stand is if they pull a Plan Man, Obsession or a Covertly, Greatly(?) and change the plot half way into the movie...
